But what if… you want more… Justin loves his Living the good life; married to the girl of your dreams, having a great friend, job, house, everything. But what if… you want more… Justin loves his wife Julia, but the feelings for his friend Remi are changing into something different. Bound tells the first part of Justin, Julia and Remi’s story, it has been an ‘intense read’.
Justin, Julia and Remi come from very different families, but what they have in common is coming from money. This gives them the opportunity to do what they want. Well, for the most. Justin and Julia are happily married and spending their days doing what they love. Remi on the other hand is pressured into following into his father’s footsteps. He doesn’t want it, but he feels he has to. The three of them spend a lot of time together, and suddenly lust (and love) changes the dynamic.
Julia and Justin have great chemistry and are very much in love, but something feels missing. And that something is somebody: their best friend Remi. Remi has the same feelings for his friends, but he’s a little more hesitant. A relationship between two people is what society considers normal, but that’s not what works for these three. They have to learn how to be together, trusting each other in a different role. And that’s not easy.
I know this author for her sweet stories. And boy, this is something different. If you’re not into MMF stories, stay away! Justin, Julia and Remi are hot together, they know what they want and are not afraid to experiment. Bound is a (very) sexy story about three friends who want to be together in every way. It’s also the first part of the ‘Then There Were Three trilogy’, I can’t wait for the other two parts....more

A lot happens throughout your life, and your siblings see most of it. The Lemon Sisters tells the story of total opposites Brooke and Mindy. At times it was very serious story, but it also made me giggle and swoon.
Brooke and Mindy are sisters, but they can’t be more different. Brooke is doesn’t do commitment and stays clear from close relationships, Mindy is married to love-of-her-life and mom of three kids. When disaster strikes in Mindy’s life (or so she thinks), she turns to Brooke for help, and suddenly Brooke finds herself in the one place she avoids at all costs; Wildstone. Add Brooke’s old love Garrett and Mindy’s hubby Linc to the mix, and you get a whole interesting story…
Brooke seems like the cool chick who has it all figured out, but not all is what it seems. She had her reasons to run away from Garrett and Wildstone, and I so wish she told everybody everything so much sooner. Nobody can go through something like that alone. You need your loved ones around you. Mindy is a bit different story, and she reminds me of myself. Busy mom, doing her very best and sometimes forgetting herself a bit. And an over vivid imagination isn’t helping as well…
The Lemon Sisters is about Brooke and Mindy, but also about Linc and Garrett. Mindy, Linc and Garrett have their POV, but most of the story is told through the eyes of Brooke. The story of Garrett and Brooke is serious with some sad moments, the storyline of Mindy and her Linc is much more fun. Yes, it’s also touching, but its much lighter. And their kids do their best to make it fun. I love the book, and the two totally different storylines; one heavy with sorrow and regrets, the other one very familiar to a lot of moms out there.

And given how Even Money ended, you know this book won’t be an easy ride. But for Dario and Bell, it’s a fitting story; it fits with the dangerous world Dario lives in. I’ve enjoyed this roller-coaster read very much.
“I wasn’t wrong. I was in a horrible mess with a man I couldn’t seem to connect with, but I loved him. And he, somewhere among that cold indifference, loved me. I had to believe that.”
The events from the previous book have left Bell and Dario in an unsure place. Yes, they have feelings for each other, but they can’t be open about it. They even have to spend some time apart, which makes Bell question her relationship with Dario, and what everything means. Dario however is sure about Bell, but he needs to deal with the very messy situation first, whatever it takes.
“So beautiful. So strong. His. He would learn. He’d learn to love her without restraint, without the fear of evil lurking, without the many facades and lies. She was his future.”
Bell is in over her head. Yes, Dario is the man of her dreams, but his background and not-so-legal dealings are not her thing. Her feelings for him however don’t change, so she accepts all of him. Dario is a rough spot. He wants to do the right thing, but he also wants to get to know more of Bell and simply be with her. I love this complicated couple.
