This series will always have a special place in my heart now!
I usually don’t love the amnesia trope but I loved how Rebecca done it, it allowed the romance to start over again and have the tender moments through letters which was what I loved about the first book so I’m glad it continued in book 2.
The story was gripping and beautifully written, I have no notes.

This may be the first book where I love the FMC slightly more than the MMC. They’re both amazing but Caprice really shines in this story.
I love how it was told in 3 parts, from kids to teenagers and then adults it was perfectly paced to allow us to get to know the characters at each stage. Tears were shed and this is definitely a story that will stay with me

I loved the discussions about Janelle being a people pleaser even at the expense of her own happiness, just because someone is family doesn’t give them a right to disrespect your boundaries and walk all over you. It was a lesson I myself had to learn a while ago, the art of saying no.
I hope everyone else gets their own book because I’m trying to read Evie & Jalen’s love story, with his fine single dad, retired NBA ass....more

Everyone needs to read this, iI don’t think I’ve ever cried so much reading a book, knowing that this is some people’s reality is truly heartbreaking.
Everyone needs to read this, its so true what the author says in their author’s note. The news report numbers of deaths so much that we become desensitised to the fact that each number was an actual person that’s had hopes and dreams of a better life.
If you’re a fan of Khaled Hosseini books you should definitely read this. I do wonder why this is marketed as a YA book because it’s very triggering and quite graphic with descriptions of injuries and deaths and the main character is 19. I personally would recommend it for new adult/adult readers ...more

Make no mistake this is Kyrell’s story, Ive seen some people refer to it as Quinn’s story and as much as she is the love interest the book focuses heavily on him and his parental issues. I loved Kyrell in “All I’ve Wanted, All Ive Needed” so I loved watching him fall in love.
They start as friends with benefits and of course the more time they spend together the more they fall in love. Quinn has always had a plan and likes to be in control of her own life, Kyrell is a “walking chill pill” and goes with the flow so he shows her how to let her hair down, the go karting date was hilarious.
I won’t say much more because I think it’s fun to just let the story unravel as you read it but Kyrell has serious issues with his parents and childhood which are described on page so check triggers but I enjoyed watching his relationship with his father build and tears were shed.
I did think the book dragged slightly towards the end, with parts being repeated and lots of spicy scenes that I had to skip over a bit because I’m personally not a big spice reader, I can do 1 or 2 scenes but not spice after ever serious conversation. But some may love that and it definitely didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story.
(FYI definitely read this before “The Beginning of Forever” book because that has spoilers for the ending of this book)

Oraya is such a strong FMC, ruthless, powerful and yet relatable. Everything she does makes sense, such a easy character to root for.
“I realized that fear, when embraced, hardens and sharpens. That it becomes rage. That it becomes power. I would not die here. I let my fury explode.”
This might be one of the very few books where I love the FMC slightly more than the MMC. Don’t get me wrong I still LOVE Raihn, he’s funny and caring and as close to a golden retriever as a Vampire can get.
"I've lived through some injustices in the last couple of centuries. Seen some fucking travesties. But one of the biggest, Oraya, is that anyone taught you that you should become anything other than exactly what you are."
All characters jumped of the page and made me love them, Ilana, Mische, somehow even Ibrihim (even though we don’t get to know him much) and especially Vincent. I have never seen a morally grey character done so well, to the point I spent the whole book fighting myself on if Vincent was a good or bad person…finally settling on the fact that he is truly morally grey, a person that can do bad things and yet not be a completely bad person.
"I can't take credit for everything that you've become, Oraya. Even if sometimes I wish I could. But if I'm responsible for just one small piece of that, it will have been the greatest accomplishment of my life.”
I ordered book 2 before I even finished this one because I want to stay in this world forever...more
