I enjoyed most the book. It was smart and entertaining. Also, I sort of like the office drama part (is this slightly embarrassing? is it the kind of thing that should be filed under “guilty pleasure?”)
I didn’t dig the final, genre-defying plot twist that much - but I can see how it can work for other readers. I also felt that there were too many threads that were left loose so the ending was not as satisfying for me as the first half.
I can see how this could make a great TV show though. Apparently, there is already a deal with Hulu, and I’m not surprised. It would be fun to see on screen so many of the characters: Nella’s opinionated BFF Malaika, enigmatic and ambitious Hazel, famous 1989s black editor Kendra Ray, and powerful publishing mogul Richard Wagner. The topic is as timely as ever. There is just enough of suspense. New York in the background. Sign me up....more

И текст такой плотный, что его хватает надолго (я читала недели три, it’s a bliss and a blessing).