Double Down is the second part of the ‘All In Duet’, and it’s one action-filled story with a lot of twists and turns. Most of the book is told through the eyes of Bell and Dario, but also some of the other characters get their say. This gives a bigger glimpse into Dario’s dark world, and all you want for him is to succeed even more. Double Down is the perfect conclusion to Bell and Dario’s story and I love the ending.
“Underneath my palm beat a heart that loved more fiercely than I thought possible. A heart that protected those he loved and spoiled me with every beat and chance.”

My paperback is almost falling apart and the DVD’s from the BBC series are slightly damaged. When E.S. Carter announced she was going to write a modern version of my beloved book I was very curious. The Bachelors turns out to be a very entertaining book; full of great characters, crazy antics and love.
“She pulled back and looked at him through heavy eyelids. “Now you owe me a drink.” “And then?” “Then you can show me how you worship a queen.”
The Austen brothers – Darcy, Bingham and Wick – are hardworking guys, but their family business is only months away from bankruptcy. It’s not because they don’t try hard enough, but people buy less books nowadays and their mother just can’t stop spending money. The opportunist one of the brothers, Wick, comes up with the plan to seduce the Bennett sisters. One of them, all of them, he doesn’t care, as long as the family bookstores are rescued. Eliza, Jane and Lydia don’t make it easy for the men, but they do find themselves attracted to the brothers.
“I want you. I want us to work together and build something stronger than love.” “Stronger than love? And what, pray tell, do you think I want more than that?” “Power.”
The Bachelors isn’t like any other book by E.S. Carter. While you see her writing style throughout the story, the third-person POV makes it a bit different. You don’t see the actual thoughts of the characters, but given the number of people it couldn’t have been written in different way without getting too much. Because of the number of POV’s a lot is left to the reader’s own imagination, and I love it for a change.
I love The Bachelors. As a huge fan of Pride & Prejudice I adore all the references and similarities to the original book. My favorite couple should be Darcy and Eliza, but the crazy antics of Wick and Lydia make me laugh out loud. They’re inappropriate, scheming and in your face, but I just love these trouble-kids. Darcy and Eliza, and Bing and Jane are great couples too in their own way, but they’re far more normal then the youngest pair.
“He knew her. His heart knew her. His body craved her, and his mind called for her. He didn’t have it bad. He had it good.”
I adore The Bachelors, I give the story of the Austen brothers and the Bennett sisters 5 stars.

Still with sexy times and I know Sawyer Bennett mostly for her sexy stories, the Wicked books. As Juliette Poe however, she writes different stories. Still with sexy times and lots of chemistry, but far less naughty and no sex club in sight. Barking Up The Wrong Tree tells the story of Laken and Jake, small-town-girl and city-boy. I love their story, and I want my own MG (pretty sure hubby says no).
“You’re a city boy. I’m a country girl. You live in Chicago, and I live in a town you’ll forget by tomorrow.”
After her last relation ended in disaster, Laken is living and working contently in Whynot as the small town’s only veterinarian. With her work and more importantly her family close by, Laken has all she needs. Recently divorced Jake is a hardworking man with his own company, and a somewhat neglected farm in Whynot is his latest acquisition. When they meet, Laken and Jake are instantly attracted to each other, but both are a wee bit stubborn and set in their ways. Luckily, with some friendly meddling they find out they can’t live without each other.
“I pull away from her. She purrs in appreciation when I rub my nose against hers. As I look down at her, she opens her eyes slowly with a smile on her face. “You are such a sweet kisser,” Laken says almost dreamily. “Not like sweet as candy, but sweet as in ‘the bomb’.”
Barking Up The Wrong Tree is the third book in the ‘Sex and Sweet Tea Series’ and tells the story of one of the Mancinkus siblings. Most of the story is told from Laken and Jake’s POV, but also Laken’s dog Herman and her grandfather get their say. It’s a sweet, friendly, funny story about two opposite people falling for each other. But in the end, they might be not that different after all.
