★★★★★! Fear Me, book 1 of 2. Lust, contempt, revenge, seduction, mystery & conspiracy!

“I want you to remember that there is nothing good about me, and there never will be.”

Books in Broken Love series should be read in order:
Book 1: Fear Me - Keiran & Lake
Book 2: Fear You - Keiran & Lake
Book 3: Fear Us - Keenan & Sheldon
Book 4: Breaking Love - Dash & Willow
Book 5: Fearless - Keiran & Lake

♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫
“River Deep Mountain High” by Tina Turner (early edition) captures this story for me: ♫ CLICK TO LISTEN ♫
♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

Fear Me (book 1) opens up to student Lake Monroe dreading her last year in high school as her tormentor of 10 years Keiran Masters is set to be released from juvenile and be back in school.

We also travel back in time to their first meeting and get glimpses into the childhood of two orphans. As the story progresses we learn what sent Keiran away and why he is using that to torment Lake further.

The story follows them in current time as Kieran makes his return set on continuing his bullying, but now with sexual overtones. Their attraction is palpable yet Keiran is hateful, volatile, dominant, relentless, possessive and severe in his seduction and ruining of Lake.

But somewhere along the way the story shifts and it becomes so much more than the present and past and their lust. There is mystery to be solved and very dark forces in the sidelines with murky motives.

Maybe Kieran isn’t just the too good-looking, flawed guy set on revenging the girl he clearly has a crush on. And maybe Lake won’t have to remain the submissive girl confused and disgusted by her feelings and desire for him…

“Let go of his hand and maybe I'll let you come tonight when I fuck you.” I immediately wrestled my hand from Jesse, cursing the fact that I wanted him.
“Good girl,” he praised.”

Keiran Maters is my new favorite BOY alpha. In story he is described as tall, dark and brooding. Add possessive, calculated, broken, complex, closed off, vindictive, commanding, captivating, charming and sinister to that and you have the Keiran he lets the world see. The story will peel some of those layers off, but for most part in book 1 he stayed true to that.

“I’m afraid for him because every day he has to fight the person he is, to be the person he wants to be.”

One word that comes to mind when I think if Lake Monroe is perseverance. She might not have stood up nor fought back but she survived it with her head held high. It’s also confusing for her to feel such an intense attraction to her tormentor. Seven words to describe Lake: Reflective, naïve, broken, loyal, strong, conflicted and meek.

“I liked his kisses and his taste far too much. I shouldn’t like them at all.”

Fear Me, told mostly from Lake’s POV, kept me glued to my Kindle, up all night and barking at anyone who dared to interrupt my reading. The driving force is Keiran and his menacing, possessive and commanding ways and the sexual tension overload. These two set my Kindle on fire. Add to that the complexity of the plot; many interesting character, the mystery and dark forces and you have 5 star read for me.

Book ends with a set of shockers that has me wondering if I might need to go into hibernation until I can get my hands on book 2, Fear You with the conclusion of their story.

Larger-than-life sinister alpha BOY hero, Keiran Masters! Sizzling and kinky sex scenes! Spell-binding plot! Excellent story-telling! Dark, sexual, mysterious and addictive!

“No one touches you. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” I whispered. I hated the eagerness apparent in my voice.”

This was one of those books people who thought anyone liking Fifty Shades of Grey wanted to be whipped and had a poor understanding of what a healthy relationship looked like - never mind it being a work of fiction - would hate.

description

The guy is psychotically possessive and violent.
The female shows very little backbone and any resolve shatters in the face of "but he's so hot and handsome and my downstairs parts can't take it."
And everyone in the book bows down to the main character's desires, no matter how ludicrous.

Now, that said, while I didn't love this book...I also couldn't put it it down.

Right or wrong, I am a sucker for crazy, possessive, completely unhealthy examples of the lurve in all its forms and this book had that in spades.

