I loved the first, Billionaire Cowboy Next Door, so I picked up Wade and Bernadette’s story. Wise move. Bernadette Stewart is a super-charged real-estate agent who loves to speed down the highway in her red Ford truck. Since Wade Thibodeaux is the local sheriff, he frequently chases her down, ready to give her a speeding ticket. Because she finds herself attracted to the good-looking guy, she doesn’t mind seeing his smiling face through her driver’s window. Now Wade is trying to track down the villains who’re burglarizing their town. He never expects Bernadette to become involved nor a wayward teenaged girl. Enjoy another cozy mystery from Bonita McCoy who hails from the great state of Alabama. June Foster – author of the best-selling Cranberry Cove series ...more

Chill bumps covered my arms each time I picked up the book. I’d have to get use to them, though, as the entire novel keeps the reader furiously turning pages to see what happens next. The story is inspired by Paul the apostle’s travels to the Roman province of Galatia. In her creative thought processes as an author, Lisa has imagined what Paul’s story might look like today in America. At every turn, the reader is privileged to hear the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. She allows us to understand how relevant the Bible is today, not only in Biblical times. If this theme were not enough, the reader gets a glimpse of what our society in America could come to if we remain on the current path. Thought provoking, edge-of-your-seat, pertinent to our time, you don’t want to miss this book. June Foster, award winning author of The Cranberry Cove series ...more

The sweet, heartwarming novel offers entertainment, a sense of family, and lots of humor. Nick Marshall’s life is filled with travel and adventure, and he wouldn’t want it any other way. Working as a teacher and mother of triplets, Cara Andrews has no time for anything else—much less traveling the world. When Cara serves at a summer camp in charge of the kitchen, she finds an attraction to the handsome Nick who works as a park ranger teaching kids to fish, among other activities. Scenes throughout the story brought a smile to my face as the author offers sweet interaction with Cara’s three sons. For example, when the boys are responsible for a fishing accident where Nick receives an eye injury, they believe they put the ranger’s eye out and run, screaming for their mother’s help. When Nick’s foster mother tells him he needs to find a girlfriend, Nick quips and says he’s the one who should be looking, not her. Most endearing is when Nick saves Cara from a treacherous green lizard in the pantry. The reader will relax and enjoy this uplifting story—like sitting on lawn chairs basking in the warm sun enjoying fresh breeze. ...more

Two sisters' lives are indeed complicated and confused as they both fall for the same man. I couldn't put the novel down until I discovered which of the women wins the guy. The author's ability to flesh out characters, allowing us to see into their very souls, is outstanding. You won't be sorry you picked up this book....more

McCoy is my first exposure to cozy mysteries. I knew I'd enjoy the read as Bonita is a friend, fellow Word Weavers author, and precious Christian sister. I was intrigued by the creative plot and couldn't imagine in what direction the author would take readers. The story opens at the wedding of Betsy Jacobs and Jimmy Williams where we find the groom standing over the reverend with a bloody cake knife. What? A groom murders the clergyman only moments after he'd said I do to the love of his life? Amy Kate, an amateur sleuth, asks the same question and takes numerous risks to find out the answer. My favorite element of Bonita's writing is her humorous style or as some may define it, tongue-in-cheek. She kept me smiling throughout the book even in the midst of danger and suspense. Twisted Plots and Family Twist precede Twisted Vows in the series. I'll be anxious to read these mysteries, as well.

She takes the reader on a journey inProdigal Lives by Carol McClain doesn't gloss over the troublesome problems with which today's society struggles. She takes the reader on a journey in where we get a glimpse into the real world. The novel is the story of two people—Meredith Jaynes who searches for purpose and hope and Pearl Solomon, Meredith's oldest foster child. Meredith must deal with the pain of losing her husband and daughter, so she throws herself into a life of raising foster daughters and tending to her goats. A relationship with the man who's entered her life, Parker Snow, is just out of reach, so she resigns herself to earning a living by making soap and selling her product at craft shows and flea markets. When Pearl leaves home, a hole remains in Meredith and the other two sisters' hearts. As a teen, Pearl goes to live with her aging grandfather. She savors the stability and sense of family she experiences with her blood relative. But, Pearl's life turns upside down, and she find herself with more challenges than she bargained for. Prodigal Lives realistically examines the lives of both families. Many readers will be able to relate to the characters, especially parents and families dealing with loved ones struggling with drug use. I recommend this book with five stars.

Both are edge of the seat stories that forecast a society that no longer honors God. Though the story is classified as fiction, both parts 1 and 2 could feasibly be true in the near future. In fact, I can see our country headed in that direction. The story's main character is Julie whom we met in part 1. Her special needs daughter is in danger when the government encourages Julie and Todd, her husband, to release the girl to the GovHealth department to be euthanized. I had to snicker when the Supreme Leader referred to their old election system as "the chaotic and corrupt ballot system." Of course, this man assures the citizens that under his control, the nation is structured and powerful. The cover of the book hints at two important objects in the story—a butterfly and a pearl necklace. The reader will enjoy discovering these plot elements which are richly intertwined into the plot. The story leads the reader on seemingly impossible circumstances yet when God's will is played out, things can change. This is a must read for all readers who like stories of end time prophecy. ...more

Much of the intriguing story is set on the high seas in ocean-going vessels. Other scenes are set at the Cape Hatteras lighthouse where I had to privilege of visiting once.
