He is gruff, controlled, and no-nonsense about everything. In contrast, Benny Ruggieri is a food service worker and aspiring costume designer. He is an employee at Zeke's Dad's bagel shop and his boss won't stop until he has set the two of them up on an official date. But Benny is about as opposite of Zeke as he could be. He is flashy, fun, vivacious, and outgoing. He is who he is and does not care what anyone thinks. He is smaller and less imposing, but a firecracker. He loves fashion. color, and anything fabulous.
They are not each other's "types" at all. Somehow during their "fake date" to appease their matchmaker, a surprising interest and connection occurs despite their differences. They are opposite in looks, behavior, upbringing, outlooks, and there is even an age difference. Zeke likes "normal and balance." Benny takes normal as an insult and prefers to stand out.
I loved how Benny brings out a more impulsive and passionate side of Zeke. They both kind of bulldoze unexpectedly into each other's lives and are trying to figure out how they could fit. I enjoyed their sarcastic banter, rapport, and sexual tension. They have really hot chemistry and the whole opposites thing really made me smile.
I liked Zeke's point of view and seeing how he was surprising himself with his actions and thoughts about Benny. And even though we did not get Benny's point of view, he was well developed and a strong, smart, lovable, and vibrant guy. I absolutely adored the fiery dynamo.
Zeke has issues from his past and rigid thinking. He's got trust and commitment issues and denies the obvious at times. He always tries to be the best and to prove himself, but he also has a hard time forgiving and letting go once hurt or betrayed. And there are several situations in his past that have left a mark on him and he has not fully dealt with. I liked that he was out and not afraid to be who he was even with his peers. But he could be stubborn and a bit clueless. Benny brings out his more patient, understanding, flexible, and fun side. But he definitely has some emotional issues to handle.
Benny does not want to play games and is not afraid to call him out. He is also brave, proud, and a force to be reckoned with. But Benny also has a soft heart and could get his feelings hurt.
I really loved these guys! They were so different, yet so compatible and passionate. This story engaged me from the start, and I was totally immersed throughout. I enjoyed their dynamic and how they made such an impact on each other. It was humorous, sexy, heartfelt, and emotional. Oh, so many feels!
Characters from A Kind of Truth make appearances in this one including Rand, William, and Zeke's dad, George. His character was actually a very integral part of their present story and Zeke's past issues. Zeke's best friend, Carter, is also introduced and I could see some leading man potential for a possible future story in this series.
I really enjoyed this book and appreciated how Lane Hayes built this unlikely love story. Love is unique, messy, and scary sometimes. It can be a sweet, intense, and healing force, and it can show up when least expected with the most unlikely people.

As word of mouth spThis is a series that you really want to go in blindly. I remember when it first came out and I read the synopsis, I was clueless. As word of mouth spread and I later read Bang Bang that which is a mid series stand alone to allow people to jump into the series, I now know what it is really all about. But it is still fun watching all the secrets, lies and hidden elements of their world slowly be exposed.
When farm girl Trace Rooks wins the annual Eagle Elite college scholarship she has no idea what she is really getting into. She is thrust into a world with a class system, rules, and many people with cruel intentions. From the minute she arrives she is on the radar of the group that runs the school...Nixon and his cohort, Chase, Tex and Phoenix. And she also ends up rooming with Nixon's sister, Monroe.
Poor Trace has a difficult transition into this world and nothing is really what it seems. Nixon and his group alternates between tormenting her and protecting her. But something keeps drawing Nixon to her, and Chase as well. Nixon ran extremely hot and cold, but had underlying reasons and obligations. He was handsome, powerful, controlling, and could alternate quickly between cruel, closed off, and protective. Trace was pretty naive, emotional, and impulsive. She was lost for much of the story as she had no idea what she was really involved in and all of the players kept her off balance. And there were inconsistencies in her past that she is slowly becoming aware of.
Together they were a mess. It was hard to keep up with if they were ignoring, fighting or just hurting the other at any given point and it could change rapidly. There was a lot of push and pull and since many reasons were hidden, it was hard for Trace (and us) to figure out what was really going on under the surface. I was equally drawn to the characters and annoyed by them at the same time. Their behavior gave me whiplash.
This whole story is full of secrets, drama, hidden agendas, and danger. The depth of the situation slowly unravels as the story goes on and Trace is gradually brought into the loop.
This is the type of book you pick up to just escape into another world. It pulls you in and is fast paced and has many twists. The external drama regarding the social system at the school and family drama often took over the romantic aspect of the story. But there were relationships forming: Trace and Nixon in their on again/off again situation. Trace and Chase is a more friendly platonic, but still close bond with potential for more. Monroe and Tex were circling around each other. I felt like the relationships were not really fully developed and some of it seemed to happen too fast or changed too rapidly. It seemed like the relationships were more one dimensional, while the family ties were quite layered and at times almost overwhelming to keep straight. But with that being said, this is just book one and I know it will all firm up in future books. Since I read Bang Bang already, I have already seen a bit into the future with these characters. And I knew that after reading Elite it was going to be necessary to go right into Elect to continue Nixon, Trace, and Chase's story and also look forward to more of Tex, Monroe, and Phoenix in the future.

