My own little addition to the list pretty much sums up my feelings for this book. Sure, there are a couple very relatable small annoyances, like for example having to use a pair of scissors to open one. But a lot of them felt neither relatable nor funny, so I felt a little bit disappointed. However I am sure that there will be people who will enjoy it a lot.
Best consumed in small portions I think.
Please note that this is the second updated edition, I have not read the first and as such can not comment on how much this adds to the original version.

I like cats. I do. Of course, I like my own cat best.
I also like humor. I thought.
Either way, this sort of magazine turned out not to be for me. Immediately at the introduction I was thinking, this is not funny, and it didn’t really improve. The humor was not my style, many juvenile jokes, but it didn’t seem to be aimed at children per se.
There were a lot of cat pictures, if that’s something you like. But I think you will also be able to find plenty on the internet.
Not for me.

This was a Birthday gift which was somewhat delayed due to Corona, but it was definitely worth the wait! I really enjoyed, as I always do with the comics of Tom Gauld.
They are funny in such a nice way, I cannot help but get a little smile upon my face whenever I think of them, or send them around to friends. This one being focused on science in a broad way, was something that made me like it extra.
Only small downside was that I already knew some of the comics, which can not be helped as I like to browse his social media.

Safely Endangered was a lot of fun! I wasn't really familiar with the webcomic, but after reading the book I'm sure I've seen some before. The comics were light and observant, and there was just the right mix to keep it fresh all through the book. Nice to see the references to many books/movies/games.
Enjoyed it a lot.

I don't follow the webcomic, but have come across a couple of them on the internet. However, I think, for me, this comic is best appreciated in small doses. There being so much repetition and them all having the same end, made that it got old very quickly for me. The style was also not really for me. But I guess it will be a nice collection if you're a big fan of the comic.

With Peanuts, you know you're going to have a good time. While we were fans of Peanuts at home, I never read much of the comics when I was younger. Thus, I'm having a great time reading many of them for the first time.
This volume focuses around Lucy, who is loud at the best of times and definitely in this one. As per usual, I much liked Woodstock. There is also some social commentary about gender equality which remains a hot topic still.
Would recommend!

Like most comics collections I read, I was not really familiar with Pie Comics yet. The title and the cover however suggested that it had to do with books, so I just had to read it.
It was not what I expected. I'm not sure what I did expect, but it was more than I got. Sure, some of the comics were quite funny, but many were mwah and they were not about books unfortunately. While it wasn't for me, I'm sure fans of the comic will appreciate it.

For those who have been following me and my reviews for a while - I like to go and see Shakespeare plays performed (I haven't read so many out of school and I rather not be spoiled when I go to see a performance). I have also watched the Star Wars movies (only once though). I thought this was a fun idea, so of course I started with Verily, A New Hope.
And it was a very nice read. It might seem very gimmicky and effortless, and the story is already all there, but I don't think it is such an easy job to put everything in iambic pentameter. It reads quite easily so it makes a quick read, but I think much of the fun will get lost if you haven't seen Star Wars or don't care about it at all.

As such, rather disappointing. The articles from De Speld remain funny, but since I've been following the site for years, it didn't add anything for me. It was disappointing after Nederland: Het Boek and the Binnenhof travel guide....more
There is not much more to say. The stuff is so random, but not in good way, that I have trouble imagining anyone liking this who's not under the influence of something.
