The Total Knockout was a sports romance that was impossible to put down! This story was laugh out loud hilarious, will pull on your emotions and make you fall in love. With a fun and flirty vibe, this book was so entertaining! If you love romance that is sweet with a little bit of spice, a dash of enemies to lovers, and a story line that will have you smiling from that first page to the last, then you need this book in your life! You definitely don't have to read the previous ones in this series to enjoy The Total Knockout, but I can't recommend the rest of this series about the O'Brien brothers enough! "If you're trying to book-shame me," she said, "it won't work. I read what I like. Doesn't matter what you or anyone else has to say about it." Dex O'Brien was struggling in college and was at risk of being pulled from the baseball team because of his grades. When his coach told him that he had no choice about seeing a tutor, that tutor ended up being Maisie Hawthorne. From the beginning they had a rocky start. Dex thought he could scare her off and Maisie needed the money so she wasn't going anywhere. It was impossible not to laugh and smile when they were together! So when you add Dex's siblings Finn and Emmy into the mix, who adored Maisie, whelp it was a ton of fun! "So, are you going to keep staring or teach me something?" I absolutely loved Maisie and wanted to be friends with her! She was kind, patient, thoughtful and such a hard worker. She was putting herself through college while working at a bar, tutoring, and she did other jobs on the side. From the beginning we got to see how much she loved and cared for her younger sister, Lola. And I loved when Lola was around, because it felt like she would help pull Dex and Maisie closer together. Yet there seemed to be something going on with her past, since Maisie was jaded and swore off relationships. But even with her no relationship policy she couldn't help be attracted to Dex. He was a pierced, tatted, bad boy who lived and breathed baseball and secretly had a heart of gold. I raised a brow. "How do I look at her?" Dex's way with words had me falling head over heels in love with him. He was definitely cocky and didn't shy away from saying what he thought. From the beginning he told Maisie that he thought she was pretty. Yet Dex didn't want anything more than just fun. He didn't do relationship either and didn't believe that love was for him. I wondered if maybe his overconfidence was to cover his struggles in school and the comments people made about him physically? I don't know. But regardless, there were times I had tears in my eyes for Dex. And as we spent more time with him, your heart will melt. The confessions he said. The way he made for sure that Maisie was safe and protected her without a second thought. To even how there was a little bit of jealousy in there at times too, sigh. Dex was the most fabulous of book boyfriends! Dex scoffed. "Better lower those expectations, Hawthorne." This story alternated between Maisie and Dex, and I loved both of their thoughts! This is one of those books where it's impossible to pick your favorite moment, because there were so many of them. Emmy throwing Maisie under the bus? I was dying laughing. The mirror scene? That was so hot! And so many more I don't want to mention for fear of spoilers. On top of countless memorable scenes, Dex's siblings, Emmy and Finn, were the best! If you are adore family in a story, you're going to love this one! The way they messed with Dex was perfect! But back to Maisie and Dex....as they worked together and time passed, it was smile inducing watching their hate for one another fade. And it almost seemed like a friendship was forming between them. They showed up for one another. They cheered each other on in their own ways. And they realized that not only were they both scarred physically, but emotionally too. Through every moment though, there was always sparks and banter flying. And those sparks seemed to arc higher and higher the more time they spent together. It was one of those stories where I couldn't wait to see where their explosion took them! "There's a lot of things I want," he said then reached up to brush a strand of hair behind my ear. "What about you, Hawthorne? Anything you want right this second?" Romance lovers will fall passionately in love with The Total Knockout! If you love sports, new adult or a story that keeps you smiling and laughing then you need to put this one on your tbr! Now I'll be patiently waiting for Cookie's next release, her books always make me oh so happy every single time. And each one becomes an instant favorite! Once the door closed, I looked back and found Rose smiling. PS Is Emmy next or will it be Finn? I'm thinking Emmy after what happened in this book, eeps! I am so excited for more in this world! As I kissed her all I could think was, this. This was it. This was what makes life worth living. *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. ***4.5/5 Stars*** Star Bringer was a fast paced romantic Sci-Fi that was so much fun! It felt like a mash up of certain elements from Guardians of the ***4.5/5 Stars*** Star Bringer was a fast paced romantic Sci-Fi that was so much fun! It felt like a mash up of certain elements from Guardians of the Galaxy + The 100 + The Breakfast Club and a little bit of The Bourne Identity, so I was obsessed! And by just that first chapter I was sucked in. These seven characters were thrown together and were the most unlikely of allies. It was just asking for disaster! It made this story steamy, heartfelt and filled with all the action. Laced with lies, death, secrets, betrayal, friendship and love, this high staked book was impossible to put down! As crews go, we’re a goddamn disaster. A princess, a priestess, a bodyguard, a prisoner, a con artist, a goofball, and me, self-appointed asshole in charge of them all. Kalinda: Crown Princess of the Nine Planets If anyone had told me a month ago that I’d be sitting at a bar on Glacea while the only person I’ve ever kissed casually stabs a stranger, I would have laughed them out of the palace. But here we are. Kali was one of my favorite characters. Her thoughts cracked me up and I loved her sarcasm. Yet even though she was level headed, she had been raised so naïve and sheltered. She hadn't been aware of what was truly going on in the planets around her, or their galaxy. So as she found herself in the middle of an adventure of a lifetime, she not only got a huge wake up call, but she grew so much from the beginning of this story to the end! Ian: Mercenary and Smuggler and (Very) Occasional Good Guy He smirks. “Princess Kalinda, the martyr . Not sure the look suits you. Besides, I’ve always been a sucker for a damsel in distress.” Ian was right up there with favorite character! His thoughts made me fall so hard for him. And I loved that he was attracted to the Princess from the get go, but that he hated all that she stood for. But Ian was a secretive soul and he held a lot of his cards close to his chest. All I really knew about him in the beginning was that he desperately needed to save Milla. We just didn't know the why. As the story unfolded we saw that Ian was heroic, brave, cynical and selfless - even though he would deny this to his death haha. Ian was a true book boyfriend that I fell head over heels in love with! Ian & Kali: No way. Bad boys are one thing. Homicidal assholes are another. Ian and Kali had the most fabulous of enemies to lovers! Their banter was everything! I loved watching Ian mess with Kali, and Kali throw it back at him. Watching their enemies to lovers relationship transform was my favorite thing about this story! It was real, believable and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Being put in life and death situations, they had to trust each other. Save each other. And watching that trust, friendship and more build was perfect and left my heart beating faster! Rain: High Priestess of the Sisterhood of the Light I feel the stirring of my own rebellion deep inside. The part of me that has lived my life for other people knows I should shove it down and lock it up tight. But the other part… the other part of me wants to take it out for a spin and see where it goes. Rain was absolutely adorable and oh so sheltered. She had so many expectations put upon her as the High Priestess, so I loved how down to earth she was. How she was a complete disaster the first time she met the Princess. But as we got to learn more about Rain, I loved that she was kind, good hearted and so thoughtful. And she was completely obsessed thinking about kissing Beckett ♥. Beckett: Newly Escaped Prisoner 826 “Nothing about you could ever be boring, Rain,” she whispers back. Then she sweeps my hair over my shoulder and leans forward to press her mouth against the nape of my neck. Beckett was a mystery. She kept her cards closer to her chest then even Ian did. She had so much hate towards everything Kali stood for, and seemed to have so much darkness around her because of the physical pain she was constantly in. So she took the longest for me to warm up to and like. Watching Rain make Beckett happy finally gave Beckett the light she desperately needed. Yet I felt like Rain and Becket's relationship wasn't as developed as Ian and Kali's. Theirs felt more physical, like an insta lust. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Rain and Beckett's relationship will develop more as this trilogy unfolds! Their World & The Others: “What is this?” she asks, and now she’s looking around as well. Learning about the different planets, and the political mechanisms to it all was fascinating. But we also got to see the horrors that surrounded them and my mind was blown. Torture. Betrayal. Death. Consequences. All seemed to be wherever you looked in their galaxy. Also on the ship were Merrick, Gage, and Max. Yet we didn't get the any of their povs like we do with Beckett, Rain, Ian and Kali. So I'm keeping my lips zipped on them, other then hold on because you're in for a wild ride! And the same for the ship! I loved the ship in the story almost as much as Kali and Ian! I have sooooo much I want to say, but I can't wait for you to discover all that is Starlight! She had me clapping, screaming out loud, and cheering her on every step of the way! Terror rolls through me at the thought of what we’re about to do— and what will happen if we get caught. But some things are worth fighting for. And so are some people. With perilous action, this story had heart pounding moments that were epic and others that were impossible not to have tears when reading! And while there were happy moments, death still loomed over all of their heads. After finishing this book, I went back and re-read certain scenes and the foreshadowing! Ohhhhh, it was so subtly there! This story was definitely like a puzzle, but you have to look for the pieces since not all of them show themselves to you! Now I am patiently waiting for that next book. While I am nervous about how something will pan out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I love how it unfolds. And I can;t wait to see what happens next! