Make sure you read the trigger warnings because this one hits all the right buttons. A more detailed review will be updated once the release has dropped but be sure to keep this book on your radar. Especially for those that love dark romance.

Daughters of the Rose is a dark fantasy "prequel" to the Tales of the Black Rose Guard series but should be read in the proper order. It takes us backDaughters of the Rose is a dark fantasy "prequel" to the Tales of the Black Rose Guard series but should be read in the proper order. It takes us back to the past before Mara and Edward were leaders in the current time, so it is wise to read them in order.
In this book, you will learn what transpired in the beginning and what created the monster that is now Queen Clarissa. You will cry. You will laugh, but you will then cry again. The sadness is overwhelming and tragic. The story is beautifully written.
KL Bone does not disappoint and she will leave you yearning for the next book in the series. 5 stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat! This review was done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official's book blog.

Her books are entertaining and action-packed I always look forward to her next release. . Melanie Karsak stopped my heart and restarted it again and again. With her words of exquisite emotion and haunted despair, I was left with empathetic feelings for our circle of beloved characters. She has yet again sealed her fate as a passionate fantasy wordsmith. . This review was done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official Book Blog! #theNerdGirlOfficial #NerdyBookServices

This is the first book I have read from Keira Montclair and I am sure I will read more from her. The pace of the book was a bit slow for me. I like a lot of action but I did enjoy the chemistry between the main and side characters. . In this book, Clan Matheson is in desperate need of a healer. Upon hearing there are two skilled healers in two really strong clans, Matheson decided to kidnap them to help his dying clan. Especially his young daughter. Once kidnapped the three ladies (yes three instead of the intended two) were taken on a journey all the while not knowing precisely who had them in their clutches.
Once they arrive at the small ill clan, their training kicks in and they are as desperate to help Clan Matheson as the laird. There is an interesting twist to this story and it was well placed that I didn’t see it coming.
I gave this book 4 stars. It was an enjoyable read. I tip my Nerd Girl Hat to you.

I have read many books by the wonderful word weaver, Sarah M. Credit. The Raven and The Rush is one of my favorites. Nestled within the Kingdom of White Sea realm, this book is a gut-twisting “rush” (no pun intended) and sends the reader’s imagination soaring. . Sarah M. Cradit weaves beautiful colors and textures into a story so magnificent that even the most experienced reader gasps in awe. The Raven and The Rush is an impressively beautiful chronicle of the silver-haired Ravenwood and her mortal love. Do not hesitate to pick up this book for the cover is not the only thing resplendent about the book. Fans of Sarah J. Maas will fall head over heels for the majesty written within its pages. . 5 Stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat! I adore anything that has to do with this world. A friendly reminder, this book is a standalone novel within the Kingdom of White Sea world but I do recommend reading the original three Kingdom of the White Sea books. They are easily one series I will revisit on a rainy day, snuggled in a comfortable blanket while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

This wonderful fantasy set in the Court of Bitter Thorn's world will have epic fantasy fans mystified. . In this spinoff set started, Chloe gets her own book along with her fae male. Utilizing her apothecary knowledge she sets off with Quintus to save the fae from the mortals. . I read through squinted eyes. The only light in the room came from my kindle. My sleepless night was worth every moment. A night well spent. Flame of Crystal Thorn is a thrilling read for all fae lovers. Holly Black and Elise Kova fans would be delighted! FoCT was captivating and expertly written with every word like a delicate melody with a powerful beat. Transport yourself into the pages of the book and you will devour it as I did! You will not regret it. 5 magnificent stars . ♥️ Gladys #XOXOtheNerdGirl for Nerd Girl Official...more
If we take a dash of The Folk of Air series by Holly Black, a splash of The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, a cup of The Married to Magic seriIf we take a dash of The Folk of Air series by Holly Black, a splash of The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, a cup of The Married to Magic series by Elise Kova and put it in a blender you would get the perfectly delicious masterpiece written by Alisha Klapheke. Even though the Kingdom of Lore - Underworld duology is a spin-off of her stand-alone in the Kingdom of Lore books, I highly recommend you read those in order! STAT! I say this because you can’t miss the snark, wit, and wordplay of the previous books and the superb character and world development that carries over to the first part of this duology. . If you have ever read any of my reviews you would know that my main thing is character and world development. She has not skipped a beat with Stolen by the Shadow King. In this book, you will meet characters from the previous books and their interactions are vital to the story. BECAUSE the love that Maren, the main character, has for her chosen family is what fuels her determination to aid the dying land. Well, that and she actually cares about humanity. The Shadow King himself is dreamy with an edge to him as sharp as an ancient magical sword and his devotion to his people is also noteworthy. The fact that he is handsome and dangerous helps tremendously. Aside from the main characters in the ARC. The sleazy characters make you itch and the loveable secondary characters are the balm to remedy the itch. . Alisha is such a descriptive writer that each character lept off the page. Each hit of magic or slash in battle was felt on my flesh and I cried a few times from despair and sheer joy!! You know depending on who got hit? The lush scenery was written with the mind of a true fantasy writer. BRAVO, Mrs. Klapheke, BRAVO! . I most definitely give Stolen by The Shadow King five stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat! This book will be one of the fabulous fantasy reads of 2022!! . **This review was done in conjunction with the Nerd Girl Official book Blog....more

I am a huge fan of Tara Grayce and since I love the Elven Alliance so much I found through her newsletter that she was writing a novella for the Stolen Brides of the Fae series. I jumped right into the Stolen Midsummer Bride once it was released on KU and was utterly delighted. Once I finished I even ordered the paperback. I hope she writes more in this world as it was beautifully crafted.
In this novella, we have Basil, an assistant librarian at the Great Library of the Court of Knowledge who doesn’t want to go to the Court of Revels to find a mate after a bad experience a few years before. After speaking to his trusted friend he agreed that finding a human bride to steal would be all the more agreeable than to suffer the humiliation of the festivities. He didn’t think he would find a bride already waiting for him. Meg was not what he had in mind when he found her ruffled and she wanted to be stolen away. He found that she couldn’t read but was highly intelligent in her own right.
Resigned to his fate, Basil took her to the great library forgetting to tell her about the Realm of Monsters that will be unleashed when the barrier is thinner during Midsummer. All the while, Meg is trying to figure out a way to help her family back home, she and Basil just have to survive the night.
I ENJOYED this book so much. It was beautifully written and had me laughing a lot. 5 stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat.

I enjoyed her characters so much and her world-building was excellent. There are some twists and turns (one that even I didn’t expect) but that makes life and books more enjoyable.
In Stolen Mage Bride we have two mortal enemies who have challenged each other in a duel. Our deadly fae king, Lodírhal, wanted to finish this war by trial by combat instead of subjecting his people to more death and destruction. The human mages have decided to bring back their fiercest warrior through a vassal, a young plant mage named Dasyra. Once on the battlefield, King Lodirhal’s mating bond snapped. He was rattled by fate’s irony and remembered what was foretold when he was a young babe.
Refusing to push the foretelling aside, his people's land and the odd girl that brings out more in him than his people's survival, he steals her away to go on a quest to break the fated bond. Read on friends and foes! Enjoy it as I have. FIVE stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl Hat.
