This book was the best combination of challenging and encouraging. I would highly suggest it to anyone (religious or not), who might be feeling a little hopeless after how crazy the last 5ish years have been.
Carlos has found a way to offer a hopeful perspective both humorously and humbly - something I had no idea I needed this badly.

I'm a big fan of Hugh Howey - not only as a writer, but as a thinker and just...as a human.
This little book, Hugh's first attempt at nonfiction, was a really encouraging and enlightening read all about what drives us as human beings, and how it is never too late to move towards a more fulfilling life.
Hugh is very open and honest about his own failings, and approaches this subject with humility and empathy.
I would encourage anyone to give this a try!...more

On the plus side, I found this story fairly unpredictable and I thought Tchaikovsky did an excellent job creating Charles' 'voice' - he really felt like a robot. An alien mind, if you will.
On the down side, the pacing was a bit slow at times (I think this could have been a novella rather than a full novel - it got a little repetitive), and as accurate as Charles' mindset probably was, it also could get pretty annoying as he continually struggled to figure out what was going on, even when it was obvious to the reader.
Overall, I'm glad I read this - Tchaikovsky's imagination and creativity are unparalleled, and this is a great book for readers who love the concepts examined - robotics, AI, dystopias, free will, late-stage capitalism, etc.
That said, it was not my personal favorite of his, for the reasons I gave. Good, but not great....more