I love Barking Up The Wrong Tree. I expected a fun, sweet story and the book totally delivered. Although there are some serious parts, most of the time I had a big smile on my face. Laken and Jake are great together, and not just in the bedroom. It was fun to see city-boy Jake getting used to farmer-life, and his relationship with Miss Goatikins the baby goat is the cutest. (Note to self: do NOT mention baby goats to the kids, and especially don’t show them pics. It can only end in a hilarious disaster… )
“I just know. This is where my life is supposed to be. Pulling Laken in close, I ask her, “So you admit you love me?” “It’s not a hardship to do so,” she returns impishly. “You’re moderately handsome and successful and Herman seems to like you.”
I love this sweet story, I give Barking Up The Wrong Tree 4 stars.

I know Stylo Fantôme for her wild stories, kick-assIt’s been a few days since I’ve finished Muscle Memory, and I can’t stop thinking about the story. I know Stylo Fantôme for her wild stories, kick-ass heroines (with a little lack of self-preservation) and flawed heroes, but Muscle Memory is something else. It’s beautiful, romantic and full of feelings, I simply love this heartbreaking story.
“Her heart was breaking for a man who didn’t exist anymore. For a love that should have lasted forever.”
Have you ever wondered how it would be to wake up one morning, not knowing who you are, not knowing anything of your past? That’s what happens to Jon; he wakes up in the hospital without any memory of his life until then. Without any clue to who he is, he starts a new life, helped by social workers and Kitty, a volunteer at the half way house. Slowly Jon starts to fall for the beautiful, rich Kitty and he settles into his new life with her. A chance meeting with Delaney however, changes everything. It turns out she knows all about his past, and while he can’t remember her, Jon just knows she’s important to him.
“How do I know you?” he whispered, palming her ass cheek. “How do I know this?” “Because … some things are forever,” she whispered back.”
As I already said, I know Stylo Fantôme for very different stories then Muscle Memory. Muscle Memory is far less ‘in-your-face’, but it still holds your attention at every turn. The story has multiple POV’s, but most is told through Jon’s eyes. We see his life as Jay before the accident that causes his memory loss, and his life afterwards as Jon. They are very different men, but both know there’s only one woman for them.
I’m not sure how to describe my feelings for this story and its characters. I love Jay and Delaney and the love they shared, but they were the poster-children of dysfunctional. Ending in disaster was the only possible outcome, and it did in a way. I love Jon/Jay. I know some of his actions are questionable at best, but I so get them. He wants to know about his past, and he can’t deny the deep-seated feelings he has for Delaney. Delaney, poor sweet girl. My heart broke a few times for her. Yes, she has made mistakes in the past, but she shouldn’t be punished like this. I love the ending of the story, it’s perfect.
“Never, ever,” she repeated, her lips trembling beneath his own. “My brain forgot,” he said. “And my heart wasn’t sure. But my soul … how could I ever forget it belongs to you?”
I adore Muscle Memory, plain and simple. I give this story 5+ stars.
It started with American Queen, continued with American Prince and ends with American King. Ash was always an enigma, but now the reader finally gets It started with American Queen, continued with American Prince and ends with American King. Ash was always an enigma, but now the reader finally gets his story in the conclusion of the ‘New Camelot Trilogy’. And what a ride it has been; love, intrigues, politics, spiteful enemies, everything. I love Ash and all his complexities.
“And then came Embry Moore. And then came Greer Galloway. How does a man end up loving two people, you ask? This is how.”
Maxen ‘Ash’ Colchester is the President of United States; he’s a former soldier, a war hero who quickly rose to power in Washington. From the outside in he’s living a normal life with his new bride Greer after he so sadly lost his first wife. But behind the façade is the life of a man who struggled growing up with his preferences and desires, and who still can’t show the world who he loves. You can say what you want about Ash; that he’s hard, demanding and taking what he wants, but underneath it all there’s a deep love, for both Embry and Greer.
