This was absolutely incredible, I was hooked immediately and didn't ever wanna put it down. The character development was brilliant and I immediately connected. . Vic, what an incredible woman showing the hard times and the Triumph to overcome the hard times. . The story of a mother overcoming her addictions and recovering from her traumas from her past. To protect the people she loves. . This is 100% a book I would read again. I adored all the characters. Even Charlo Manx. The Gasmask Man on the other hand I actually found what he done in the book more terrifying than what Manx did. . This was a fantastic introduction into the world of Joe Hill and I'm hooked. I cant wait to read more of his works...more

Well what can I say, this book got completely butchered. So much of the book was cut out for the film it makes you wonder why it was called The Shining. Not to say I now dislike the film. It will still be dear to my heart but wow, I can see why Stephen King didn't like it. . Now the book felt pretty long but I honestly feel this is down to knowing the film first but I really enjoyed the start of it because you get to know more about Jack, Wendy and Danny and it was so nice and refreshing as you don't really get this in the film. Also I LOVED the history of The Overlook. . Over all it was a brilliant suspenseful book and I would 110% read it again probably next year. In no way did it make me dislike the film at all but I would say the film is just loosely based off the book. . The book is massively superior than the film although you can't deny the film is visually stunning. ....more
