I wasn't a fan of the long time in between the second chance but I think I easily looked past it because it was off page. I loved how forward Ford was about his feelings and finally ready to take what he wanted. Ford and Milly's relationship made me swoon and feel good.
He's a divorced single dad and head football coach, she's an assistant Athletic Director at the same college they met at. The different facets of drama kept me turning the page, I didn't want to put it down. ...more

She needed help but wasn't a damsel in distress. Determined to do things herself. Elliott started out grumpy, rough around the edges but he was so caring and giving in his own way, such a likeable hero. He owns a company, she ends up as his assistant.
Lots of dialogue, connection, and facets of the story. Main conflict was resolved fairly quickly which is my fave. But there were plenty of other things going on to keep me engaged. This was my first of the series, off to read the rest....more

I thought I was picking up a short, smutty read but there was actually a decent amount of story with it. Though it started out a little slow and I felt like the story, in general, was missing some depth.
There was just more that didn't work for me than did with this one. Specifically, the conflict seemed weak. I actually thought the history of Irving helping Opal would be more problematic once she found out but it turned out to be not that big of a deal. There was a lack of contractions in conversational quotes (I found myself reading them with it to help flow better). Also, how Opal started out so meek and shy but one little pep talk from Cal and all the sudden she's brazen and takes what she wants. Plus, words like "flank" and "furrow" threw me from the story in addition to some grammatical errors.
I reallllly try to not DNF a book though so finish this one I did and per usual I was glad to see Opal, Irving, and Cal get their HEA. I was happy there was an epilogue to give us a glimpse into the future, to see how everything turned out with their project and life. ...more