After the ending of the last book, Embry is in a bad place. Having to choose between love and duty have hurt him deeply, but I get his decision. Being gone from Ash and Greer’s life doesn’t mean his love has gone too, it’s one of the things that keeps him going. Greer is hurt: yes, she has Ash but the other, equal important, part of her life is missing. The feelings all three have for each other are deep and real, but their Happily Ever After seems miles away.
“I see all the ways we were the first time, all the ways we are now, and the shimmering silver threads that sew us together, twines of fate that restrain and chafe and anchor every heart to the other. I see the beginning. And I see the end.”
American King is the third and final book in the ‘New Camelot Trilogy’, and takes the reader back to the world of politics, secretive advisors, lust and love. In the two previous books Ash remained a bit of a mystery, but now he takes the main stage. Like the other books, this installment tells the story in both the past and the present; it pictures the man Ash is today, but also the boy and young man he once was. There are also POV’s from Embry and Greer, which brings the whole story full circle.
From the moment I met Ash in American Queen, I thought he was a dominating and calculating man who take what he wanted, and who he wanted. But there’s so much more to him than meets the eye. He’s a religious man who struggles with his feelings, with his sense of honor and justice. The one thing he doesn’t struggle with is his love for Greer and Embry, and he gives it his everything to balance the scales between the three of them. I didn’t expect to love Ash, but I do.
“I will find them again and I will love them again. And if I have to, I will die for them again.”
I love American King, plain and simple, I give it 5 stars.

Like the previous book Vines, Paths has a lighter tone then her Carpino books, but that doesn’t mean our Hero and Heroine won’t have to work for their Happily Ever After. I’ve enjoyed the story of Maya and Grady.
“There’s pain hidden there, because I recognize it. I’ve seen it in the mirror for a while. Only recently have I noticed it fading in my own eyes—but still, it’s there.”
When Maya finally has enough, of her life and especially certain people in it, she leaves to keep herself safe. Not getting attached to people and places is her mantra, but resisting the small ‘in-the-middle-of-nowhere’, Virginia is hard. The people are friendly and welcoming, and Maya decides to stay around for a while. She can even put her study a bit to use at a nearby home for the elderly, and works part time at Addy’s vineyard (Addy is the leading lady of Vines). But although she likes her life now, Maya is sure she can’t be in a relationship, knowing her past is still looking for her. Handsome, grumpy Grady makes her want to forget the past and to start hoping for a future…
“Shit. I’ve never been alone with him. When I turn around, there he is, looking at me with his perfectly-beautiful, anguished blue eyes. I swallow and do the one thing my mother instilled in me more than anything else—be composed.”
Grady has every reason to be ‘grumpy’. He’s dealing with the painful aftermath of an assignment gone wrong. Combined with the demons of his past he’s not in a good place, at all. He tries to keep everybody away, but his friends won’t let him. Addy’s new employee Maya is a pretty woman, and although she annoys him with her healthy food and well-meant advice, she gets under his skin. Fast. When Maya’s past catches up with her, Grady knows he has to protect her, and keep her safe.
“I should be really fucking worried about my mental capacity that I’m watching her and don’t care. But I adjust the cameras and do what I do every day. I watch so I don’t think about anything else. Nothing but her.”
Maya and Grady don’t really like each other. Maya believes Grady is a cranky guy and Grady doesn’t like Maya sticks her nose into his personal life. Well, she knows what she’s talking about and her words make sense, but Grady doesn’t like it. At all. But spending time together starts to change the two of them. Soon they can’t fight the attraction between them and they hit it off… Grady senses Maya is not like the women he normally goes for, and he tries to hold back and take his time. I love them together!
