Absolutely brilliant art and coloring here. What a treat to read through. Simplistic, but still great attention to detail. The constructed ads pages at the end of issues and the 1-page ongoing story there are great as well and give me that cozy, nostalgic feeling. These are not just there to fill up extra pages.
The quality of the hardcover is good and I love the thick newspaper feel of the pages. Besides some woke aspects that bring it down, it's an easy recommend. I'll check out what Jay does in the future...more

Another melancholic, small town one about the inhabitant's fates. I like the mix-in of supernatural strangeness though. It works so well in the otherwise very down to earth setting. I liked it from start to finish, and it was an easy read despite being confusing at times. I can't say I totally "got it" in the end. It was like one of those horror movies that tried to make sense by explaining some of the strange things, tie some of it together in the end, and just leave the rest hanging.
The art is what it is. It does the job and matches the story telling pretty well, but I still think the book could been even better with better artwork. That said, I will always respect greatly a creator that both writes and illustrates his works

A social justice warrior guy gets a hold of a powerful device, letting him kill people who use homophobic language, put a guy - who touches a girl inaA social justice warrior guy gets a hold of a powerful device, letting him kill people who use homophobic language, put a guy - who touches a girl inappropriately - in place and steal rich people's belongings. It's the perfect scenario for a white knight writer to live out his fantasies on paper. In other words, it's the same as a majority of american comics these days. Monologues from the main character tell us what's right and wrong. The reader is of course expected to: 1. Not share these morals before reading this comic, so learn something new and profound, or else get some kind of sadistic moral release and a "YES! Kill them bastards!"-reaction 2. They should pay for this lesson with their hard earned cash
However, I am actually prepared to continue reading. Which brings us to the things the creators did right - the art. It's a shame I haven't come across Andrew Robinson before. This is some absolutely gorgeous character art and perspective work. Because of that, I will likely see this through, and also follow Andrew and see what he has done in the past. I hope that they have gotten the moral release and virtue signalling out of their system in the first issue so that we can focus on the story next...more

Same teenage girl as in every story - angry and with one side of the head cut. Present a bunch of "unique" characters in 2 pages (they all have different hairstyles you see) who just happened to be there, have them say a word or two, and expect the reader to care. The industry could really do with more previews. I would understand that this wasn't for me in a 4 page preview. That cover is gorgeous though...more

The art is very bland and sparse with detail. The backgrounds in particular, but the characters as well. This makes it more difficult to get immersed in it. The feeling is that they have an economic approach. This feeling is increased by the amount of dialogue on every panel. It is filled with basic dialogue that doesn't do much for the story or the characters. Everything has to be commented on and discussed, so that we don't waste any paper on only the art - which again, would not be economic, and also wouldn't work since it isn't detailed or beautiful enough. After reading about halfway, I started to get a bit annoyed with this tendency, and to not get too bored I decided to read the dialogue very quickly.
At first, I really appreciated the extra pages at the end of each issue that collected newspaper articles or personal notes from a character. I thought it as attention to detail and a way to increase immersion, but after a few issues I noticed that it was also rather bland, and just a lot of text. Again, they decided that since they couldn't have more art, they just use these pages for almost pure text. This whole novel felt like it could've been AI generated. I don't accuse the creators of this - it's just the feeling I get from it. It's very generic in many ways, despite trying hard not to be.
In summary, it is a totally fine story with a decent thought to begin with. It just lacks attention to detail in both art and writing. Despite the animal characters and funny looking aliens, it all feels pretty generic in the end...more

It’s maybe trying to do a bit much but it’s interesting enough for me to continue checking out the rest. The art is not on par though.
