"He was the epitome of the perfect calm, right before the most dangerous storm."
-Bailey
I knew there was something about Nate DeLuca that I liked. In Combative we are somewhat introduced to him. In Redemptive we get to piece together some things we could of never known with the little bit of breadcrumbs McLean gave us initially in book 1.
“So you are afraid of me?” he asked.
“Yes. No. Maybe.” The corners of his mouth lifted and he bit down on his bottom lip, trying to cover his smile. But he was too late, I'd already succumbed to the full effect of it.
Bailey becomes and I almost hate to say this but she falls prey to circumstances. I'm not sure what she could of done to prevent it or change it. Things just happened so freaking fast at first that even the reader won't expect it.
"I feel your pain. I live your fear." -Bailey
Just flip me upside down and turn me all around why don't you.
What readers should know
Combative is a mystery in theme, in plot and even in its characters. It has the reader constantly questioning things. Who, what, where, when, why and how. Total mystery. Total intrigue. Redemptive is more of a mind catcher...meaning the story unfolds and you just get CAUGHT UP in it without consequence. Your flipping the page with one question. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
So yeah, total mind catcher. Redemptive will take hold of you, grip you up then against your will release you, with no idea of where to go from here.
Everything with these two(Nate & Bailey) is at an escalated level. Their attraction, their affection, their love, what brings them together, what fights to keep them apart, their will to survive is all at an escalation throughout the entire book. The whole connection is just WHOA.
Alright, alright I gotta shut it down cause I talk too much.
My thoughts
I was not expecting this at all. And there is not much you can say without giving too much away. The book starts and ends on two distinct separate levels of desperation. In fact totally desperate, it's palpable and it will cling to you.
The writing
Jay McLean has a strong hand when it comes to capturing moments and making those moments count for the characters. In turn these moments are impactful for the readers. I looooove this about her writing.

Suddenly, the footsteps stopped and I could hear the sound of heavy breathing outside my cell.
“Get. Me. The. Fuck. Out,” I warned. I caught a nervous flicker of movement to my right. Two men. Two men were pussying out of facing me head on.
“It’s him,” one of them whispered as my jaw ticked in annoyance. “It’s 818.”
818 is a killing machine a champion fighter who brings death to each opponent. Imprisoned at a young age; fighting is all he knows. When the book opens he finds himself being set free in to a world he no longer is familiar with. The only thing on his mind… revenge .
He has a name, he has a location.
Alik Durov.
Underneath was an address. Brooklyn, New York.
Below that, a motive. Revenge.
Lastly, there was a clear instruction. Kill.
Kisa is the daughter of a New York Russian crime boss, the “head” crime boss to be more specific. She is engaged to Alik the son of another Russian crime boss. Her fiance is a dangerous man named Alik…a man being trained to take over as the new head in the Russian crime family. Alix is the only remaining male heir out of the three top Russian bosses. There were two others...
The dangerously ruthless Alik is the five time champion fighter in the dungeon. An underground fighting ring that has the best fighters battle it out where the winner walks away with his life as the loser goes down in death. His character is scary to say the least. Real talk, the guy actually scared the crap out of me. I truly despised him.
F R E E D O M
A new fighter at the Dungeon catches Kisa’s attention. She recognizes him as the guy who recently saved her life. She finds herself drawn to him which is no good for her; especially because her fiancé Alik is CRAZY. LITERALLY. When he notices the attention she gives to Raze(818) he loses it.
Lies, Motive, Greed and Deceit play a HUGE role in Raze.
My Thoughts
Readers can easily begin to connect the dots with the characters as the story unfolds. You pretty much wait for the characters to catch up to what you’ve already guessed. I thought the twists were a little predictable. However this never took away from the book for me because it held this very raw, super intense tone. It was dark, twisted and gritty.
The Characters:
Alik makes you want to commit murder. He is a total psycho path and he controls Kisa’s every move while he walks around doing whatever he wants…King A-Hole all the way.
Kisa was too weak as a heroine for the mass majority of the book. She was ruled by Alik and this did not sit well with me. It was hard for me to connect with her because I was too damn busy being mad at her fear and lack of back bone. Yes, I understand that her circumstances were not good and in the end I just have to admit that she’s not my type when it comes to a heroine/female lead.
818 it took me more than half the book to really connect with him. The guy was lost after all he endured it was very much understandable. His character was like a caged animal. Once let loose he kept to himself though…Kisa was the one seeking him, he was drawn to her but was also hesitant.
- This book has both Kisa and Raze’s point of view. It’s dark, violent and may not be for everyone. As far as I know it is a standalone read.
My Ratings
Characters- Weak(Kisa) Determined(818/Raze) Controlling(Alik)
Writing Style- Fair
Plot/Storyline- A man being held captive as a cage fighter for most of his life is set free with one thing on his mind. REVENGE.
Steam Factor-
Entertainment Level- On a scale of Lo-Med-Hi I would say Medium
Overall- I liked it!

Young Ginny Lemon is abducted and taken out to the everglades of Florida where a notoriously dangerous biker gang resides. Living in what appears on the outside to be an old rundown motel. Brought to the leader, Grizz as a gift she fears of what will happen to her next yet somehow young Ginny plays it cool.
Stripped of her identity and given a new one, Ginny now known as Kit learns to survive day to day gradually adapting not knowing if she’ll ever be free from the biker gang...from Grizz
As time passes friendships are built, a relationship grows, secrets are revealed, loyalty is tested and Ginny’s abductions plays a huge role in the gangs life span. Bigger then you could ever imagine.
The characters
These characters are entrancing. Each and every one of them brought something to the table either good or bad or just plain crazy. Everyone held a purpose within the story, even if that purpose was to show you something about a main character. The role of the lesser character would somehow provide insight in some way. I thought that was very interesting but also clever of the author. In this I found the writing to be cunningly understated, it simply catches you off guard.
My Thoughts
When the book started I thought hmm not sure this one is for me. Next thing I know… I. CAN’T. STOP. READING.There is something about the voice, Ginny (the main character and narrator) it almost felt like an autobiography. Not sure if that is the tone the author wanted nevertheless it works. Ginny gives us a detailed account of her story and it truly felt like a movie playing out in my head on the big screen. **hint hint** I can totally see this on the big screen!
The other thing I enjoyed was the subtlety in the writing, it was smooth and I kind of touched on it above a little. The best way I can describe it is that it was like being a passenger in a car, you’re engrossed in the beautiful scenery around you so much so that you have no clue the driver is about to drive you right off a cliff. And this happens multiple times. I found myself cruising and then falling…Utter jaw dropping shocks to my system with each twist revealed.
My Sweet - Ginny's strength.
My Sour - Mo(The character) I can't say more sorry.
- This book is mainly told from Ginny's point of view though readers will get a surprise pov. This is book 1 in a series.
WARNING: This book does have a rape scene so readers beware.
My Ratings
Characters- Sweet-Smart-Strong-Dangerous-Deceptive
Writing Style- Strong, Clever and relatable in how the narrator connects to the reader
Plot/Storyline- Young girl is kidnapped and taken to a biker gang in south Florida, where she witnesses first-hand how dangerous they truly are.
Steam Factor- Lo Med-Hi I say Lo on a scale of 1- 10 I say 4 if that..Maybe 3
Entertainment Level- High, I found myself riveted, I was glued to my kindle
Overall- I loved it!