What kept me from really liking this book though is the fact that - while yes, it was a train wreck I couldn't look away from - it was still just that...

description

While I loved all the crazy and the possessiveness, I also had trouble...suspending my beliefs in certain ways...

description

And, believe me, I am a guru in the belief suspension arena.

However, when stretching the bounds of what is normal, you either have to go ALL the way outside of the realms of "normal" (think fantasy and paranormal, etc.)....or at least keep the ship close enough to the shore for the reader to think, "Well, it could happen. If I squint."

But, alas, you can only squint so much before you just can't see. And this one just went a little too far with the H for me.

Although, I definitely saw the writing on the wall as far as realism goes at the beginning when - as we first meet our main female lead -- her inner eight-year-old thoughts sounded less eight-year-old and more 20-something college student taking Psychology 101...and thereby learning just enough to sound halfway knowledgeable and halfway retarded.

Raise your hand if you'd like an example.

description

"She definitely had the adorable kid look down.

'Hi,' I finally responded after the silence became awkward. I could see some of her confidence disappearing when I continued to stare.
'What's your name?' she prompted nervously. I wasn't sure I should answer her. She looked like trouble and a long day...

She looked like "trouble and a long day."

description

That sounds like a 1890's harlot calling Clint Eastwood a tall glass of water.

Not an eight-year-old meeting another kid at the playground for the first time, which is the context of this scene, by the way.

Reminder: These are eight-year-olds.

Everything about this moment felt different. I was unable to look away from his startling gray eyes. They were taunting me, daring me to look to look away and risk the consequences.

Again...eight year olds.

description

And that was just the tip of the ice berg. After that opening scene, all the main players were supposed to be high school students. And yet they all interacted, talked, and moved through their days like 30 year-olds with mafia ties and a shit load of baggage.

I thought it was ridiculous that a high school student supposedly had someone in place to kill people in other cities based on just his say so, that a teacher would stop talking and do whatever a student told her, and that NO one in this book seemed to have parents that were ever home if they even had them at all.

Call me crazy.

But I digress.

In short: I liked this book enough to finish it...but not enough to pay $3.99 to read book two, as appealing as train wrecks are to watch.

Fuck me this was a dark read....and I fucking loved it.
Reading Dark books is probably my favourite genre of books to read.
Don't ask me why because I'm still trying to figure it out.
Fear Me is a mind fuck of a read, it's the most fucked up book I've ever read, but I loved it so much.
This book isn't your everyday high school romance, and it deifnitely isn't for the faint hearted.
It's safe to say that it made me cross, upset and a little disgusted, but I just couldn't for the life of me, put it down.

Keiran Masters has been bullying Lake Monroe since she was seven years old.
He bullies her and only her.
Lake has been bullied all of her life, but Keiran only wants one thing. To own her.
Nobody can have her but him.
Fear me is so fucked up because even though Keiran and Lake absolutely despise each other they're attracted to each other. Some of the exchanges that they had was pretty far-fetched, but I enjoyed every minute. I love books that make me go 'what the fuck.'
Even though there were some predictable moments in the story, the book still managed to knock me on my ass.

It's safe to say that Keiran scared the shit out of me. Cruel isn't a strong enough of a word to how he treats Lake. He's possessive, relentless and twisted, but to me that made him sexier to me..in a very weird way. I hated Keiran so much because he's just horrible but at the same time, I wanted him.
Keiran only wants one thing.
He wants to own Lake, that's obvious enough, but he also wants to ruin her.
Basically he's a sick bastard.
And although Lake's being bullied left right and center....she still had strength and bravery in her.
And I really liked that.

Mysterious And Suspenseful

I just finished this one and I am still trying to decide what I think about it. This definitely isn't your everyday high school romance. It made me angry, sad and disgusted. Above all else, I was completely captivated by this story and could not put it down.

Unlike most alpha-male heroes, Keiran doesn't grow out of his A-holery. There were only lesser shades of A-hole for him, never eliciting a single "love that guy" type of feeling from me. He offers no apologies and is granted no forgiveness.