Now I had pegged him to fall in love with his best friend and FBI agent, Hazel, but that was debunked in the last book. Leighton has seen all of his friends pair off and he is starting to feel the isolation. He is stills struggling with things that happened in the military and generally living on auto pilot. He is lonely, smart, resourceful, and his friends are his only family.
When Hazel brings him some information to assist with a case that is linked to a bigger one, he knows he needs to enlist his team to help save one woman and any other women they can. But there is another woman named Luciana Carrera who is closely related to the crime boss they have been after, and they have no idea if she knows about the darker side of the business she helps run.
Leighton finds himself wanting to believe that Lucy does not know of her uncle's nefarious deeds and that she is not guilty by association, and it becomes obvious fairly early whose side Lucy is on. But there are layers of secrets, lies, and family dynamics affecting her. Suddenly her life has taken on a suspenseful and dangerous turn. It is hard to know where the truth lies and who is friend or foe. And Leighton and Lucy will have to figure out if they can really trust each other.
I liked both Leighton and Lucy. Leighton was protective, honorable, and such a charming guy. And Lucy was smart, inquisitive, and truly caring. They had good rapport and chemistry. Things happen at a pretty fast pace, and there are multiple antagonists and some twists. Fans of this series, will enjoy visiting with some of the other couples and the progression in the larger story arc that has been running through the books.

After meeting at Axel's wedding, Layla and Xavier became friends. Friends who text, facetime, and get together when he is in town.
Layla is attracted to him, but tries not to let it show. Xavier has it bad for her, but he hides it. He is not who Layla thinks he is and knows he is not good enough for her. She has already escaped one dangerous ex and he cares enough not to want to put her in danger due to his own activities.
Layla is sweet, caring, and just getting back on her feet. She already has some deep self worth issues, and rejection only exacerbates them. Xavier is sexy, funny, and intelligent. He just has one really big secret. A secret that makes him feel unworthy of love or a future, and that secret keeps him from going after what he really wants. Well, it stops him until he just cannot take it anymore and slips. He runs hot and cold. He pushes her away then pulls her back in. He confuses and hurts her feelings, and makes her angry.
But when his biggest fear comes true and she seems to be a target, he will need to pull her in close. Despite how volatile their friendship/relationship has become, he is the man who vows to keep her safe one way or another. But they are going to need some help figuring out who is coming after them.
This installment has friendship, romance, steam, danger, and suspense. I liked this couple and how they both had their strengths and weaknesses, but balanced each other well. They both had reasons to feel not good enough, but together they had great potential. Sometimes the world is not black and white, and it shows the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and priorities. It brings back the whole Redemption Harbor crew. I love this group and how they take care of each other and bring new people into the fold. I am sad to see this series go, but all of the main characters have found their mates and she wraps it up nicely in an epilogue.