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. | My breaths sawed in and out of lungs that felt like they were filled with cement. Demon's Advocate pulled out a My breaths sawed in and out of lungs that felt like they were filled with cement. Demon's Advocate pulled out all the stops. We got answers that went back to the first book and also ones in between. And we were given the most beautiful happily ever at the end of this story! Plus we were setup for Vas and Mer's book and her sister's spinoff. There is so much going on in this world and I'm so thankful we don't have to say goodbye, yet! But again, it was such a rough road to get to that happily ever after. “Tell me then,” she eyed me. At least she was curious. This story was filled with lies and deceit. The extent that her Grandfather would go to, to get what he wanted. Wow. No lines existed for Lucifer. He stole her memories and put false ones in there instead. So I kept waiting for it all to click in place! And for Danica to punch and kill someone and for Samael to get them back. I couldn't wait until he would make the skies rain with the blood shed he would bring to their realm and to those that stood by Lucifer's side. But as the story unfolded, there were those characters that I didn't know where they stood. Whose side they belonged to. So even when I thought I knew where this book was going, there were still surprises that kept me on my toes and turning those pages faster and faster! “You likely shouldn’t join this battle. You have younglings to protect.” Hannah, Finvarra, Gary, and so many more from the previous books graced these pages. I loved it! It was so fabulous seeing everyone come together and play there part. But there were also moments with betrayal and scenes that made me scream and jump. And death bled through the pages. I wasn't prepared for all of those that died. I cried tears for those we lost. Even if the battle was epically vicious and I loved all of its twists and turns. But those last few pages. Sigh. This series took us on a beautiful journey filled with tons of heart and soul. I loved the morally grey love interest, the kickass female, the fond family, the sacrifices that were made. Love and friendship were such intricate elements in this well crafted series. And Stacia has definitely created a fan for life with this series. I'm excited to binge the rest of her books and read whatever she releases next! | I was Alice, and I’d fallen down the wrong damn rabbit hole. Luck of the Demon was an emotional book about sacrifice and love. Debts were called in I was Alice, and I’d fallen down the wrong damn rabbit hole. Luck of the Demon was an emotional book about sacrifice and love. Debts were called in and traded. Prophecies graced the pages. We saw lots of familiar faces from the previous books. Friendships formed I didn't see coming. And there were new alliances made that had me on the edge of my seat having to know what happened next! This series continues to keep me entertained, obsessed and needing to know what happens next! Lucifer had known exactly where to strike. I was the chink in Samael’s armor. His blind spot. The weakness Lucifer had been searching for. Luck of the Demon hurt. I had so much anxiety for Samael. What he was going through was horrific. And his fate fell completely on Danica's shoulders. Her tasks were unfathomable. The deals she made just seemed to dig her even deeper into what had to be done. I was so nervous for her, yet love drove her to never give up! And play some very dangerous games with those in great power. Yet Danica also sacrificed more than we could ever imagine. I cried for her. For what she had to lose. And then her emotional moment with Scylla, I just couldn't. I was a blubbering mess. This book definitely held me in the palm of its hands! Whatever it took. I’d do whatever it took to make sure he lived. With time running out, the intensity of this book felt through the roof. And with enemies at every turn, I just wanted them to have some type of break. One that didn't exist. Danica traveled through realms, was given tasks that seemed impossible and met creatures she didn't even know existed. All the while Samael's life was on the line. So I was beyond terrified and sometimes didn't want to turn the page because I needed those I loved to be okay. And that definitely wasn't guaranteed. But there was an addition of a new character who I loved! We also got some answers to questions back from that first book! But there was also tears, I had so many tears! Even happy ones. Then those last few pages left us again on another epic cliffhanger and I started that next book asap! PS When she said MY people! OMG, I got chills! Dance With the Demon was a fabulous continuation of the Deals with Demons Series! Grimoires, bargains, prophecies, and betrayal swept through the story making it another addictive read! I loved that we learned more about Danica's life. And her interactions with others like Gary, Mella and her sister, Evie. Evie was one of my favorites because she cracked me up and I'm so excited that she got her own spinoff series! But beware, because there were others within this story who will make you simmer with rage. “I have lost everyone who ever mattered to me,” he hissed. “I won’t lose you too.” Regardless of how Danica thought it would all play out, she found herself bonded with Samael. I got her anger and rage. Even if I was secretly excited about it since it was Samael *hides face*. Because no matter what happened, Samael always protected her. He was kind, thoughtful and tried his best to take care of her. Or at least he did what he thought was best. But then in the blink of an eye he had no problem going to his darker side. I absolutely loved his morally grey self! Yet Danica fought him every step of the way, since he had stolen her freedom. Through it all they continued to have the most delicious sexual tension, a date that left me screaming with excitement and some moments that were hot, hot, hot! I slowly brushed one finger along the edge of the closest feather as he silently watched me. In Dance with the Demon we got to know Samael better. Oh he was such a tortured soul. He had a horrific past that still haunted him to this day. And it made sense why he was the way he was. There was so much more to him than meets the eye. And that had me falling harder for him. The gestures he made were beautiful, I even got tears in my eyes. And seeing that Danica was his humanity warmed my heart time and again. So I couldn't get enough of the moments when Samael and Danica were together! We also got to see another side of Danica in this story. Yes she faced things she didn't want to. But she also allowed herself to break down and my heart ached for her. I'd let him in, I realized. Somewhere along the way, I'd let him crawl beneath my rib cage, and he was buried there, where my fucking heart should be. This story played out like a movie in my head. I can't recommend it enough for fans of paranormal and urban fantasy! There was adventure, friendship, passion and so many different creatures that I was fascinated learning about. I also enjoyed that this story brought about more of a familial side, with Gary's kids. I loved watching Samael interact with them. And of course again there's so much I can't talk about. But it was so much fun and I read this book way too quickly! For more of my reviews, please visit: [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] ...more |

A Soul of Ash and Blood wove an enchanting tale between the past and the present. It was a phenomenal addition to the From Blood and Ash Series! I thought I was prepared for this story, I was so wrong. New light was shone on scenes we thought we knew, things arose that left us with burning questions, and those final pages cumulated into a heart stopping ending! Cas' story will capture your heart! A Soul of Ash and Blood was intoxicating, gritty, smile inducing and absolutely impossible to put down! What he’d said was something I’d already learned the hard way, but his words… The story started out in the present and within those first few pages my heart was already in my chest. I shouldn't have been surprised that it was emotionally intense, or that I cried within that first chapter. Because while some of those tears were happy, there were others filled with sadness and scared of the unknown. Something wasn't right with Poppy. Cas and Kieran knew it, and Nektas seemed to possessive knowledge that I wanted to pry out of his brain. That draken could be so blunt, but he cracked me up time and again! So as Poppy went into stasis, Cas took us back to before he met Poppy. I loved how JLA skillfully immersed us in a world we already loved, but through Cas' eyes it was unique, addictive and so much more than I ever could have hoped and dreamed! As we alternated between the past and the present, this book turned out to be EVERYTHING I didn't realize I needed! Kieran shook his head as he turned his stare to the moon. “A Maiden with a wolven-bone dagger and, at the very least, no fear when it comes to using it?” One side of his lips tipped up. “Why do I have a feeling we may have underestimated her?” Cas took us back to before he met Poppy and was a guard. I loved his moments with Vikter, oh how I have missed him. Their interactions were phenomenal! But most of all I loved getting to hear Cas' preconceived notions about Poppy, even as he got clues of who the Maiden truly