Lake is the object of Keiran's unhealthy obsession. She endures his cruel taunts without making any attempt to defend herself. In fact she revels in his attention and finds that she has a masochistic hunger for the pain he inflicts. I can't say that I really understood the appeal for Lake, but "different strokes for different folks" and all that jazz. Whatever floats her boat.

Forget about giggly girls and prom dates, these "kids" we're like twenty-somethings that were just dropped off at a high school. They lived seemingly independent of adult guardians and went unchallenged by teachers, etc. I think it would have been much more believable if the characters were a bit older, like college-aged.

Although it was pretty far-fetched, I enjoyed every minute! This story kept me guessing. There were some predictable elements in the storyline, but the relationship dynamics were fascinating. Not only were Keiran and Lake a ticking time bomb, but each of the friends' relationships were equally dysfunctional. It was like watching a bad train wreck. I just couldn't look away!

So, I'm on to the second book now. I'm hoping that the author keeps it as interesting as this one!

THIS IS A SPOILER-FILLED REVIEW.

I have so many problems with this book I don't even know where to start. My patience was hanging by a thread halfway through reading this. This book dragged and dragged and at one point I just skimmed through to get to the good parts -- it was that bad. (I fell asleep numerous times) It was the same shit in every chapter: Lake getting pushed over, Kieran being an asshole abusive piece of shit and Lake letting him. It was exhausting.

Lake was okay at first. We were first shown to her gutsy eight year old self but then she was gone. GONE. She became a pushover with no backbone whatsoever and all I wanted to do was shake some senses into her. At first I was willing to give her a chance since I saw how Kieran's torments and manipulations ran deep but get this: at some point in the book, they both decided on a truce and she fucking agreed to be friends! Just like that! After what he's done to her? He didn't even say sorry.

He was downright abusive to her. He threatened her aunt's life, raped her, forced her to part ways with her best friend, had guards on standby for her and he basically controlled every aspects of her life, in the name of revenge. Sounds very Christan Grey-ish ain't it? Kieran Masters is an abusive bitch and no amount of explanation can convince me otherwise, thank you very much.

Lake was a spineless girl, I kept waiting for her to stand up for herself, but alas it never happened. She let herself being pushed and used for sex. There were times where she could've stand up for herself, but she didn't. I hope she grows a pair in the next book because I just.. can't.

Both the hero and heroine weren't the only problem, the people around them were problematic too. For instance, there's this one scene in the book where Kieran handcuffed Lake to a chair (correct me if i'm wrong) and her friend was like, "Ugh he's such a jerk!" and that's it. She didn't even help her. I was baffled.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna read the next book but we'll see.

*takes a deep breath*

Let me begin with the positive things here. What did I like?

Silence. Crickets are chirping in near distance. The wind is whistling. Hay bales are rolling around.

Okay, my brain is drawing blank. Moving on.

Please take a good look at the 'Fear Me' Cover and tell me it wasn't copied from the one and only Kermit the King who did it first. If I could, I would insert a poll on who did it better, but I mean is there really a competition? 😌

Now that we got the most important thing covered, let's get to the lovely content of this book.

The two amazing protagonists are Keiran Masters (H) aka the guy who's going to star in your next nightmare and Lake Monroe (h) aka the next doormat gracing the front of your house.

HOW THE HERO ABUSED THE HEROINE A SAGA:
1. Keiran pushed Lake off the monkey bars when she was 7, when she tried to help her friend's brother. Because of that she had been unconscious for two days and suffered a broken arm.

2. The H went on to bully the h for the next 10 years.

3. Keiran went away for a year because he was framed for a crime. When Lake heard that he will come back to school for senior year, she fainted. SHE FAINTED GUYS. She was so afraid of him that just the thought of him coming back is making her that sick. If that is soulmate, no wonder the rest of us is hopeless.
“I’m going to do it one day, you know,” he prompted in a hateful tone. “Do what?” I asked shakily. His fists balled as he stared down at me with angry eyes. I suddenly got the feeling that I needed to get away, so I started to back away from him. I scooted across the floor while he followed after me. “I’m going to kill you. Just like I killed her. It’s the only way.”
4. Keiran threatens to kill her a dozens of times. Isn't that just romantic?

