The thing is, Sebastian doesn't want a meek little doll he can break easily, he wants a girl with fire and fight in her, so Helena is chosen as the Willow Whipping girl of her generation. Yay. She's about to belong to the three Scafoni son's for the next three years of her life, and she knows it isn't going to be pretty. Mostly because their mother is a raging, vengeful, jealous and dangerous bitch.
I was super, duper excited to read this and it was... I don't know, it wasn't what I expected. It was good, yes, but I felt it was missing something. The dinamic between Helena and Sebastian was strained at its best and I didn't pick up the part where Sebastian sudendly grew up a concience. Ethan was just plain stupid with his 'my mommy said this, my mommy said that' but since he has a brain injury, well... I want to know more about that (what's the role of Sebastian in all of it), and I want to find out how horrible can the other brother be. I don't remember his name right now, but he's giving me the creeps, lol. He's handsome, too.
And btw, Helena is super stupid, believing anything Lucinda had to say. Stupid cliffy, I want to know what happens next.

Daria Followhill is officially one of my favorite heroines of all times. This girl is something else, fierce yet vulnerable; she doesn't let anyone walk all over her. She's a bitch with a heart and the Hulk inside her. I have no actual words to describe how much I enjoyed reading about her. Penn Scully was allright for a Hero I guess, I really can't say much about him since all my attention was on Daria.
Only thing I didn't like and the reason why I'm not giving this a five-star rating is (view spoiler)[Sylvia deserves to rot in hell for what she did to Daria. Twisted Pride was probably my most anticipated read of April. Since I read Twisted Loyalties I knew Remo was going to be one of my favourite characters through this series and he was until this particular book. I feel like he wasn't himself at all. He was supposed to be cruel and ruthless and a total maniac but he acted like a softie until the very end. The only cruel thing about him were the author's descriptions. 'His cruel smile', 'his cruel, blach heart' and so on. It got so tedious, like this was an amateur's book instead of something written by Cora Reilly.
And don't get me started on Serafina. I didn't like her one bit. I never like the cold, pridefull ones anymore. They have the chance to be awesome but it's like the authors don't know how to portrait a fine, strong female character without making her annoying in the process. Cora made the same mistake with Gianna in Bound by Hatred. She was supposed to be strong and independant but she was just a disappointment as a heroine. One of the worst's I've read so far. Fortunately, Serafina wasn't as bad as Gianna but I didn't like her either way.
I felt no chemistry between her and Remo. None whatsoever. There was no love, and the lust was a cheap thing since Remo's one of the sexiests guys I've read about, and he 'fell' in love with this cold fish called Serafina. She wouldn't even give him a blowjob without being difficult about it... you can give head and keep your pride, girl. I hope you know that.
Only interesing aspect of this book was the possibility of a story about Serafina's sister, Sofia, who was promised to Danilo. That's something I want to read... now I'm not so excited about Savio's and Adamo's books, because... well... I'm just not. But nothing can be as bad as this one. ...more

It's an unfortunate afternoon in which Olivia is kidnapped by a couple of crazy dudes who accuse her of sympathizing with vampires (apparently a girl isn't allowed to read vampire-smut on public transport anymore), so she is thrown into a cage with a pale and apparently sick young man (he doesn't wake up, his skin is chilly to the touch and he's not breathing correctly). Until Olivia realizes that, wow, she's been locked up with a vampire! And she's to be his dinner (or breakfast, depends on who you ask). She's lucky enough to find out that this vampire doesn't want to eat her and he's pretty human-friendly, so both of them manage to escape... and so the story begins.

I liked it. I truly did. Liv was a pretty funny heroine to read even when her choices made my blood boil sometimes, but she was the perfect companion for lonely, gentle Warin. I have to admit I didn't expect him to be the blood thristy monster of the prequel, but his passivity disburbed me sometimes. He wasn't what I expected a vampire to be.
This would have been a solid four star for me, but I believe the end was too rushed and overloaded.

I liked this Arsen guy a lot, ok? and Harper wasn't half bad, she was pretty decent too, waiting for him all those years and making a living for herself while waiting for Arsen to come out of jail. I ship them so hard....more

It had a lot of potential but ended up being a damn circus. And very cliche.
The heroine was worthless. I got tired of her using him and rejecting him. When he finally got over her she felt wronged. Like, was he supposed to wait for her? Dude, she called him 'Nobody' in front of her 'father figure', she had sex with him and then abandoned him, and don't get me started on her poor common sense. She's a horrible character.
Noah was ok, he was pretty swoon-worthy at the beggining but I got over it pretty fast after he tried to get back with Skyler again and again. It was as if he didn't respect himself or something. And what about that crap of looking for a girl identical to Skyler to get over her... Dude, please. You are a tattooed, dark, tall and handsome bastard. You can have any girl you want! UHG He frustrated me a lot!
But I guess the author wanted to make this book a horrible one since the beggining. Why? Because Noah actually fell in love with this unknown girl, so Skyler felt like a second best the whole time after this fact was revealed. It just made want to gag. Bad....more

Church me gustaba al comienzo cuando no hablaba, me pasó lo mismo con Emma. Pero siento que cuando se 'estableció' su relación, todo se fue al caño. Church es el típico sociópata de librito, excepto que él tiene consciencia de enfermedad así que trata en lo posible de no joder a nadie (no porque sea bueno, creo que en el fondo tenía miedo de que lo atraparan). Y Emma, se leía bien independiente y badass al comienzo pero luego toda su existencia comenzó a girar entorno a Church y bueno... adiós a la imagen de heroína fuerte.
Me gusta la forma de narrar de la autora. Hace que, por más aburridas que sean las situaciones, suenen interesantes o fluyan rápido. Lástima que no pudo poner todo ese talento en la química entre Church y Emma. La sinopsis sonaba más prometedora.
No tengo ganas de leer la secuela... pero de aquí a allá, quién sabe.
