Mostly because there is no book to read. It's a scant dozen pages (if you format it properly, as it is you get mostly one phrase for page with few exceptions that get either a paragraph or a page). Honestly I am appalled that such a scam was published. It's a disgrace to the publisher and the author's reputation. I didn't mind the end of Sookie's series, you can disagree with an author but at the end of the day its their story not yours. But the fact that they published this book and charged a wham for a whole bunch of nothing is insulting and offensive.
The series ended 6 years ago, still I had no idea who 90% of characters were. And yes I agree with other reviewers, it does seem she hates the world she has created. Her characters' destinies are quite awful...
This isn't a novella nor a short story it's a bucket list. I can only imagine the fury if I had paid for it. Even on loan I got mighty irritated. It really shouldn't have been published except maybe as a wiki on the author's website. ...more

It was written on a dare and maybe it should have been left as a project among friends, and circulated as such. On sale at 4$? I don't think it's worth a buck, less of all 4. Not my idea of humor. I wasn't laughing. At all. It sounded simply stupid. But as it's often the case with humor, try it and see if it's your brand. ...more

I was quite a bit esitant before buying Kill the Queen: I had stopped reading her books quite early as they really seemed a carbon copy of each other, plus everything was too easy. So I was particularly reluctant to pay such a price for the ebook. But the reviews were good and the sample exciting.
And I admit that I enjoyed very much this adrenaline fueled run towards a throne, even if I still think her stories aren't fully believable (yes, I know it's fantasy...). Here for example I simply couldn't believe she became such a proficient killer/gladiator in six months. It's offensive towards people who struggles hours everyday for years to achieve mastery. (Not me by any stretch of imagination... ) and well it simply unbelievable. (I'm sorry but it's a nit of mine and lowers my rating.) Otherwise I liked the heroine and her exploding rage, the politics of life both at court and in an arena. ...more

At the end I had to borrow it, its price is unbelievable and it has never been slashed. That said I liked it and would buy it (as soon as it gets reasonably priced). [I did buy it 08/2020]...more

I couldn't connect with the characters, I couldn't care about the plot which therefore seemed pretty thin to me. I don't think I laughed out loud which was my reaction to her first books.

I expected way more from Stefan's story, as he was the first Arrow to break conditioning and experience emotions. Dorian's was nice, but it should have been free in her newsletter. It's vignettes, not a ss.
The other two were meh or ok at best. Kenjie and Garret was the most pathetic and weak.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this anthology unless you are a die hard fan. Above all not at such robbery price.
This year wasn't a good one for my 'relationship' with Ms Singh, all her books were a bit of a let down, with this being the real low point. Let's hope in Silver Silence....more