5. Our homeboy breaks into Lake's house and reads her notebook aka her diaries with all her secrets. When she confronted him about it, you know what his answer is? That everything that belongs to her, belongs to him, cause she is his property. And bc most of these notebook entries are about him anyway it's not a breach of freedom. Most of the times he takes Lake's phone away and goes through her text, but no problem it's not like it's an invasion to her privacy. Just bully things you know.
I ignored him and tried once again to help Willow, but when he applied pressure to my neck, I started to see spots.
6. Lake's aunt, who she lives with, is abroad for a couple of weeks and Keiran has her followed. Every time he wants something from Lake, he threatens to kill her aunt if she doesn't behave. Therefore Keiran constantly abused her mentally, emotionally and physically whenever the mood strikes. What a great guy to introduce to your family 🤩
But I did recognize shame. Shame that I wanted to taste him even though he only wanted to degrade me. “Okay, I’ll do it, but please be gent—” My words were lost when he plunged his cock into my mouth without warning.

“Please, you’re scaring me.” “You should be scared because when I’m done with you, there will be nothing left for you to hold on to. I’ll make sure of that. Now take off… the fucking… dress.”

He was already standing at the foot of my bed, watching me as he lifted his shirt from his chest and dropped it on the floor. “Wait! I’m not ready.” “Tough shit, Monroe. You had a year to get ready.”
7. See point (6) when Keiran rapes her, but apparently her body wanted it. Another case of body-betrayal-syndrom. Lake can say whatever she wants, but it was rape to me. She didn't want it. She wasn't ready. He didn't give her a choice except "I'll fuck you" or "I'll kill your aunt"
It felt as if the loud cry I released came straight from my soul when he slammed into me. Shock and pain took over my body as he took my virginity. I clutched his shoulders and tried to push him away, but he seized my wrists in his fists and locked them against the mattress.
8. DO YOU SEE THIS SHIT?? DO YOU? WHAT THE FUCK? Lake tried to push Keiran away, but he didn't let her. How can you write this and sell it off as romance? THE HELL.

9. I don't know how many times Keiran manhandled Lake or just decided what she should do like quitting her job for her.
He proceeded to spank me with hard, unyielding hits across my bottom. He didn’t stop. No matter how long or loud I screamed and begged—he wouldn’t stop.

“No. You need to hear this. I knew about it only because—” He was out of his seat with his arms around me, crushing my body to his. I cried out when he bit down into my neck. I screamed again, but he ignored my heated protests and bit down harder. He bent me over the kitchen table and pushed aside my panties.
10. These characters don't need to go to school. What they need is a trip to an asylum. LIKE NOW. Why is this guy not behind bars?

The main reason why Keiran wanted to break Lake was because he thought she framed him and put him into jail that one year he went away. When it was clear that it wasn't Lake, that's what Keiran's "apology" looks like:

“Last night, I thought about you and about this thing between us that I have kept alive for ten years. It was fucked up, but it was the only way because I hated you. That part was real.”

“Don’t be such a bitch.” “I have every right to be! Or did you forget?” I didn’t care if I sounded like a shrew. How dare he call me a bitch after the hell he had put me through? “I didn’t forget. You remind me every chance you get. Can’t you let that go?”

Uhm...dude. you're telling me that you abused, raped, completely destroyed her, putting her through hell .. she's just suppose TO LET IT GO? what a waste of space. GARBAGE GARBAGE GARABAGE.