As I already said, Paths has a light tone (hello my dear cows and other things), but what Grady and Maya went through in the past isn’t light at all. Grady comes from an abusive household where he was ‘responsible’ for his younger sisters, Maya has everything she wanted except a loving bond with her parents. Like other Heroes by this author, Grady is a bit of an Alpha guy who wants to protect the women in his life, but isn’t very good with words. His actions though speak for themselves. One minor detail about Paths; I didn’t like the POV from a certain villain. He sounded like a bad guy, but his own POV turned him into a spoiled brat who didn’t get his favorite toy. I prefer the bad guys to be really bad guys…
“You’ve got me. You standing right here in this empty house—you’re holding my heart, baby. It’s yours. I want our life to start and I want it to start here.” I point to the floor. “And I want it to start today.”

I love her couples, their different love stories and the friendships they have. All her books are interconnected; the characters show up in the other stories. In A Cranberry Inn Christmas, all the couples from the previous books come together for one last celebration in the beloved Inn.
“Her words broke my heart. I was absolutely crazy about my wife, and one of the things I loved most about her was the way she got overly excited about everything… like Christmas.”
Kacie is living her busy, happy life with Brody and her four girls. With Brody on the road so much she never has a dull moment, there is always something happening. This year Kacie wants the perfect Christmas, and spending it with all her loved ones. But then her mother drops a bomb; The Cranberry Inn is sold. It’s the place where Kacey has lived with her two eldest daughters before she met Brody. A place that holds so many great and beautiful memories. And for once, planner Kacie doesn’t know how she will overcome this devastating news.
“Life had been so crazy lately, between hockey and mom’s house and everything else, that I’d started to forget the simple things… like how amazing my sexy husband smelled, and how good his arms felt around me.”
Brody is still enjoying his hockey career. Not only is he a good player, but some of his teammates are close friends. Yes, he misses Kacie and the girls when he’s on the road, but he knows his Kacie has everything under control. When Kacie tells Brody about the sale of the Inn, he understands how hurt she is, but he doesn’t know how to ease her pain. Luckily his friend and teammate Viper comes up with the perfect plan. With the help of their friends Brody can save Kacie’s perfect Christmas.
“My heart pounded wildly inside my chest and my mind raced with possibilities and scenarios as to how I could actually pull this plan off. I wanted so badly to save Kacie’s perfect Christmas and, ironically, Viper’s idea might be just that… perfect.”
Having read ‘the Cranberry Inn series’, ‘the Viper’s heart series’ and Even the Score, it was so good to see everybody together for a special Christmas celebration. A Cranberry Inn Christmas feels a bit crowded because of all the different POV’s, but since I know all the couples from the previous books I didn’t mind. I love how everybody is together, one big group of friends and family, together for Christmas.
“I crashed my mouth against his. Never in my life had I needed to kiss him more than I did at that exact second. This man, this husband of mine, knew me better than I knew myself.”
I’ve enjoyed reading A Cranberry Inn Christmas and I can’t wait to start decorating for Christmas myself. I give this story 4 stars.

“My heart ached for the boss. He needed more in his life than a beaten up ole hound dog, but I was all he had.”
Dawn is working as a veterinarian in a small town and lives with her eight-year-old daughter Katie. The relationship with Katie’s father ended in a complete disaster, leaving Dawn a bit scared to start dating again. And besides that, she’s busy enough with her life as it is; Katie, her work and her friends take a lot of her time. The moment the new town recluse Alex comes into the clinic with his dog Stan, Dawn senses there is more to the silent man then she can see.
“I dreamed about him that night. Totally inappropriate dreams for a respectable single mother who rarely dated and whose eight year-old daughter was sleeping in the next room.”
Alex has it all; a good marriage, a successful company, everything. Until he hasn’t. Alex doesn’t handle the aftermath very well and just breaks down. After that, he leaves the city with just his beloved dog Stan to start a new, solitary life in a quiet town, away from everything. But aging Stan needs to see the town vet, and the vet turns out to be an attractive woman. Slowly, Alex warms up to her and her young daughter and starts to become human again.
