You know the feeling when you read something amazing and want more but alas the next installment doesn't come out any time soon? Yeah this was one of those reads for me. That's why I like reading my series when they are all finished. I don't have to agonizing months and then forget why I liked the previous book in the first place. Probably noticed not a fan of re-reading my already read shelf unless it's a cupcake book.
So all things aside specially the fact of me not getting my fat grubby hands on the next book, this was excellent. Again the book cover, it's always been a put off for me and no Zombies did not look like that from what I gathered. So yeah if you are a fan of Zombies, this is a must read. I am a sucker for good YA, I usually find myself reading YA with fluff and paranormal theme. A Healing Heart was a great change to that stereotypical reading.
What attracted me most to the book was the word building, and Melissa did a great job bringing her characters to life. Making them so believable. I simply adored reading about Collin and Bailey, my only complain is the story ended to soon.
What I struggled with was, sometimes character would go on a bit longer than necessary with their own monologue, making it hard to stay focused. Other than that it was a pretty solid.
If you are looking for a quick, well put together YA romance, A Healing Heart is worth a shot. ...more
After reading All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins, way back when.. I promised myself I would read more from this author. When I picked up my copy of After reading All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins, way back when.. I promised myself I would read more from this author. When I picked up my copy of Just One Of The Guys, and after reading it's synopsis I was sure this would be another WIN. But sadly it wasn't.
I have mixed feelings towards this book really. The setting in a small town, independent girl Chasity bordering on her thirties, looking forward to settle down with someone she loves and a half hound-dog, half bull mastiff named Buttercup. BIG family, always an A+ in my book. Specially when she is the little sister of the clan. I know me and my siblings are very protective of our little brother :) So as I was saying BIG family with lots of nieces and nephews, great career and the only thing Chasity is missing right now is a husband and four kids.
Yeah absolutely perfect for a contemporary romance theme. And so far I am in love with the entire thing. Now we come to the love life. In one side we have the fireman she had always loved since Chasity could understand the meaning of the word love. But he practically lives with his family sooo he was sortta like another son to her parents. And she doesn't want him to feel weird so they keep their distance but I swear there is something there. I am sure of it, and then in the other side we have the New York Times doctor with perfect cheekbones who just happens to waltz in Chasity's life. So who is the perfect suitor? Should be pretty clear right? WRONG! And I am still okay.
Now is the time everything gets outta hand. Till almost end of the book everything seems to go somewhat smoothly with one of these 'suitors', and it was fine and dandy too, until ....until there was this triangle limbo. I like reading about a healthy love triangle like any other reader, but this was just twisted. I had no freaking clue who was suppose to be it for Chasity and it was just not that great like I hoped it would be.
At the end I just have to say Just One Of The Guys was really disappointing, not comparing to Higgins' other work, but the triangle just put me off big time. Miss Higgins has written lots of great books, in fact All I Ever Wanted was one of my cupcake worthy books....more

A Fall Of Water, is final installment of the Elemental Mysteries series. I have been sticking with this series from the very beginning and I am really glad that I stuck to it till the end. I still remember reading about Beatrice and Giovanni meeting for the first time in A Hidden Fire. Tenjin, Carwyn, Dez every one throughout these books have grown on me. And in A Fall Of Water, Ben has been one of my favorite character to read about. He is just a big sweetheart and I want more about this Vecchio.
The last book goes into a bit deeper in the vampire myth than the previous books. Revealing more about the elements of the vampires and the power to manipulate it. One of the main thing that was fascinating to me was Giovanni's vampire bloodline, at the end I felt like learning more of the ancient vampires history. But hats off to Miss Hunter for bringing this awesome characters to life and thank you so much for introducing me to them.
It breaks my heart to say goodbye to the characters and this story but this was really one of the perfect ending for a series. If you are a fan of paranormal vampire novels, Elemental Mysteries is a MUST read.

And as you might have noticed I am in a contemporary high lately, so The Genius and the Muse by Elizabeth Hunter was an awesome edition to my contemporary read-fest.
Miss Hunter's writing style always connects me to her stories, her characters. Ever read something like, you know when you get invested in it so much that it's hard to put down? Well her writing is that way for me. The Genius and the Muse is one of those stories which I just couldn't put down till I was done. The storyline the characters are all so compelling that when I started reading it at 4 in the morning I couldn't stop. I had to finish. Took me about a little over 12 hours or so. Absolutely worth it.
What I LOVED the most was, Kate and Javi, hands down. The story started off with Kate, a grad student at Foothill sort of obsessed with the famous photographer Reed O' Corner. I have to admit for a page or two I thought there might be something between the two. But as I read further it was clear that Kate's curiosity about Reed was not in any way romantic. Her search to find out more about Reed's personal life leads her to Javi, a tattooed sculpture/artist/mechanic. Javi doesn't give the look of a nice guy, he is more of a rude anti-social person. In spite that Kate and Javi's attraction towards each other was undeniable. The time frame change was a bit disconcerting for my taste. Other than that this was a sweet, amazing read. Recommended to readers with a taste for contemporary romance....more

End verdict for the entire series: They were very addictive for me. I enjoyed them emmensly and I think these Sheik books has become my guilty pleasure. I will continue to read other works by Susan Mallery to see if it's the series that will remain my guilty pleasure or her writing....more

The book is set around the time of late 1400's when Anne of Brittany was straggling to get her duchy. My European history is not that good but I do remember a little bit about Anne of Brittany. The author put in a lot of historical information of that period. Sticking with the story line of Anne's struggle to get to her duchy. Some of the names of the Dukes were familiar.
The story in told in Ismae's point of view, with a very little about her past and the three years she spent in the convent learning the secrets of assassination she sets of with Lord Duval to find the traitor in Anne's court. Ismae had me hooked from the very beginning, and the most important part about her that I fell in love with was that she can take care of herself and others. Yes, no kidnapping or holding her for ransom if you want to have your throat slit or be poisoned by this lithe assassin.
Ismae and Duval's banter and the slow built up romance was just cherry on top with my chocolate sundae.
I can sit here and tell you how awesome this book is but it's better if you just go ahead and read the book. And be awesomified (is that a word!)...more

For me Simon Fitzgerald's flamboyant attitude has always been attractive. I was dying to read more about him ever since Miss Crane first introduced him in her books.
In this novella, Devil's Luck we find out more about Simon and Fawna. Simon, who has no care in the world attitude has a depth that I never imagined. He pretty much doesn't give a shit about whatever is in his future. He is more determined to change his fate more than anything. Fawna in other hand has hard time giving up seeing everyone's fate. Even though she doesn't want them to happen, there is no going around it. So when Simon's denial to accept his future infuriates her, it also makes her curious. Maybe there is a loop hole and there is hope.
Even though it's like 30k or something, I loved reading this short bits of Simon and Fawna's life. Before reading this book you must read The Disillusionists series first....more