His explanation why he acted the way he did, did not make any sense. I literally do. not. give. a. single. fuck. that Keiran was sold as a child because his piece of shit of father had gambling debts. Does Keiran have a shitty past? Yes. Was he sold to some crime organisation that teach children to be some kind of assassins? Yes. Is that a reason to rape and treat the girl "you love" like that? NO.

this book stole about 20 years of my life. writing this review stole another 10 years, but the worst thing is that I'm curious about the third book (Fear Us) in this series. The H of that book is Keenan, Keiran's cousin or as we find out his brother and he is in a relationship with Sheldon, but keeps on cheating on her for years. By the way Sheldon is the heroine of Fear Us. NOW I'M CURIOUS WHY A SELF RESPECTED WOMAN WOULD DO THAT TO HERSELF. I JUST WANT TO KNOW. (cuz my mind is sick, watch me read that book 🤦‍♀️)

THIS BOOK MAY CONTAIN TRIGGERS FOR SOME

Remember, this is only my opinion ... and it won't be a full review.

Awful. Not sure what the purpose of this little number was, but it missed its' mark with this reader. I got to the 30% mark [my review limit] and just couldn't put myself through any more of it. Nope.

God help us if a young girl has to go through bullying like this in school that continues for 10 or more years. Bullying to such an extent that she faints when she finds out her tormenter is returning to school after a year away. Seriously?

This is supposed to be a romance about this relationship. How can that even happen? Her whole childhood this guy tormented her. Not simple little things, but real psycho shit. Really?

I'm sure some will see beyond this surface and fall into line and enjoy the story to be had, but I just think a relationship such as this should never be encouraged -- even if it is fiction. Too many times, bad fiction becomes reality for some and I'm not going to play into it.

If you are happy reading this one, you deserve a medal! Because, what I was able to read just pissed me off ...

I love dark and gritty books but this book definitely wasn't for me. I understand that it's fiction and not everything has to be realistic, but come on. The story seems completely unbelievable and ridiculous to me.The heroine is too stupid to live. The only thing this book made me do was roll my eyes A LOT.

***5+++++ ^ADDICTIVE^ stars for Keiran & Lake***

OMG!!! Oh my dear God!!! What was that book???
I'm just finished it and i really don't know what to do!!!

I want to cry, i want to pull my hair out of my sculp, i want to break something, i want to crawl in my bed and curl in a small ball...
I feel angry, depressed, disappointed and sooooo.... sad right now!!!

I wanted a better ending!!! More promising... Only darkness left behind and i have a big ache inside my chest!!!

Phew!!! I really don't know what to say about this book!!!
I know that some of you loved it and some of you didn't like it at all...
I belong to the first category...
I don't know why but it had a really long time to get into me so much a book!!!

The story was dark, intense, addictive and i couldn't put it down!!!
You could say that it was an ordinary story, but as you are reading it, you can see that it is far from ordinary.

The characters got into me in a deeply level, all of them, but especially Keiran and Lake...
I really want to say so much about this book, but at the same time i don't want to say anything!!!

I think that this story became a tattoo in my heart and my mind...

Well, Lake was a girl that she was bullying in a way, not physical but verbally and after an incident on school, her tormentor got in juvie and she was starting to make small steps to live again without him around to overshadow her.
But everything are changing when Keiran returns and he demands her absolute fear and submission to him.

"“I’ve watched you and I’ve studied you,” he began again, breathing deeply. “I memorized you. I know what makes you hurt… I know what makes you sad… I know what makes you cry. But all your deepest fears, I will know. I’ll take your so-called strengths and I’ll make them your weaknesses.”
If Keiran scared me before, he terrified me now, I admitted with a tear burning a hot trail down my face.
“I’ve got a whole year with you,” he stated... “I’m going to break you. But most importantly, I’m going to make you pay.”

For ten years, Keiran was bullying her because he hated her for unknown reasons but now he returned more wild than ever and that's because he thinks that she ratted him out and that's why he went behind the bars...

Yeah, i know what you will say!!! Why she had to do what he asked her to do???
Because she feared him...
He bound her with threats that it wasn't possible to not take it seriously!!!

“If you had even the smallest idea of all the things I’m going to fucking do to you, you would run and run fast...
But then… I wouldn't let you get far.”