was from others around him. And when he got to meet her in person, his reactions were all consuming and I always had to know how he would handle the next moment they were together! I could not stop smiling, I could not stop my shouts and screams of happiness, and it was impossible not to laugh at the most inappropriate things. Seeing violence through Cas' eyes, well it was hard not to think how he thought haha. His anger and vengeance were electrifying and it seemed to bubble under the surface at times. I loved when things would get violent and each time I fell even harder for him. One thing that hurt so much though, was getting to see deeper into who Cas was. His past. The horrors. And how it haunted him in the present. It literally ripped me apart and I felt like I was drowning at times. I know Poppy said in FBAA what she had felt from him, but I didn't realize how much it truly consumed him. “I know you want to do something irresponsible and reckless, but you can’t kill him,” he said. There was no greeting. No need to ask questions. He knew why I was here. Getting to hear Cas' explanations for the whys he did something was absolutely phenomenal! His dark, humorous thoughts were addictive! And watching him do things I had no clue he was doing, ohhhhhh be prepared to be surprised again and again by this story! But one of my favorite things was seeing Poppy through Cas' eyes. How she affected him. How she seeped into his thoughts. And how his progression of thoughts towards her changed. It was consuming and will fill your heart with joy! You know how in FBAA we got to learn the world right along with Poppy? I felt that all over again with Cas. Yes he has knowledge for what is truly going on, but he was in the dark for other things. And watching as light was shown on certain aspects to Cas, it blew my mind. We got to see so many different sides of Cas. How he could be his own worst enemy. How he could be someone's savior. How he could be their demise. And most of all, how he was able to enchant Poppy's heart and soul. Their blood was on my hands. As the story unfolded, we got to see lots of fan favorite moments from FBAA, and scenes that weren't in FBAA too. But some of those scenes that are our favorites, oh we were none the wiser. So when Cas filled in certain things, wow. You think you know something, but you truly don't! And seeing how he felt through each of those times, fans of this series are going to be clinging onto his every word and thought! We also got to see Kieran through Cas' eyes and watching Kieran handle certain situations was epic and shocking. There are no other words! And Emil. Oh poor Emil. I laughed so hard in a certain situation with him that I should probably feel guilty about, but I don't haha. And while I went from desperately wanting to stay in the past, there came a point in the story where the present had us hanging onto every word and moment. And those final pages?! Hold on because it is heart pounding and left us desperately wanting that next book! I wanted to be a good man who would walk away from what he knew he wasn’t worthy or deserving of. The kind Kieran believed I was. The type I had been raised to be. But I wasn’t a good man. A Soul of Ash and Blood will have you falling in love with Cas, Poppy, and this series all over again. Plus the steam in this book through Cas' eyes *fans face*, it was scorching hot! I'm so grateful we got this story! And now I'll be counting down till that next book releases! With secrets swirling, danger on the horizon, and perilous journeys, A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty was a fabulous continuation of the Kingdom of Lies Series! There were scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Steamy moments that will tug at your heart. And an addictive storyline and world that continues to build and grow. Fans of romantasy definitely need to have this series in their life! “Why would you do this?” she asked. Prisca was a heroine we could easily love and respect. She was smart, had grown so much and her strength and courage gave her a backbone of steel. Yet Prisca was struggling. Not only with learning that she was fated to become the queen. Since she didn't see herself being worthy enough to rule the hybrids. But also with accepting what Lorian was. She was raised to see the Fae as the nightmares and monsters of the world. He was supposed to have been the one who killed her biological parents. And she had been falling for him all along, none the wiser. But as their journey progressed, she still confided in him. Trained with him. And she saw how much he cared and wanted her to be the best she could be. She just needed to learn to accept what he was. He’d asked if I remembered how he’d made me feel. Lorian was protective, lethal, deadly and would do anything to keep Prisca safe. He would hand her the world if he could, yet he lied to her. And according to her, destroyed her past. Yet as a skeptic I kept hoping there was more to the story, because I am ever so hopeful and can only be positive when it comes to Lorian haha. He may be the villain to others, but he could never be that to Prisca. So I loved as we watched him let her grow. That he stood by her as she figured out how to rule and deal with powerful people. And the words he would say to Prisca *screaming while jumping up and down*?! Lorian's words to Prisca were beautiful, powerful and elicited so much emotion! Lorian was the ultimate book boyfriend! “This is never going to work. You and I. We’re doomed. You know that.” While the odds were continually stacked higher against them, they fought with everything they had. I cried tears for Lorian. I was terrified for some of the situations Prisca was put in. And through it all, Lorian and Prisca had the most fabulous banter! It was laced with even more emotion now! They were from opposite ends, even if they were fighting a common enemy. They could never be together, so my heart cried trying to figure out how it'll all work out in the end. So I loved their steamy moments and that they were detailed, explicit, and absolutely fabulous! And when you get to the part where Lorian lists things, try not to have your heart explode! He smiled, as if he’d expected nothing less. We got so many answers to questions, yet we were also left with many more questions. And as the world expanded and we met others, I was completely enthralled. I was happily surprised to see that we got this story in a few different point of views. Prisca was still the main one, and of course Lorian too. But we also got some moments with the Queen. Those moments made me contemplate everything I knew. I did not expect to feel compassion towards her or learn all that we did. There were quite a few times where my mouth was left hanging open. And there was even one moment I cried tears for the Queen, I am still shocked. So where this story ended with her left me terrified. With political intrigue, and dangerous ploys, I can't wait to see what happens next with the Queen! The war had barely begun. And we were already losing. A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty was laced with friendship, love, quests, forgiveness, battles, death and it was so easy to devour! With a star-crossed lovers romance, forced proximity and a found family, just know that this story ended with a fabulous cliffhanger. Don't mind me over here panicking until that next book is in my hands! I absolutely love this world and these characters and I can't wait to see what happens next! I just wanted her to be mine. Sometimes there are stories that are so beautifully crafted that they steal pieces of your heart and soul. They consume your every waking thought. And saying it's one of your favorite books ever still doesn't feel like enough. That was A Court This Cruel and Lovely. This book stole my breath time and again. If you love enemies to lovers, a slow burn romance, forced proximity, found family, a heroine that comes into her power and a morally gray grumpy male then you desperately need this book in your life! This romantasy was everything! I could do this. Prisca lived in a harsh world where when you were born, your magic was taken from you and given to the Gods. It was so they would help protect the borders from the ruthless fae. But Prisca had been keeping a secret. She still had her magic. Which made her part of the corrupt. After those were caught, they were burned to death for defying the Gods. So when Prisca was discovered for still having her magic, she was forced to flee her home and family. And while on the run, she met a man that she had been dreaming about. Yet he left her for dead. “I don’t want anything you’re offering. Remember that time you left me to freeze to death?” I loved Prisca! It hurt to watch her live in a village that she could never stay at, where she would never be able to fall in love, and could never let her guard down. But when she left her home, brother and mother, it was even more gut wrenching to watch. Her whole life changed in the blink of an eye and she was forced to survive or else she would die. Prisca showed us time and again that she was brave, smart, tricky, kind and fearless! Being on the run had her meeting Lorian. Who left her for dead. He was a man she dubbed as a ruthless mercenary. And it was the start of a beautiful enemies to lovers romance that I'm beyond obsessed about. Don’t do it. Don’t you dare do it. Lorian. Oh my heart. He made me laugh when I shouldn't have. He made me like him when I shouldn't have. But I didn't care. I loved that we got his thoughts too. They could be so coarse and ruthless, but I loved when he thought about her. Even when he didn't want to. But make no mistake, he could be so cold at the drop of a hat. And in the next moment he would kill for you. Trick you. Be protective. And keep all of his secrets to himself. I never seemed to know which side Lorian would show us. Yet as the story unfolded, I fell for every single side of him. Something I didn't think was possible. This morally gray male will gladly steal and capture your heart, even if you don't want him to! Nerves fluttered in my stomach. Even though Prisca and Lorain hated each other, they needed one another. And while they had their moments that felt like something more, or there wasn't animosity between them, it never