It was really interesting, and surprisingly funny. Both of the narrators did an amazing job, but the one that was doing the "narrator" or author's voice put so much effort into it, that it felt like Therese Oneill was telling me all this herself.
I enjoyed learning about all of these women, some familiar to me, some not, and in such a creative way too. I wish the book was longer so even more lesser known women could be covered. It was also very diverse which is always a plus.
Also, I had no idea this was the same author who wrote this and her other books, I'll absolutely be reading them now....more

It has everything I love, a cozy small town setting, hilarious characters, a mystery and VAMPIRES!!! Vampires make everything better, lemme tell you.
I highly recommend the audiobook because the narrator is brilliant and perfectly brought all the characters to life, giving them all a unique voice. It was such an amazing experience listening to this, and I'd do it again!!
The plot was giving Supernatural, with the whole "saving people, hunting things (strigoi), the family business", except the Evans women don't have to leave their backyard to do it!
I was surprised at which characters died, some were actually really important, but the author wasn't shy about doing away with them. It hurts a little, not gonna lie. So when you start this, be warned, no one is safe.
The ending was so good and made me so excited for the next book...which isn't coming for another year. Do you think I can wait that long??? Huh, do you???
While looking for the author's newsletter, I found out that THIS BOOK/SERIES IS GETTING TURNED INTO A TV SHOW AAAAAH!!!!!! Which is honestly just perfect because I can imagine it like a mix of True Blood & Supernatural, but still with its own twist.
I cannot wait for both the next instalment and the TV show, I know both will be bangers....more

Now THIS was a proper Halloween read. You got a witch casting a spell summoning a pumpkin-headed demon who's been obsessed with her for two years and is ready to finally take what's his, and some humour thrown in too.
Some of the things that got me, other than the fact that he tastes like pumpkin spice syrup, were the 4 balls (why 4? More cum!! That is a legit line I'm screaminggggg), the pumpkin lube and the bottling of Jack's...juices.
I'm looking forward to Layla Fae's other Halloween books now, I'm sure they'll be very educational mhm....more

I liked it, the audiobook was great as always, I laughed a lot as expected, but overall it wasn't better than book two, it's about the same. At first it seemed like it would hit book one level awesomeness, but it didn't. That's okay though. I'm a bit sad that this is the last book, but at the same time it's probably better not to drag this out too much....more

I don't think they're super connected so it was probably okay to read them out of order.
It was sooo addicting, which I'm already used to with this author, but I really couldn't stop listening, except to make some progress with another book for a bit, then I came back to finish this.
I figured I'd get to 50% today, but the book said "YOU MUST FINISH", so obviously I had to listen to it!! I loved it from the start, it was funny and relatable, Kiki was a great character and so were her friends.
Reading from the PoV of a girl gamer when you are one yourself made me sympathise with Kiki, because I too had my fair share of men acting like I don't belong in "their space". That issue was tackled really well in the book.
I could feel her anxiety and pain at not being able to tell her online-turned-IRL friend who she was, how it was eating her up inside....AHHHH. Poor Kiki.
The only thing I wish we got is more time with them as a couple when everything was revealed. Because they literally just got together and then BAM, the book is over. It felt a little anticlimactic, because their relationship was building from the start and we only get that...so maybe two epilogues instead of one would've been good?
Either way I had so much fun, and I will be going back and reading the first book.

Sutanto's best book, I loved it so much. It was hilarious, the characters were all interesting (especially Vera), the narration was perfect, the storyline actually mysterious, the food mentions mouthwatering...what's not to love?
I didn't know that I needed an old lady solving a murder in my life, but I really did. And so do you my friends!! This whole book is so creative, and even emotional at times, at least for me.
For example, there's a scene where Vera and the gang go to the murdered man's family to bring them food, check up on them, and so that Vera can investigate further. But it made me tear up, because when my dad died when I was a kid, nobody did that for us, not even other family members, let alone completely strangers.
So it was heartwarming to see that good people who care about others exist somewhere out there, even if it's just inside a book.
Anywayyyy, I need a Vera in my life, because my life will no longer be complete without one!!! I need that machine that makes fictional characters real to be invented ASAP!!!! I'll be going back to this book for sure, and I highly recommend the audio version. ...more

I had such a good time listeningHave you ever wanted to go to Roswell and get abducted by aliens? If your answer is yes then this is the book for you.
I had such a good time listening to this, it was hilarious and I loved all the characters, especially Indy. He's like a tumbleweed alien with tentacles and he keeps abducting people he comes across because he just wants to go somewhere but can't communicate where, so they're all forced to go on a road trip together.
At first I wasn't Francie's biggest fan, with the way she was immediately dismissive of people who believe in UFOs, but when Indy abducted her she got more likeable.
I also love her and Wade together, even though we only got some crumbs of their romance thrown in. But they were cute.
The only off thing about this is that the ending comes out of nowhere, in the middle of a conversation. The audiobook ended and I was like "huh???", but apparently that IS the end. So I'm hoping we'll get a sequel, because otherwise that's a really strange place to end it, it's not even an open ending, just...odd.
BUT YES IF YOU WANT CUTE AND FUNNY ALIENS READ THIS BOOK....more

