El duque de Wyndham es el primer libro de una bilogía, que a diferencia de otras series escritas por Julia Quinn, pueden leerse en cualquier orden, ¿la razón? Ambas novelas suceden al mismo tiempo.
La novela sigue la historia de Grace, una chica que tiene el peor trabajo del mundo: ser la acompañante de la duquesa de Wyndham. Grace es bonita, humilde, de buen corazón y amistosa con las personas. A pesar de que la duquesa la tiene de un lado para otro, la trata mal y siempre le recuerda su posición social, para Grace, el tener un trabajo y ayudar es una buena recompensa.
Cuando el misterioso Jack, un ex capitán del ejército, que además de guapo y fornido, intenta robarles mientras regresan a casa, todo dará un giro para Grace y para el mismo Jack, luego de que la duquesa asegurara fervientemente que él es en realidad su nieto y heredero.
Dudoso y reacio a creerle, Jack se niega y a la duquesa no le queda de otra que raptarlo junto a Grace hasta encontrar las pruebas que indiquen que todo es verdad. Como no podríamos esperar, en el transcurso de los días, una relación entre los protagonistas irá surgiendo.
Grace comienza a sentir cosas por Jack, pero sabe que debe mantenerse a la raya pues, en caso de que en verdad sea el verdadero duque de Wyndham, su relación no podría existir, pues ella es una simple plebeya.
Thomas, el actual heredero, es la única persona que podría ayudarlos a esclarecer la verdad, la cuestión es si lo hará por las buenas o buscará un beneficio propio, pues toda su vida creyó que él era el heredero, hasta que llegó Jack a arrebatarle su lugar.
El duque de Wyndham es una historia que me ha gustado de principio a fin. Los personajes han sido bien construidos y lograron agradarme cada uno de ellos. Grace me recordó a personajes de otras novelas como Jane Eyre o Agnes Grey. La duquesa, la verdad es que cumple muy bien su papel de “antagonista”, pues a cada escena era tremendo el desagrado que sentía hacia ella.
Jack y Thomas me cayeron muy bien. Otro personaje clave es la amiga de Grace, Amelia, quien igualmente me cautivó; la vemos poco, pero el segundo libro trata sobre ella, así que lo importante aquí fue presentarla.
La historia, si bien es simple, es rápida de leer, tiene momentos divertidos, tristes y venturosos. Mi única preocupación fue el destino de los protagonistas, pero les prometo, es gratificante llegar hasta la última página....more

A Olivia la conocemos en el primer libro de la serie Bevelstoke: ella es la mejor amiga de Miranda Cheever, la ahora esposa de su hermano mayor, Nigel Bevelstoke. Por su parte, sir Harry prefiere el aislamiento y la calma de su casa, donde trabaja traduciendo documentos para el Departamento de Defensa; es por ello que casi nunca es visto rodeado de la alta sociedad.
Lo que inicia como una historia de vecinos que se rechazan el uno al otro, pronto se convierte en una novela de dos personas que están destinadas a estar juntos.
Secretos en Londres difiere de otras novelas de la autora al presentarnos a una protagonista un tanto alejada del cliché del género: ella es una ex debutante comprometida con un príncipe ruso, y él, un hombre justo, sin la tendencia a ser un libertino (como la mayoría dentro del repertorio de Julia Quinn).
Esta segunda parte de la trilogía, es un libro que logra superar ampliamente a su antecesor. La narrativa es digerible y sin tanto drama entre los personajes, lo que hace de la lectura algo más amena y divertida de leer....more

Cuando Miranda era una chiquilla de 10 años, tiene un enamoramiento infantil hacia Nigel Bevelstoke, hermano de su mejor amiga, Olivia, a quienes ve como hermanos. Desde ese momento, Miranda decide que amará a Nigel (Turner) toda su vida, ya que él ha sido de las pocas personas que la han tratado con amabilidad, asegurándole que ella era muy bonita.
