This was my first time to read a book by the author. I quite enjoyed it.
Brutal story telling with the most amazing prose. Reminds me of what's going on in today's politics.

Example: Heroine plans to meet gang leader to get info she had convinced him to provide. Knowing he may bring help even though she told him to come alone, heroine happens upon a former Army sergeant who happens to be at hotel in the area. Heroine pays Army sergeant $1000 to risk her life by rollerblading by the bad guy and grabbing the briefcase with the info. Army sergeant does just that, then kicks bad guy with her roller blade while spinning the briefcase around and knocking out his accomplice. Army sergeant then skates into hotel and heroine chains the door closed behind them to keep the bad guys out of the hotel. And this is just one example of the ridiculous story line that Koontz has penned. Maybe if you like really unbelievable plots then you will like this. But couple this type of excitement with long sentences that use big words and your have a book that is simply unreadable....more

Each sibling is given their own date in private, and the novel follows each siblings throughout their lives as they live (or don't) with the knowledge they hold hovering over them.
Would the impending date loom over your entire life and cause you to leave in fear? Would you seek to live as full a life as you could, no matter how little or long you had? Or would you simply ignore the warning and live your life as you see fit?
With characters who each have their own distinct voice and narrative, The Immortalists is an excellent novel exploring the possibility of a known death in a fun and exciting way. There was never a dull moment as the narrative raced towards the death dates of the protagonists.
Intense and thought-provoking. This book is well-written and will suck you in to the lives of the Gold family. Highly recommend....more
