This story, though set in WWII Germany in a brutal internment camp used for torture and experimentation, is about a relationship. A Dom/sub relationship, and at first I misinterpreted it. Initially I thought of Stockholm syndrome, that the captive had fallen in love with his captor. But no. This is about identity. Ownership. Surrender. And sadism.
Wow.
The writing, eloquent and slightly irreverent, disturbed me. Too many pauses, unnecessary commas. I despised the characters, hated the MASTERS with every fiber of my being. Feared them. Loved them.
And Erich...oh my soul! Erich, so beautiful, so transparent, so pure. So sub.
This book will remain significant to me...forever. I feel changed after having read it, and isn't that what we crave in literature. Step outside your safety zone and rush out to buy this one. It might be the best story you've ever read....more

"Dark" doesn't begin to describe the creepy plot, complete with an abduction, torture, rape, forced drug addiction, and unspeakable sadism. I almost abandoned the story halfway through, perturbed that the BDSM element was so distorted, but then I realized this story is NOT BDSM. "BDSM" stands for bondage, domination, sadism, and masochism. Although the story contains the first three elements, the "sub" was not a sub at all. He was a victim, kidnapped and forced into slavery. This non-consensual dynamic alone would not have been enough to shake me, though. There are lots of stories that depict victimization, brutality, and all manner of cruelty.
What got to me was that the author actually got into the head of the aggressor. It was a place that made me extremely uncomfortable. I really didn't want to know the psyche of this bastard. Instead, I just wanted to crush him like a bug.
I have to say that if ever I've encountered a book I could describe as "riveting", this is it. I raced through the pages, yearning for a resolution. I deeply cared for Aaron, the main character, yearned for him to find an escape, and prayed he'd be able to get his revenge on his tormentor.
Silly me. Of course there was no resolution. Of course, no revenge. The story left me hanging! And now I have to go buy book two. But I'm hopeful it'll be worth it. This author is an amazing story teller and he's created a story far more thought provoking and memorable than any I've read in a long time....more

They are extremely erotic, very graphic, and incredibly well-written and well-edited.
My intention was to give this book five stars, and I would have done so if not for the very last story. Although I understand the perspective of this first-person narrative, the story itself was beyond disturbing to me. It accounted for 30% of the book and it included scenes which were horrifyingly sadistic. The protag repeatedly stated he was not a pain slut, yet the Master continued torturing him.In all honestly, this story will give me nightmares... and it brought tears to my eyes.
Overall, I loved the anthology. I plan to read everything I can get my hands on by this author and will quickly recommend his books to other readers who appreciate authentic BDSM. One added note: this should be required reading for the wannabe BDSM authors in the mm romance genre, particularly those who are squeamish about the realities of a 24/7 BDSM relationship....more

The concept of the story was kind of hot. This sinister madman kidnaps a group of straight guys and uses torture and milking to turn them into his slaves. He force-feeds them drugs and brainwashes them, then he goes so far as to implant devices into their ears where he can feed a constant flow of directives into their mind.
Certainly not a romance, but if you like Dom/sub themes that include humiliation and enslavement, you may enjoy it... if you can overlook the grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors....more