I don’t even know what to say about this book. It’s like being lead on the path of no return. Once you know all the players and what happened you can never go back. It will hit you right in the feels.
Gianna is a liar and a betrayer; her memory bank is where she secures all of her secrets…secrets that have been kept for over seven years. Don’t get it twisted, this was not always who she was, it’s the person she became due to events that transpired in her teens. To a young girl who felt she had no other way out.
No way out of her pain.
No way out of the love that still haunts her.
Her way out of the lies that seem to hold her.
No way out of the betrayals she lived through.
A love that binds
Raised in the small town of Shayla Harbor, Gianna grew up in a loving home with both parents. Her best friend Mack grew up right alongside her. The girls become inseparable as children, becoming more so sisters than best friends. Their parents are very close friends as well as colleagues so it seemed like fate that these two young girls would be as close as ever.
On the outside Gianna seems happy; on the inside she’s a total wreck not only does she start to experience those horrible growing pains as a teen but she finds herself trying to compete with her sister and best friend Mack. Whereas Mack is a good student with good grades and receives praise for it, Gia falters and struggles to maintain her grades. The good thing about the love that bonds together sisters is that Mack helps Gia whenever she sees her stumble and vice verse.
When the girls enter high school Gia get’s a boyfriend, experiences her first kiss and eventually has sex for the first time. It is when she falls in love for the first time one would think that everything is perfect. Only there is NOTHING worst then falling in love with someone you can’t have. Where the simple pure natural act of falling in love as a teenage girl seems easy Gia’s fall is a slippery slope that if not traveled carefully could end in DISASTER.
A disaster of lies.
A disaster of betrayal.
A disaster of pain.
A disaster that haunts her seven years later.
Gianna is hanging on by a thread away from family with no friends falling deeper in to a dark hole. When her past comes back to haunt her it brings forth more secrets. Secrets that swallow her whole. Gianna is broken…shattered…and she truly believes there is NO WAY to put herself back together again.
If I push and let go you’re done. And not so much as one person will know it. They will just think that you’re hiding. All you’ve ever done in your life is hide. Look ahead of you…do you see the clarity. Do you see who is in control?”
“Yes…” I sobbed.
“Should I let you go? Do you want to die?” he bellowed.
When I didn’t answer he pushed me forward and let go, “NO!” I screamed, as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me back in making us both fall to the ground with me in his arms. My body shook and I started to cry hysterically.
“Shhh…” he repeated my ear, “That’s what I thought.”
I clung to his arms like a baby, I clung to him wanting him to hold me and love me and tell me he was lying, I clung to him like he was my everything.
He rocked me back and forth, “Shhh…”
My Thoughts
This book is very raw and gritty. When it starts you are thrust in to Gianna’s present day darkness before being taken back to her past to learn what lead up to her living her life so recklessly.
The story flows well and packs a mean left hook as surprising secrets are revealed. I was kept on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the why’s and how’s behind some of the characters actions.
What you need to know: All readers need to be aware that there is more than just one side to a story. This is Gianna’s side, I suggest you also readShhh... Mack's Sideby Jettie Woodruff.
My Ratings
Characters- Crazy, Manipulative and did I say CRAZY
Writing Style- Beyond edgy. M. Robinson has NO boundaries
Plot/Storyline- An erotic thriller that has a young woman facing her past, recounting her mistakes and admitting her betrayals.
Steam Factor- High/Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 8
Entertainment Level- Lo-Med-Hi I would say High so many twist and turns my head spun
Overall- I LOVED IT! READ THE BOOK!

Talk about a punch to the gut..this book has the power to double a person over in pain. NO JOKE.
Past Imperfect is Brad Johnson’s story. Brad is the grade A a**hole readers had the lovely chance to meet in Present Perfect. Sadly this meeting was not all good, his character became strongly disliked. I thought “how on earth does Alison G. Bailey plan to redeem this douche.” While not impossible it sure as heck won’t be easy.
Soon after having that thought I found myself eating those words because it was easy for me to fall for Brad Johnson.
One girl and one night is all it takes to flip a switch in Brad. Albeit a tragic night..nonetheless it forces him to become accountable while simultaneously evoking change. He becomes a new man, no longer the Brad of the past. This is the man I fell for..the Brad of Past Imperfect
[image]
‘She was my vibration. Heat started to crawl across my skin as my chest began to tighten. What was wrong with me.’ -Brad
Brad’s in love *Grins slowly* And he knows it in the bottom of his heart. Like him, Mabry Darnell is a first year attorney at the firm, she and Brad have worked together on many projects and have pretty much danced around their strong attraction for each other. Even though she was warned not to go anywhere near him with his reputable playboy ways Mabry could not stop the intense heat wave once it hits.
And I’m talking deathly hot temps here people, enough to melt a human on the spot.
I doubt anything could have put a stop to these two coming together. Alison G. Bailey does a good job setting up the chemistry between Brad and Mabry. So much so that when you read the scene of how they first meet you feel it..LITERALLY feel it just like Brad does. It was then that I. WAS. CAPTURED. It hits you, its immediate and you just know. He found her. The one placed on this Earth for him.
Giving in to lust is easy but admitting to love can be harder to do. The unique part here is that Brad has no issues with telling her he loves her. Mabry on the other hand not so much she freezes up on Brad turning that intense heat they share into the frozen tundra.

