Sure, the behavior of the characters was a bit... unusual, but what would be the point of writing a play where everybody’s acting like everybody else? I think this is one of Miller’s better plays. These characters are alive, you understand them, you root for them. I especially liked Miller’s take on how psychological can become physical if you neglect it for too long....more
Zvláštna kniha. Veľmi ma bavili Austerlitzove "fun facts" o rôznych budovách a miestach, ktoré navštívil, pátranie po svojej minulosti, úvahy, a priloZvláštna kniha. Veľmi ma bavili Austerlitzove "fun facts" o rôznych budovách a miestach, ktoré navštívil, pátranie po svojej minulosti, úvahy, a priložené fotografie celému príbehu dodávali ešte viac atmosféry a vyvolávali dojem, že tento príbeh sa naozaj stal. Nebavil ma naopak začiatok knihy, kde Austerlitz popisuje svoje detstvo u náhradných rodičov a kvôli niekedy až smiešne dlhým vetám bolo celkom ťažké udržať pozornosť....more

When we learned about this book in highschool I was positive this is something I will never read voluntarily. Okay, it wasn't voluntary, but I kinda lWhen we learned about this book in highschool I was positive this is something I will never read voluntarily. Okay, it wasn't voluntary, but I kinda liked it? Some passages were beautiful and some I found funny, although I'm not sure if they're supposed to be funny. So maybe I'll change my rating after a discussion in class since I don't know if I understood much of this but here's a nice quote:
ESTRAGON: I remember the maps of the Holy Land. Coloured they were. Very pretty. The Dead Sea was pale blue. The very look of it made me thirsty.