So, now it is starting a game of the mouse and the cat... Keiran demands and Lake had to obbey and all of them will lead to the ultimate prize.
Keiran wants Lake completely his in every way, if you know what i mean!!!

I won't say much about that, i will only say that some of the things that he forced her to do were a little bit rough and humiliating, but she did them. Yep, she was trying to resist but usually at the end, Keiran was the winner of the situation!!!

"I embraced the madness he was creating inside me as I fought not to touch him. In the deep recesses of my mind and conscious I was mortified at how I came apart so easily. I was letting him win. But worse than that, I was letting him know I liked it.
"I’m going to enjoy stealing away what you cherish most and making you love it while I do". I heard his words in my head from the other night. He kept his word as he was known to do. I did love it.”

I know, you probably wondering why the hell i loved that book so much with all these shits that were happening in there???
And you have to believe me that i haven't reveal you nothing at all!!!
But i loved all this darkness because i saw something beyond the surface of the main characters. I saw a depth in there...

Keiran was a very perplexing character. He was appeared as a cold, manipulating and very dangerous bastard. And he was, don't fool yourself!!! And he was much more than that... He was a dominant, controlling and very possessive man!!! But underneath all this ugly levels, there were more!!!

He hated so much Lake and he demanded her fear, but i think that he hated himself and he demanded fear because he was the one who was afraid of her and what she could do to him. She could make him feel!! And that's why he was once hot and once cold with her!!!
Under all this madness, i think that there were intense and fiercy feelings, even though that he was refusing to acknowledge them!!!
He was trying to use her but always underlying a hidden sentiment toward Lake.

"“You messed up when you let me near you. You messed up when you let me touch you. But you fucked up when you let me have you.”
“I didn’t have a choice!”
“I decided the first time you let me in between your sweet thighs that guilty or not, you were mine. I’m done denying myself what I want. You want me just as bad.”

As for Lake, many times i was wondering why she was not fighting back and why she was scared of his empty threats, but maybe she knew better that these threats weren't empty at all!!! I think that all her life she was afraid of him, but at the same time she was having tender feelings too!!! And that is so fucked up, but also so true!!!

"As backwards as it was, his nightly visits were the only time I didn’t feel alone. I also felt like the dumbest girl in the world because no matter how much he turned my world upside down, my body always welcomed him. Every time he touched me he took without giving anything in return. Sometimes I cried after we had sex but it wasn’t from physical pain. It was the suffocating feeling of hopelessness. Keiran had succeeded in making me his prisoner.

Keiran and Lake together had an intense and unique chemistry... They were so wrong for each other, but at the same time so right... Their relationship (if we can call it that!) was agressive and so messed up... They were fighting and they were fucking with a way that turned you on!!!

I liked Keiran when he turned a little bit softer and that made me realize that behind the surface were lying many secrets and many deep feelings, but he denied to himself the happiness and he continue to fight over himself and Lake.

"I liked his kisses and his taste far too much. I shouldn’t like them at all but that didn’t keep me from standing on my toes so that I could reach more of him. He groaned and pulled me closer, pressing his erection hard against my stomach. I’d forgotten that he was angry with me. We didn’t feel like enemies right now. We felt like lovers."

You're probably wondering why i'm talking mostly for the monster, bully, tormentor, whatever you want to call Keiran, but i'm doing it because i really loved that guy!!!
I don't know why, but...

From the first moment, i knew that he will become my best book boyfriend... EVER!!!
I want to apologize to the rest of my book boyfriends for the betrayal, but sue me, if you want!!! I don't regret it!!!

I also want to tell you that i loved all the second characters, but i will talk to you about them in their own books!!!

This was a young adult book surrounded by much darkness... It was rough around the edges and it had a lot of aggressive sex scenes, so if this was not your style, you don't have to read it!!!

I will admit that i was afraid of this book too, but i don't think that it was too dark!!! I have read worst, but it's not your typical young adult book!!!