“Everything about him turns me on, his body, his charm, his intellect and his humor.”
-Mabry
Who is Mabry Darnell?
When I initially meet Mabry’s character nothing about her stood out I actually had to get to know her before I could catch up to where Brad was. The more I got to know her the more taken I was annnnnd the more my heart ached for her. Mabry is a character you’ll find yourself rooting for. You want her to overcome the pain that she seems to carry around like a big blemish mark on her soul.
“ Why is there so much sadness in your eyes?” His question catches me off guard.
-Brad to Mabry
Without ruining the story by telling all I will say this. The sadness from tragedy can be seen in her eyes by the one who loves her. Mabry fears that she’ll be like her mother and her father is no longer a father in any sense of the word. This plays a big role in Mabry's life to the point where it actually controls her.
Brad becomes relentless when Mabry decides to pull the escape clause out on him. She claims that their relationship was supposed to stay fun and physical. Not hearts with talk of being exclusive. Yet, Brad’s unyielding wooing breaks through to her heart. And of course that is when the unthinkable happens.
‘My past is about to meet my present. Mabry.’ - Brad
My Sweet and Sour
My Sweet- Love. Love had its own starring role in the book. It put fear to rest and overcame the past. Love held tight, it may have swayed and bent in the storm but just as a palm tree does was firmly planted and weathered those storms life brought.
My Sour- Brad’s parents BandB (The Bitch and the Bastard) his words not mine. I could not stand his parents. In fact I HATE THEM.
My Thoughts
The story was emotional with a slightly dark edge to it. Readers get a dual pov and some flashbacks that help you to better understand both Brad and Mabry. I found that the twist lined up perfectly with the subplot which was very VERY emotional.
On a side note Past Imperfect has one of the best epilogues I've read in some time. Rarely do authors indulge us in the future of the characters we grow to love the way Bailey did in this book with this epilogue!
My Ratings
Characters- Sincere, Lovable and Sweet
Writing Style- Very Good
Plot/Storyline- A man who turns a new leaf by letting go of his former playboy ways finds that holding on to the girl that now has his heart may not be so easy
Steam Factor- High/Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 7

Cuba Hudson is famously nicknamed Hollywood by his class mates at Briarcrest Academy. His friends all think that his life is 'perfect' They have no clue. Cuba’s dream is to help people by becoming a doctor; he loves football and is well known for his position on the field. He’s all smiles and a big flirt at school yet it’s all a facade. The real Cuba lives with guilt, regret and pain and it runs deep.
NOTE: If you’ve not read the prequel to this story I highly suggest you do. I do not think you should read Very Wicked Things without reading Very Wicked Beginnings.

“Everyone says you’re pretty good on the field. That no quarterback is safe.” -Dovey
A Very Wicked Beginning:
Cuba is out on the football field when he looks up and spots a girl in a window performing a ballet piece. It’s the day his life takes a turn in a direction he never expected it to take. Cuba finds himself falling for a girl he does not even know. He’s positive that she does not run in his circle of friends. Still, he’s sure that he has most likely seen her before yet never acknowledged her presence.
‘Cuba was part of the beautiful people. I wasn’t.’ -Dovey
Dovey Beckham is attending Briarcrest Academy on a scholarship. Unlike the other students Dovey does not have wealthy parents; she does not live in a big fancy house or have tons of money at her disposal. No, Dovey has fought and earned her place as a ballerina at Briarcrest. As a matter of fact Dovey has been fighting her whole life just to survive.
‘Cuba Hudson, the hottest, richest, most popular guy on campus looked as broken as I felt.’ -Dovey
As I hinted at before Cuba’s home life is far from perfect. It’s more like a slow deteriorating..crumbling to the ground on which it once stood brick wall.
Cuba saw something in Dovey that day through the window of the ballet studio and he begins his quest to get her to agree to go out with him. She’s not really feeling it though and could care less about who he is. It takes some coaxing but Dovey finally gives in to him only to have her heart broken.
Cuba turns in to king of the assholes and I did not really like him for a minute there. I felt for Dovey, I truly did. He was a complete douche and it hurts. Then Dovey spots him, catches the look on his face and realizes that there is more to it then she may have thought.
Unfortunately that concern she felt towards him only lasts but a split second before she goes back to hating him with a passion all over again.
But does she really hate Cuba? I think not, home girl is ANGRY.
And Cuba? Well he seems to be in denial.
Dovey represents love and hope, something Cuba lacks but in her he sees it clear as day and believes it to be attainable.
‘ Between the day we’d met and today, we’d been irrevocably changed, altered into adults before our time.’ -Dovey

My Sweet and Sour
My Sweet- The Porsche, Dovey and Cuba in the front seat. No other words necessary!
My Sour- The scenes when Cuba is not being nice to Dovey :(
[image]
My Thoughts
I fell hard for these two. Both Dovey and Cuba are very realistic characters that make mistakes and react to situations in a way that only a 17 and/or an 18 year old would..Thinking you have no choices, no resources and no one to really count on. Yeah, that freaking sucks. I found it gripping how these two are seemingly opposites...were Cuba gave up and became numb to his feelings Dovey fought and refused to not feel anything. Instead she took what she felt and used it. Overall, the story was intense, at times sad, undoubtedly stirring and written very well.
My Rating and Why
4.5 STARS! I loved it! The story was emotional and filled with plenty of up’s and down’s. The writing is good. Ilsa Madden-Mills was not scared to take risks with her characters and I admire that in an author. It also makes a sub plot twist 10 times more interesting when an author takes such risks.
My Ratings
Characters- Lovable
Writing Style- Favorable
Plot/Storyline- Girl meets rich boy and denies him, he pushes for her to give him a chance only to break her heart because he is hurt and he fears love

“I have not broken your heart – you have broken it; and in breaking it, you have broken mine.” —Emily Bronte