But he is worried about the Fire specialist Luis Riviera is being sent on an assignment from California back to Oregon where he spent his teen years. But he is worried about the memories he might encounter.
It seems much worse when he is reunited on the job with the boy he loved and lost twenty years ago, Tucker Ryland. They were best friends and first loves, but got separated due to no fault of their own. But long-distance, lack of control, and choices broke their hearts and they have not communicated since. But now Luis and Tucker will be working closely on a rash of arson fires.
Tucker cannot regret one choice he made because it gave him his teenage twin sons. And the choices he has made since mostly have had their well-being in mind. He works in a safer, more stable area of fire fighting in fire management in his small hometown in Oregon. He is divorced, but still co-parents. He has admitted his demisexuality to his family but has kept it private at work.
Luis is doing what he loves as a fire behaviorist, but still lives a pretty solitary life despite his family living in California as well. He has loved and lost and does not think he will get serious again.
These two have a lot of unresolved feelings, past pain, resentment, and regrets. But once they finally start clearing the air, they also remember all the good in their history. And now as fully grown, mature men they find even more attraction and passion.
I loved these two together. Tucker is inexperienced but ready to enjoy Luis' guidance and explore new things. They have chemistry and this bond that seems to click right back into place. I loved how understanding and patient Luis was with Tucker, and how willing Tucker was to try and include Luis into his daily life. But they have a big time stamp overshadowing their happiness as well. They know time is limited and there will be no easy way to end it without getting hurt and ending up right back in the same situation as before.
This is a sweet, sexy, emotional, inspiring, first love, second chance, M/M love story about finding a soul mate, choices, and following your dreams. Even though the arson investigation is part of the story, this is more about their relationship and lives rather than actually fighting fires. I liked that they were mature, had life experience, and could communicate. And both Luis and Tucker had opportunities for growth and had their own choices to make. These two had deep roots in their locations and people depending on them, but it will come down to either sacrificing their own needs or being willing to make other sacrifices in order to fight for the other person.
I enjoyed seeing glimpses of other characters from this series, but it can be read as a total stand-alone. I adored Tucker's teen sons, Walker and Wade, and how their stories and advice also had an effect on how Tucker and Luis viewed their situation. The whole family aspect of this one made it feel more real, but also added complications. But I totally fell for these guys and I was rooting for them to find an answer that would finally give them both their well deserved happy ever after.

It is one of the worst times to find himself on the receiving end of attraction and interest from a sexy cop that frequents the diner where he works during the day. Connelly Reid likes both sides of Azariah--the sarcastic, no nonsense waiter and flashy, fabulous diva who likes heels and make up. He sees beyond his snark and toughness to the more vulnerable and interesting man underneath. Connelly is a creature of habit, stable, honest, and helpful. But he also has a dominant alpha side and is ready to shake things up.
Azariah's problems take him to a dark place. Connelly's presence is like a beacon of light calling to him, but at the same time it is tied into some of his negative feelings and not feeling good enough. He is also untrusting and fearful of getting too close to someone and being hurt. Connelly really wants to help Azariah believe in himself and see how special he is. But Connelly has some secrets that could negatively impact them, and Azariah is struggling with his own demons and secrets.
Their attraction, chemistry, and connection are intense and volatile. They both have trust issues They react strongly. They hurt each other and themselves. They make mistakes. They fight for control. Connelly is a fixer and likes to help and be protective. Azariah is full of pride and wants to make it on his own. He is not used to having such support and care.
Azraiah is a realist who does not believe in dreams and happily-ever-afters especially for himself. Connelly will have to convince Azariah to be brave enough to hope, trust, and believe. That means permanently breaking down his walls and defenses. And they will both need to come to terms with what they really want and consider the other's needs.
Can Connelly convince Azariah that he is worth it and help him see how he really shines?
This is raw, gritty, intense, passionate, and emotional. These two have quite a few challenges individually and together. There are some definite dark situations in this book that may be issues for some readers.
We get more with the Sassy Boyz: Ansel (and his boyfriend, Fitch), Tam,and Lirim. We also get to meet a couple of new sassy guys, Jae and Hop. I have enjoyed this series so far and was pulled back into this world that is not really shiny and pretty, despite the flashy characters. These characters have depth and are likable and redeemable despite their tough exteriors, sharp edges, issues, and sometimes glittery packaging. This one also has a police aspect that was weaved throughout the story and plot line giving it a different feel. This one totally lives up to its name Dark and Dazzling. I am looking forward to more in this series and with these characters...maybe Tam or Lirim next? It will be interesting to see how some events that transpired in this installment bleed over into the next book.

