I don’t really get book hangovers but this one got me a little. I absolutely love Daisy and Harrison. These two were made for each other, despite being in different places in life. The forbidden aspect was so fun, and Elizabeth O’Roark is such an amazing author, her writing is addicting. I could not put this book down!!! The emotions and angst throughout were everything. I can’t recommend this book and series enough!!

Gwen and Xander work for the Manhattan Pops, and I thought their connections to it and how they both got started was so interesting. I really loved how Julie Soto unraveled Xander’s story. Gwen is an amazing character, I just adored her and felt for her and her past, and the manipulation that surrounded her. The passion these two had for each other and their music made this so enjoyable, I loved everything about it. I only wish I had gotten more of a feel for how he went from resenting her talent to falling for her so fast and wanting to help her, especially after not noticing her for a year. This isn’t a critique, but just something I was curious about, because I couldn’t get enough of them. But I also know how music can affect you from my own experiences. I felt like it was well paced and flowed nicely. I also have to shoutout the side characters, they added so much entertainment!!

He is introduced as being kind of a jerk in the first book, so it was fun to see other sides of him, especially the way he was with Lucy. Lucy has always had a crush on Cam, he’s her older brother’s best friend. But he’s always seen her as a kid, until she moves back home after college to open her own bakery. Their chemistry is addicting, I literally didn’t put this book down from start to finish. I love that he knew what he wanted and put her first, even over his friendship, and who he considered family. Cam had a rough home life growing up, and spent most of his time with Lucy’s brother and at their house. It was also so much fun to revisit Landon and Olivia, and Benny and Serena. This is full of small town shenanigans and so much love, I couldn’t get enough of it! When the book sells, she has to hire someone to be her book cover model. When her book becomes a huge success, things get a little tricky. It is smartly written, and in third person dual POV. It’s hard to believe this is Kelley Armstrong’s first rom-com (not her first book, but the first in this genre). I hope she writes more! Living in the Adirondacks, we have all sorts of wildlife around, so I could relate a little to the encounters that occurred, with Daphne living in the Yukon. The love story between Daphne and Chris is also very entertaining, from their meet cute to everything else that follows. Chris is so sweet and hilarious, although maybe not the best decision maker. But let’s be honest, Cole and Laila have an unhealthy obsession with each other for two people who are not in a romantic relationship. Almost four decades is a long time to be best friends with a person you find attractive and able to keep it platonic. But when they are faced with the threat of separation, Cole starts looking at Laila differently. It makes for some amazing chemistry, anticipation, and build up.

It is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. Between the dog and the grandma, there are too many hilarious moments to count. And the suspense! I definitely yelled “I did not see that coming” a few times throughout. The story is incredible, and Catherine created such complex characters, especially Anson. He and Rhodes have both been through so much tragedy, but his past has broken him. There are so many times when my heart broke for him and his outlook on life. Rhodes knows what it’s like to lose everything, but her ability to heal, live, and cherish those around her was inspiring. I absolutely loved being introduced to her family, all of the characters are amazing and I just know this entire series is going to be perfection. As Kat tries to turn her career around, she goes back to what she really loves, performing on stage. This was another aspect I enjoyed since I am a theatre nerd.