This was not an easy read, Christine Brae dug deep and left pieces of her heart on every page.
LOVE-JOY-PAIN-PASSION-HAPPINESS-SADNESS-ANGER-HATE-HIS-WOUNDED-LIGHT
[image]
His Wounded Light will show you without a doubt that love can bring us together and it can sure as hell tear us apart when hit with life altering moments.
“I’m going to spend every night of my life kissing away your memories of him. I’m going to find places he never touched, places he never kissed, and our first times will be a thousand times sweeter than your first times with him. Isabel, you are the love of my life.”
—Alex to Isabel, The Light in the Wound
When I first met Isa(Isabel) in The Light In The Wound she was in bed with one man, Jesse, while she planned to marry another man, Alex, the next day. And she did, she married Alex and was happily married. When His Wounded Light opens Alex and Isabel are in Paris celebrating their 12yr wedding anniversary.
Told in three parts Joy, Love and Pain and not in any particular order. Given in three pov’s Alex, Jesse and Isa’s in that order. His Wounded Light takes twist and turns that I never expected.
My perfect family. My perfect life. -Alex
Alex and Isabel are happily married raising their two children. Each are successful in their own right. Their love radiates off the pages and it is truly beautiful. You know without a doubt there is nothing he won’t do for her and she for him.
While I listen to the sweet sound of her voice and feel the weight of her body on me, I’m once again struck with desire for her. I want her. Now. I want her when we’re alone. I want her when we’re not. - Alex
However we all know love can be tested.
“Isa, when we see each other again, whether it’s tomorrow or next week or years and years from now. Whenever you see me. Look into my eyes from across the room wherever I am, wherever you are, and know that I LOVE… YOU. That’s never going to change. Look into my eyes now and feel it. It will always be only you, no matter what, no matter when.” —Jesse to Isabel, The Light in the Wound
Jesse is Isabel’s ex, and he is still deeply in love with her and all he wants is his chance to prove that they are meant to be.
--But are they meant to be or is Alex he true love?
--Is anything strong enough to penetrate the love Alex and Isa have for one another?
--And if so what role will they each play in it?
You can lose yourself a million times over, but your heart will always know who you are. In every wound and place of emptiness, love provides a light that guides you through the darkness. It relentlessly seeks you out and stops at nothing to find you. Love always finds you. And when it does, it will bring you home. -Isa
[image]
The Story is very emotional I had to put the book down at one point while reading. It’s safe to say that I am very invested in these characters. By giving readers a panorama view with all three pov’s we get to know what Alex, Isa and Jesse are thinking and feeling and I FELT their PAIN.
My Sweet and Sour
The Sweet – Well that’s easy L O V E, in every measure! Plus all the HOT SEX Alex and Isa had! I’m Team Alex people!!!
The Sour – A character (view spoiler)[ Lucas (hide spoiler)]
My Thoughts
His Wounded Light proves that love never fails even if the people we love do. Do not feel mislead by my review, this is not a love triangle romance..well..not exactly. And unfortunately I cannot give clear details without spoiling the book.
The Writing – Brae, had a lot more sex in this book then the previous and I loved it!!LOL! Aside from that her growth was evident as she took unexpected risks with her characters. She also took the time to delve in to their actions and the reasons behind them.
Overall - Christine Brae did an AWESOME job.
I highly recommend this series to romance readers!

“I’m going to fuck that sassy little mouth of yours, Paige. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since the first time you told me not to call you ‘Damsel.’ ~Daemon
THAT is one of my fave lines!LOL!! LOVES me some Daemon!!!
M.S. Willis definitely takes it up a few notches in Conflict, the second book in her control series. And I am not just referring to the steam. The suspense and Intensity definitely had my emotions going in every direction.
My girl Paige Stone is used to her independence free unrestricted life. But now she is stripped of her ability to live life and ride her bike free because a psycho serial rapist stalker (Chris) is after her. And though the police are looking for him so far he seems to have evaded them.
In the mean time Paige is staying with Daemon and for some reason she would prefer that he treat her as a roommate and nothing more. The phrase bitch please came to mind when she said that tid bit.LOL! This whole strictly roommates thing causes some seriously pent up sexual frustration to take residence in her body. Both she and Daemon battle out their lustful cravings for one another and let me tell you, that roommate only crap does NOT last long.
Once they finally give in…
[image]
Hot steamy sex won’t keep a girl happy forever. Being stuck in Daemon’s house is not good for a free bird like Paige. Nope, in fact she starts to get increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress the cops are making. That’s when the story itself picks up. Paige gets a disturbing message from Chris. That ALONE incites her to come up with an idea and she puts her investigative skills to use to find the psycho serial rapist (Chris) herself. Then she goes and enlists David to help her.. To my surprise he does.
In between all of the good sex and how to catch a killer scenes Paige gets a phone call and she goes to see Annie. For those who have not read this series yet and skipped my note without spoiling it (Annie is her roommate who is dealing with some horrific issues from an incident in book 1). The scene between these two women is ABSOLUTELY HEART WRENCHING.
I have to admit it’s not her smartest move but a girls got to do what a girls got to do. Paige and David move forward with the plan she concocted to catch the serial rapist. Things quickly heat up and I do not mean in a good way as Chris and Paige come face to face.
And a secret that finally ties up the loose end from book one is FINALLY REVEALED.
My thoughts
I enjoyed the flow of this story more than I did the first. It was good to see the vulnerable side of Paige.
‘I didn’t like those scars. They made me feel weak somehow, like I was vulnerable enough to be taken captive.’
For me personally she came off a little too strong in her ‘I am woman hear me roar’ attitude. I enjoyed how Daemon tamed her wild spirit by letting her know the threat to her life was real and that to be scared is normal. I very much enjoyed the dynamics between Daemon and Paige. Daemon being the only one who can tame the lioness that is Paige; very nice touch Willis. It’s almost as if she held off on commitment and love because she was waiting for Daemon.
I also love the roles both Alex and David played, they are awesome friends! I look forward to book 3!
Special note: This does not end in a cliffhanger

