When I was in the halfway I was thinking of giving five stars but the end part of the book became a bit too tedious. The ending was the opposite of abrupt. There were too many many pages explaining and going through wha really had happened and who was who and who scammed who.
I have a feeling that the author was afraid of writing really big twists and getting the main character into really big trouble. Everything happened a bit too smoothly and the ending was almost too fluffy. ...more

Rich toxic housewives gossiping and drinking too much. An alcoholic main character. She drank a lot. And drove around the small town, talking to these insufferable people 90% of the time. Then comes the revelation and later comes the twist. The End. What a boring book!

I would never ever give it to a child to read because of the distressing scenes with the boy and her mother. I would have had nightmares had I read the chapter that took place in London and what the mentally ill mother did to him when I was a kid.
This was another book about England during and after the WW2 written from the point of view of ordinary people living their everyday life. It was a pleasing read....more

The book is strange mixture of mind blowing ideas and 70's attitudes, sexism and bullshit. The first page tells us a lot: a man having a girl's name, oh dear, isn't that funny? A robot psychiatrist? Psychoanalysis and Freud were probably a big thing back then.
There are lots little things that show that the book is so old. Five people travelling in a small space capsule, what does the main character do? Smokes a cigarette, for heaven's sake! Everyone smoked back in the 70's but even if the author is stuck with his decade he could put his scifi writer hat on and think what is practical in space and not.
Also, there is lots of 70's "liberal" sex *blush*, swinging and group sex *giggle* and even homosexuals *gasp*! This is a very outdated book with a very unlikeable main character....more

It is so terribly written, I have read dozens of Harry Potter fanfiction stories that are much better written than this thing. The characters are paper thin. I have no idea what was going on in the main character's head, I just read what she did. A bit more clever character could have possibley made the book more readable.
The cliches made my mind hurt. A woman wakes up in a hospital and they call her by someone else's name (Who is Maud Dixon?). A woman takes another identity to escape her abusive husband (The Last Flight). The narcissist husband (several books). I feel that someone read several women's thrillers, then cut and pasted the cliches, put them together and wrote like a teenager would write....more
