First of all, this book reads like a tv series which is uh, amazing? The style keeps you engaged with the story, which is very fast-paced and action-filled - just an heads-up for whoever's looking for characters driven stories, really. Not to say, however, that characters are not well developed. Au contraire, we get a backstory and motivations for both of our protagonists, without having to sit trough exposition. We also get notions about the world in this "show, don't tell" way, which feels natural and doesn't slow the plot down at all. I could do without the inkling of romance (which is minimal, really), but that's just me. Hope to see more things set in this universe!

This book warmed my heart. I adore retellings of old fairytails, even better when they're queer. I didn't read the original one, but in this final draft the author got rid of the problems that were pointed out by a reviewer, or at least it seems like it to me; however, I am not transgender, so please refer to someone else on this matter, if you wish to have a more nuanced opinion. I found the ending a bit in your face, but that is true for most of fairytails....more

Engaging and cynically funny, this is really just the story of some dead dudes. Of the main trio, I adored Brian, but Shannon really shines too. Please, just fire that poor woman. It got a bit messy in the middle, but the ending really did it for me. A good take on ghost-hunting shows....more

Olive lives between our world, in which she's regarded as "xs", extra strange, and an internal, much vivider one, in which she has total control of her surroundings. Or has she? When an element of disturbance is thrown in both of her worlds, Olive has nothing left to do than adapt to her new circumnstances. I don't have much to say about this volume, the story has just begun; I found the comic engaging and really well drawn. I'm curious to see how the author will resolve the mystery that's starting to unfold....more

TWs: drug abuse, death, fatphobia
One of those days is a bit of an odd one. It doesn't got a real plot, we just follow a trio of "almost" fourteen years old on what they think it's the(ir) last day on earth. I liked the naivete of the characters, it made me laugh. I really liked the art style too. The "moral" is a bit overdone by this point, but I don't really like to criticize autobiographical works for this kind of things....more

A gorgeous exploration of what lies beyond death - and the ones that accompany us on the final journey. The art style is colorful and dynamic, it really challenges your sense of what is reality and what isn't; it couples well with the story, confusing but mesmerizing. Confusing and mesmerizing is also Karmen, the main character of our story: quirky, bubbly and, above all, mysterious; we don't know what her true intentions are, but we're still drawn to her, to her love of humanity. That willingness to give people a chance is central to the plot: can we really understand people at a glance, or are we more complex than that? But most importantly, can we better ourselves if given the tools (and the chance)? All of these questions may find their answers in the next volumes. Or maybe not. We could ask Karmen, but I doubt she'll give us a straight answer....more

A little guide containing all the dos and don'ts of they/them. The writing style is fun and engaging, while still being very informative; the doodles and pictures really complete the experience. It may not contain new information if you're someone involved in the LGBT+ community, but it's a really helpful tool for people who are just now dipping their toes into this topic....more

The relationship between a werewolf and a vampire told in a fun and engaging way. I quite liked this graphic novel because i'm kinda over the whole angsty romances about supernatural creatures; the characters in this get each other: they may not be the same, but they do have similarities - hence the title, Fangs. Some vignettes may not be the most original, but I feel this is a refreshing take on some tropes used in paranormal romances. The art-style and character designs are also very cute....more
