“You know,” Atlas says, his green eyes flashing, “that attitude is only going to make me enjoy your ending.”
“Right,” I fire back, “because your opinion on my attitude is something I care about.”
“No wonder you were rejected by all the males in your pack. That mouth of yours would scare anyone off.”
THAT WAS CRAZY. The man knows that she got rejected and no one wanted to claim her as a mate and still called her out on her attitude. It had potential, considering I didn’t DNF. It got bad once Atlas showed interest because he had a complete personality change. He was introduced as the alpha heir grump, but suddenly he (1) Asked Nyx to fake-date and then kissed her (2) Claimed her in front of the school (3) Jealous of Tobias (4). It did not align with the Atlas that didn’t want to train the new recruits, but suddenly he likes one? I don’t understand how he went from being a grump, to calling Nyx “doll” and acting flirtatious. It would have been great to see some prolonged tension during the training, but the fake-dating presented itself too early. There was no reason Atlas should have needed her help, there was no urgent need. He didn’t need to be possessive, it was not cute — it was weird! His behavior was not attractive, it was a major red flag. He came on too strong and I don’t understand how they fell for each other, if they knew each other for less than a day. Suddenly knew he wanted Nyx to be the one to be his fake-girlfriend? Be serious.
“She doesn’t have anything to worry about,” I mutter dryly, my eyes fixed forward.
“Oh, she does.”
Why does the ex-girlfriend have something to worry about when Nyx and Atlas have known each other for less than a day, and suddenly, he chooses her as a fake girlfriend? The pacing is BAD, and the dialogue is even worse. ONE DAY.To make it worse, he has this cocky attitude claiming that she is going to beg him soon for sex when they just MET. Where is the chemistry? I am mad because the tension could have been decent if the pacing was way slower. Instead, they all have forced dialogue and made-up tension. He sees it as a beneficial agreement to fake date because he gets a fake mate, and trains her properly, and people won’t mess with her. I’m just annoyed that he brought this up so soon. He seriously could have waited at least a WEEK to decide that he needed her instead of calling her a doll after being a broody grump. A real grumpy alpha male would let that slip much later on.
“She’s mine. If anyone dares to touch her, you deal with me.”
The alpha heir just claimed me in front of the entire academy.
THIS IS BAD. Absolutely no one cares that this man claimed you in front of everyone. No chemistry, no tension, no angst….BORING. These two have nothing remotely interesting about them and they are just doing this because it’s beneficial now. What gave Atlas the idea that she was the one for him? I wasted my time with this book foreal.
“I know. You haven’t paused to even think about it, but you will, and I will wait,” he interrupts. I’m speechless for a second, and I clear my throat. “Tobias, I’m sure that there is someone absolutely perfect out there for you, but it’s definitely not me. You’re very handsome, but I just want to be your friend.”
“I might be reading this wrong, so stop me if I’m babbling, but I just don’t feel that way—”
Tobias meets her on the first day, and suddenly, he’s upset because he likes her, but she’s “dating” Atlas. What was so special about Nyx that had these two men wanting her. I don’t understand. There was no connection; she was not a great FMC, and quite frankly, the development of her having light magic was nonsense. Tobias knew nothing about her besides being new, and suddenly, he was ignoring her because she didn’t realize that he liked her, and he thought they had something…COME ON

Donatella Dragna has escaped her father, and just experienced the magic of Carava**spoiler alert** ✩‧₊ 3.25 stars ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
・ 。゚☆:Legendary *.☽ .*:☆゚.
Donatella Dragna has escaped her father, and just experienced the magic of Caraval but now she still has a deal to uphold with her mysterious “friend” who promised the knowledge of her mother’s whereabouts in exchange for Legend’s identity. To do that, she needs to win Caraval and provide Legend’s name to the Prince of Hearts, or else his kiss will be deadly and Tella can lose everything she worked so hard for since she arrived. Jacks The Prince of Hearts is rumored to be a murderer who is only out for the throne, so when Dante, tangles up Tella in a web of lies, now everyone thinks Jacks and Tella are engaged and he forces her to oblige for the sake of his reputation and because she’s his “friend” that holds the truths to her mother’s whereabouts. Now Tella has to play the game, even though everyone is telling her its real now and different then before, worse – she has to fight to stay alive.
