OH MY GOD. This book blew my expectations out of the water or sky (lol). I ABSOLUTELY ADORED this book. Adrianna Herrera is on my list of authors that I need to read more about. I was not expecting to love this book so much but here I am absolutely obsessed. I love how emotionally mature Gideon is. The consent conversations and communication between Gideon and Rose were amazing to read. I love how respectful they were of each other boundaries. The sex-positivity too! I love heroines who own every part of who they are. I loved the mutual pining between Rose and Gideon. It added great depth to their story. This instalove worked super well for me!

I loved every secThis might one of the greatest cast of characters I've read in a book. Holy shoot. I just finished this and I'm at a loss for words. I loved every second of it. It's been sooo long since I've felt really sucked into a book. While it took me like 3 months to get past chapter 5, I could not put this book down. I was so enthralled by the characters and the world. This book made me cry & laugh. I legit don't know how to talk about this book without spoiling anything. but it was just SOO GOOD.
Mrs. Leigh Bardugo can write angst and sexual tension. KAZ AND INEJ's moments >>
The character growth across all six characters was BEAUTIFUL and so well done. Kaz is a beautifully crafted character. I don't think I have ever read anyone quite like him. I eat it up when he shows his ANY SIGN of softness. Jesper has my entire soul. & so does Wylan. They are so fluffy and wonderful characters who brought so much depth to the story with their own backgrounds. Inej is my queen. OD I need to say more?? Mattias might be one of my favorite characters too. His utter obsession and devotion to Nina >> Nina arc across this story is so interesting & I cannot wait to see more of her in the next series! ...more

@/_a.book.nook_ on Instagram put me on this book and now I am forever trusting her recommendations. I don't normally love fantasy but this one is an absolute favorite of mine! This book was a blend of Game of Thrones & Radiance (by Grace Draven). This book contains forced proximity, mistaken identity, kidnapping, and marriage of convenience.
Aster is the captain of the princess's guard and is capture by Svagnar, the warrior jarl of Arkavic. Svagnar thinks Aster is Adrienna, the princess! On their journey, Aster tries to kill him or escape MULTIPLE TIMES. She is fierce, strong, and loyal. Aster really embodies the strong heroine I love to read about. Instantly, Svagnar and Aster have the wittiest banter and chemistry. HE CALLS HER HELLHOUND. IT WAS SO FLIPPING CUTE. Svagnar IS SOO GONE FOR ASTER. It was surprisingly angsty and had a ton of pining. The smut was excellent. I totally recommend this book if you're looking for a fast-paced fantasy romance....more

She wrote her characters with so much depth and complexity. I honestly think you will find yourself in one of these characters. Basically, six teenagers attempt to break out a scientist in a prison that is impossible to break into for a lot of money.
I love how fleshed out the characters were. I love that it was written in third person POV but each chapter was written from a character's perspective. I really got to see the complexity and layers of each character. This is a character-driven book, but the pacing was perfect. The plot of the heist further the story and kept me engaged. I was on the edge of my seat, especially in the last half of the book.
Matthias was one of my favorites because he had the most inner conflict. His "goodness" or decency was continually challenged throughout this book. He is the byproduct of an elitist society and his journey to loving and accepting Nina was one of the best character arcs I've read. I love the enemies to lovers tension between Matthias and Nina. I loved Nina's passion, power, and resilience. Her journey is more about self-discovery and owning her identity. Her relationship with Matthias complicates things, but I love how much she owned it. She was outright about her feelings and accepted it for what it was. In contrast, Inej knew who she was. Her journey was more about finding freedom. I deeply related to Inej. She was everything I wanted in a heroine. She is one badass human with so much empathy. Kaz is the epitome of an anti-hero. He is the archetype for the type of anti-hero I want to read. He is cold-hearted, ruthless, smart, manipulative, and has the softest spot for Inej. He is the embodiment of the I-hate-everyone-but-you trope. He is so complex and I looked forward to seeing more of his vulnerable side. Jesper was the most intriguing character to me. He added humor to the story. He is quick witty, sarcastic, and a jokester. But, I got glimpses of his vulnerability and wanted to know more about the real Jesper. I did not like Wylan at first, but he really grew on me. In the end, I adored him and Jesper's banter. Overall, this had some of the best character development I have ever read.
This ends on a cliffhanger and IM DYING TO READ CROOKED KINGDOM....more

Where to start? I loved this fantasy romance book. Grace Draven wrote such a good friends to lovers story. After reading chapter 2, I already knew it would easily be a four-star book. Brishen and Ildiko have great banter and probably have one of the healthiest relationships. They are so honest and open with each other. I love how quick-witted, adaptable, and kind Ildiko was. To me, she is the definition of strength. She is the type of heroine that I love to read about.
If you want a genuine friends-to-lovers story, where it is purely platonic then it grows into love, this is the book to read. It was a fast-paced book, but their relationship was slow burn. I will say there is no overarching plot, like typical fantasy books. The romance is at the forefront of this book. It was great for me, but if you're looking for more of a fantasy adventure plot, you probably won't find it in this book. I do wish that the ending was more fleshed out. But, I am so excited to read book two and read more about Brishen and Ildiko's story....more