He has given up his career, moved home, taken over a garage, and entered parenthood. He has always been strong, intelligent, focused, and good in a crisis, but now his head is spinning.
Teagan Shaw is the school counselor, but also the mother of his niece's best friend. She is there to support and guide him. But she is also attractive, smart, funny, and caring. Her history with men has made her guarded and independent.
They both feel the attraction and pull, but know it is wrong due to circumstances, obligations, and the kids. He is effectively friend-zoned. But when danger seems to start lurking in the background, his protective nature cannot be tamed. He is determined to make sure that Teagan and her son are safe. And the more time they are together, the more it is obvious that they want to be more than friends.
This is the story of two people building a new life out of broken pieces. They are bonded in loss, but now tied with their kids. And now they are seeing that they both maybe have a chance at a more fulfilling future. But first Noah has some business to take care of to make sure that their small town life remains safe.
This book is more novel length than novella, and is sweet, romantic, swoony, and a bit suspenseful. I only read this one book out of the Seven Brides for Seven Soldiers series, but it was easy to read as a stand-alone. But with that being said, I did enjoy the side characters of Adam, Ford, Ryder, Wyatt, and Zane and hearing a bit about their stories. And there was a little Titan tidbit thrown in as well. The kids, Bella and Will, were just adorable and made this a cute and fun family love story.

It was obvious they both had past trauma and walls up, but ever so slowly they start to take them down bit by bit. This is a slow burn, damaged boys, hurt/comfort story about having to fight for your person, fight your own demons and their demons, and be willing to not let them get away. It’s not easy and it's sometimes frustrating. There are some mysteries that unraveled slowly, but this one did not have quite as much angst and the big shockers that the other books in this series have had. TheMax Lambert is the growly, grumpy, intimidating, big monster of a goalie for the San Francisco Sea Dogs and Everly Rosewood is the team publicist. They drive each other crazy and appear to hate each other while there is this simmering sexual tension and want between them that they do not want to admit. He is grumpy to her sunshine. Beast to his Beauty. He avoids the press, while she tries to make him talk to them. But he avoids the press like the plague and he has his reasons for not trusting.
But when he gets the news he needs to rehab his image, poor Everly is tasked with making miracles for Max. He needs to change his anti-social, unapproachable rep and improve his likability quotient to secure his place on the team and make endorsement deals.
These two have such feisty banter, undeniable sexual tension, and thrive on exasperating the other. But when he finally sees she is trying to help him, it just adds another layer of secret appreciation. And eventually it is going to explode one way or another. But they know anything more between them is a bad idea.
These two were so much feisty fun! I love a grumpy hero with past pain and guards up and then seeing more vulnerability. And Everly is an awesome heroine who hides her own past pain with a sunshine attitude and tenacity. They are snarky, stubborn, and living in a world of denial at times. It's fun to watch them fight each other, themselves, their demons, and their own urges and feelings.
There’s so much going on under the surface of this hockey player and PR woman story. Her past is gradually revealed and it has left her with mental and physical scars that have a huge impact on her life. And he has major trust issues due to his recent past. They’re working on his reputation with the media due to all of the issues and scandals, but along the way they’re also working on themselves and learning to trust someone, be vulnerable, be honest, and develop a deep connection that neither of them expected. And through that trust and connection, she is healing and becoming more comfortable in her own skin and becoming even more empowered. And he is also growing, not only with how he appreciates and treats her and opens up, but also that affects his ability to step back into the limelight and try to do the job that his team needs him to do.
They both had these sharp guarded outer shells in the beginning, but I loved seeing the cracks form, but then find ways to meld together to become stronger and help each other also become stronger. And even though the enemies part was fun when they were sniping and snarking at each other, even as they were developing feelings, they still had fun and witty banter, natural comfort, and companionship that they both needed but were afraid to trust that was possible.
But all of this is going on in secret due to rules, perceptions, media, propriety, and their jobs. It feels like the best situation for them but set right in the middle of an impossible one, and no matter how much they want and need to be together there will be challenges to get there. I loved seeing these two find such a connection, fight their demons, heal, and grow individually and together. I was totally enthralled with their journey and adored both Max and Everly. I am a sucker for a growly, beast-like hero who gets tamed by a badass beauty.
I loved seeing Max show his softer side where he is so patient, thoughtful, generous, supportive, protective, and loving. And Everly is so tenacious, smart, caring, and really comes into her own. I laughed with them, hurt for them, smiled, and swooned so hard! This book brings all the fun, witty banter, feels, spice, and just enough conflict and drama to make you keep turning pages. The also have great groups of friends and people supporting them along the way.
I enjoyed seeing the characters from the first book and cannot wait for the next book in this series.

