Once again Moriarty weaves a mystery through the everyday ordinary lives of everyday ordinary suburban Australians with such skill that it keeps the reader/listener guessing at just how she is going to wrap it all together in the end.

Martin & Mandy are pulled back into life in Sydney as once again the past comes back to haunt them. This time it's Mandy who has secrets to reveal. Trent Dalton has done it again. He has an incredible ability to capture the dark, ugly, violent side of modern Australian life in such a way that allows it to shine light on the love, beauty and light of it at the same time.
A moving tale of a girl with no name navigating life, love, friendship and the danger of the Tyrannosaurus Waltz through her art and ability to ask the big questions - Who are you? Who am I? Her lack of name has also inspired an interest in the meanings of names and the power this has in a person's life and personality. This becomes a fascinating feature scattered throughout the narrative and is sure to have readers looking up the meaning of their own name and of those they love....more

Works of art that take the blood, sweat and tears of hundreds of people over years of creating before making it to our screens.
Hanks takes the reader (or in my case listener) on the journey from inspiration, seeds of character and plot, discovery, casting, filming and post production. Along the way we gain insights into both the dramatic and the hum-drum moments experienced by the vast array of people involved in this industry.
Hanks knowledge, experience and love of the industry are obvious through the attention to detail and the fully rounded characters we meet along the way. Everyone from the famous director and lead actors, to extras, to hair and make up artists, to transport drivers leap off the page as real and respected people....more

I couldn't agree more. I could listen to any plot big or small, if it is narrated by and involves Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim, and their motley crew of friends.
The crimes in this addition to the series revolve around the drug trade, antique scams and romance fraud. We meet new, complex characters along the way and delve deeper into the mind of the dear friends we already know from previous novels.
Being the fourth book in the series allows Osman to build on relationships and previously dropped breadcrumbs. The most impactful of these is Stephen's journey. It's hard to say much more without giving away spoilers but it was wonderful to hear his voice shine through and see the world through his eyes.
It almost feels like this could be the final book in the series and if this is the case, it is a satisfying ending. If not, I'd be more than happy to read more adventures from these unlikely sleuths and friends....more

An incredibly moving and confronting tale of the modern day experiences of young girls and women in Nigeria - which are sadly repeated in other parts of the world as well. A must read for anyone in doubt that child marriages or the slave trade still exist in the 21st century.
Abi Daré breathes life into her all of characters, making them truly 3 dimensional. Aduni's struggle to understand the world around her and her determination to prove the powerful people around her wrong when they dismiss girls as useless and unimportant grips the reader (or listener) from the very first chapter.
As for the audio version. the narrator is superb. So emotive, capturing the sadness, excitement, anger, frustration and hope of Aduni and those she meets on her journey to finding her Louding Voice.
Can't recommend it highly enough but be ready to be challenged - especially if you live a privileged white western life.