In Control we meet Paige, a fiercely independent woman whose heart is heavily guarded. She was raised in an abuse shelter for women ran by her parents. This upbringing has brought Paige face to face with heartache on a daily basis. So for her falling in love and having a relationship is just not her thing especially after coming to witness to women who are abused by men that claimed to love them.
When the book opens readers get a flashback to a young Paige, and her best friend, a little boy named Buddy. We learn a little bit of what her life was like at the woman’s abuse shelter through her child eyes. Readers also get a small glimpse of that tragic day Paige and Buddy are split apart on her 6th birthday as she holds on to the promise he makes to come back for her.
Fast forward to an adult Paige who is 22yrs old and very much independent working as a PI. I loved the scene of her filming her client. I could actually relate to the scenario because my father used to be a PI and I vividly recall him having similar cases to the one Paige has.
Sorry I digress, moving on.
The Characters
Paige has two roommates David and Annie; both provide good laughs. Then we have Alex. Alex and Paige are “Friends with benefits” he is described as tall, muscular and tatted. YUM!
Riding solo
The main way of transportation for Paige is on her motorcycle. Can you say BAD ASS! The girl has no qualms with riding solo in any aspect of her life. After arriving home she briefly comes up to speed with her roommates activities for the evening ,she showers, gets dressed and heads right back out to Tomb, a local night club. Tomb, is her go to place where she likes to rock out to good music with live bands!
He was never part of the plan
Paige meets a bouncer at Tomb named Daemon after a…rescue…followed by an altercation at the bar. Daemon rescues Paige twice in one night. Whether she wanted him to or not… There is a whole lot of flirting and bickering between the two. I call that sexual tension because these two practically drool on one another. The bickering is mostly brought on by Paige and her “I don’t need a man to help me“ attitude. Daemon seems to take it all in stride though.
It because abundantly apparent that Paige liked what she saw because she goes back to Tomb after the disastrous night. However this time good music is not what she is looking for. Oooh no, it’s Daemon whose in the forefront of her brain this go round.
While Paige sits around wanting to act as if she does not want Daemon. He on the other hand makes it clear.
“If I had you, Paige, I would not only be with you; but I would own you, I would control you, and I would, in all ways, possess you.” ~Daemon
As you can see Daemon doesn’t waste time he wants Paige. And he goes after her.
“Are you sure you want this, Paige? Once I take you, there is no going back.” ~Daemon
Now sorry but I’ll have to stop there before I give anything away. Control takes a twist I never saw coming as Paige and the lives of those close to her are irrevocably changed.
My thoughts
When the book closes it leaves a BIG PLOT WHOLE with a very need to know unanswered question. Thank goodness I have book 2, Conflict. *wipes sweat from forehead* I felt that the writing was fair. The author balances sexy, humor and a little bit of mystery well enough to keep you turning the page for more!

Devon Ashley wrote a page turner that holds one tragic twist after another. My feelings were are all over the place.
The first 50% OH. SH*T.
The last 50% HO. LEE. SH*T.
I HATE ZANDER. Or…Do I? GAH....
YES, I HATE HIM. THAT…TWISTED. SICK. MIND FU*KING BAST*RD.
‘I’d never be able to forgive myself for failing to protect her, but I could lessen the hold that horror had on me, if she’d just let me in again. But I’d keep waiting. Because I had to. Because I couldn’t make her mend herself back together any faster than it was going to happen. -Nick
Nearly Mended picks up three months after Megan has gotten away from Zander. A rapist and stalker who believes she belongs to him. Megan and her boyfriend Nick are trying to regain some semblance of a life. Instead they find themselves living a life no one would want constantly looking over their shoulders afraid that she’ll be taken. AGAIN.
‘He was going to find me. He was going to try to take me. It was just a matter of time.’
-Megan
Megan truly feels that it is only a matter of time before this happens. These past few months she and Nick have been distant and it deeply hurts her. She can barely stand to be touched and knows that this affects him. In Nick’s mind Megan is EVERYTHING, he just wants the old Megan to come back to him.
Ahhh, the beauty of a story being told with dual points of view! **GRINS like a Cheshire cat**
‘Megan was all I ever wanted. The one must amongst some maybes. I could change my career, live a somewhat solitary lifestyle, even hide away in some remote location so long as I had her here with me. But in order for that to work, I needed the real Megan to show up.’ -Nick
*Le sigh* I TRUELY LOVE Nick! And you will too!
Things may be at a stale mate for these two in their relationship but he truly loves her and is willing to do anything for her. That includes working at a boring dead end job inside a small cubicle which is nothing like working a busy kitchen at a top restaurant as a chef. While his day to day has him stuffed in said cubicle hers includes a self defense training class and coffee with a fellow survivor from her class.
Nick and Megan have been doing everything right, they uprooted themselves and moved, they are watchful of their surroundings and have little to no contact with their families. But is it ever enough?
It’s not long before Megan’s worst nightmare comes true and this time it’s one hundred times more devastating.
As she predicted Megan is taken for the third time in her life. She plays along with his sick twisted game and in doing so she begins to feel things she shouldn’t.
‘My moans were immediate. Every traitorous part of me loved the feel of his dick as it filled me up and shared wave after wave of intense, jittery sensations to the rest of my body, all craving their new addiction . Well, every part but my brain. My arms shot up to cross over my face in an X, as if I could ward off what he was doing. I wanted to cry no and stop but my voice just wouldn’t obey – my throat too occupied with making mortifying noises as each of his jabs rocked me to my core. I was tingling and writhing and exploding and arcing and vibrating and fisting. So much all I could do was make those horrific cries of pleasure he thrived on.
“Open your eyes,”
he ordered. I didn’t. Right as he was pumping faster and faster against my body, he cruelly came to a dead stop, and my damn body had a vocal outburst lined up for that too, whining my discontent like a Grade A Drama Queen.’
Playing along means accepting him… She must ensure her survival only this time there are a few things that she does not know.
Important things that change EVERYTHING… including her survival rate.
“You know, I once read something in a book that’s really stuck with me. An officer will meet those women successful at protecting themselves. The coroner will meet those who aren’t.” -Megan
Character Breakdowns
Megan - Resilient, I have no idea how Megan continues to fight. Megan is the ultimate survivor. She is one of the strongest heroines I’ve read to date. The things she’s had to endure not many can and even few can call themselves survivors.
Nick-Patience is a virtue and Nick has that in spades. He is willing to do anything to protect Megan. He is determined, strong and caring. He also makes it clearly known that he is willing to do anything for Megan in this book. I cheered for him, I cried for him. I have no words for how much I love him!
Zander- A monster with a softer side? Quite possible. Hmmm. Everything is a game to this guy. He is OBSESSED with Megan. What I know from this book that I did not know before is that Zander is a master manipulator, highly intelligent on the tech side and extremely methodical. Never think you got one up on him. EVER
My Thoughts
Clever, suspenseful and at some points even downright disgusting, these are all words I’d use to describe Nearly Mended. Devon Ashley completely surprised me in this book. I found her writing strong, her characters cunning and the story kept me on the edge of my seat up to the very last page.
There is a character in this book that we never even meet yet he plays a BIG role in the major in parts of the story. You find yourself hating someone – a character unknown.
My only teeny tiny complaint is that there are a few grammatical errors which is something I usually don’t bring up in reviews. In this case it was enough for me to think about it while typing my review so in it goes.
My review for book one:Nearly Broken: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My Rating and Why
I gave Nearly Mended 4 STARS because the story and characters still weigh heavily on my mind and heart and its days later. Although at times I found myself cringing at certain scenes, my eyes remained glued to my kindle because the story is a true page turner.
My Ratings
Characters- - Complex, Sweet and Underestimated
Writing Style- Strong
Plot/Storyline- Girl is taken by a man obsessed with her. Only this is not her first time being taken. She knows the game and inwardly agrees to play in order to gain her freedom. However there are things she has yet to learn; something that will change EVERYTHING.
Steam Factor- HIGH/Very Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 8.5
Entertainment Level- On a scale of Lo-Med-Hi I say Medium
Overall- BRAVO! Great job Devon Ashley!
My Recommendation: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to dark romance lovers!!!!

