Its one of those stories that wanders between the lines of fantasy and reality. As a reader, I was wondering which side of Katrina I was reading since she is utterly unreliable and her actions felt unexpected. Katrina comes off as unsettling and the story too moves like that… weird at first, but I was able to connect with and feel for Katrina in the following chapters. Mind you, this is not a negative review! I LOVED this book and I’m just afraid that this might not be as appreciated as I would like it to be and it saddens me. Another fascinating aspect of the story is seeing Katrina decode the “mystery”. While she is not sure what reality is, she grasps and figures it out herself. What “it” means? Each story deal with a certain situation that we all might have come across at some point in our lives. Aditi turned those stories to say a loveable message. Its more special to me as I could relate to many of these stories as an Indo-American myself. Binged them in a day, no regrets, only hearts!!

Its a good and proud thing, but also sometimes its not so convenient. Being an API reader, I have had my eyes on The Fortunes of Jaded Women ever since I heard about it! Gladly, I enjoyed it very much. Enjoy is a subtle word here—I sobbed ugly, felt embraced and overall felt good after reading!! I altered between the e-arc and the audiobook I borrowed from my library. I didn’t feel a disconnect anywhere. The story just flows because its written very well!! Highly recommend if you read women’s fiction and appreciate a little magical realism in the story.

I went in with expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. I think I enjoy fantasy stories with high elements other than romance. This has demons, gods and magic which I enjoyed very much. The first half builds and the second half just prowls on you!! Loved the shifts in the storyline, like a stream with a majestic waterfall at the end. Amazingly written.

Yes the story is little unrealistic with college students stealing art from highly secured museum, but people do crazy things on an impulse. The characters greatly complement the story with their vulnerability, familial expectations and their greyish morales. The story is part heist and part exposé on history and colonialism.
Grace has gracefully captured the diasporic feeling of having one leg in the immigrated country trying to fit in and the other in the homeland struggling to hold on to the tradition and culture, is something that only immigrants can understand!! No matter how old you are, its a feeling that stays - like minerals in water - you cannot see, but its there.
Highly recommend!

They must seek a long term solution in order to survive! They rely on the lore and mythology they heard growing up, to hunt and navigate through this forest. The characters went well with the story and I felt they were all given equal importance! I mean they all played a role in finding the magical villainous creature. The ending is a cliffhanger, but didn’t bother me much since I think I will be rereading this before the next release.
Although it took me a while to get into the world that Ayana has created, Beasts of Prey delivered what my adventure loving Mowgli heart was expecting. It was a fun read! One great debut, that lives up to the hype. Also that book cover is *heart eyes*

We follow Amraeya / Rae, a new main character in this spin-off who works for the princess from Thorn. The princess’s story is mentioned at some parts in this book to not break the flow and it’s completely coherent. Rae has a mission, she needs to find out what happened to her friend’s sister. But its not that easy to poke around in places she shouldn’t. But as truths unfold, she gets closer to discovering what happens to children who get snatched! The story is thoughtful, touches several micro-aggressions with such care and love. The characters were so well crafted to complement the story. I applaud the inclusion of dealing with trauma in the story. Not many fantasy books do that!! I overall enjoyed this YA high fantasy with power struggles and magic. I’d definitely read the next and the original book.

A young Australian woman searches for her grandfather’s dictionary, the key to halting a mining company from destroying her family’s home and ancestral land. Its a necessary reading that celebrates the power of language, cultural hope and what “home” means for dispossessed Aboriginal people. Its a part of Australian history that needs to be read & remembered!
