She has this way of blending arts, various kinds into the world to make a beautiful story. She always gives a narrative which creates a wonderful visual, though some times there is almost too much detail.
I enjoyed this story and how the character's stories intertwine with that of The Changeling Girl, a fictional fairy tale that has a strong base in the story. I could say certain outcomes or truths are predictable but they never arise in the manner you think they will. Carol Goodman weaves a wonderful and lyrical web.
**SPOILER ALERT** (view spoiler)[I do think the one connection she missed out on is Ivy St. Clare. The Ivy we know as the Dean, we find out that she has the name of Lily's daughter. Things like "...atmospheric thriller..." and "gothic mystery...." lead me to expect more thriller throughout the book and I didn't find that. Atmospheric...yes, always with Carol Goodman. Mystery...yes but not thriller. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. The reviews just set my expectations higher on the thrill meter and that wasn't fair....more
