Not having a particular attachment to food, I knew that I may not enjoy it as much as Jim Gaffigan's first book but I figured that the funny would translate just as well. True enough, it was funny and by the end of it, I was glad to be born in Europe to a mother that cooked. Still, Jim Gaffigan's narration is great!...more

Being new to food writing in general, I would have appreciated a bit more set-up to how he started to cook and less cooking theory stories. I really wish I could have connected more with him as a person so I could understand why he loves food so much. This was by no means a bad book, just that I had different expectations. Still this was a quick and pleasant read....more

I can't recommend this book highly enough: you want to learn about totalitarianism, Russia's relationship with other soviet countries and food, then you need this book in your life.