“Dawn, I haven’t dated anyone in a long while.” I gazed at him skeptically. “Really? Why?” He looked away. “Coming here has been… a fresh s-start for me.” “You don’t like to talk about your past.” “Neither do you,”
Both Dawn and Alex are damaged by previous relationships. They both got burned badly, leaving them skittish to open their heart for love again. Dawn sees past the silence and rugged appearance of Alex, and treats him like a normal human while the other townspeople see him as a danger. Dawn and Alex dance around each other for a bit, but they can’t deny the attraction between them. The road to their Happily Ever After is a rocky one; secrets and misunderstandings create some angst-y moments.
One Careful Owner is written in the way I enjoy the author’s work for; realistic people in realistic situations. I understand Dawn’s hesitation to bring Alex into the life of her daughter, especially after she finds out his ‘secret activities’. It’s not just her life, she also has to think about Katie and what it will do to her. I love Dawn and Alex together; they are sweet and normal together, and Alex is a wee bit dirty in the bedroom. At the beginning of the book, Dawn’s sister Stella was a nasty piece of work. I love how she turned around, and that she and Dawn where able to be real sisters again. And Stan.. This is probably the first book I’ve read where an animal has his own POV, I liked his inner thoughts.
“I’ll love you harder than anyone else ever could. I’ll protect you and I’ll give you everything I have. I’ll be the man I need to be for you and for Katie.” “I know. Because I love you, too.”
I’ve enjoyed reading One Careful Owner, I give the story of Dawn and Alex 4.5 star.

I don’t mind reading a bit inexperienced story, authors need to learn to write, and I’m in awe for those who give it an honest try (I know I wouldn’t).
Based upon the blurb I expected a story with sorrow and angst, but all goes very nice and friendly. My biggest issue is the number of POV’s. For me personally it was too much, I wanted to know more about Harper and her difficult past, and more about her and Dakota.
A few months ago, I’ve read Neighbors by Stylo Fantôme and I loved it. As a good Stylo book it ended with huge twist, The Neighborhood ~ 4.5 stars
A few months ago, I’ve read Neighbors by Stylo Fantôme and I loved it. As a good Stylo book it ended with huge twist, leaving the reader with the annoying question: when will the next book come out? Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for The Neighborhood very long. The book starts right at point where the previous book left off, continuing the story of Katya, Liam and Wulf.
“Two men who had used her and chewed her up and then spit her out. And now both those men were her close neighbors. Jesus, this brings a whole new meaning to “there goes the neighborhood”.
Katya is hurt and angry. Very very angry. After she finds out the two men in her life actually know each other and even played a bit of a game with her she’s done. Katya wants to get over them; move on and not lose her new-found sexy confidence. But that’s easier said than done; Katya is confused about what she wants, who she wants to be, about everything. And besides that, Wulf and Liam don’t make it easy for her, the guys show up wherever she goes and don’t leave her alone.
“She may have been a sex kitten, but she wasn’t a raging bitch. Why couldn’t she be? Being Miss Good Girl hasn’t gotten me very far”
Wulf and Liam go on with their daily lives, but it’s different without Katya. Both guys miss her in a way, and both try to maneuver themselves back in Katya’s life. Wulf knows he has messed up; Katya doesn’t deserve what he did to her and he tries to make amends, going to great lengths. Liam makes attempts as well, but it’s not sure if it’s out of love. He’s still the playful sex club owner, he wants Katya, but he’s not sure in which way.
“We made promises to each other. I intend to keep them,” he whispered back. She glared up at him. “You never made any promises,” she hissed. “Not out loud,” he agreed. “But they were made. You felt them.”
Throughout the story, Katya is unsure and upset, and doesn’t know what to do with Wulf and Liam. It does take her some time to think things through and make a decision. Deep in her heart she knows who’s the right man for her, she just has to admit it to herself and let go of her anger. Katya misses her easy friendship with Liam, but the promise of what she can have with Wulf is what she truly wants. Katya and Wulf are an explosive couple with great chemistry, they just have to work through their issues.
