Naruto, Vol. 43: The Man with the Truth (Naruto, #43), Masashi Kishimoto
Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village.
The Man with the Truth: To bring the battle to a swift end, Sasuke conjures up a bolt of lightning to strike Itachi down.
Itachi survives the attack, but after removing Orochimaru from Sasuke's body, he dies. Tobi collects Sasuke to tend to his injuries, and Naruto, having lost Sasuke's trail, is forced to return home.
Once Sasuke regains consciousness, Tobi tells him of the Uchiha's history: that after he, Madara Uchiha, helped to found Konoha alongside the future First Hokage Hashirama Senju, a mistrust between Konoha's leadership and the Uchiha was created over the generations with the Nine-Tails worsening it.
When years later the Uchiha began planning to overthrow this leadership, Itachi was ordered by Konoha to eliminate his own clan to prevent the Uchiha clan's rebellion.
While Itachi did as instructed, he chose to spare Sasuke and lived as a criminal while lying to Sasuke so that Sasuke could someday kill him to avenge their family and become a hero.
At some point, Itachi contracted an incurable disease that shortened his lifespan considerably, yet he forced himself to stay alive so he could die by Sasuke's hands.
Realizing that Itachi was as much of a victim as he was, Sasuke heads out to destroy Konoha.

And here's the moment of truth. Itachi is such a bad-ass, and the fight only serves to prove how far Sasuke has come to avenge his clan, of how powerful he is and how many sacrifices he's taken. I loved the Karin move, but I loved how snakeboy got sealed even more. What a twist in the character sheet!
But above all, it was Itachi's end that carried the volume on to great heights. (Now is that because I'm anticipating the next volume? Or is it because there was enough backstory to make it precious? Who knows. I certainly can't tell anymore.)

I have always been obsessed with Itachi Uchiha. Everything about him was memorable. Including his tragic death. By far one of the most shocking ends to the life of Itachi Uchiha, and how one poke on the forehead could answer many heart-warming questions.

Wow, okay. This was even worse than I remembered it to be. Kishimoto is so bad at handling redemption arcs, especially when he's writing them for characters that have no need for one. And Itachi didn't have to get one.

Never understood why so many HATE Sasuke. I get how frustrating he can be but you'd have to be heartless to say that considering how his past warped him. Sasuke never chose to better himself like Naruto, so he is at fault. But you can't dismiss how much he suffered. As well as Itachi.

My favorite volume of any manga ever

I think this is the longest volume so far with around 250 pages. This volume was all about earth-shattering revelations and bad choices. Itachi's odyssey clearly showed his resolve and love for Konoha. He killed the entire Uchiha clan just so that the peace continue to persevere in his homeland for many generations to come. I can't even begin to imagine how he managed to bear this heavy burden all alone for such a long time while keeping his emotions in check. It came as a shock that Itachi actually was a peace-loving shinobi and he never let his mask slip in front of anyone. And after learning the truth about Itachi, Sasuke is about to unleash hell on Konoha. Without a doubt, this is one of the shocking plot-twist ever! No wonder, this volume has an exceptionally high average rating!

Manga a place where a artist’s inner self is exposed through small pictures on a black and white paper in a small book form. To date in my honest opinion Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) has earned my respect as a true manga artist with his masterful plot and character backgrounds. This particular plot is the one were I like the best is the one between two brothers Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha. On the one side Sasuke wishes to avenge his clan by killing those responsible whose is his brother Itachi. Itachi on the other side wants to measure his capacity and take his brother Sasuke’s eyes due to hidden circumstances unknown to Sasuke. Avenger and black sheep only one brother can win and continue the bloodline.
Sasuke one of the last Uchiha’s is one of the last ninja in his clan with a kekkai genkai(a bloodline trait found only in the Uchiha Clan) that gives their eyes special abilities. Abilities that they possess are copying their opponent’s movements which are Ninjutsu, Genjutsu(illusion attacks) and Taijutsu (physical attacks) are just some of the things that this clan possess. With this kekkai genkai the sharingan he wishes to gain the level of sharingan mastery that his brother possessed the mangekyou sharingan a level you achieve through a cruel method. Itachi has obtained this level of sharingan by drowning his best friend giving his brother’s sharingan a stronger array of jutsu that he could use with his eyes. Gaining this immense power comes at a price though the loss of your vision.
Sasuke one of the last pureblooded Uchiha’s left after the Uchiha Clan massacre where Itachi and an unknown assailant wiped out their entire clan. Sasuke coming home after school finds hhis clan completely silent and runs to the main household, which was his house. As he was coming to their room he hears a struggle and opens the door to find his mother and father become executed by no one other than is brother Itachi. Enraged Sasuke charges at Itachi with murderous intent trying to stop him and gets caught in Itachi’s mangekyou sharingan technique the Tsukuyomi(The Nightmare Realm) and watches in horror as he witnesses each member of his clan become mutilated even his mom and dad again repeatedly for three days. Awakening from this shortly and exhausted Sasuke runs away from Itachi but he catches Sasuke effortlessly and tells him”You…aren��t even worth killing. Baby brother, your’re pathetic. If you want to kill me…settle for…hating me…Hate me and live like the coward you are! Clinging to life without honor!” in a dark and foreboding voice, forcing Sasuke to be the avenger of the Uchiha Clan to get stronger and confront him again and kill him.
Itachi Uchiha a man with so many skeletons in his closet he can start a war within his village. Murdering his best friend and girlfriend in cold blood to achieve the mangekyou sharingan and killing his clan for reasons unknown. Then joining other S-rank (highest rank from D toS rank) in a ninja group called Akatsuki meaning “Dawn” or”Daybreak” because there is safety in numbers doing small crook jobs for money. Now he has a new goal he wants to kill his brother to take his eyes and replace them in his own body to achieve an inextinguishable sharingan and prevent him from the fate of being blind going as far to call his brother his spare in the middle of the fight.
Nearing the end of this family feud Itachi dies of exhaustion and an disease that has been killing him slowly the entire fight leaving Sasuke angry because he still bears hatred towards him. Finally dying he say to his brother Sasuke “Sorry Sasuke there will be no next time.”. Losing one of this manga’s most talked about characters just showing you this crazy series is coming to an close soon.

