A graphic novel I'm currently creating, THE MANY MISFORTUNES OF EUGENIA WANG, in a very old rendition had my protagonist with a similar acute olfactory sense, but one that would trigger vivid memories, something a feel like I share to a lesser extent with these characters.
I can't wait to see how this story unfolds!...more

I think it should be required reading for any freedom-loving American because it cuts right to the heart of freedom. It also is an empowering book that shows that anyone can make a difference and as is mentioned many times "silence is complicity." I also feel like it shows how empowerment can come from unity: unity through compassion, through reading about one another, and walking a mile in another's shoes. Those are precisely the things that politicians, like the one described in this book definitely don't want, because it makes it so much harder to sow fear by "othering" people that are different. ...more
