There's a whole lot of sex, not much substance. I was rapidly losing patience in the alpha male character and the wishy washy female lead. Make up your mind already. Choose a guy.
Note: I have read this author previously and have enjoyed her Killer Instincts series immensely, so I guess this series didn't grab my attention.

I read up to 40% and decided that this book was not for me. I found that the motivations of the main character to get a scholarship were reprehensible. That was the last straw for me and as a result, I am unable to continue.

Why?
- I did not like the hero Hancock- Here we have a big bruiser of a military man, all muscle, all business. He rescues his damsel in distress (although she is really badass) only to constantly think about turning her over to the bad guys for the greater good. At first the book reminded me of the TV series American Odyssey, but too much time was spent in the hero's head. Men do not think that way. They can't possibly.
But -
I loved the heroine Honor. - This is a woman who manages to escape a massacre, disguises herself as a native, and looks out for herself and others.
Unfortunately, the narrative dragged a little for me and I can't keep reading.

There's plenty of 5 star reviews of this book, so go ahead and check them out. I tried to read this book a few times. I really did. It just didn't call to me. I was bored. Nothing happened.
I'm sure that if I kept reading, something would have grabbed me, however, I just didn't have the patience.

I got up to page 30 or so and nothing really grabbed me. It's probably just a case of my mood. My ereader copy was a little strange too - there were passages that just didn't make sense so it could be a case of my ereader not capturing all of the fonts.

I had difficulty with this book. In many ways, this is a story that I've already read before in young adult literature. I was also annoyed by the terminology - "Contained" and "Redirected."
Perhaps this book is just not to my tastes, other readers may enjoy it.

I tried. This book just did not hold my interest. First of all, if your character is dead, how can they possibly feel pain? Second, what's with all the cats? (Nice tie in to the title....) Third, I don't think I can take a book with high school angst right now.
Some readers may enjoy this book. Sadly, it wasn't for me.

There is really nothing wrong with this book. I guess I was just not in the mood for this. I kept putting it aside and rather than have it staring at me, I've decided that it was time to move on to another book. In a way, I'm a little disappointed because I enjoyed the first 2 books of The Madman's Daughter series. Maybe I liked those books because they were a different take on The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But I think that the novelty wore off for this book.
