This novella was an extended epilogue to Silver Storm.
In the story, our two lovers have been married for 6 years and have two children. Devon and Andre are trying to find a balance between their marriage and their children.
Devon is worried that Andre isn't happy with domestic life and will leave her for the sea like her father did. It doesn't help that her mother is trying to set her up with her ex. Apparently, divorce isn't a big deal since the British were defeated. ---I'm sure that fact is true ...more

Problems: 1. The plot was all over the place 2. No character development 3. There was nothing historical accurate! Hell! Even in modern times, divorces, marriages, and annulment can't be accomplished in days

Normally, I hate Cinderella stories. First half the h is usually being treated horrible, and the second half is beyond frustrating waiting for the couple to be reunite. This was not the case in this book.
Nora had a great life until her stepfather died. Now, her evil stepbrother and cruel wife treat Nora's life like hell. Nora and her friend can't leave because her mother is very sick. So she has to put up with his cruelty. When he is too physically abusive, Nora escapes to an old hunting lodge. She is surprised one night when she crawls through the window and finds it occupied
Wesley is the son of a Duke. He is very introverted and prefers to work on his machines. He makes a bet with his father. If he makes a miraculous invention, then his father will leave him alone, and if Wesley loses he has to attended a ball. When Nora literally lands at his feet, he has found his new project.
First, he invents new crutches for her size and then begins working on a prosthetic leg. In return for her help, she will get to keep the new leg and get paid. She desperately needs that money to call a doctor for her mother. These two continue meeting to meet in secret and a friendship develops, along with love.
When Nora's brother and wife are in Town shopping for clothes that they have600mg 6 t t⁵⅝ no money to spend. The midwife discovers Norma's mother is sick because she is slowly being poisoned with Foxglove. While waiting for her mother to get strong enough, Wesley invites her to his father's ball.
From friendship to love, this was a romantic story. Instead of a slipper, it's was a prosthetic leg. I really was surprised how much I enjoyed this story. I highly recommend!
Sidenote: not 178 pages as goodreads listed but 330. To be honest the story ⁹wkas fast paced and I never noticed.

This was a great novella! The author picked an interesting time period. The H (author used a real person) was one of the men who killed Thomas Beckett. The murderers were excommunicated by the Pope and forced to serve 7 years in the Holy Land in order to be forgiven. On his way to Jerusalem, Sir Richard is attacked by a mob of villagers. Mercy saves him and heals his wounds.
Mercy has a reason for saving him. The Bishop is stealing the villagers' sons. Once they turn 5 years old, he takes them, and they are never heard from again. Mercy's son will be 5 in a week, and she needs someone to help stop the Bishop. Problem is that Richard can't remember anything. Can he save them? Can he be redeemed?
The books subject matter can disturb some. Everything is kept as a mystery, but it's very obvious why the Bishop wants only young boys. The book never goes into detail. What's sad is the scared villagers won't stand up to him, and some even help him. They don't know why he wants them, but they do know that they are never seen again.
Spoiler *************** I really enjoyed this book and didn't want it to end! So why 3.7 stars? The ending was a little ambiguous. If the author had just wrote a few more pages, it would have been perfect. I was left wondering how this couple was going to get a HEA? The knight is still excommunicated. The author could have written that he was forgiven for stopping an evil man. The villagers could have been humbled and appreciative. Just a few more pages could've wrapped the story up beautifully!
Conclusion: I would still highly recommend this book! I loved it ...more

This was just an okay read! The romance felt rushed. The h received her first kiss, then two days later, gave away her virginity. Makes no sense in a hr! This is a big reason why I avoid novellas.
Still, (to be fair) as a whole, the story wasn't bad.

Meh..nothing special. The author created a ridiculous reason for the MC to separate 5 years ago. The H overhears the h wanting a contraception and takes it as a betrayal. In return, the h hides a secret baby from him. Once he learns of his daughter ge goes to Scotland and brings them both home. The author continues with ridiculous misunderstandings throughput the book. I think the book would have been better if it had been 100 page novella. , then the author wouldn't have had to write an absurd plot to keep to keep the MC APART.