lasted long. Their enemies to lovers romance was done so fabulously! Especially when they would mess with the other. I lived for those moments and couldn't stop smiling when they could be playful and hilarious. Their banter was fabulous and there was always a tension that simmered between them. No matter how much neither one of them wanted to admit it. Beneath the terror, my fury burned bright. So bright, I didn’t have to reach for my power. No, instead, the threads seemed to reach for me, my skin heating. While Prisca, Lorian and his men Marth, Rythos, Cavis and Galon traveled together, there was definitely a strain. Yet as their journey continued, it almost felt as though there was a camaraderie there. One that felt like a fond family. Or maybe that's just what happens when you face life and death moments. I was terrified for so many of those in this story. I cried, I screamed, I gasped, but I also laughed out loud and couldn't stop smiling. And as we watched the story and the characters unfold, I loved where this story led us. It held us in the palm of its hand. “I thought we’d moved past threats of torture,” I muttered. This twists in this story were phenomenal! Some of my guesses were close or right on. Yet other things I didn't even some coming. This is one of those stories where I can't wait to re-read because I can now see the clues. And while reading, I had to know what happened next. The story and characters were impossible to walk away from! I also think that fans of FBAA will fall head over heels in love with this story! Reading those ARCs consumed my whole being these last few years. And this is the first book that has given me all of the same vibes and feels. "...Promise me you’ll free them. And one day, you’ll come back and burn this fucking place to the ground.” A Court This Cruel and Lovely was filled with revenge, murder, survival, jealousy, bargains, betrayal, friendship and more. I loved that these characters had one another's back and put their faith in each other. Even if they didn't want to. I loved that plans were made that led to more. And I especially loved how steamy kisses turned into seductively scorching hot moments. This romantasy was impossible to put down and easily became an instant favorite! I will be counting the moments until that next book is released and I'm so thankful we stopped at the perfect stopping point. I desperately have to know what happens next, yet I can breathe. “How do I know you won’t just kill everyone?” PS Barmaid. I still laugh out loud thinking about that! “I know what we’re about to do. It doesn’t change the fact that I want to strip that dress off you and see what I find beneath it.” PPS I loved the letters Lorian and his brother sent back and forth. One of the last ones he sent back to him was everything for me lol! Spoiler Quotes That I Love: (view spoiler)[ Standing, I leaned closer until I was right in his personal space. “I’ve killed two men since Galon saved me, remember? Just looking at you makes me murderous. So don’t make me try for a third.” He’d taken Galon’s place. And he was staring down at me like he was memorizing my features. Prisca gave me that knowing smile that made me want to strangle her. Or kiss her. Or both. “I know you’re tired. I know. But they need you.” He leaned closer until his mouth was pressed against my neck, right below my ear. “I need you.” He leaned closer. “Tell me you want me, so I can tell you how badly I want you too.” His gaze dropped to my mouth, and his eyes darkened. | I don’t know what I did, but it had to be something, because when you find that everyone hates you, it’s not them. It’s you. - Ryen Punk 57 I don’t know what I did, but it had to be something, because when you find that everyone hates you, it’s not them. It’s you. - Ryen Punk 57 was beautifully deep, insanely seductive and emotionally raw. I was addicted just from the first page, and this book was impossible to put down. Between the emotions the characters made me feel, to the story-line that kept begging for me to read one more page, I loved everything about this book. Especially since Ryen and Misha's story is brutally honest and showed the multiple sides of hurting people and even ourselves. Fuck. I put the pen to the paper and scrawl what my goddamn heart can only whisper. Learning about their past was so adorable. Ryen, a girl, and Misha, a boy, ended up becoming pen-pals in the 5th grade. It all started when their teachers mixed up thinking Ryen was a boy and Misha was a girl. And even after school ended, they continued to write to one another. For the last seven years they created a beautiful friendship with an unbreakable bond through their letters. They poured their hearts out to one another. They told each other their fears, hopes, thoughts and would even argue about everything from pizza to music. But they always had three rules. No phone, no social media and no pictures. And even if they both wanted to break those rules at times, it becomes a moot point. Because some of those rules are about to get thrown out the window. What am I going to do with this girl? Just when I think I have her figured out, she pulls at me a little more. You see, as far as Ryen knows, Misha has disappeared for the last three months. His letters have stopped, but she hasn't given up hope. She continues to write to her best friend and refuses to walk away from him, even when her sister thinks she's crazy. But the thing is, Misha hasn't disappeared. He's right in front of her. And he hates what he sees. She straightens and turns to fix me with a look. “You called me a cunt and cut my hair. You think I’d actually trust you to protect me? Don’t blink too hard, Shit-for-Brains. You might lose your last few brain cells.” - Ryen to Misha And this is where Punk 57 was both scorching hot and utterly heartbreaking. Misha is brutal to Ryen. He's hurtful, mean and viscous to her with his words. The scenes and situations between the two of them would leave my mouth open. I couldn't believe how he had just treated her. Oh gosh, it felt as though my heart would burst and I just wanted to crawl into a hole and curl into a little ball. But at the same point, I got why he acted the way he did. And you learn early on, why he is the way he is to her. So it was hard to be upset at him. Especially when their sexual connection constantly exploded and was hard to ignore. I part my lips, running them over the lip ring and savoring the feel as he groans and digs his fingers into my thighs. I tighten my legs around him, needing to feel him. Misha has this sexuality that is subtle and insanely addicting. He came off not only confident but intoxicating too. Whether it was the looks he would give, or the words he would choose to use, he always left me wanting more. And Ryen couldn't help but be pulled in again and again, no matter how bad Misha hurt her. The scenes between the two of them were beyond sexy, and so, so, so good! “They don’t get you and me. I know that’s what you’re afraid of. You’re perfect. I’m never in line. You’re beautiful, and I’m bad, right?” - Misha to Ryen Since we got to be in both Ryen and Misha's head, we got to crawl into every single dirty, forbidden and brutally honest thought in their mind. Nothing is held back, and it's so addicting! So Punk 57 easily went into my favorites list! If you adore hate to love stories that are scorching hot, then you definitely want to discover this book! Fourth Wing was epic, breathtaking and consumed my every thought. This is easily one of my top favorite books, ever. This book had me screaming from excitement, gasping from betrayal, and crying all the happy and sad tears. Foreshadowing of what was to come was secretly laced into the pages, leaving us with the feeling of dread that was all consuming. The betrayals cut deep. The friendships were beautiful. The enemies to lovers romance was a slow burn that was passionate and steamy. And the battles were intense and epic. If you love romantasy, you definitely need this one on your tbr! "I'm used to functioning in pain, asshole. Are you?" I raise the dagger in my right hand just to prove that I can despite the blood that runs down my arm and drips from the tip of my blade, saturating the wrap across my palm. My gaze drops meaningfully to his side. "I know exactly where I sliced into you. If you don't get to a healer soon, you'll bleed out internally." Violet Sorrengail is one of my favorite heroines. She was smart, cunning and brave. She was so easy to connect to and feel all of her emotions. She thought she was destined to enter the Scribe Quadrant, but her mother changed her future. As the commanding general, her mother forced Violet to go to the Basgiath War College. And there she would either survive and become a dragon rider or die trying like countless others. The trials she went through were gutting, and I found myself cheering out loud for her every step of the way! Violet is a heroine that you can respect and love! His eyes flare, and I don't miss the hint of a smirk on that infuriatingly decadent mouth of his. It should be against the Codex to look that good and be so ruthless. Xanden Riorson was someone that was so easy to obsess over. He was Violet's enemy, because his parents had a rebellion that went against Violet's mom. In punishment, he and the other children of those who rebelled had to attend the Basgiarth War College. Yet by the end of Chapter 7 I was definitely betraying Violet, I was obsessed. Xaden was smart, sly and seemed honorable. His subtle banter with Violet was EVERYTHING! So when Violet would follow through with one his suggestions for training, I was grinning from ear to ear. And when he taught her how to grapple on the mats, it was so hot *fans face*. It seemed like Xaden was trying to protect Violet, yet in her world deception and backstabbing were done without a second thought. So while I was under his spell, I still didn't know whether I could trust him or not. I kept whispering for him not to betray her. The inches between us feel like kindling, ready to burn at the first suggestion of heat, and I'm a living, breathing flame. This is everything I should run form, and yet denying the primal attraction I feel is completely, utterly impossible. This world was fascinating! Maybe I was putting the clues together wrong, but