Ah I'm disappointed! What I thought was going to be a good revenge book turned into the same "let's save the magical world" book I have read a hundredAh I'm disappointed! What I thought was going to be a good revenge book turned into the same "let's save the magical world" book I have read a hundred of times already. You have the special snowflake heroine who's hot (but doesn't know it) AND super powerful and you have her mates who, guess what, are hot AND super powerful. The 2/3 of this book is pure filler. Boring. Nothing happens. Both plot and relationship wise there's no progression. Then in the last 1/3, the big bad villain dies and we learn there's another magical mysterious woman behind this. Give me a break. It was a choice to write a RH with a 17 years old girl. A choice I don't like at all. One there's barely any steam and it's muted as fuck (which I liked because the heroine is a minor), but two, WHY CHOOSE A RH ROMANCE WITH A MINOR?! Evelyn is a teenager and the problem is that her mates (even puppy Chad, the frat boy) are more mature than her and it amplifies how young and dumb she is. It's even more noticeable in this book.
Evelyn being still hung up on Lia was pathetic really. The girl was MEAN. From all the tit bits we learn ed about her (how she gave her second hand clothes to Evelyn, how she used to belittle her all the time, HOW SHE STOLE HER POWERS AND DIDN'T EVEN REGRET IT), and the author wants us to cheer for this girl? Really?!
The plotholes are everywhere too: Morgana is Evelyn's legal guardian but she tries nothing to take her away from the academy. In her past life, Evelyn has a normal life until 3 months before her birthday. Here Morgana goes batshit crazy after Christmas? Why? How could she know Evelyn has a lot of powers and will try to stop her? It just doesn't make sense. I'm sad because I liked the first book but this one is a let down. And this mysterious woman (another goddess? Lilith? Nyx?) I don't think I'll care....more

I don't get why we didn't read about what she went through in book 3 when she was going through it. It's very anticlimactic and I didn't connect at all to Cat's new persona. The book is very predictable (and short) and I couldn't care less about the ending. It was too easy. Lots of loose ends. Stefano's mother? Rosa? What about Gio's parents? Amie? I also find it very weird how Alessia is calling the others guys "uncle". ...more

It's a pretty basic supernatural academy RH with a "not like the other girls" heroine. I liked her actually. But in my mind they were all 18 years old and not 23. Too much immature to be taken seriously. Loved Moira! Noah is my fave in the RH. Alec is not very present. Didn't like Caleb: what's his purpose? He was supposed to help the heroine find her wolf and his catholic methods weren't it. I don't get it. Hated Kingston too. ...more

It was entertaining and I love a good revenge plot with a fierce heroine. Both books share a lot of similarities but both heroines are different. I won't lie, I loved Micai more. She was really into her revenge girl era and it fueled her. Here, Evelyn still thought she could change people (ones who willingly tortured her and didn't help her when she got killed - I know I know Theo was most likely under a curse), but her vulnerability gave her more layers. Still think it turned her into a naive heroine and not the good kind.
The world building needed more work though. Some inconsistencies (how can the shifters all live in a log cabin when it's not described as a gigantic mansion) and the plot seems too simple (more likely we're going to see more villains in the next books because I don't get why the shifters would be involved in the coven's mess if not for a bigger purpose).
For now, I'm confused about Allister and his role in all this (and why during Evelyn's first life, he was so passive)....more

It's a fantasy filled with magic and read very middle ages world. Nothing is really explained about the world. When is this taking place? Where? *crickets* The whole secrecy between Bloss (what a fucking awful name BTW) and her husbands was plain dumb and only existed for the plot. She could have explained to them the reason, she chose not to and then spent the book whining. I hated her husbands. In the beginning, they abused her and she is the next queen so I don't get how they could and how her mother and herself let them do this. Mind blowing. To me, the romance was dead from the beginning. No feelings, the only one she knew was Connor and up until the end, he hated her and wanted nothing to do with her. The author really tried to make the other three happen and it simply didn't work. They didn't know each other, they didn't really talk so the whole "I'm in love with you" came out of nowhere. The romance needed to be spread into the next book. At the very least. The lack of a big confrontation between Bloss and her mother made no sense. You can't write about mommy issues and not give us the closure!...more

Basically in this world, angels and demons live on Earth because after a war between the two, they kinda destroyed both Heaven and Hell and they decided to close the doors forever. They agreed to keep the "peace" (they even have a little contract) and not go against each other. I'm sorry but - by simple logic - doesn't that make all angels, FALLEN ANGELS???!!! That was the gigantic plot hole in this book. Like, the angels are all "we need to stay pure, demons are bad" but bitch you aren't an angel anymore because you don't live in Heaven. I don't know how the author didn't see how confusing her own words are. Nothing makes sense.
Plus, the heroine was a giant idiot. A succubus who only wanted to fuck hot people, and always waited the last minute to feed. Doesn't read succubus at all. She was reckless and plain dumb. Like come on, the villain is in your face since the beginning.
Shallow characters, stupid messy world building. The plot is so bland.

Too long and the story got boring. Two of Fury's mates disappeared for a while and we barely knew then by then so I don't get this writing choice. I didn't particularly like Roman. To me, it's clear his first mate was the love of his life and Fury was just the replacement, forever the second choice. I'm disappointed by how Fury changed too. I liked her spark and sass and here, she was just annoying.
Also the first book ends in the middle of a dialogue between Fury and her mates and the second book begins with Fury's dream. She went to sleep because she was tired?! Worse, they didn't continue their conversation until after she woke up. The book just stops and the second begins in a complete different set up. What the actual fuck?!
Maybe I'll pick it up again but for now I'm done....more

Fury was the kind of badass heroines I love. But she had her flaws and that's ok. A bit frustrating to listen to her saying honesty was important to her and that she hated being lied to when she literally spent the whole book lying to her mates. The mate thing needs more explanation though because Fury is actually dead so it doesn't make sense. Same with her dying, I thought the explanation was bad. I don't have a lot to say about the mates because to me, for now at least, they're not important. They're just there, they're cold and don't seem to have a lot of personality.
(I hated how she was an alcoholic though because for how much she distanced herself from her mortal past self, she was still Sunny. Hopefully she'll find peace and be free)....more

It dragged too much. The random sex scenes cut the flow and I wasn't interested in them. I wanted action. The confrontation between Catherine, Lily and Nilsa was a dud. Both villains spoke 3 lines each. I expected a real combat and some revelations about Nilsa's family and more of a backstory for the Eagle. Woman was human but was able to earn the respect of a lot of supes. How? Also why make such a big deal of Nilsa having both Lunar and Solar powers if you aren't make her a badass. Because she fought like she normally fought so. Like, I'm happy she didn't turn into an eternal goddess or something, but at the same time I thought she'd be more than a Shadow. I don't think Cooper's death brought anything to the table. I loved Elsie and she turned into a depressed character and for what?! Also didn't like the ending. I'm sure I've read the guys were sick of living on the goddamn boat and then they were happy with this life.
Loved the first book but the series suffered from the side quests in the second and the lack of a confrontation in the last.
Edit: Thinking about it, this series is more about lust than love. They say the words "I love you" quite a lot but the romance is shallow. And there's definitely 100% lust between Val and Nilsa. Connections between Nilsa and her harem are thin and seem to be influenced by the mate bond....more