SPOILER ALERT
I gave my review a five star because in this volume the author reveals something special. He finally ends up giving his reader that long awaited battle between brothers Itachi and Sasuke. The author keeps you going back and forth unsure who really wins the battle. He wrote about a perfect battle filled of powerful moves, blood, and a story past all the illusions. Sasuke finally revives his revenge after all the blood and betrayal, yet that's not the most important part.
In this volume after Sasuke's victory it reveals his brothers side of the story. That reason behind Itachi's destruction of his family was due the love he had for his brother and his hatred of war. This reveal makes Sasuke's long awaited victory so bitter sweet. For Masashi Kishoto to give us that side, and depth of the such hated character truly shows no one is really a villan.

Probably another favorite of mine. The first time I was reading Naruto back in middle school and high school, I stopped reading here for a very long time. It was one of the first times (if not THE first time) that a character's death effected me so much. I could not, would not, did not WANT to process any of it because my favorite character died and his story is just so heart breaking. I don't think I've ever cried so much from reading.
And yes, I cried again. A lot. It's impossible for me not to cry really... even if I DO know what happens next.
Even this time around it's hard for me to want to continue reading and not pick up something else for a while, and I think it's pretty incredible for writing to affect me that way.

Even this time around it's hard for me to want to continue reading and not pick up something else for a while, and I think it's pretty incredible for writing to affect me that way.

The truth is shown but not before Sasuke and Itachi go out it one final time.
The fight here actually works. Even the dramatic build up to the "ultimate" attack from Sasuke, the last few smaller attacks, the epic summon, all of it worked because you feel the desperation of this guy trying to really murder his brother. The second half deals with the fallout and oh my, secrets are reveal. Some I could have guessed, some feel a bit lying, but the heart of it worked really well to help build Sasuke up and give him a new mission.
I will say I am eager now to see where Sasuke goes. From a few volumes ago I was tired of his bitching and complaining and was hoping he would get a new goal soon and he finally has one. Poor naruto group feels lost on their next mission but they might have a new enemy very soon.

I must say it is and it will forever be(fingers crossed) my favorite Manga novel read.
the way Masashi Kishimoto described the characters is just awesome, you get to see them growing up, becoming responsible... powerful...
and it is not just characters,
The plot itself is so much bigger... u simply can't get enough of it. and add to that,
u get more than just entertainment, you learn...
what is
responsibility,
respect,
kindness,
friendship...
so it is not just a manga it is a way of living... The sprite of never giving up!!!

I loved this :D It's a very dark and slightly disturbing look into Itachi's and Sasuke's past. Also it takes a look into the past of the Uchida clan. I thought it was very dramatic, and the deaths in this manga were ones I already knew would happen. It was still a bit melancholy and sad when said character lost his life (almost a spoiler :P ) There is a major turning point at the end of the manga (one I also knew would happen.) I loved the way everything was drawn, with so much expression and emotion in the character's faces. Mr. Kishimoto has outdone himself on this manga! :D

40 volumes of wanting Itachi dead, I'm finally happy that Sasuske won. I almost rejoice Itachi's death, but a few more pages later, I'm mourning for him. He is now one of my favourite characters. This feels worse than the deaths of Asuma and Jiraiya.

I thought is sad how Itachi just died and Saskue finds out the truth. I think it's crazy in the end that Saskue wants to destory Konha(can't spell!) I hope it's only to kill Danzo, no the others!

