When I get Arcs, or sign up for them, I'm expecting a good read. Sometimes, I'm let down, but when an author trusts me enough to throw their book in my lap, I just shake my head, and say, "You're crazy."
Why?
There is so much criticism!! I hate when an author almost steps on forbidden territory and then takes a COMPLETE 180 turn.
eh eh eh city of bones
blah blah blah what?
I hate it in books. I hate when and author has me so pumped and then I turn the page, and it's like they should just stop and write, "LOL FUCK YOU." So, most of my 1s are because of that reason, or for others which I won't bore you with. Now let's get to the nitty gritty.
SPOILER
i don't do spoilers, support the author and read the book for yourself, i'm not gonna tell you the climax, plot, and conclusion, so joke's on you sucka!
Sorry!
For real, here I go. Talking about climaxes, well there were a...few steamy bits
JAMES, definitely lives up to the NA genre, and I applaud Ford for her connection. She even makes it a quick read, which in this case was awesome! She gets straight to the point, and like it says in her author description, she writes what she wants to read. So you don't get a Dianetics book thrown at you here!
Rain, probably wasn't my favorite character, but she did keep the story flowing. Eve was eh, and Daria, kept the drama alive. Although with all this three way of girls, Ford brought along the boy threesome!
Holy Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ.
Lex was so fucking hard to understand, Ed was a little awkward, but James he was a fucking masterpiece.
When starting I was on the fence with James, but by the time I got to the finish line, I was rooting for him more then Rain. Was this wrong of me....fuck yes. I do believe that Ford set Rain up to be the protagonist and James the antagonist. I mean when we read we should love and root for someone and scream and yell at another. I wasn't like this. I read a James POV steamy scene to my husband and proceeded to through my iPad at him, because I wanted that lust and control James has.
Why I didn't like Rain? She was just a little to whinny for my taste. She wanted him, then she didn't. Back and forth, back and forth. Most of the time, I was screaming at her to just shut the fuck up and hump the billionaire.
she listened to me too
So now I'm done talking about the messy bits, and on to the ending.
I DON'T SPOIL, SO DON'T EXPECT IT.
I wasn't expecting it. I was at 95% finished and I had to stop and just, just....well:
yeah, didn't go to well when I got to 100. I guess I was expecting more of a 'conclusion' then I realized that the series continues and I bought that shit.
so yep.
then you're probably asking--if you got this far--why I gave 4s. one word.
Rain.
I just, I couldn't handle it anymore. I wanted a really strong female, which I like in a lot of books, but Rain was just like, here, take it. <-- you'll understand when you read it. If Rain just gave a little more chase, then 5s all around the clock.