it seemed like not everything was as black and white as Violet was taught. All the while, others around her elicited so many emotions. It was terrifying not knowing who you could trust. There were those who had no problem killing a threat, or just killing for fun. Even the grappling was intense, and I was shocked with my mouth left hanging open over how that would play out. Broken bones were the least of your concerns. So as people showed their true colors over time, some of that made my blood simmer. But at the same time, be careful who you get attached to. Death found some of them too soon. One especially I still can't handle, even after finishing this book *sobs*. "Are you pushing for a reason?" Tarin asks. The dragons in this book were larger than life! I can't say much, because of spoilers, but the conversations and interactions were spellbinding. Also I loved the friendships that were formed between the humans. They were the type of friendships where you knew they would do anything to protect your life. Which is desperately needed since life and death moments were always present. Throughout this story, there was always this charge in the air that left me terrified of what was to come. And it was impossible not to have sweaty palms during some of the scenes or to feel your heart pounding in your chest! Plus the twists and turns were done beautifully! Some of it I saw coming, but others left me with my mind blown! "There is no me without you," he says against my skin. With the most epic of last lines, this book left us at the perfect spot where we can breathe. For a bit. Yet you'll still be left desperately wanting to grab that next one! With emotions and tensions running high, this was an action packed ride! The dragons, sparring, battles, political intrigue, friendships, and scorching hot and seductive scenes made this book beyond memorable. It had my whole heart in the palm of its hand and made me cry all the tears! Fourth Wing was beyond addictive and will easily become a favorite for romantasy fans! "Going for blood today, are we, Violence?" he whispers. Metal hits the mat again and he kicks it past my head and out of my reach. PS The nickname that was given to Violet? I loved it so much! I arch into him and claim his lips, kissing him like this might be the only time I'll get the chance. This kind of desperation isn't natural; it's a wildfire that's likely to burn us both to the ground if we let it. *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. Ruling Destiny was a fast paced romantasy with ***3.5/5 Stars*** All of us at Gray Wolf— including Braxton, and certainly me— we are all liars here. Ruling Destiny was a fast paced romantasy with a love triangle that will keep you on your toes! With so many answers swirling within the pages, I loved how that ending left us desperately needing that next book now! And with short chapters, it was easy to keep entertained, and always needing to know what happened next. “So, which is it?” I snap. “Are you angry or worried?” The two love interests Killian and Braxton left me constantly guessing. Was Killian truly bad or just acting paranoid around Baxton because he couldn't trust him? Or where we supposed to think that Braxton was the one we shouldn't trust? Both of these men kept us and Natasha in the dark. Over what truly happened in their pasts and other aspects about them too. The things we learned, oh my goodness! I almost felt like it was Shatter Me all over again. I always chose the right person in love triangles, except for that series. BUT I'm still holding out hope and doubling down, which may go epically wrong haha. I'm hoping a certain someone will redeem themselves. Because Natasha and that one, oh my heart. They are the WHOLE story for me! The emotions he created within her, even if she wanted to deny them. I feel everything when they were together. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that final book. That things will flip around, because I love him so much *cries*! Yes there was so much more going on then the romance, but for me that was everything. Without hesitation, Killian presses a hand to his heart and, in a solemn voice, says, “I swear to you, Shiv. I swear on the moon to every last word.” Natasha did such a fabulous job of growing within these pages. While at times I thought she might be naïve, looking back she definitely wasn't. She used her instincts beautifully. It was hard not to be impressed with her. Although her bravery definitely scared me a few times. And as her world expanded, I loved learning more about those that surrounded her. And her world. Ohhhhhh what we learned, it was mind boggling. I didn't even think about those certain aspects. I was completely interested in learning more. So with drama, romance and stealing pieces from the past while trying to put clues together, this book was a magical ride! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. Spells for Lost Things was an emotional tale filled with family, friendship, love and hints of magic. This book reached into my heart so easily. The characters were so vivid and bright. The story-line made me read this book way too fast. I loved every minute of it, even the moments that made me cry. If you're looking for a sweet young adult story filled with magic, first love, family mysteries and deep emotions, then definitely make for sure you have this one on your tbr! “I love this place,” I blurt out. We alternated the story between Willow and Mason, and both of them were both so easy to connect with. Willow felt adrift in the world. Her passion in life was traveling. With divorced parents who were both too busy to give her their time, Willow felt so utterly alone. Mason was in the system and had been in and out of foster homes over the years. When he landed up being placed with his mom's old best friend and her family, Mason's whole life changed. Yes he still felt alone but he was determined more than ever to find his mom and be back with her again. When fate landed Willow and Mason together, they both grow in leaps and bounds trying to figure out where they both fit in this world. And along the way, love helped them both in unexpected places. How do I tell him Everything in my future feels fuzzy except for you? Willow's pain radiated out of her and into readers hearts. Her dad was busy with his new family and her mom was absorbed with her work. Neither had time for Willow. It felt like her parents moved on with their lives after the divorce and Willow was left behind in the dust. And her closest friend was a plane flight away. When her mom dragged her to Salem, to settle an estate for an aunt she never knew she existed, Willow started to get peaks into her mom's life from the past. Willow got to meet her witchy aunts. She read spell books. And was sent on a treasure hunt to break a curse. Willow was focused, had big aspirations and had a kind, gentle soul. She was someone you could talk to for hours and trust with your deepest darkest secrets. She was exactly who Mason needed in his life. There are so many ways a relationship can go wrong, it’s amazing we keep trying at all. Mason was drowning in pain too. His mom was an addict and that landed him in foster care. When an old best friend of his mom's stepped in and said she would foster him, Mason ended up in Salem too. I loved Emma, his new foster mom. Her, her husband and the three little girls in their house completely exploded Mason's world. With glitter, love and coffee they slowly started to win Mason over. And my heart was bursting for him just to give them a true chance. So I loved when we got to see Mason trying, like breaking into Nova's world. Or when he allowed the two littler girls to play makeup with him. Or even being able to connect with Emma over their love of coffee. Those moments, no matter how quick they were, meant everything. My heart burst with happiness when Mason would smile or relax around his new foster family. But most of all I loved how he instantly clicked with Willow. It was like destiny was in the stars that they were to meet. Things that Willow and the Night Sky Have in Common: Willow and Mason both clang to hope that their future would lead them to greater things. Willow with traveling and Mason being with his mom again. Yet neither of them were living in the moment, it felt like they were constantly waiting for the future to happen. So when they met it was like they both got to take a deep breath. And when they were together, they lived in those moments. It was sweet, kind and honest. And as they opened up, their friendship became deep so quick. It felt real. It felt like I was there with them. And with witchcraft, secrets, fate, and acceptance, they both were on an emotional journey to discover who they both were. While falling in love along the way. “Every minute with you is magic.” With magic in the air, Spells for Lost Things was such a huge hit! Treasure hunts, spells, acceptance and love made this book impossible to put down! There were moments of laughter and there were also moments where tears kept falling down my face. This book tugged on my heart constantly. And with Willow and Mason, I wanted them desperately to be each other's light in their lives. But at the same time, I wanted their family lives to finally bring them happiness too. Spells for Lost Things was an adorable, emotional tale and I'm looking forward to reading all of Welch's other books! PS While I wouldn't list this book as paranormal, because the spell/witch aspect seemed like it could be in our everyday world. There were a few things that left me questioning just maybe it was more than a contemporary. Like, how did the aunties know about their loves in food? I truly don't know lol. But I guess anything is possible. ♥ *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the publisher. Once Upon a Broken Heart was a magically, unique story. The world was phenomenal and came alive from the pages. Everything captured your attention and you were left not sure what was true or not. Yet it was all beautiful and breathtaking. I would love to live in this world! The characters completely fascinated me and I fell in love. But beware because darkness was hidden here and there, but it didn't even matter because this story will creep up on you and own every part of