She just has to face her former friend and long-time crush that she has not seen in four years and try to get him to cooperate. Lachlan West is a former football player and now single dad and new small-town Fire Chief.
These two have this history that they’ve never dealt with. They’re both a little stubborn and they thrive on taunting and exasperating each other. Those crushes are still causing conflicting emotions, attraction, and pining. And they did not think the other felt the same way.
She’s trying to be a professional, but he’s just really hot, protective, caring, and such a good guy. But he has big walls and abandonment issues. She’s sassy, funny, smart, sarcastic, and more beautiful than he remembered. But he still thinks he could never have her. I really liked them together. Their banter is snarky and fun and based on a shared past.
Close proximity and finally opening up will test and tempt them. They have chemistry, banter, and strong feelings. Glimpses at a family life they could share tease them because their lives and careers do not seem to mesh. And Lach is still not dealing with some of his past issues. He is this dichotomy of admitting his feelings, but then unable to imagine there is a possibility of a future. He has his reasons but sometimes I really just wanted to shake some sense into him. My heart hurt for them as they were taunted by what was possible, but struggling with challenges.
This is a childhood friends, longtime crushes, best-friend's-little-sister, grumpy-sunshine, second chance, single dad, small-town romance. It's about choices and priorities and facing the past to have any chance of moving forward. I am already intrigued by the side characters in this new small-town series, and I cannot wait for more with this group.

They both have demanding and dangerous occupations. And any of those things could explain the new target on their backs and the fact that they could both be in danger. Now they will have to work together to keep each other and those they care about safe, while trying to figure out which of the many antagonists could be to blame. It is hard to know who is friend or foe and who to trust.
This is full of suspense and danger from various sources with an unexpected new passion and relationship that runs full throttle. They are both trying to survive while also dealing with the past and protecting the new bond in order to hope for the future. But they are at risk for loving and losing if they cannot stop it. There are some cameos from old Titan friends and potential for more stories from this new group.