─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───
I will be honest. I didn’t like Tella in book one, and I was disappointed when I figured out this was primarily her book until her backstory continued, and I understood why she did everything. She is just a girl looking for her mom and wants to know why she left unexpectedly. If anyone is going through it, it’s Tella. It seems like everyone is against her finding out the truth, and each person is playing games with her, which makes sense because of Legend, but still, she can’t trust anyone even if she wants to. This book introduced Jacks, so now she has feelings for Dante from book one, where she slept with him and woke up next to him, but she feels she is incapable of love because she assumes it’s her destiny. Yet, now she has to be in this fake-marriage arrangement with Jack because he is blackmailing her. To make it worse, I love this man. I don’t know what it is about the blonde flirty villains with no moral compass. He still had me hooked from when he was rude to her on the carriage and told her to get out. I never said I was okay! He shouldn’t have been introduced looking so attractive. What do you mean “Even his rumpled velvet tailcoat appeared bored as he lounged against the plush leather seats. Now I’m in love with this arrogant blonde – yes, that is all it takes for me. He only got progressively better when he had this self-deprecating attitude about life; that’s how I love them! The entire time I was like, why does Tella hate him? But then I was like… oh yeah, he is blackmailing her and threatens to kill her – but the potential for enemies to lovers is there, I don’t care!
Of course, she fell for Dante because that man is also terribly attractive and I don’t blame her. He has this alluring presence about him which makes sense now – considering the reveal that he is Legend. I feel so dumb I’m not even going to lie. The entire premise of Legend is that he makes people feel special and he leaves people all heartbroken, and Dante has been a flirt from the beginning and everyone is drawn to him, now I feel silly for not connecting the dots. The reveal gagged me because what do you mean the winner gets to see Legend, and Dante is the only one in the room. I am a CLOWN. Watch it not even be him and this is another game, I actually cannot trust anyone in this series. It is so twisted but definitely fun to read about, I love it. The reviews for this series isn’t great and I don’t know if it’s because of the magical aspect that I’m obsessed with, but the romance isn’t even my favorite portion. I love all the mysteries and Tella discovering the truth about her mother, while Jacks continues to be a menace. It all serves its purpose. I did like the first book more, but this one was great too.
For it was also said the Prince of Hearts was not capable of love because his heart had stopped beating long ago. Only one person could make it beat again: his one true love.
BUT WAIT. Tella made his heart beat… so that had me on the floor. He claims not to love her, and they didn’t have enough interactions to suggest that was false, but maybe he likes the idea of her, which did the trick. Either way, TellaJacks is intriguing, and I want to read more. If she doesn’t want him, I do! There was a part in the end when Legend had already left Tella, and Jacks swooped in and told her she should have expected less from Legend because he was never going to change. The point is that I care more for Jacks than Dante. Even though Dante was introduced first, Jacks has a more interesting personality and I think him being a Fate makes me more interested. Especially with him seeking his one true love, even though there’s a chance it might be Tella? I’m just here for the vibes.
“I made a mistake, Scar. I never wanted to fall for anyone, but I think I’ve fallen in love with Legend.”
I would like to say that I wouldn’t fall for Legend but I would. I would be that much of a clown, even after everyone has warned me not to. Tella fell for Dante and he made her believe he was there for her, and then he walked away. However, what part of him was real? Does he actually like her or was it all an act? I can’t tell which part of him is authentic because Legend has always been known to play games.
“There’s somewhere else I need to be. And, no matter what this looks like, I’m still not the hero in your story.”
Then again, he’s never given her false hope. From the start he gave her hints so who’s fault is it that I still cant take the truth. I wouldn’t say I love Dante and Tella but they do have a bit of chemistry, I just think I like her scenes with Jacks way more. I keep thinking about how he helped Tella when she couldn’t even move and told her not to cry over Legend. He can say he’s heartless and has an inability to love but I think a part of me is soft for her. I’m the girl who lives in delusion! ...more