The Neighborhood is a fitting follow-up story to Neighbors. While I love that Katya wasn’t a sweet pushover who forgives Wulf and Liam too easily, I thought her grudge was a wee bit much. She kept going and going, while the men went out of their ways to make it right. But then again, what they did to her wasn’t nice at all. The story ends with a little excerpt of Block Party, Liam’s story. I can’t wait to get my hands on his story.
“Having a good neighbor is nice, but having one that loves you and takes care of you and makes every moment feel like it’s catching on fire? Well, that’s just the best neighbor ever …”
I love The Neighborhood, I give the story of Katya 4.5 stars.
Once upon a time I discovered Romance books and I fell in love with the sweet, erotic and sometimes naughty stories. And then came Dirty ~ 5 stars
Once upon a time I discovered Romance books and I fell in love with the sweet, erotic and sometimes naughty stories. And then came Raw. Raw introduced me to a whole new subgenre of romantic books; dark love stories. Raw was different from any other book I read; it was gritty, it made me cringe, but I still loved it. The ending of the book broke my heart, and when Belle Aurora announced a second book I was thrilled. It has taken some time, but the wait for Dirty is so worth it.
“This life of ours is not normal. This life is dirty. The thing is, no matter how hard my father tried to raise me to be good, I never intended on staying clean.”
Alejandra has grown up in a mafia family, protected and sheltered from the outside world. She has always known marrying out of love wasn’t an option, getting to know her future husband Dino makes her less nervous. At least he’s friendly and kind, more than she could have hoped for. But a few months into the marriage Dino shows his true, psychotic face. And that’s what Alejandra has to endure for six long years; being married to a real monster, becoming a master at pretending everything is all right. When Julius shows up at her father’s mansion, Alejandra sees her way out.
“This life of ours is not normal. This life is dirty. The thing is, no matter how hard my father tried to raise me to be good, I never intended on staying clean.”
Julius is a dangerous man. Events from his childhood and teenage years have shaped him into the man he is today; lethal, loyal and straightforward. Losing Twitch hasn’t been easy on him; he wasn’t just a business partner he spends his working days with. When Julius gets involved with two ruthless mafia families he didn’t count on a beautiful, fragile woman with some sort of death wish.
“Being here, with Julius, like this, has become the most raw experience I’ve had in my entire life. A life changing experience. He looks into me and I return it, full force. No words are spoken. None are needed, not now.”
Despite the circumstances they meet in, Alejandra and Julius are attracted to each other. Alejandra is surprised she even can feel for something for a man after what her husband did to her. Julius quickly learns there’s much more to Alejandra. Yes, she’s hurt and needs to recover, but when he learns the true horror of her ordeal he all he can is admire her. Falling for each other in the middle of a mafia war isn’t wise, and hard decisions have to be made. Julius and Alejandra are a great couple, but there are so many forces beyond their control.
What a story. Like Raw, Dirty is gritty, brutal and not kind to its characters. I feel so sorry for Alejandra and what she had to endure. Being so innocent and protected she was no match for her husband and his depravity. But, even though her body was broken and scarred, her spirit isn’t. When she sees her way out, she takes the opportunity without a second thought. Julius is the brutal man we know from Raw, but Dirty gives a closer look at him; it gives a background to his actions and way of thinking. I like him. The secondary storyline throughout the book, the major twist/betrayal and the epilogue.. I can’t wait for the third book, bring it on!
“The expectation of love versus the reality is two completely different things. The expectation is that it’s all hearts and roses and feelings of warmth, kisses and long-lasting embraces filled with hope that life will be forever beautiful. But beauty doesn’t last. Never does. Even roses have thorns.”
I love Dirty, plain and simple. I give this story 5 stars.