The Mistaken definitely caught me off guard. Though it is not my usual choice in reading material the detour it provided was very much appreciated. The twist and turns right up to the very end had my mind spinning.
Nick and Tyler Karras are brothers yet they’re complete opposites. Were Tyler is the settled down good one, Nick is the one who parties who is always getting in to trouble or maybe trouble just finds him. Either way Tyler constantly has to bail Nick out of a jam and recently this trouble seems to be mafia connected.
In between cleaning up mess after mess his brother makes Tyler and his girlfriend Jillian get married. Now expecting their first child together life may not be perfect but the expectation of their newborn’s arrival has overshadowed all the bad. And thank goodness for that because things were really really bad at one point.
However things can change quickly in life and when Jillian is faced with an injustice and the cops do nothing... Everything starts to take a downward spiral as Jillian seeks to face Erin; the woman who should rightfully be behind bars for a crime committed against her.
THEN
[image]
All so suddenly tragedy strikes leaving Tyler a widower and desperate; in a place no man wants to be.
An angry alcoholic, with nothing left to lose.
‘There was no hope in my heart, no reason to stop my downward spiral and straighten out my life. The very realization only made me want to drink more. And I did, for the rest of the day and most of the night.’
Tyler’s younger brother Nick knows exactly what it feels like to be in his shoes and he feeds the demons that have a pidgin hold on Tyler. You see, Nick crossed over to the dark side a few years back after a life altering tragedy changed him. Pain filled drunken confessions bring to life an evil plan to hurt Erin.
And Nick adds fuel to the flames when he uses his connections with the Russian mafia help him and Tyler do the unthinkable.
The plan is to kidnap Erin and sell her into the world of sex trafficking.
And that is when everything goes super duper wrong.
THEY KIDNAP THE WRONG GIRL and it’s too late to turn back now because the deal was made, they must deliver the girl. OR ELSE.
Hannah…Poor Hannah my heart hurt for this woman. I can’t explain why but Hannah is The Mistaken .
Was Hannah at the wrong place at the wrong time? I think not. But what I think does not matter because once she is spotted she officially becomes the target.
Tyler can’t do it. He cannot turn Hannah over to be a sex slave and he vows to protect her. But how good is the word of a drunk, with nothing left to lose?
Running from the mafia brings Tyler and Hannah closer. But how does she know if she can really trust him. Can he correct his mistake and hand over the right girl in enough time? Heck, is that even an option now?
Slowly Hannah begins to fall for her captor, Tyler, who has wounds that are still raw from the death of his wife.
My Thoughts
Seriously people READ THIS BOOK! It’s different and as you read and see all the pieces fall in to place as the innocent lives of Tyler and Hannah are woven together. You will be left speechless.
The tension between these two brothers is crazy; you can definitely feel the jealousy that one harbors for the other. They love one another yet hate each others actions, this caused for some really tense moments throughout the book.
This Mistaken was high octane. There are moments when it moved fast and then moments when it slowed but the slowdowns only came in the first 30% after that the book takes off. So many lives are affected and so many emotions play out. Readers will get a little bit of everything