That's all for me!!!
And now, i really have to go to start the next book because the end in this one is killing me... The most fucked-up ending!!!

So, i need something to change it!!!

I loved this book!
This unbelievable out of the blue ending!
... When the dark story about school abuse becames an even darker story about

Keiran is NOT your normal schoolboy:

“I don’t think you would have gone far.”
“Why?”
“I wouldn’t have let you. I know that now.”
“That doesn’t make sense.”
“It isn’t meant to make sense, Lake. It just is.”
“You realize what you are saying isn’t normal?”
“It’s how I feel. Fuck normal.”

Lake is NOT your normal schoolgirl:

“Why do you talk to me like that?” I asked instead.
“Like what?”
“Like I’m a slut.”
“Because it makes you angry and it also makes you hot. Slut, or not.”
“But I’m not. You were the only one I had sex with.”
The sound he made low in his throat was angry. “Good, because if you have it with anyone else I will kill him…slowly…and then you.” His voice was unmistakably aroused and possessive.
“You can’t just threaten to kill people!”
“It’s not a threat.”
“Normal teenagers don’t threaten to kill people and mean it.”
“Who said I was normal?”
“I know you’re not.” I just wish you were.

Keiran and Lake do NOT have a normal relationship:

“You messed up when you let me near you. You messed up when you let me touch you. But you fucked up when you let me have you.”

And of course Keiran and Lake do NOT have normal schoolfriends:

“What is up with them anyway? They are so hypocritical and bossy. It’s always ‘do what I say’, ’now’, ‘no’, ‘mine’. “Me Tarzan, you Jane. Now bend over!”
“Don’t forget the grunting and growling,” Sheldon added.
“I keep expecting to be dragged off to a cave or something.”

Okay, I have to admit that I am a drama junkie... And I don't feel ashamed to admit it :)

And I am starting next book NOW

TITLE: Fear Me
SERIES: (Broken Love #1)
AUTHOR: B.B.Reid
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: January 27th, 2015
MY RATING: ★★★★★

5 TALL, DARK AND SINISTER STARS

I read a review on here that mentioned that this book was similar to Bully by Penelope Ward, which is totally spot on, but is darker, more twisted and has more twists and turns than a roller coaster..

REVENGE AT IT'S DARKEST

I am the monster you would hide under your covers from as a kid

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

NON STOP BULLYING

I've allowed Kieran to torment me over the years, but I promised myself that I would never allow him to touch me or physically hurt me *bangs head on desk*

IN THE SHADOWS HE'S WATCHED

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've watched you, and I've studied you, I've memorized you. I know what makes you hurt, I know what makes you sad, I know what makes you cry, But all your deepest fears, I will know. I'll take your so called strengths and I'll make them your weaknesses ~ FEAR ME

OBSESSION AND POSSESSION

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So much drama, so much angst, so many scorching hot scenes, so many times I wanted to throttle the leading female character and so many times I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for that next twist to hit me!! And that's what I loved with this book, expect the unexpected, expect to hate the alpha male over the top obsessive behaviour and like the sick puppy I am expect to make him yours by the end of this book!!

A MASTER OF MANIPULATION

You're mine, Monroe. You will always be mine and I won't let you go. You messed up when you let me near you. You messed up when you let me touch you. But you f*cked up when you let me have you.

LIES ARE TOLD, SECRETS UNFOLD

FRAMED ~ I have a score to settle and it directly involves you and only you.

A GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE

A THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE

I'm going to break you, but most importantly, I'm going to make you pay. I hate you Monroe

I am the guy whose freedom you stole ~ FEAR ME

Due to the way this ended I know the next book is going to be epic!!