Aiden‘s been around in several books and he’s always seemed like this easy-going, goofy, adrenaline-loving cowboy who doesn’t take things seriously. But now we see that there is more to his past that has strongly affected him and his feelings of self-worth, and a relationship that he lost before it really got started.
During one of his adventures in the present, he comes face-to-face with that man who he hasn’t seen in years. Seth McCall was his slightly older mentor, friend, and secret crush. He helped him through a difficult time in his life and helped him gain skills and find a home. But then after some difficult events, he pushed Aiden away. Not willing to lose touch again, Aiden is going to use his big personality to just keep pushing himself back into Seth's life.
Seth has been isolating himself on his family ranch and avoiding the town and gossip. He’s tired, overwhelmed, and has not gotten over the events from the past. And being around Aiden again brings it all back.
I enjoyed seeing these two reconnect, finally start communicating and being honest about some of the past, and find an even stronger connection and hope. But these two have some deep-seated self-worth issues, challenges, and there are some secrets from the past still lurking.
These really are two broken guys who have been missing some of their pieces until they reunited, but now they’ll have to figure out if they can make each other whole enough to move forward and leave the past behind. But they have to both be willing to be brave and fight for it to do so.
This brings back some of characters from previous books but can be read as a stand-alone. I really loved these two together and seeing them start to grow and heal again after stagnating for so many years.

The small crowd of these two is shocked by the repercussions, but they decide that they’re going to face it head-on.
Mabel is no-nonsense, responsible, independent and she has the support of her family behind her. Joe is charming and handsome. He is supposed to be just focusing on hockey and he has sworn off relationships and never planned on a family. But this surprising news shocks and awes him. But he’s also been brought up in a good family with good values and knows he needs to take his part of responsibility. It was a shot that they thought was going to shatter their lives and it did send them going in a different direction.
They just have to figure out exactly what that is going to look like. He is a busy pro hockey player in Chicago. She is a small-town Cherry Harbor girl and museum curator who enjoys her deep family roots. But the more they try to organize life, the more things keep surprising them. I loved seeing them feel their way through these new situations and start to have to deal with messy feelings.
Joe Lupo totally won my heart. He is such a thoughtful, caring, protective, and generous hero even when he is a bit oblivious and confused about his own thoughts, feelings, priorities, and future. But now he’s got to decide whether he is brave enough and truly wants to take a shot at love as well. And Mabel is just such a smart, strong, and sweet woman just trying to do the best for everyone. They are so cute together and have such chemistry. I just loved them and found myself cheering them on in some of the most emotional and sweetest moments.
This is a one-night stand gone awry, surprise pregnancy, small town, opposites-attract, hockey and history nerd romance with all the feels. I enjoyed the cameos from both of their families and friends from the Melanie Harlow universe. I enjoyed every page of this book and their engaging, heartfelt, inspiring story.

He is cocky, privileged, self-assured, and morally gray. Elio has found himself a bit obsessed with an MMA fighter. He shows up at his matches, he pushes his buttons, and he may be a bit stalkery. And they push each other to the point of strong reactions.
Orion is a powerful, broody, MMA fighter who fights legit fights, but also underground ones because he needs the money. He takes care of his brother and he also has a lot of guilt regarding the whole situation. The fights help him release his stress and anger, and now Elio is helping with that too by either fighting or their volatile sexual chemistry.
These two are very compatible in their kinks and the internal rage and the deep feelings that fuel them that they manage to exorcise together. And now Elio has enlisted Orion’s help in a delicate situation, so they’re spending more time together and getting to understand more about what makes the other tick. Elio likes to just take care of things when he can. Orion is fiercely independent and doesn’t want to be a charity case, but it seems to be the best way to pay off his debt.
They have a brat and boss dynamic in private, but in public they are both intimidating and volatile.
There is a twist on the dom/sub dynamic, enemies-to-lovers, shared kink, and violence, but it’s a relatively low angst story. They help each other work through their hate, rage, and confusing feelings. They’re actually kind of strangely sweet and well-matched in a scary kind of way. It brings back the other characters from the first book and they are as intense as ever. I am interested in more with Sal, Enzo, Alessio, and Dante.