Two sets of sisters. Two different generations. Multiple stories.
Love.
Hate.
War.
Tragedy.
This is Block 24.
Bare with me, pleeease bare with me. I apologize if my review is all over the place, I just could not help it once I started typing it just poured out of me. This book has me twisted up in an emotional tails spin. I cried often while reading. There are certain parts of Block 24 that were so raw that I became sick to my stomach. Evan Tyler gives a colorful array of characters each provoking multiple feelings, each with a story of their own adding different layers to the plot line.
Two sets of sisters - Different generations - Two Stories
When the book starts you’re thrust in to the world of Natalie Clarke. It took about five seconds for me to figure out that this chick was BAT SHIT C R A Z Y. Natalie is ambitious and cold with a twisted way of thinking that does more harm than good. She carries her ambition out in a very conniving and calculated manner...meaning she will do whatever it takes to get whatever she wants. Lie. Cheat. Steal. In fact the word evil is what comes to mind when I think of her.
“There’s only a fine line between truth and deception. Whatever people buy is the truth. That’s what I say.” - Natalie
Do you see what I was dealing with here and that was only the tip of the ice berg.
Philip is Natalie’s boyfriend things between them are slightly confusing and only becomes clearer as you read on. Actually, now that I think about it her entire story line only becomes clearer as you read on. Readers are given bits and pieces of info as the story progresses because of this my first impression when I started reading the book was a big “WTF is going”.
Natalie’s younger sister Julia is her opposite. As opposites the two do not get along well though not for lack of trying on Julia’s part. Julia is kind hearted, warm, a bit shy and somewhat innocent. Everything Natalie is not. Julia wants to be a film maker and she’s currently on a mission to learn about her Grandmothers time spent at a place called Block 24 during the Second World War. She sets off to Brooklyn to film the story and this is where I became completely engrossed.
What readers should know: It honestly felt like I was reading two different books as the story goes back and forth from past to present. Sisters Natalie and Julia’s story is the present; Adina and Avigail’s past are woven in as Adina tells it to Julia.
War - Tragedy
Adina and Avigail Mortkowicz are separated from their mother one early August morning in 1944 Poland, when German troops invade their home and remove them. Their destination is Auschwitz though they do not know this at the time. Adina is the oldest at 17 and Avi is younger age 14; the girls vow to stick together no matter what.
“Look out for me. And I will look out for you. We can’t let the SS tear us apart. I need you to swear to me that the only way we'll be parted is by death.” Avi nodded, another wave of tears rising.
Along the way the sisters see a dear friend Jackob Adler.
Jackob is a character I will never forget, he will always be with me. He is one of three men in this story that will stay with me…FOREVER.
Jackob was one of many sons not the oldest not the youngest but definitely the smartest. He is very intelligent and considered to be a genius. He wears his heart on his sleeve. Even as I type my eyes fill with tears because I cannot remember the last time someone wrote a character that hit me so hard in the feels. His will to survive as his humanity was stripped from him BROKE. MY. HEART.
LOVE
At Auschwitz the sisters are put to work but no sooner than they arrive are they chosen to be moved to Block 24, a brothel for prisoners and SS soldiers.
During their time at Block 24 Adina and Avigail both fall in love with an SS soldier named Hans.
I FELL IN LOVE WITH HANS!
Hans is the second character in this book that is tattooed on my heart and is one I will NEVER forget.
“I'll pray that God looks over your sister. And over you. But you probably need less prayers than you think. The prisoners and soldiers don’t really want to hurt the girls. Trust me when I say that we men need you women more than you know. We need you for survival.” He smiled shyly. “I’m sure you’ve seen what savage animals we can be.”
“Yes, I have,” Adina responded, nearly smiling back. “And you may be an animal as well, but I suppose you haven’t shown me your bite yet.”
He smiled wider. “I save my bite for my enemies. You don’t have an enemy in me.”
Hans does everything he can to protect Adina and Avi knowing he is risking his own life by doing so.
HATE
Natalie hates herself and EVERYONE. Actions speak volumes and hers scream hate. She is very complicated, even with all the things I learn about her throughout the book I am still not sure where the hell all that evil came from. Her mean and selfish ways began in her youth and continued in to her adulthood without correction. She seems to care for no one not her mother, not her sister, not even her man.
‘Natalie had gone through a metamorphosis. Caterpillars were supposed to enter the cocoon and emerge a butterfly. Yet, shy, pre-teen Natalie had gone through cocoon of puberty and come out a scorpion. Julia had marked the stages of Natalie’s evolution.’
The only person Natalie seems to care for is Guy, her best friend. Only I found myself questioning her love for Guy at one point too. Nat had some deep rooted issues. She was hiding her true self by putting on a front for others to see. It took Philip time to realize who Nat was and that she struggled to love herself.
‘There weren't enough compliments or professions of devotion to satisfy women like Natalie Clarke. Moreover, he knew that nobody could remove the mask of steel from a woman except the woman herself.’ -Philip
[image]
My Thoughts
There is not a set structure to this book...not really. The writing style alone changes as you go from present to past. I’m curious if the author wrote it separate then combined or what because…WOW..just WOW. It’s really fascinating how you go from the chaotic hot mess of a mind that is Natalie to the pain filled journey recalled by Adina, to the sweet yet a little sad hearted mind that is Julia. Wish we could have gotten a bit more Julia and a lot less Natalie though, can’t even lie that chick drove me bonkers.
I cannot conclude this review without mentioning Wix Williams we get a small piece of the man he was and I would have liked to get more. He is another unforgettable character.
‘He made her forget her days in Auschwitz, serving her with kind words, touching her with gentleness, asking nothing of her but to be happy.’ -Adina’s thoughts on Wix
Special thanks to Evan Tyler for allowing me to meet the characters in Block 24!

This book ripped me apart. I don’t know any other way to put it.

THROUGH MY CHEST CAVITY.
HEART. RIPPED. OUT.
‘Myrtle Creek was safe, so small and inconsequential you couldn’t even find it on a lot of maps unless you zoomed in on a digital copy or bought a local fold-up.’
Megan Smith is a nineteen year old girl on the run after being held against her will by a man she knows as a family friend. Currently living in a small town working as a waitress at a diner, Megan has learned to lay low and make no attachments to people that could tie her to them or the town. Because… because he’s still out there.
In the process of breaking free and escaping her captor Megan is left with some severe scars on her body. Scars that have left her very self conscious. Of course the outer scars don’t even compare to the internal ones. After being raped daily along with the physical abuse and other inhumane treatment Megan feels as if she was left broken.
While on shift at the diner a female customer sees Megan and calls her by the name of Claire. Megan looks around assessing that no one else is present in the empty diner and tells the woman that her name is Megan. The woman tells Megan about how she is identical in looks to her little sister Claire who went missing a few years back.
Curious of the age difference between me and my newfound twin, I scanned the flyer. Born September 17, 1993. She’d turn twenty later this year, just four months before me.
The resemblance is uncanny.
We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?
Megan is on a one woman mission called SURVIVAL. After what she’s endured and escaped there is no way she plans to go back in to captivity. Things start to change when a young guy named Nick takes a job at the diner on the night shift with her. His excellent cooking brings in the customers. But its his good looks that bring all the local girls to the diner wanting to know who he is and if he is single.
Not much gets pass Megan, she is suspicious that he is not all he lets on to be.
Nick comes along and starts to get pass Megan’s highly constructed walls. She can’t help but start to fall for him. And neither can I. Nick shows her that when you fall for someone looks are not what matter it’s the heart.
Nick’s milkshake may bring all the girls to the yard but he only has eyes for Megan. And he makes it known. Things get serious real quick between the two. As they get to know one another she shares with him how she got scarred. Unfortunately he is not honest with her about everything.
When she discovers the truth she is devastated.
Nick and Megan manage to move on as his secret from the past converges on their future. They slowly begin to build a relationship. An all consuming relationship filled with love the bond they build makes them inseparable as she seeks to replace her bad memories with good memories.
And now I will shut up because the story takes twist and turns that you never see coming and I refuse to spoil it.

This book will make you feel like your throat is closing up on you, like you no longer have the ability to swallow..Breathe or even comprehend...

Reader beware
Some of these Characters are sadistic, amoral and down right cruel. If you are not used to reading books that have characters with a lack of moral compass then this book is not for you… This book is a heavy hitter, no hearts and flowers but PAIN & SORROW of epic proportions.
When I finished my feelings was in a tangled mess. Unsure of how to feel or what to think. Brooke was a seriously screwed up character... Her thinking process was mind boggling and it totally had me enraged at certain moments.
I think the saying is true... Guilt will make you tilt.
After the death of her best friend Beth, Brooke Wright finds herself on a mission to take down the one who did her friend wrong. Plagued with the guilt of her own personal betrayal against her bff, Brooke also finds herself haunted by a ghost. Beth.
After starting at a new school, which is actually the same high school Beth attended, Brooke discovers a secret club run by the swim team. Fantasy Slut League. The club uses scoring cards, were each girl chosen is scored by sexual acts given/performed on the boys. Knowing these same guys may have played a part in Beth's death she decides to take matters in to her own hands. By becoming a vigilante Brooke makes a decision that I never saw coming.
'I would purify my heart by becoming impure.' Inner monologue of Brooke
Can you really spot a predator???
'I realized I needed to look at evil in an entirely different light. Most bad guys weren’t walking around with eyes bugged out. Most bad guys didn’t come across freaky and frightening, hiding in shadowed corners with insane grins plastered across their faces. Most bad guys were your normal, everyday guys moving through life like anyone else. Going to school. Going to work. Going to church, even. They were hard to spot, and that’s what made them so good at being bad. They were sneaky. They could get away with it, and they knew it.' ~Brooke
Going after the schools bad boys prove to be more challenging than she thought especially after she decides to date Ryan. A loner.
The Characters
Dear Cal, Tim and Parker