Andrew Ashton is only fourteen when his mother’s attorney tries to molest him. Although Andrew is at first disgusted and rebuffs the lawyer’s advancesAndrew Ashton is only fourteen when his mother’s attorney tries to molest him. Although Andrew is at first disgusted and rebuffs the lawyer’s advances, ultimately Andrew pities the man and has sex with him voluntarily. Oddly the boy is on some level flattered by the attention, and he concludes that the poor pedophile cannot help the fact that he’s attracted to young, attractive boys.
Andrew knows already that he is gay, and he’s secretly harbored a crush on his closest friend Sean Denham. Sean has no interest in Andrew, however, for he is straight. When Andrew finally musters the courage to come out to Sean, his friend is very supportive. In fact, Sean even goes so far as to offer to have sex with Andrew in order to preserve their friendship. Andrew, of course, declines the offer, knowing it would merely be pity sex.
Sean is the first of three love interests which are introduced in the story. Toby is the second. He’s a water boy for the school’s basketball team. Andrew finds him on his property one evening, hiding naked in the bushes. He has just been raped, and the perpetrator has stolen his clothing. He also has walked through broken glass, and the shards are imbedded in the boy’s feet. Andrew rescues him, takes him home and clothes him, tends to his wounded feet. The two make love and are henceforth eternally fond of one another. Toby, however, is romantically involved with several members of the basketball team and is not seeking a relationship.
It is Andrew’s step brother Davey, whom Andrew deeply desires. The boy is younger than Andrew and is quiet and delicate. Andrew fantasizes about him and craves his affection, but he is uncertain of how young Davey will receive his advances. Again Andrew conceals his feelings and pines away his infatuation for his fantasy lover.
Davey’s elder brother Dan is the polar opposite of the introverted Davey. Dan is brash and obnoxious, and Andrew despises him. When Andrew’s mother dies a few months prior to Andrew’s eighteenth birthday, Dan and his father devise a plan to enslave Andrew and steal his inheritance. Andrew learns about it at the very last moment and has just enough time to turn the tables on the evildoers and exact a scheme of diabolical revenge.
If this plot summary seems confusing, the book itself proves to be all the more overwhelming. Numerous characters and sub-plots emerge, and a cohesive theme is not immediately apparent. It feels almost as if the story were written as a serial of installments which were eventually pieced together to form a single book.
The topic of indentured service, or slavery, is introduced early in the story and initially appears to be incidental to the plot. In this fictional modernistic setting, slavery is a reality which appears to be accepted by-and-large by mainstream society. Humans are sold into slavery as a means of satisfying financial debt. It is also used as a crime deterrent, and instead of imprisoning criminals, the government merely enslaves them.
Within this context, slavery is not regarded as an expression of BDSM power play. In fact, although submissive characters are introduced, the very idea of an unequal relationship is dismissed as unhealthy or insane. Slavery is presented as an evil and sadistic form of torture, and the cruel manner in which humans are broken into their roles as slaves is described in a shockingly titillating and graphically humiliating manner. The author goes into explicit detail as he portrays the sexual public humiliation of these hapless victims.
The writing style is free-flowing and conversational. The bulk of the novel is written in the first person narrative, told by the protagonist Andrew. The epilogue is told in third person. Throughout the book, the author occasionally slips into monologues where he addresses his reading audience directly. These brief patches of second-person narrative are somewhat jarring.
My biggest issues with the story itself were the casual manner in which pedophilia was presented and the mixed messages which were expressed about the Dom/sub dynamic. Admittedly, I have a personal bias about the issue of pedophilia, and for this reason I’m not confident that I can objectively evaluate a book which deals with this topic. My subjective opinion clearly is one of distaste. I was repulsed by the pedophile character Geoffrey and was disgusted that he was written sympathetically.
Concerning the Dom/sub element within the story, I felt the relationship between Andrew and Davey had the potential to be explored in depth. Obviously Davey identified as sub and Andrew was rather dominant, yet the author seemed to be suggesting that submissiveness was synonymous with low self esteem. It seemed to me that the story was an indictment upon the entire Dom/sub dynamic, although the twisted form of slavery which was depicted is nothing at all like a real-life BDSM relationship.
It also seemed contradictory to me that the graphic humiliation scenes were written in such a titillating manner, yet the story’s message was that this was barbaric and sadistic. I almost felt as if I should feel guilty for having been aroused by the humiliation.
There were some scenes within the book which required me to suspend disbelief. When Toby was rescued and had shards of glass embedded in the soles of his feet, he did not even bleed when the glass was removed. He also immediately walked thereafter. In another scene, a man was fisted without any lubrication being used.
Generally speaking, I enjoyed the writing style of this author. I found the central character to be endearing, and I yearned for him to discover genuine happiness. I felt the revenge scene accomplished the objective for which it was written, but I was confused as to its message. It seemed the author was toying with his own attraction to Domination, yet he couldn’t allow himself to write a hot Dom scene simply for the sake of it. He had to instead present it as evil.
I’d love to see a BDSM story by this author, one in which the hot Domination scenes are presented guilt-free as an expression of delicious power play. The author clearly has a talent; I’m just not sure I can embrace the premise of this particular story....more

All of the stories are of similar theme: sexual submission of a resistant strong-willed male to the will and authority of another male. In most of the stories, the Dominant male is an enemy who has outwitted or conquered the protagonist. In all cases, the initial sexual contact is non-consensual, and it is also intensely degrading and sadistically humiliating.
The sexual descriptions are vivid and remarkably erotic, and these sexual acts include forced anal intercourse (rape), bondage, oral sex (minimal and quickly brushed over), spanking, milking, forced public masturbation, and hypnotic mind control. There is also a story which focuses upon cash slavery.
The book is impressive in that it is written with extremely descriptive, intelligent vocabulary. The eroticism is potent, to say the least. It appears that the author’s intent while writing these tales was to very pointedly offer his readers a “one-handed read”, and in this effort he has more than succeeded.
I have issues with the book, however, and these issues relate to both the literary presentation of the novel as well as the content of the sexual portrayals. From a literary standpoint it is one of the poorest edited pieces of work I have ever encountered. It was almost as if the author merely completed a rough draft and did not even bother to proofread it. Capitalization, punctuation, misplaced or repeated words, improper verb usage, improper pronouns, and spelling errors are a few of the grammatical blunders. There are also point-of-view problems, where the third person narratives jump back and forth to different points of view within a given scene.
In terms of the sexual content, I will admit that my opinions in this regard are heavily biased. As with all sexual or fetish content, the degree to which a particular practice is appealing is entirely subjective. I do often find humiliation scenes to be highly erotic if they are within the right context. A sub who understands that a little bit of humiliation is pleasing and/or erotic to his Master, can be very satisfied sexually and emotionally by participating in such scenes. If, however, the sub is forced into these scenes against his will and demoralized, it is pure sadism. Honestly I believe that the author intentionally portrayed this element of the story, and it almost seems as if he is proud of the fact that this sadistic cruelty is a sexual turn-on to him. Even though this book was fiction, the mere thought of this sort of barbarism was horrendously nauseating to me, and the depravity of it nearly made me weep.
Another aspect of the sex which I found unpalatable is that it heavily relied upon the emasculation and feminization of the submissive captives. One of these characters was forced to wear frilly, pink panties and then sodomized publicly. Different strokes for different folks, but I’ve got to say…I’m not one of them.
Also, I did not understand why there was so little oral sex in the book and so much forced anal. And I really also got the impression that the author was very fascinated with public masturbation. Again, this is not my cup of tea.
Overall, I was disappointed in this book, in spite of the fact that I had initially been extremely excited about reading it. The book has an absolutely amazing cover, one of the hottest pictures I have ever seen on the front of a book. The art work is so realistic that it almost appears to be a photograph rather than a painting.
In summary, the book is an intensely erotic and graphic series of hard-core stories which include some really hot bondage scenes. It is written with very intelligent, often grandiloquent vocabulary. It focuses upon themes which I personally find distasteful and offensive, and for this reason I cannot recommend the book. It also has severe editing issues. However, if you’re a reader who is attracted to intense humiliation and degradation, this book would be a perfect pick. ...more
