Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods? More like Percy Jackson and the 268 Pages of Me Crying.
I do not exaggerate when I say this is one of the most special books I've read this year. If you're looking for a heartwarming story and what could be (but likely is not yet) a perfect conclusion to a wonderful series, then look no further. This tugged at a whole new kind of heartstrings for me.
The Chalice of the Gods tackled a topic that I think is often overlooked in literature made for kids and young adults: the idea of embracing aging and loving yourself throughout your various stages of life. This is such a special topic to me because it is a bit rare and certainly not something I ever expected to see within a Percy Jackson story.
So for that reason, this is one of the easiest five star ratings I've ever given. I am so grateful I picked up this book. Even if I didn't love every one of its predecessors, this sixth installation in the series made my many hours of reading worth it. Thank you, Rick Riordan.

Follow-up to the fun and funny Who Could That Be at This Hour?, I expected to love this just as much as its five-star predecessor. However, I sadly ended up very, very disappointed.
This book reads more like someone trying to impersonate Lemony Snicket's writing style, which takes away mostly everything that makes his books so enjoyable. Rather than quick quips to make you laugh, this book drags you on what feels like a never-ending ride of unfunny repetition.
I hate to review a child's book poorly, because that's what it is, after all: a kid's story. But as somebody who enjoys these books, I was highly disappointed in the quality of this one. I don't think I'll be finishing the series.
Such a cute read! Who Could That be at This Hour? is the perfect follow up to watching and/or reading A Series of Unfortunate Event5 stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Such a cute read! Who Could That be at This Hour? is the perfect follow up to watching and/or reading A Series of Unfortunate Events. It has a similar tone, yet slightly less down-in-the-dumps subject matter, as suggested by the differing series titles (lol).
With enjoyable characters and a childlike, mysterious story, this book is a must for fans of Lemony Snicket's other writing! I will definitely be reading the next installation in the series.

Terrible, I know, but child me never felt the need to pick one up. Now, I finally understand the hype. What an absolutely adorably creepy story!...more

And it just so happens this is the exact type of book this type of person wants to read. The distinctly odd writing style, the characters, the thought put into the tiniest of details—it's simply too marvelous not to love.
Instead of going on and on about how much I love this story, I will leave you with one last parting thought. The Netflix series is adapted nearly word for word to the screen. It really could not have been executed more perfectly, meaning you have a great follow up after you finish this fantastic read.
Another fantastic addition to the series, but my goodness is Aunt Josephine annoying!
Similar to the first two book in the series, The Wide WindowAnother fantastic addition to the series, but my goodness is Aunt Josephine annoying!
Similar to the first two book in the series, The Wide Window is just plain great. The characters, storyline and, most importantly, the humorous writing style feel like a perfect continuation of what I've already read.
My only real problem was Aunt Josephine. My gosh! She drove me nuts. I know she was supposed to, but still... She was just so irritating, and I never developed any sort of feeling toward her. She was just there. And very, very irritating.
But as you can see from my rating, one bothersome character definitely didn't ruin the whole story. I still loved it!
If you haven't picked up a book from this series yet, I would definitely recommend you do so! It's truly the sort of story that anyone of any age can enjoy.
Violet Baudelaire is a revolution in the female character construct.
This book is so funny and imaginative and delightfully strange.

This book is so funny and imaginative and delightfully strange.
But let's talk about Violet. What a positively outstanding character. Gentle and kind and funny and intelligent and sensible and feminine and brave. It just doesn't get better than that.