Ok, now that I've gotten that out of the way lets discuss the rest of the characters shall we.
WARNING: Small spoilers ahead none will hinder your reading experience.
Beth- The small glimpses we get are of a sweet loving girl, she hit some speed bumps but finally found a guy she really liked. She was a good supportive friend with Brooke. She told her everything and was able to depend on her no matter what. I like how the author still gave her a voice even in death.
Gretchen- Loved this chick, she is fun charismatic and hilarious, she definitely kept Brooke’s ass in line. All girls need a friend like that!
Ryan- I LOVED RYAN! He was so caring and charming. You could tell he had secrets but I kinda overlooked it… He had it bad for Brooke you could tell from the beginning that he did. I like his slow yet sensual pursuit of Brooke, that was all kinds of sexy!
“I’m going to touch you,” Ryan said. “And then I’m going to taste you. Is that all right?”
“Yes.” I sounded like I was in pain, but it was purely sexual frustration.
Forget Brooke Ryan. TOUCH ME!LOL!!!
Brooke- One thing about Brooke, she had a great relationship with her dad. I enjoyed every scene with those two. Brooke also stuck to her convictions and I really really liked that about her character. Sooooo I'm not sure how to discuss this without spoiling it so I’ll just beat around the bush a little and try to explain my thoughts. I held a strong dislike for Brooke in the beginning, she was NOT what I consider a good person… What she did to Beth..
She made a bad choice to do something and then to continue doing that something until she was…caught. I despised her for what she did to Beth. I despised her for her stupid plan to get those boys who did Beth wrong back. Then..then suddenly I felt empathy for her. WTF?? I empathized for her guilt, I empathized for her need for vengeance, I empathized for naive notions on how to seek that revenge.
Along side the revenge filled plot is a slowly budding romance that had me melting like a cube of ice in a cup of hot tea. Ryan and Brooke had some very very steamy moments that will have you squirming in your seat. I enjoyed when these two were together and I wish we could have gotten just a little more of them as a couple.
Thoughts
Overall I think Walden did an awesome job at making Brooke human. None of us are perfect we make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes can severely hurt the ones we love. She was flawed her imperfections held a strong impact in the plot lines. Speaking of plot lines this was waaayyy out of the box. I did not ever feel like I was reading a story that’s already been told. This book gripped my attention from start to finish.
You know a book is exceptional when it has lines that leave you paralyzed...

“Melanie, there’s more.”
I shifted nervously in my seat.
“More?” He nodded.
“Yes. Ms. Solano alleges there was another victim.”
“Who?”
Detective Pendley cocked his eyebrows.
“You.”
Melanie Reeves is an All Star on and off the court. She makes good grades in school, has a killer jump shot and is dating the school's golden boy. Will Thompson.
“I love you more than life itself. Nothing you say or do is gonna change that!” ~Will
[image]
Finding love with a fellow ball player is just the icing on the cake for her. Standing at 5'10 Melanie is the captain of her varsity basketball team and coach T's go to player.
Then we have Mel's opposite. Jordan Solano.

'People avoided me like a wadded up piece of bloody tissue— including my two ex best friends. Even to the extent that kids crossed the halls to get away from me. Like brushing up against me equaled social suicide.'
Jordan is a teenage vixen, sex is her game, she uses her body and sex to get what she wants. And what Jordan wants is Coach T. A married man, father of the schools golden boy and the coach to the girls varsity basketball team. Things go bad real fast when Jordan realizes she will not be getting what she wants from coach T. Anger causes her to act out. She accuses him of rape, but due to her promiscuous ways no one believes her. Jordan doesn't knuckle under.. Heads start to spin when she throws in her game changer... She's not the only victim. She claims that it happened to Melanie too...
“We’ve never had an accusation of this kind here at Newton. It’s unprecedented.” Mom rolled her eyes.
“That’s all well and good, but I want to know what you’re going to do to the son of a bitch?”
Jordan goes from being not liked to most hated after the rape accusations are made. Coach T is loved and respected by the community, rape is well out of reach for their minds to wrap around. Especially when it's being associated with him.
' I realized I had a new enemy— the teachers. Not that I’d ever been a teacher’s pet or a great admirer of them. No, I already had a top spot on their shit lists. But there was a different feeling in the air. I’d taken out one of their own, and hatred for me simmered underneath the surface.' ~Jordan
While Jordan is being ostracized publicly, Melanie denies the charge calling it crazy. She defends her coach and fights for his right to keep his job.
Lies spin completely out of control and when the truth is unleashed lives will be changed forever.
WARNING:*This book is New Adult and contains mature subject matter. TRIGGERS for rape survivors and sexual abuse victims***
My Thoughts
*Sighs heavily* This book was a very emotional read.. I had no idea how to rate it..I flipped back and forth for days.
I thought the writing was good, we get two pov's in this book. Melanie and Jordan's. Readers are able to experience first hand the impact the rape accusation plays in both girls lives.
I cried for Melanie. She had to make tough decisions that would effect so many lives. Decisions no one should ever have to make. On the flip side,I was very shocked by the transitions and changes Jordan went through after the rape accusation. I would have never predicted her life to take the path it did.
“Are you trying to tell me you want to become a nun? Because if you are, I’m taking you to the fucking hospital right now!”
“No, Mom, I don’t want to become a nun. But I do want to change, and school is part of that. I just think the best thing for me would be to go to an all girls’ school. Away from guys— including teachers.”
I remember reading this and thinking "finally, the girl is using her brains." Also, I like how Katie Ashley put in some spiritual aspects without getting preachy. I venture that to not be an easy task.
Bonus: At the end we get Will's pov and I loved it! I love when the author gives you a guys pov!
