We are also now setting our sights away from Guts desire to battle and moving towards Griffith fulfilling his dream for an empire of his own , and this latter plot is something thats both impressive and terrifying.
Also it was fun to read Hindi words being used in the book , albeit also offensive to see it being used by Kusdaq , but then again there are no good guys in this dark and deary world .
The negative from me for the book was the unnecessary explicitiveness ...more

So , This is a genre of book , that I generally don't read. Not that I haven't read books in this genre before , but as most people know , I prefer Fantasy & Murder Mystery more than any other genre , but being the month of Halloween I was compelled by a friend to buddy read this and for the first time I managed to buddy read as we both managed to finish the book in the same week (give or take) , The friend in question finished it way earlier than me however . Anyways on to the review .
WHAT I LIKED :

This is a book , I went into knowing very little , except that it was apparently Goodreads's recommendation for Horror . Going as such I met with some disappointment and some really brilliant findings. The disappointment was that this book felt more of a dystopian / sci-fi/ thriller with some horror element in it , but not really a horror book .
The findings that amazed me was Melanie , the main protagonist of the book . See Melanie is a child , a little girl in a dystopian earth, where Zombies Hungries now rule 90 percent of earth. She has never really seen the outside world , She knows the outside world is scary filled with Zombies err Hungries . But Melanie is not just any girl , She's special , why she is special , well I'd prefer you read the book to find out and stop reading this review and just skip to the pic about Pros and cons that I usually post . But If you don't care , the below paragraphs would be spoiler filled and mind you they may ruin your reading experience .
See Melanie is a Hungry / Zombie herself , except she is for some unknown reason an evolutionarily advanced kind of Hungry/ Zombie and she can talk and act like Humans and not just a Zombie .
This bit of info is the key to the book , You learn early on about Melanie but she is portrayed in such a way that her naivety makes you want to protect her. In most such books she is not someone you empathize with , but as I mentioned before Melanie is special.
Besides Melanie we meet 4 other characters and most of them are well thought out , with no character really being drawn into the moral white or black , everyone having their own baggage and that really makes up for a good reading , two of the characters really come out as headstrong ready to fight and die for their beliefs , One character meanwhile really turned the corner for me as at the beginning I hated said character ,but later on that character became a favorite of mine.

The most annoying thing about the book was the horror element , there definitely were horror elements , but they weren't spectacular . Most of these Horror scenes have been played out way too many times in the past in various other medias . Some of the character decisions were also very irritating as they came across really silly
CONCLUSIONS: [image]
The Book succeeds in making the readers empathize with characters most books wouldn't want you to empathize with , in the mean time it also quests in the human nature of wastefulness and how easy it will be for the human race to essentially kill itself after making a series of ill-fated decisions to a crisis . I'd recommend this book for various reasons that I have already mentioned here , but If you just want to read a horror book , I suggest to look elsewhere as for a Horror title this isn't really a go-to book....more