The title of it made me laugh, I shared it to Twitter and a friend from there convinced me to read it and here we are.
I expected a joke book, because of the title. Like one of those Chuck Tingle books for example. BUT THIS WAS NOT THAT. NOT AT ALL.
Was it funny? Yes. Was it drama filled? Also yes. But aside from all that it has characters that you care about, characters who grow and learn from their mistakes.
And it's also surprisingly well written for what I was expecting. The authors know how to keep the flow of the story going, and the reader engaged.
I was rooting for Special throughout the book. She had a hard life and had to fight for her place in the world. And why wouldn't she get paid for her struggles?
And yes, she did technically steal Damon's sperm from a used condom, BUT IF HE HADN'T BEEN CHEATING ON HIS WIFE NONE OF THAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED!
There's a religious angle to it all, Damon is a Christian who can't help himself, until he really messes up big time, and realises its time to change for good. I personally never forgave him for cheating on the sweetest character ever, but I can appreciate his effort to do better.
I'll end this review with a nugget of wisdom, courtesy of Special:
Special felt that it was a pussy universe, and dick got in where it fit in....more

I'm glad this book popped up on my Twitter feed a couple of days before the come out date because it's so funny and cute.
There's no villains and there's girl power all around. I really really love the friendship the girls formed and how they're all equally interesting.
Simone's mother is actually my favourite character. She's the funniest and reminds me of Balkan mothers in a way? Maybe that's why. I love her and her sound effects.

I 100% was not expecting everything that happened here but I love it???
So the beginning was a little weird, because why in Heaven's name would you tell your own brother that you plan to "get your box stuffed"? And most of the first part reads like a parody of...well books that are like that. I don't think that was the intention here which only makes it funnier.
I kept laughing for most of the story and let me tell you, that's not easy to do. Some of the lines are pure gold. This is one of very few novellas that I will reread again and again.
A bit past the halfway mark we get a rapid change of pace, so many things are happening and it's getting really exciting.
I feel that sometimes when authors write novellas they don't know how to cram everything into it that they planned so the pacing can be weird or the book can feel empty, but here?
Everything is SO FAST, but it works. I have no idea how, I just know it suits me and I don't mind the scenes are changing in the blink of an eye.
If we ignore the steam (let's be real, that made me laugh the hardest), the rest of the story is really promising so far. I'm definitely going to check the series out when I have time (and probably read this again meanwhile to see if I missed any details)....more

The only thing that didn't work for me fully was the romance, I wasn't overly fond of the past chapters because of it, but everything else made up for it.

She wears glamorous makeup and dresses, watches Old Hollywood movies and is completely unconcerned by the fact that other girls are just jealous of her obvious beauty.
WRONG.
Verona is a fifteen year old girl whose childish fantasies have real world consequences.
Her entries start off simple enough, describing "only the most important" moments of her life, but it's when she meets HIM (the handsome garbage man) that the real action starts.
She'll do anything to get his attention, and when she finally does she'll do anything to keep it. She will have her happy ending by any means necessary.
I breezed through this book and let me tell you now, I love it. I wish it was longer. Dearest Verona, couldn't you have spared your precious time to grace us with a few more entries?
I knew from the way I laughed at the blurb that I'd laugh throughout the book, and I did, it was so funny. I feel kinda bad for saying it now but it's the truth. I needed this.
As delusional as she was, Verona stilll had good taste in movie stars and I couldn't be mad at her (too much).
I feel bad for Howie, poor boy just got used and didn't even know it.
RICK. I imagined Rick Springfield (in Z-Cavariccis??? my mind) which made the whole thing even better. He's not all sunshine and rainbows either. In some twisted way I do wish it could've worked out years later. Maybe it did, WE DON'T KNOW.
Verona's parents tried. Kinda, sorta, not really. I can see how she ended up the way she did. Always room for improvement though. Then again if the ending is what it might be...I hope she's happy now.

Derry and Cal are stoner metalheads who dabble in the dark arts without much success. Enter Natalie, someone who's actually summoned demons before and knows what she's doing. The boys befriend her and eventually get to a point where they're willing to sell their souls for their music goals and they need a sacrifice to do it.
I don't know what I can say that will accurately represent how fun this was to read (except the almost dog scene, nearly shed a tear there). The author knows how to pull the reader in and, if you have time, you should definitely read it in one go for the full experience.
As the book went on I was so convinced the kids were going to pull it off but oh boy, the entire ending was just one surprise after another. And the very end? NO I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT BUT I LOVE IT. I SEE IT. IT'S SO CLEAR.
I am not going to spoil anything else so do yourself and favour and go read this now if you're into stupid kids messing with things they shouldn't be messing with.
P.S. This should be a movie.

The main character Snake is The action never stops in this stunning debut! Right from the very beginning it's clear the reader is in for a wild ride.
The main character Snake is held at gunpoint and forced to fly a ship (and he isn't a pilot, that would be his boss) by someone who snuck aboard and just decided that yes, today was a good day to steal a ship.
Managing to outsmart the criminal, Snake and his boss head to a bar to look for some work. Their ship is an old rustbucket and there's always things to fix, but it's hard when you're constantly broke. So when they take up a well paying, albeit dangerous, job things seem to be looking up.
Their employer Carla had her reasons for choosing them for the job and neither Snake nor his boss are very happy about it.
But how does the job go? Does the ship get damaged beyond repair or is there a light at the end of a tunnel? Can our boys ever catch a break? Read to find out.
I had the time of my life reading this book, I swear. It was lighthearted and funny, the kind of book that can get you out of a funk.
I got reminded of Firefly while reading it and I love Firefly.
Carla isn't exactly my favourite but she's alright. Snake and his boss are the real gems, they're great together. And the rustbucket is an endearing oldie but a goodie.
I can't wait to read more of this series.