For those of you new to manga, Naruto is a fantasy sci-fi fiction series based on Japanese myths and the Buddhist religion about a character with the same name who has a nine-tailed fox locked inside of him. A long time ago there was a fox-beast destroying cities and Lord Kazagake sealed the fox beast inside of Naruto when he was just a baby. Naruto controls the fox and can only let him out if he chooses to. Naruto sometimes releases the fox to fight his opponents. Interestingly, in book 43 the fox does not play a role in the story. This review will be hard to understand if you have not read any of the books in the series, especially the concept of sharingan, magical eyes with super strong powers. I will do my best to keep it simple.
I recommend book 43 of this series because the fight between Sasuke Uchiha, one of Naruto's best friends, and Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke’s older brother, who killed their whole clan including their parents, was one of the best battles of the whole series. One important thing is that at the end Sasuke, defending his parents´honor, kills Itachi.
During the battle between Sasuke, Obito Uchiha, another clan member, is fighting against Naruto, and his friends Kakashi,Yamato, Hinata and Kiba. Narutoa and his gang were trying to stop the battle between the Uchiha brothers but Obito doesn't want Naruto involved.
During the fight with Naruto, Obito tells them that Sasuke will probably die. Naruto gives Obito a bad look because he doesn't want Sasuke to die and tells him to take it back. Obito refuses and Naruto attacks him with the rasengan (one of Naruto's powers) but Obito simply just moves to the side and dodges it. Kiba attacks Obito after Naruto and Obito uses his kamui (one of his powers) and Kiba just went through Obito. Kakashi asks Obito what his name is (only Naruto fans will understand why) and he does not respond. The only thing Obito does is to remove his mask showing his sharingan (special eyes the Uchiha have). Kakashi was surprised and says that he is a member of the Uchiha clan and to watch out because he is very powerful. Kakashi realizes that he knew Obito when he was younger and that his own eye is the same as Obito´s, (Obito gave his right eye to Kakashi when they were younger). After all the fighting a bad guy named Zenjitsu comes out of a tree to tell Obito that the battle between Itachi and Sasuke has begun. Obito is pleased and uses his izanagi (teletransportation power) to escape Naruto and watch the battle.
Sasuke enters Itachi´s palace and sees all these paintings on the wall of the Uchiha clan. He enters the room where Itachi is, and finds Itachi sitting on his throne. Sasuke sees him and tells him that he will die today. Itachi is disappointed because he does not have the same eyes as Itachi and did not get the amaterasu (the strongest version of the sharingan). Sasuske stabs Itachi in the chest and says goodbye. Itachi raises his arm and points left and Sasuke, confused because he thinks he has killed Itachi, sees Itachi again on his throne. Sasuke realises that Itachi used a genjutsu (magical spell that makes you imagine things, in this case, stabbing and killing Itachi) against Sasuke. Sasuke uses his chitori (an electrical bolt) and combines it with his sword. Sasuke goes behind the throne and stabs Itachi in the back but it's another of Itachi's genjutsu.
Sasuke is enraged and attacks him again for the third time with his chitori and Itachi just deflects it with his kunai (knife). Sasuke punches Itachi in the jaw and sends him up to the roof. Sasuke jumps up and they both use their fireball jutsu. Itachi wakes up his Amaterasu (another strong power) that created the Susano (a giant skeleton that nothing can get through). Sasuke uses the snake jutsu but Itachi kills it in a second. Itachi suffers little damage but out of nowhere he started coughing blood out. Obito and Zenjitsu, who were watching, were surprised to see Itachi coughing up blood. Obito says that Itachi has a disease and is getting worse from his disease. Sasuke did not know this and does not know what to do. Itachi, about to die, touches Sasuke's forehead and tells him ¨No matter what you decide from now on… I will love you forever… You don't have to forgive me,Sasuke.¨ Then itachi falls on the floor and dies. Sasuke has defeated Itachi.
Obito is surprised that Sasuke kills Itachi and then his sharingan voice gets deep and says, ``Just kidding, I knew it was going to happen ever since Itachi was a kid.¨ Obito appears after the fight and heals Sasuke in a cave.
Obito tells Sasuke that he did not know a lot about his brother Itachi. Sasuke asks Obito how he knows more about Itachi than Sasuke. Obito shows his sharingan. Sasuke is surprised and shocked that he is an Uchiha. Sasuke says “I thought that my brother killed all the Uchiha members”, but Obito says that there are 3 more left. Obito explains that he would tell the truth about Itachi. Obito says that Itachi had a disease and that Itachi gave Sasuke his Amateratsu to Sasuke. Sasuke is surprised that Itachi would do something like that. Sasuke finds out that Itachi only wanted to protect Sasuke and let Sasuke kill Itachi in order to get him the Amaterasu. Itachi killed all the Uchiha because they wanted to start a war with the Hidden Leaf Village (another clan) so he had to stop them by killing all of them. Sasuke asks for Obito's name and Obito answers Madara Uchiha. Sasuke says that he heard that name before and Obito answers that Madara was one of the best Uchiha members. Zenitsu tells Kakashi and Naruto about the news that Itachi is dead and that Obito is with Susuke in the cave. They are very surprised. Finally, Sasuke has these visions about Itachi and realises that Itachi only wanted to protect him, and now that Itachi has planted his Amaterasu in Sasuke, Sasuke has gained a lot of power.

Within the pages of this volume, you'll find some of the greatest fiction of all time. I pity anyone who has overlooked this series due to whatever prejudice they may have against it.