This was a cuteI find it hard to rate short stories because they cannot compare to a full novel and it is not fair to do so with the limits in pages. This was a cute short story where most of the build-up is in the secretly pining and preparing for the getting-together stage. Seeing both of them and how they’ve kind of got a little crush and sort of stalker vibe going on not realizing the other one is in the same boat was really cute. I really liked Bennett and Theo and their behind the scenes shenanigans. They are kind of adorkable and find common ground where they did not expect it, and then start to realize they had no clue what the other has been thinking all this time. It’s an age gap, secret crushes, small-town, quick little romance, and it introduces the new series in Copper County. ...more

He is a daydreamer who is optimistic, gullible, naive, distracted, and klutzy. He thinks he wants adventure, but in the thick of it, he’s a danger to himself and others. He thought it would be exciting to have someone like his favorite action hero come in and sweep him off his feet. Just when he decides to start taking more chances, he ends up in a situation where he is not sure what’s really going on and the communication issues from the man who picked him up don’t help matters. So with the mix up and after mix up, his decisions make things even more complicated and dangerous and he’s just kind of clueless.
Reed Sunday is exasperated. He was already in trouble with the Division he works for and he was supposed to be doing a good job to redeem himself with this new protection job, but it’s been a cluster since it started. And his protectee Chris doesn’t quite understand that he needs protecting. But at the same time that he’s completely frustrated, he’s also a bit fascinated and attracted to his pint-size chaos Chris.
These two are thrown into their own little adventures and they’re just trying to figure each other out, trying to keep Chris safe, and avoid attempts that derail them. Chris is an adorable, chatty, sweet, kind person who seems to make friends wherever they go. Chris's misconceptions based on his vivid imagination, cluelessness about reality, and misguided attempts to help sometimes cause more problems. Reed is a grumpy, stoic, untrusting, protective, capable agent. He has his hands full trying to keep his protectee in line. Copper County don’t know what they’re in for.
I loved seeing these two start to connect and actually see deeper into the other one's personality and eventually empower the other one to take risks that they wouldn’t have done in their previous life. They both have growth opportunities and it made me happy to see them supporting each other and kind of fumbling into this new forbidden relationship and existence that neither ever thought was possibility, but now that they’re in it don’t wan to think about it ending. But they’re also in the situation for a reason and it’s only supposed to be a short-term one.
This is a witty, adventurous agent and reluctant protectee, opposites-attract, finding love-on-the-run romance. It’s a spin-off of the Sunday Brothers with brother, Reed, and a neighboring small community Copper County (that is next to O'Leary) that’s going to be the start of a new Copper County series.
I enjoyed the small town settings and the sense of community there with the nosy, but helpful neighbors. I admit I haven’t read all of the O’Leary books, but there are a lot of cameos that fans will be thrilled. It also throws in some of the Sunday brothers and their significant others from Little Pippin Hollow. It’s feel feel-good, fun, rom-commy suspense story with shenanigans, sweetness, and two men unexpectedly finding what they did not know they needed and their place in the world.

Brayden Foster is an engineer who makes unique prosthetics and also runs the Ryan's House charity to build housing near hospitals. He is motivated to assist cancer patients since they lost their fifth best friend in the past.
Alex is a widow, owner of a medi spa, and volunteering for Ryan's House build. Their initial meeting is a bit interesting but they have chemistry and find their way to enjoying each other's company. And the weekends become more and more about seeing each other.
Brayden knows what he wants and is willing to be patient but also willing to go after it. I loved seeing him so ready to take a chance and falling for her. But she is older, cautious, insecure, and worried about perceptions including what her daughter would think.
Their story has ups and downs, separations, angst, a bit of drama, miscommunication, and a lot of conflicting emotions. The age gap, the insecurities, and the fact that they seem to be in different places in life make the situation difficult. It was a slow burn, frustrating at times, but also sweet and emotional. Poor Brayden goes from the last single man standing to a man not afraid to fall. But she is stubborn, fearful, and hard to crack. And there are some challenging circumstances.
I enjoyed being back with his friend group and their significant others and I liked her nosy and energetic best friend, Wells.