you! “I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.” That first chapter pulled me in. I loved Evangeline Fox and her broken heart. She thought her true love was cursed and she would do anything to stop the wedding. He was marrying her step sister and it was breaking her heart. Beyond desperate, Evangeline went to the chapel of the Prince of Hearts. Jacks. She made a deal with a Fate to stop the wedding. Yet the outcome and everything afterwards was nothing Evangeline could ever fathom. And it set her on a path she didn't even realize she couldn't control. He gave her a real smile, revealing a pair of dimples that briefly made him look more angel than devil. But she imagined even angels would need to beware of him. She could picture him flashing those deceptive dimples as he tricked an angel into losing its wings just so he could play with the feathers. Evangeline was someone I instantly liked! Her shattered heart reached out to me and I felt her pain. And as we watched her, I loved her tenacity, her strength and her ability to see the goodness in others. Her heart was pure and she always tried her best. But most of all, I loved her cleverness. I wanted Evangeline to find happiness. Especially since she felt so alone. After making the deal with Jacks, I was beyond curious where it would lead Evangeline! “Do you stare at everyone like that, or just me?” Jacks looked up. Vivid blue eyes met hers. Jacks was hilarious without even trying. His humor gripped me and I laughed at the most inappropriate times. It made me fall for him even harder. Yet Jacks was someone I'm still trying to understand. Yes he had his goals. He seemed to know what he wanted. But I would catch glimmers of hope and moments where Evangeline would make him pause. He didn't seem to expect much from his future, but it felt like Evangeline made him see himself as more. So my heart cried for Jacks. I just wanted goodness in his life and for that goodness to be Evangeline! He held on to her as if she were a grudge, his body rigid and tense, as if he really didn’t want her there, and yet his arms were tight around her waist as though he had no intention of ever letting her go. Jacks and Evangeline together were everything. I loved that Jacks would go and mess with Evangeline, that he seemed to change the tune of their story. I was all for it. But I would also question why he did certain things. At times he cut me. And I would have died to know his thoughts. But then in that next moment he would go above and beyond. Jacks was a mystery. Whose looks set me on fire. And who melted my heart every time he called Evangeline, Little Fox. “Jacks, what did you do?” she whispered. “It’s not what I did, Little Fox. It’s what you’ve done. And tomorrow night, you get to do even more.” I questioned so much, practically everything. I trusted no one except Evangeline. While I desperately wanted to trust Jacks, I kept reminding myself that wouldn't be wise. No matter how much I was falling for him. And even when he told us the truth, I questioned what was he keeping from us. This book had so many twists and mysteries and they kept me on my toes! So many of the side characters shined brightly too. One of my favorites was Lala. She fascinated me to no end. And even the Prince did too. Evangeline didn’t know if she wanted to laugh or cry. Prophecies, truths, and fairy-tales all swirled together and made Once Upon a Broken Heart feel so magical. With characters that were easy to love and a beautiful story, this book will sweep you away! This world will always be one of my most favorites! And that ending, oh how tricky this story was. Make for sure you have the next book, because you'll desperately need it! The Bad Boy's Good Girl was an enemies to lovers that was addictive, swoon worthy and beyond intoxicating! From that very first page I was hooked! This story took place at an academy and I loved being lost in their world and lives. Deals were made. Secrets took place. And it all made this book impossible to put down! If you love young adult romance or academy books then you definitely need this one on your tbr! In a sea of perfection, she strode confidently in her scuffed checkered Vans with her head held high—messy, falling-down bun and all. Ava Deluca ended up in a twisted situation that landed her at King's Prep Academy. It was a dream school to attend and would help her reach the stars with her love of art. Yet, there was one huge hiccup. She got a scholarship there to make up for Logan King's actions to her mother, and her. Logan was not one to be messed with. He could be the devil, and Ava found herself right in his cross-hairs. I knew I should've been sorry or scared— or both. Logan came across as beyond conceited, spoiled and he seemed to see the worst in certain people. So when Ava landed in Logan's world, she gave it right back to him as good as he gave it. While that made him pause, it set off a chain reaction for their enemies to lovers relationship. Logan always got what he wanted, and unfortunately he wanted Ava gone from his school. But I held out all the hope. Because there were tiny flickers of another Logan, or maybe it was a side of him I wanted him to be. I wasn't sure. Regardless, I held out hope that he had a heart buried underneath it all. And as we slowly got to witness who Logan truly was, I fell hard! “Did you need something?” I asked . “Or are you here to annoy me as usual?” I loved Ava right away! She had so much fire and sass. She also had a ton of heart too, and I loved her relationship with her mom! But at King's Prep Academy, Ava quickly realized she was in over her head. The girls there were beyond mean and viscous. The bullying Ava experienced broke my heart! It seemed that she was trying to be wrecked at every single turn. But regardless, Ava kept her head up and still had her kindness. Which turned her situation around in a way I didn't expect, yet entirely loved! That moment of kindness transformed her future and I couldn't read this book fast enough to see what happened next! “You know what?” she asked softly. When I didn’t answer, she blazed ahead anyway. “I don’t think you’re as bad as you try to be.” Ava and Logan together were like a storm that you never knew which way it would blow. I loved their banter and that Ava wouldn't back down. She would go head to head with Logan and wasn't afraid of his games. And even when they hurt each other, I still loved every single one of their moments on the pages! The passion between them was so intense. While they definitely wanted to hate the other, they couldn't not be attracted to each other too. So when help coming from unlikely sources, and the lengths those went to protect others, it just made this book that much more addictive! And payback?! Eeps, I can't even! It was all so perfect! How do you get close to a girl when there are a million reasons she should stay as far away from you as she possibly can? The Bad Boy's Good Girl was an addictive, young adult romance that many will absolutely love! With friendships, romance and family laced throughout the pages it made this book an instant favorite! And with a strong enemies to lovers vibe set at an academy, I was obsessed! Now I'm just needing more stories from this world please! Could Logan's sister or Chris be next? I hope! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. Prince of Ruin was wickedly seductive and intoxicating. While I binged this book in one sitting, it sure didn't feel like a novella. The world was richly imagined, the characters leaped from the pages and the story-line was one I kept thinking about long after I finished that last page. If you're looking for a steamy, paranormal romance you definitely need to give this one a try! It landed right on my favorites list! Uriel’s words echoed in her head. “What price are you willing to pay for redemption?” Sera was a former angel who was now in a human body. To redeem herself from the past and prevent a war from happening, she needed to steal the shard of Michael's sword back. But stealing it had consequences. Azazel had the shard, and she would have to get close to him to take it from under his nose. Azazel was a demon, who she had once fallen for. Hard. Their love was forbidden and betrayal was going to be laced throughout their future, again. “Once upon a time a demon fell in love with an angel.” His voice was like velvet over her skin, but she could sense the threat within the words. I absolutely loved Sera! She was so brave, cunning and fearless. She did what she believed was right. Even if that meant she had to trick, lie or weave stories to others. It all led her to where she needed to be. And at the end of the day, she protected those she loved and would do anything for them. So when Sera wore angel wings and white into Azazel's demon club, she easily grabbed Azazel's attention. She toyed with him, just like she wanted. Now all she had to do was locate and steal back the shard! Azazel leaned down, a gentle kiss spilling from his brutal lips. It stirred against Sera’s lips. A kiss of heat and sin. A promise of sweetness and seduction. Azazel was wickedly charming. Yes he could be deadly and ruthless. But underneath him simmered so much more. He was lust. He was power. And he was someone Sera knew she couldn't trust. Their past proved it, didn't it? At the same time, Azazel could also be kind, caring and extremely attentive....for a demon. Sera played a tricky game when it came to Azazel. She didn't think he would know it was her. But they both got sent down a path that neither of them saw coming! You loved him. Once. The chemistry between Sera and Azazel was electrifying. When they physically got together, their moments were extremely passionate, erotic and scorching hot! But sacrifice, duty and love swirled throughout the pages. And those sacrifices and risks that were taken were absolutely everything! I was obsessed with how their story unfolded. Plus, there were other characters I can't wait to learn more about, especially Sera's technowitch friend, Tayla. She was hilarious! There’d been a moment where he’d looked at her, and she saw the angel she’d loved. Prince of Ruin left us at the perfect stopping spot. We were left with a happily for now that allowed us to breathe, but I desperately need more! I can't wait to see what happens next, there is still so much story to tell! Prince of Ruin was a forbidden love story that was sinfully hot and completely consumed me! It's a must read for paranormal romance lovers! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. Speak of the Demon was impossible to put down! With the start of an enemies to lovers romance and danger at every turn, it made this book so easy to devour. It was fun, magical and beyond addictive! Fans of urban fantasy or those looking for a quick series to binge, make for sure you have this on your tbr! But don't forget to start with Fool the Demon, it's a great introduction to this world. Samael leaned close. “You smell familiar, little witch.” Danica's thoughts made it so easy to connect to her. She made me laugh, and I loved that she allowed us to see her world in such an easy, vivid way. She was brave, fearless, and kept going even in the face of death. I loved how dedicated, ruthless and so wickedly clever she was! When she ended up being Samael's bounty hunter, I was so excited yet nervous for her. Something was hunting demons, and he needed her to find out what was hurting his people. So while yes, he thought she was beautiful, he also knew her skills. She had made a reputation for herself, and he knew that she could get him answers, when others had failed. Exactly when did I begin having dirty thoughts about the demon? This was not okay. It must have something to do with being weak and healing from the attack. Witches did not lust after demons. Samael was a morally grey character who was swoon worthy. We got the story in both of their povs and it was intoxicating seeing that he was calm, collected, deadly, possessive and shockingly thoughtful too. When he was around Danica, I couldn't stop smiling. Their interactions had me laughing out loud with how they messed and toyed with one another. It was done so perfectly. And the chemistry between them was through the roof hot. Their sexual tension was done so fabulously! And it was fun seeing Danica keep Samael on his toes. As the story unfolded, it was addictive watching that Samael would do anything to protect her. No matter the cost. “You’re a walking armory,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to the tip of my nose. The move was so surprisingly tender that all I could do was stare up at him, momentarily stunned. Fond family, enemies to lovers, a slow burn romance and characters that were so easy to love were laced through the pages. And as someone who has already finished this series, I have to say that this series is binge worthy! One of my favorite things about this series, besides the characters, is how well it was planned out. This story was so intricate and well executed. I thought there were things from this book that were just left up in the air. Or didn't make sense or were holes. Nope! All of our answers could be found in future books. Sometimes it took a while, but it's woven into the storyline so well. So as pieces fell together, I wanted to clap out loud, because it was masterfully done! Fans of urban fantasy should definitely binge this series too! For more of my reviews, please visit: [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] [image] ...more |

Fauxmance was absolutely adorable and so much fun! With laugh out loud and sigh worthy moments, this heartwarming story became a quick favorite! And with a fun and flirty vibe, this was YA at its best! If you're looking for a young adult romance that will keep you smiling and laughing, you definitely need this book in your life! "Let me prove it to you." After Magnolia got dumped by her longtime boyfriend, the day before her sister's wedding, she was lost without an escort. And her sister was a stickler for how she wanted her wedding to run. Thankfully fate intervened and Magnolia found herself stuck in an elevator with Hayden. And while there was definitely a connection, and lots of chemistry with a swoon worthy kiss, Hayden was completely against weddings. Except Hayden needed to prove he was no longer a player and Magnolia desperately needed a date. What could be the harm of fake dating each other to get what they both wanted? As he leaned back, Hayden gave me a soft smile. "Don't sound so worried. I'm going to be the perfect fake boyfriend." You will passionately fall in love with Hayden! He was beyond sigh worthy. With a bad boy, cynical vibe, I loved his cocky ways! But he could also make me laugh so hard. Messing up names, comparing Magnolia to his grandma, honestly there was so much uniqueness to Hayden that I loved learning everything there was about him! Especially his sweet side, like how he would stand up for Magnolia or say wonderful things about her. He could be such a good guy. Cookie O'Gorman created another book boyfriend that I was completely obsessed with! "I couldn't stop thinking about you," he said, and my heart tried to escape my chest— right up until he added, "Your strange fear of peeps and how you refuse to eat without a napkin really made an impression." I loved Magnolia with my whole heart! She was definitely someone you would want to be bff with. She was so honest, but at the same time she cracked me up. With always having her sister's back and her heartfelt dreams of being a bridesmaid, Magnolia was so adorable! I loved the relationship she had with her mom, I loved that she went to therapy and I loved what a good, kindhearted person she was! So watching how far she grew from that first page to the last warmed my heart! I caught myself staring at Hayden's hands as he drove— the same hands that had gripped my waist and tucked my hair behind my ear. My gaze moved to his lips, and I shivered. I could still feel the imprint of them on my skin. Magnolia and Hayden were definitely opposites in quite a few ways. I loved how she tried her best to be positive whereas Hayden no problems putting it all out there and being realistic. But their interactions together had me laughing so hard at times I couldn't breathe. So with gestures that were smile inducing, second hand embarrassment that made you feel everything, and moments that will make you gasp out loud, this is the type of book that you can easily devour in one sitting! And with fake dating laced throughout the pages, just try your hardest not to smile from beginning to end! But what if it could've been more? my mind whispered. Fauxmance was swoon worthy, giggle inducing and impossible to put down! I literally squeaked, gasped, laughed and screamed out loud while reading this story. It was entertaining, captivating and the epilogue was the cutest! If you adore young adult romance, or the fake dating trope, you definitely need to meet Magnolia and Hayden! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. With castles, a queen, an assassin and so much up in the air, this enemies to lovers story will keep readers hooked! I definitely need to go back and binge all of Lisette Marshall’s backlist! Dont get attached. It was the first rule of his world. Runo, a paid assassin, received orders from his Empress to kill Queen Tamar. Yet from the moment Runo showed up to murder Tamar, things didn’t go as planned. It all ended up going a little bit sideways, especially since neither of them could deny the intense chemistry between them. The desire. The fact that they felt something, which is rare in both of their lives. Yet at the end of the day, they were from two different worlds. But fate doesn’t always follow the simplest of paths. Something stirred in her, and she feared it wasn’t hate alone. Queen Tamar put up a good facade. Those around her listened to her and followed her orders. All because people feared her, since she ruled with an iron fist. She was driven and cold on the outside, but entirely different on the inside. My heart hurt for how lonely she was. She truly didn’t have a friend in the world. She was a good and fair ruler and we got to see how her past shaped her into who she was today. The moment Runo waltzed into her life, it allowed us to see a completely different side of Tamar. And I ended up really liking and respecting her! He smiled. He couldn’t help it. A warped triumph was rising in him, a sensation like that last, expectant turn before winning a game. A dangerous feeling to allow, sitting in a cell and staring down a queen not particularly known for her mildness. It should be no surprise that I fell hard for Runo. He was a paid assassin. A murderer. He was to have no heart and do what he was told. But from the moment he met Queen Tamar, she made him pause. We got to see his humanity and all of the other sides of Runo that he kept buried. He was so resourceful and clever, and I loved that his arrogance knew no bounds. But he too lived a lonely life. And the more time he spent around Tamar, the more he wanted to not follow his orders. For the first time ever. ‘As a general piece of advice, don’t expect assassins to care about your wellbeing.’ Any moment that Tamar and Runo were together, the sexual tension was intense. I loved that they both weren’t what the other expected and that they also got under each other’s skin. Tamar should hate Runo for what he was to do. Runo should feel nothing towards Tamar and do his job. And them ever being together was forbidden. But what unfolded instead was a web of clues, deceit, trust and the start of something so much more. The stakes become higher as each page passed, since a traitor was after both of their lives. They were forced to team up and I loved how this story unraveled and played out! In his arms she felt like everything he ever held dear in his life. Iron was an extremely seductive tale filled with twists and turns. Sexual tension dripped from the pages and consumed me. And while I did start out this story confused and lost, once Runo and Tamar met I was hooked! There was so much passion and heat between them. Ohhh I have to say I should have put the clues together, but I devoured this book way too fast and ended up being shocked with how something played out. Eeps. Now I’m trying to patiently wait for the next book in this series. While it stopped at a spot that calms my heart, there was way too much up in the air to know what will happen next. I can’t wait! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. A War of Two Queens was a stunning continuation of The Blood and Ash Series! Within the pages swirled hope, love, friendship, death, trials and so much more. And while this story is within the From Blood and Ash Series, the ties into A Shadow in the Ember intensified my emotions even more. It is a must read before you dive into this book! With tears, laughter, heartache and joy mingled together, this book was impossible to put down. If you're a fan of this series, fantasy, JLA or romance, you definitely need these books in your life! Together. From the very first page, my heart was in my throat. I was elated that we got chapters in Castel's pov, but it hurt at the same time. The pain and suffering we watched him go through gutted me to the core. I wanted more than retribution, I wanted to watch those who hurt him burn a slow and painful death. The Blood Queen had to be stopped! And while Poppy had the draken and wolven behind her, she needed to solidify the Altlanians to join her battle. To take down the Blood Queen and free her King. The paths Cas and Poppy took throughout this story were an action packed, emotional ride! If I screamed, if I gave in to all the pain and rage, the sound of desperation and anguish would become wrath and fury. The scream choking me, the power building inside me, tasted of death. I loved watching Poppy became even more confident in herself and her decisions. I wanted to stand up and cheer for her. She was so strong and someone to look up to. Yet at the same time, her hurt bled from the pages. The trials she had to go through and the heart wrenching lessons she learned continually pulled on my emotions. And Poppy's heart wasn't whole. She ached for Cas. For knowing the horror that he must be going through. But through it all, thank the gods she had Kieran. I loved how he stood by her in her time of need. I loved that he had her back without any hesitation. Kieran was a beautiful soul and the truest of friends. It was so easy to love him. “Two hearts. We’re two hearts.” I brushed my lips over her brow, closing my eyes. “One soul. We’ll find each other again. We always will—” Cas is my top favorite book boyfriend. The things he would do for love and those he cared for?! He was everything. I felt all of his emotions right along with him, but for parts of the story, I didn't even know what to feel at times. Rage, sorrow, loss? I didn't even know. It all blurred together. But even when he was backed into a corner, I knew Cas would persevere. Just like he always did. No matter how dire the situation. And with Cas there was also elation, hope and so much love that warmed me from the inside out. I couldn't wait until I could see him joking around with Poppy again. For them to touch. For the passion to burn between them. I needed them back together and whole. His hand tightened in my loose braid of hair. “He is still yours. You are still his.” Even through the heartache and pain, we were given so many moments that made us laugh and smile. They helped heal my heart and allowed me to breathe. Reaver, Delano, Netta, and so many more added to that. The friendships that wove throughout this story were breathtaking and real. It added the lightness that was desperately needed in the moments of darkness. And I for one can't wait to see where some of them go! Although I have to say that Reaver was definitely one of my top favorites. He could be such a grump and it almost seemed like he could antagonize others without any effort at all lol, but I absolutely loved him! I knew what I would feel if I let my senses stretch. Horror. Horror so potent, I would never be able to wash it away. With questions answered that made me scream I knew it out loud, there were others that made me second guess everything I knew. The twists and turns in this book were heart-stopping! I never knew what would happen next or who would be safe. I was kept on the edge of my seat trying my best to keep my emotions in check. But it never worked. Tears silently streaked down my face. And other times I couldn't stifle the gasp or sobs this story invoked from me. Thankfully there were happy tears mixed in their also. But hold on, because there were so many emotions within these pages! My Queen. My soul. My savior. Poppy. The War of Two Queens consumed my every waking thought and this story easily became an instant favorite. The series continued to unfold in a way that was not only intricate but had me beyond fascinated! And the characters easily owned my heart. I was so happy to see that the ending left us at a spot where we could somewhat relax, yet I'm beyond ecstatic to pick up that next book! I absolutely loved this book and this series. I can't recommend them enough! ***Coming back on release day to share some of my favorite quotes and one thought I had. There are LOTS of spoilers so please don't click unless you have read this book*** (view spoiler)[As someone who was extremely anti-joining, I should have had faith and trusted Jen to write it in a way that I was comfortable with. I've read her books since 2014 and she has never once steered me wrong. The way the joining was written was explicit in some ways but not in others. It was steamy enough for those who were wanting it but also respectful in a way for those who didn't want it. I didn't feel as though it took away from Poppy and Cas. I didn't feel as though their relationship was altered. Now Kieran is protected thank goodness ♥. It had been my message that had antagonized the Blood Queen. My hand that held the blade that’d severed King Jalara’s head. My actions that had guided the Blood Queen’s hand. I had taken the risk , believing she wouldn’t harm him. Not when she needed him. I’d been mistaken. “You have me,” he swore against my swollen lips. “Always.” “From the first moment I saw you smile… And heard you laugh? Gods,” I rasped, and she shuddered, her beautiful eyes closing. “From the first time I saw you nock an arrow and fire without hesitation? Handle a dagger and fight beside another? Fight me? I was in awe. I’m never not in awe of you. I’m always utterly mesmerized. I’ll never stop being that. Always and forever.” The war had started when I killed King Jalara. But this… this was the first battle. My hold on the reins tightened as my heart thumped heavily. “That hurt more than any of his punches did. I think you cracked a few ribs.” “You’ll probably be concerned to hear this, but also not surprised,” Casteel said, and the smoky, spicy flavor in my mouth crowded out the taste of death. “But I found that wildly… hot.” “You punch him?” Tawny asked, blinking. “Hell, yes , I am.” He lowered his head to mine, his voice low when he said, “I cannot wait to feel your fangs on my skin.” My heart beat so fast, it was like the fluttering wings of a wild bird taking flight. “I’m safe with both of you.” “From blood and ash,” I shouted, lifting the hand joined with Poppy’s. People echoed the words through the town and the valley. “Don’t make me do this, Penellaphe.”(hide spoiler)] *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author. A Wicked and Beautiful Garden was an enchanting tale that will sweep you away! With magic, questions and the unknown swirling around, it made this book impossible to put down. If you’re a fan of fantasy or urban fantasy, then you’ll definitely want this one on your tbr! Once upon a time, I had fallen in love with him, and to him, I was nothing more than a momentary distraction. Cassie Strega was kind, caring and felt so much around her. She loved her job of delivering babies and living in her quiet, little town. So when her ex walked back into her life, everything changed. The loss of Orion had devastated Cassie years ago. Little did she know that she would need his help soon. The world was about to wake up knowing that witches exist, and Cassie was one of them. But he needed her help too. Orion, who was Fae, was searching for a baby. She was their queen who was to lead them into battle against the demons. And that same baby had been calling to Cassie. With so much at stake and up in the air, their fates were irrevocably tied together...for now. “Take what you need from me, Cass.” His hot breath tickled my ear. “Take everything and all you need. I’m yours.” I wasn’t sure what to think of Orion MacAleese at first. He was a warrior Fae that was tasked with finding their queen. And while he didn’t always play by the rules, it was obvious that he still cared for Cassie. Fiercely. He would do anything to protect her and he showed her time and again exactly that with his actions and words. While Orion could be thoughtful and caring, he also had kept many secrets from Cassie. And Cassie struggled with his deception and secrets, while trying to ignore the passion that was running between them. Making the strands a rugged mess, Orion shoved a frustrated hand through his hair. “What do you want me to say?” I loved learning about Cassie’s powers right along with her. She had always been able to read human’s emotions, but as she learned about controlling the elements I was fascinated. I also loved watching what Orion was capable of, I was jealous of his transporting skills! But with life and death situations surrounding them, and fate constantly pushing them together, it was hard to ignore all of the emotions there. Cassie tried her best to keep Orion at an arm’s length away, but as we got peaks into their past it was so obvious how wonderful they were together. As they continued to work on their common goal, to find the baby, it became harder to ignore that they belonged together. And the chemistry, lust and love that swirled around them. “Heaven, hell and earth, Cassie. I will move each and every single one for you.” A Wicked and Beautiful Garden will keep readers hooked from beginning to end! I’m so happy that the ending was the perfect stopping spot! We got to breathe for a moment and even got a few answers, but there are still so many unanswered questions. From how their world worked, to those around Cassie, to even her past, I can’t wait to learn it all! If you’re a fan of JLA, I think there may be a good chance you’ll enjoy this book! There were quite a few elements in this series that reminded me of a few of JLA’s series, so if you like her stories then I think you’ll like this one too! I can’t wait for that next book! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author.
