Parašytas jau po man laaabai patikusių "Atminties policijos" ir "Begalinės lygties". Net neabejojau, jog patiks. Man pasirodė labai blankiai parašyta.

...more

Labai komplikuotas buvo skaitinys. Rachel Kushner labai myliu. Jos ronanas "The Mars Room" ir esė rinkinys "The Hard Crowd" man padarė įspūdį.

Man dar labai kliuvo nūdnas audio knygos įgarsinimas. 2,5*...more

Gaila, bet ne visi man pasirodė stiprūs. Kažkaip nori nenori lygini su jos "Namų tvarkytojos Vadovu" ir šis rinkinys šiek tiek pralaimi. Nekantrauju pradėt jos memuarus "Welcome Home".
Iš trumputės Lucia Berlin sūnaus Mark Berlin įžangos: 'Ma wrote true stories; not necessarily autobiographical, but close enough for horseshoes. Our family stories and memories have been slowly reshaped, embellished, and edited to the extent that I'm not sure what really happened all the time. Lucia said this didn't matter: the story is the thing.'...more

`[...] she says: „Finaly, I‘ve been able to shave my legs, put on some perfume, rediscover my femininity.“ [...] She doesn‘t want to go out on the town, see her friends, read the papers. She wants to shave her legs? That‘s absolutely her right. But please – don‘t expect me to think it‘s normal. Monique Wittig: „Here we are again today, caught in the trap, the same familiar deadlock of „being-a woman-is wonderful.“ A message happily proclaimed by men. And passed on by female accomplices, always eager to defend their masters‘ interests. God, but middle-aged men love telling us about ourselves. They never mention the logical conclusion to the phrase „being-a woman-is wonderful“: as long as you‘re young, slim, and attractive to men. Otherwise there‘s nothing wonderful about it. It‘s just twice as alienating. ` (135 p.)
