It is amazing how you can feel overjoyed one moment and then devastated the next and Backman manages to do that within a few sentances at times. After reading and loving Beartown I remember finding out there was another book and being confused because Beartown seemed so complete. But book 2 and finally the third: The Winners proves that there was much more to be told about the story of Beartown. ...more

While I enjoyed the first one, it was not what I had expected, and so, I was unsure if I would like the direction of the sequel. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Gavin and Alistair were my favourite narrators by far, but the other two still held my attention. The audiobook for this is fantastic!...more

So often I am left dissapointed with series finales. This one was fantastic. The world building and chracters have been amazing this whole series. Chima is one seriously underrated author and deserves more credit. I can now confidently say after reading two series that she is one of my favourite YA fantasy authors. Extra bonus points for writing female characters that don't make me want to bang my head against the wall!...more

Each book seemed to get better and better as I went along. I can't believe it took me so long to read. It is so refreshing to have a main female character like Raisa. In the first book I didn't know how I felt, but her development over the four books was incredible. She truly grew into a fearsome warrior Queen. And Han is now one of my favourites as well. I saw someone on instagram make the comment that "Han walked so Kaz Brekker could run" and it is so true! His growth was great as well. He went from rag tag streetlord/thief to powerful charmcaster. I thought it ended really well. So many series have a lackluster ending or try to do too much and it becomes overdone. I felt the Crimson Crown had just the right amount of stakes and action to conclude this amazing series. ...more

I did not know how everything was going to wrap up, but it wrapped up quite well. And while hinting at the next book in the grishaverse! I loved the cameos of the crows. I love Nikolai and I love Kaz. And what is better than them apart is seeing them interact together! It is like they are trying to out manouver each other while working towards a (somewhat) similar goal. I love it!...more

I wish we could have a whole novel series or even spin off manga exploring Ace's journey from when he left Luffy to become a pirate up to when he joins Whitebeard. But alas, that may be too much to hope for. Nonetheless I did still enjoy this short and sweet little novel (I may just be a little Ace biased). ...more
