The book is split into two time periods, 2012 and Salem witch time (sorry I forget the year). The portion in the past I just can't wrap my head around, cannot draw a mental picture of anything being described. And while the current time is interesting to read nothing is really pulling me in yet.

It was a lot longer than I expected too. The chapters were long. It felt not well laid out; there were places for a natural break within the chapter that was not taken advantage up that should have been. I understand Kiedis was telling his story but it needed better structure and flow. It read like a rambly series of "this one time I XYZ" stories with no real thought about purpose or how it contributed to the overall story. I am a fan of the RHCP so *maybe* one day I will borrow this book again and start from where I left off. Maybe....more

It kept me reading but not in that frantic "what will happen next" pace but rather a simple "easy to knock out a chapter at a time" pace. The mystery took a turn I did not quite understand it feel necessary and I going myself a bit confused in the end. I ended up really disliking Flo's mother. I thought the character was better than her actions or at least I had hoped she would be. All in all the book was decent. Easy read....more

U am not sure what I expected from the book but it wasn't this. And although it seems like it should be right up my alley it just read as dull and peculiar to me. And it is garnering no interest. I am about half way through, it's barely 200 pages long, but have zero interest in even pushing through to the near end just to have finished it....more
