Ray Grey is the only one of the Weatherlings who doesn't have any power to control. Her best friends can control snow and rain, but they're all very great together.
One day, she finds an old book at the library, and that book has a map with an X. It's a map from Earth and along with her cloud friend, Nim, she goes to Earth to see what the treasure is.
The discovery she makes changes her life forever.
The story was really predictable, but it was creative, and the characters were sweet. I especially loved Ray's parents. Her mum is an engineer having all sorts of tools in her hair so she can reach them faster.
The story is action-packed mostly, full of active moments, discoveries and intensity.
I felt amazing reading and listening to the book at the same time. Looking forward to the next two books in this trilogy....more

I started this book because I already own a physical copy of Sing, Unburied, Sing, the second book in this trilogy. And because I previously read the author's letter in Navigate Your Stars and loved it, I decided to give this one a go as well (you find it on Scribd, by the way).
Unfortunately, I only read the first chapter a few months ago, and although it covers some serious and important topics, I simply didn't resonate with the story. I did some research and found out that all three books, although using the same setting, can be read as standalones.
So I decided to dnf this one and I plan on getting to the second book, see if it works or not....more

The Ancient Magus' Bride volume 1 by Kore Yamazaki is also the only one I read in the series so far (I still need to buy the rest). I read reviews where people complain this was inappropriate, an underage girl called Chise bought as a slave for a head-skull guy, later telling her that (view spoiler)[he wants her to be his wife (hide spoiler)].
Maybe it seemed like a weird relationship, but I didn't find it that way. I don't understand his motive yet, but I'm really curious about her whereabouts.
The end of the first issue was confusing, so I might have to re-read it before continuing on (which I won't mind at all).
4 stars and looking forward to the next ones....more
Phew, this story! Edge is, undoubtelly, one of the best skilled authors out there.

Phew, this story! Edge is, undoubtelly, one of the best skilled authors out there.
It's Maisie Day's birthday and she turns 10. Her biggest sister, Lily is 15 years old and hates her younger sibling. However, Maisie is sure this is going to be the best day ever! Until she wakes up and soon realizes that no one is home. And when she's opening the door, all she can see is darkness.
Next chapter shows us her day starting normal, her parents getting ready for her birthday and preparing food, the gazebo outside and interacting as they usually do. So what is actually happening?
Each chapter is alternating between these two realities until we discover the shocking truth. The action takes places mostly at their home, and we are told about some of Maisie's life before this day, how she is academically gifted and knows so much about science.
The end is happy, but bittersweet. I didn't expect that reveal and once again the author amazes me.
I like that in each book (at least this and The Longest Night of Charlie Noon that I read so far from him) Christopher is teaching us about life stuff, like time and space and science and the universe through the eyes of a child.
So although I liked this one pretty much, it wasn't as amazing as Charlie Noon, in my opinion. But it was a great book whatsoever and I'm looking forward his other books....more

In this story we follow the perspective of Olav Johansen, an assassin who works for Daniel Hoffman. But one day, Hoffman gives him a new job: To kill Corina, Daniel's wife. And things start to hit the fan from there, having an unexpected ending and some good twists throughout.
Although it's a very short book, it took me a lot to finally get down to read it, but only because I was reading other books, so it's my fault here.
I recommend this one specially in December because the time in the book is right before Christmas and it's a good crime book.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn't something shockingly good compared to others I read along the years. So I'm giving it 3 stars.
I'm really looking forward to reading the second book in this duology....more

⚔ The fact that Hades and Persephone only share a few awkward moments between them, so there isn't that much steam from their friendship; ⚔ There are a lot of stories shared from other's lives, and some were nice and some were meh; ⚔ And the Rape Trigger Warning ⚠ which made me hate that guy truly and the ending was really sad!
But this sequel?! I had no idea I will love it so much! We finally get to enjoy Hades and Persephone and their time together. There were also pretty often dramatic and badass moments that I truly enjoyed, because it was good drama! ...more

Now, while I was reading the book and enjoyed the graphics/illustrations created by John Tenniel, I couldn't help but wonder: What the actual f... am I reading?! It started fast paced, right into action, while I was expecting a tiny bit of a slower start. Then when I knew it must go faster it went slower! :D
It got weirder and weirder with every page and chapter. The characters were so odd and whatever they said made a little to no sense. I am sure there were some meanings to them, but I only catched a few, and I think each character represents some kind of human being with a kind of personality.
I was wondering what rating should I give this one when I got to the end, and my reaction was: (view spoiler)[Ohhhh, it was only a dream!! I thought it was just an unusual fantasy. (hide spoiler)] And I can't remember if this is shown in the movie or not, to be honest.
And I'm still unsure about the rating and how this book made me feel, but it was somewhat enjoyable and I laughed at times, so for now I'm giving it 3 stars (more like 2.5 - I will get back on this, maybe)....more

This one has a great premise, pretty cliche but nice characters, an eerie vibe from time to time, and a great audio narrator, so I thought I will like it very much!
But now, after I finished it, I can't keep thinking: What the hell did I just listened to?! The MC was so annoying, repeating that he has to do that thing because he was a hero helping the families of his friends! Yeah, SUUUUREEEE!
You know what? You should definitely read this one and see for yourself. It's a short one and entertaining at times, and maybe you'll enjoy it more than I did, since I'm clearly in the minority here. :D
