The Da Vinci's CodeAs many of you, I discovered Dan Brown thanks to the explosive global success (almost viral) of The Da Vinci's Code and Dan Brown. The Da Vinci's Code isn't just a book that keeps you glued to its pages for its exciting plot, its stereotypical characters and its fantastic locations, in my opinion, I think the real success of the Da Vinci's Code is to take ART out of museums and academic books and put it to a world full of suspense, conspiracies and hidden symbolism. Surely many people have already read this book, but for those who hasn't done it yet, I recommend to read it and decide if the global success of this novel is well deserved.
...more

Well, to be completely honest I would say that I love all books of Agatha Christie! Along with “And then there were none” and “Death on the Nile”, this novel is certainly one of his most famous stories. Murder on the Orient Express is a story that attracts you from the start. Christie drags the reader to the tiny world of a passenger train, where you gradually feel like it is getting smaller to almost suffocate you in a claustrophobic and paranoid atmosphere. It’s a novel that I recommend to all fans of detective and crime novels and an exemplary analysis exercise for all writers of the crime genre that in my humble opinion, is the hardest to write of all.
...more

I guess that sometimes you get the wrong idea of things, and something like this happens to me with the book of Elisabeth Gilbert. I thought it would be a book full of extra sweet romanticism (I guess that the film poster starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem doesn’t help) but the reality is that isn’t this kind of book. Eat Pray Love is a book that you can read easily, but its content goes far beyond the simple story of an American girl who travels the world during one year. The protagonist and author takes us into his personal story in a very attractive way and full of self-criticism. It’s precisely because of her intelligent tone where the book engages. You quickly empathize with her problems, with her insecurities and unhappiness to fully understand the nature of her external and internal journey. You can feel her pain, explore her fears and understand why she needs to deconstruct all his “perfect” life to find some sense in it. Honestly, now more than ever I feel very in tune with the protagonist. A few months I also packed all and I embarked on the adventure of living one year abroad, by now in Canada. And I can say that for now, It has to be the most enriching experience of all my life.
:D...more

After reading the synopsis and discover that the story of Steven Callahan was real I felt more and more curious about reading it. “Adrift” is a great novel for those readers who like stories of survival, where the sea is protagonist and antagonist and above all, lovers of adventures, ADVENTURES in capital letters. Callahan's story is so vivid and real that you feel immersed in the odyssey of his journey from the beginning. I started reading the books during my school days when Peter Jackson started the first of the 3 movies. I fell in love with the epic, the adventure and also the fantasy of the story. The characters and their feelings are perfectly balanced between the general plot and the quest to destroy the ring, and that I'm pretty sure everybody knows. I have to say that the best part for me is the ending. This subtle, almost intriguing ending that again, let you feel the magic of this astonishing word hat Tolkien developed. So for me, this saga has become a classic, that everybody should read! ;D

:D...more

In general, I like I think that Patrick Rothfuss is one of the best actual storytellers. He immerses you in the life of Kvothe with impressive skill. In general, I like to read the book, although I must say that sometimes I missed more rhythm on some parts, sometimes I had the feeling that the descriptions had a bigger role compared with the actions, slowing down the narrative motor of the novel. I think that the characters are well drawn, but for my taste sometimes the main character suffers from too much perfection and make me feel a bit of rejection. The other main characters are well crafted but in my opinion, the secondary ones are poorly defined and pass like shadows beside the protagonist. Nevertheless, I must say that "The Name of the Wind" is a great book, especially for its huge internal development: its worlds, its languages, and its mythology that Patrick Rothfuss has created from the scratch. I recommend the book to all fans of fantasy novels like the Lord of the Rings (with less epic scenes) and lovers of the BIG stories.
...more

The Odyssey is an ideal choice for all adventure and mythology fans and a must read for all those aspiring to become a writer because it's probably the book that creates the foundation for many narrative structures in which the hero is forced on a journey full of dangers and setbacks.

...more

Life of Pi is one of my favorite books, not only by the fresh, warm and almost innocent way Yann Martel tells the fantastic journey of Pi but above all by the poetry that resonates in each of its words and pages.
