This one was enjoyable but I did find it to sit quite heavy. I found that we were introduced to the plot quickly but getting to have an understanding of the characters and the world took longer, which meant it took me a while to get invested into the story. I did get lost a few times and had to figure out where I was within the story and what had happened, but I think a lot of that was to do with my struggle to focus. I really enjoyed Valeria as a character and her growth was really strong. Watching her come to terms with who she is and accepting it all as one was really beautiful to see. I did get teary eyed at points as there were times that I could connect with her and how she felt as an individual. I loved that family was the core message within this book, it shows how important family is and the role they play into who you are as a person and how that shapes you. ...more
I really enjoyed this one, it’s a nice short, sweet read. I would have absolutely loved to have seen this book as a full length novel, as I think 3.75
I really enjoyed this one, it’s a nice short, sweet read. I would have absolutely loved to have seen this book as a full length novel, as I think we could have explored so much more of the characters. I would have loved to have seen the spice be a bit spicier. I loved the characters and found them to be well matched to each other and I can’t wait to explore the side characters some more in the other books. I loved the writing style, there were a few odd moments when time frame’s didn’t quite add up but it didn’t affect the book or my enjoyment of it. Overall a really nice enjoyable read, that I recommend checking out.

This one had me hooked from the start and I was so invested to find out what happened and how the character’s were linked. It definitely did a very quick 180 about 20% in and I had to do a double take as I thought that I had missed something. The plot was very well thought out and how all the little connections were made were done so well, that you didn’t really start to notice them till bits were being pointed out and you started questioning situations alongside the characters. The characters worked really well together and seeing how they’re relationship grew and ‘redeveloped’ was really nice. Overall I really enjoyed this one and will be checking out the other books.

We meet both our main character’s in the first chapter and get this really basic level interaction between them before we really start delving into the story. I loved the connection between the characters and how well their different dynamics worked. Their growth as individuals and as a couple, was really amazing to watch. The author's writing is so descriptive and immersive that I really felt like I was there in the moment. Definitely had me tearing up at points, as I could relate to the FMC at so many points. I loved the plot and am intrigued to see where it is going to lead in the next one, especially after that ending. Definitely one I recommend checking out when it releases on 5/10/24.

This one took a little bit to get into, as the writing was quite different to other books I’ve read, it was also a struggle to get a grasp on the characters, where the connection was going to be and how they fitted together. As much as I loved the slow-burn between the characters and the connection they built, I would have loved to have seen it come into action just that little bit sooner, so that I could enjoy them as a partnership a bit more before the next book comes into play, just because I feel like the next book we are going to see a lot more of plot play out. The representation of addiction and the emotional investment was done so well and I can’t wait to see more of it spoken about and how it can still affect people later in life, as I think this is gonna be a major point in the next book, based on what I’ve read (these are just my theories). I’m definitely invested and want to see where the rest of the story goes, and watch the characters come out of their shells a bit more.

I don’t want to go into too much detail, as I really think this is a book you should check out and go into blindly. But this I can tell you, I loved the characters and their different personalities, the way they complimented each other, the way certain traits shone through at different points. I was left guessing at certain points within the book on what was going to happen, but I did kinda guess what was going to happen at the end but still loved it and all the other little twists and turns. This book had so many elements that helped to make it stand out, which gives the combination of Romance and Thriller, this really gripping effect. Oh and the spice that was in there…. So good.

When Bethany stumbles upon witnessing a murder, she starts seeing the man in the white skull mask everywhere, in her sleep and on the streets. Bethany has a secret, whilst everyone has a theory on who the mystery man is, she had a one night stand at a costume party with a guy in a white skull mask. She never knew who he was, because his one condition was that he keeps his white skull mask on.
Do check trigger warnings before picking up this book. Immediately I was hooked, the mystery at the start has you wanting to find out more, I could barely put the book down. As the story progressed I was getting even more invested in the characters and what was going to happen and let’s just say I was not expecting that twist at the end. The characters were interesting and watching how they connected and almost gave this balance to each other, with not just their different views and morals but also with their characteristics, it just works so oddly well(hoping that sentence made sense...more

The first 2 books in this 3 book collection follow Liona and Beck, and the last book follows Winston and Marigold.
For her bachelorette party, Liona is graciously taken to a silent retreat at a swamp, thanks to her maid of honour and future sister-in-law. Needing a break from a group of girls that she doesn’t connect with and the thoughts of her future, Liona takes a walk in the woods alone at night and finds herself stumbling across an ogre, or should I say trapped by an ogre. Beck is the only ogre in the magical community and is put on security duty at the entrance. Did I forget to mention, he likes to eat humans….
Immediately you get the sense of Liona being a, grab the chances you’re given in life, kind of girl. She’s strong, feisty and not afraid to use what her momma gave her, to her benefit. Beck comes across as this really big lovable ogre, who is exploring new ways in life that he didn’t think were for him. I loved watching Liona and Beck’s relationship grow and develop through the two books, you really see them become confident in who they are and the trust that they have for each other. The spice is spicing in these books and I could not of been any more on board with it...more

As a short book, this one does progress really quickly, which doesn’t give us time to get to know the characters or their story. I would have liked to have known what led to the events in this book at the start instead of it being briefly mentioned in the middle, as it would have given the characters and the story so much more depth, as well as extending the book to allow us to gain a deeper level of connection with the characters. The writing is still really enjoyable and I can see myself enjoying more of this author's work. I'm especially intrigued to see what happens in the next book after the little bit of information we get at the end. Do check trigger warnings before reading this book as there are a lot of triggering situations and topics discussed.

We met 17-year-old Evan, as one life changing portrait has turned his world upside down and got him a spot on the Promising Young Artist program at NYU. After one chance encounter, his fresh new start takes a turn he never saw coming. With a race against time, Evan must figure out how to change the fate of a green-eyed girl, but this race is one he’s lost before.
I was automatically hooked into this book after the first chapter, the writing is just so gripping and descriptive. The development of the story and all the intricate little links between past and present just worked so well and flowed so easily, I had to force myself to put the book down. This story had me smiling so much, my cheeks began to hurt but also had some really sensitive moments as well, that were represented so beautifully in the writing and had me tearing up. Both our characters are so intriguing, the way they act and how their personalities bounce off each other, in the most perfect manner. The tension was built up so well, that I felt like my heart was racing with the characters. And that ending was just *chef's kiss* perfect, for the story and characters. I was honestly so blown away with this story and highly recommend checking it out when it releases on 15/10/24.

As a journalist for the New York Times, we meet Red as she journey’s home to Dayton, Washington, for the first time in 5 years, to scope out a local story of 3 mysterious deaths. On the journey to get her story, she reconnects with her childhood friend and crush Jack, as well as members of the community she hasn’t met before. With the people of her home town hesitant to help and the story getting more and more interesting, Red takes it upon herself to solve the mystery of these deaths and find out what really is happening in Dayton.
G.M Fairy has you immediately hooked in with the story, although we started right in on the story's main plot, she still gives us just enough backstory to build up our main character’s past and keep us intrigued to see what happens. Red is such an interesting, strong, independent character and getting to see her development throughout the book was, for lack of a better, entertaining, she had the odd moment when she frustrated me and I just wanted to shake her, but the journey to discovering herself was well thought out. There is one character that I would like to bitch slap and I’m sure when you all pick up this book, you will too. I loved all the little references to the original fairy tale, it added such a great element without it being too much. I could easily read another book following these characters, as their story was so intriguing. I can’t wait to see where G.M Fairy takes the rest of the characters.
