I tried to read it with an open mind, I really did, but Gott in Himmel this woman is PSYCHOTIC. I mean really... Nixon was the greatest president the U.S. has ever had? Does anyone in their right mind really believe that?
Aside from all of the historical and factual inaccuracies (this was written by the woman who thinks Canada sent troops to Vietnam, after all), there is also the matter of the childish name calling and "nanny-nanny-boo-boo" type remarks that get old very, very fast. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so racist and mean-spirited. She repeatedly cites the Venona Project as a reference and justification for McCarthy's actions, but doesn't discuss the fact that the majority of people who were harassed by the HUAC (and none of the blacklisted artists, musicians and actors) were named in Venona. This book was truly a chore to read; there were times I thought I could feel myself getting dumber, and times when I thought my eyes would bleed.