For the first part of this book (more like the first half) I oscillated between feeling disgusted and wanting to delete it and (sometimes) being turned on and enjoying their sexual encounters field with dubious consent...I felt like I was CRAZY because I shouldn't be likening it...not at all!!!

description

I was also very frustrated with how weak the main female character (Lake) was. She was letting him do whatever he wanted and I get lust and I get pleasure but what I really don't get it stupidity and sometimes she acted really stupid. While reading I was ready to...

description

But then I got it!!! Lake is the definition of a masochist and Keiran is the perfect sadist. If you look up the definitions of masochist and sadist in the dictionary Lake's and Keiran's names are there. He blackmailed her into doing whatever he wanted and she just let him when there where many things she could have done.

But I have to handed to the author because despite the short lackings of the characters some of their sexual encounters where really hot and made me feel so dirty for likening them. For example when Keiran Men that was one hot scene :P

description

Or another scene when Keiran is I felt really dirty for liking this...really dirty...

description

The second half of this book is better because secrets start to unravel and we get to find out why Keiran is the way he is and let me tell you...I did not see it coming.

If you're expecting a HEA then you're reading the wrong book because this one ends with a cliffhanger. The main characters and more secrets are revealed and more questions need answers.

This book leaves you on edge and waiting for the next one in the Broken Love series witch is scheduled to come out in April. So if you don't do well with unfinished business you might want to wait for the next one and then read them together.

description

If you would have asked me in to beginning of this book how many starts I would award it I would have said 3 but what happened in the second half overrode all the frustrations that the first part brought and made it worth my time.

So a standing ovation to the author for the emotional roller coaster that she put me through and for getting me to look forward to her next book :D

2 REALLY Fear Him Stars

There are qualities in this book I liked and there are a lot of qualities in this book I didn’t like. Most of them are based on my reading preferences.

Many times I felt like I should have DNF this book, but I kept on reading because I was really interested in what will happen. This is a meaty book, meaning it is super long. At one point I thought the author put two books in one. I believe 30% of the book could have been edited out.

My issues with this book are the writing style, the Hero and the angst. First off, angst is something I do not do well, so like I said that is my reading preference, if you are an angst junkie, then you will LOVE this book.

The writing style

The writing style is fairly repetitive and maybe that is why the book is so long. Over and over again it’s the same cycle. The hero would do something brash the heroine would call him out on it. The hero would fight back, the Heroine would ask why, he will said, why not? It’s a lot of questions. I felt like every conversation led up to a question. “Why did you do this?” and a response, “Why wouldn’t I do this?” Seriously?! Just answer the question.

The Plot

I understand the Hero is painted dark, with a dark past and a lot of issues, believe me, this isn’t my first tortured hero book, but what bugs me is when I’m being told that a hero is dark. I don’t need an eighteen year old telling me he’s a killer. In my opinion its sexier when I actually see the act

The Heroine and the Hero

I didn’t like the Heroine. I found her very weak, very silly and unrealistic (okay the book is unrealistic, but I do question her actions at times). The hero would do something REALLY bad and really mean, but she’s willing to just take off her dress? What?! I don’t get it. I didn’t understand what she saw in him and his threats towards her seem so childish and empty. There was no back up to the Hero’s game. There is nothing redeeming about the hero. I kept on reading trying to find a glimpse of something… that would get me attached to him and I came out with nothing.

And I think the Hero I couldn't really get past that, oh and the
Unrealistic high school time frame

I felt like the characters should have been in their twenties. I love the high school setting, but once you read the Hero’s past, I kind of wanted to say, really?! He experienced all of that and he’s only 18? I also didn’t understand why he could do so many bad things to this girl and no one says anything! No teachers see it, where are the parents? The friends just laugh? What?

Discovering the truths

The book is a series, so it continues on to book 2, but you do get some questions answered. When I finally got to the part of all the discoveries I was scratching my head like…. REALLY?! That’s what I spent hours of reading and finally we get that?!

I feel like this author has a lot of potential and I picked up this book because I read I got a re-edited version. I have to say I am slightly disappointed this is the edited version. There are a lot of good parts about this book, it just needs some tweaking. I am not sure if I will continue with the series because Fear me was really frustrating to read, but you never know. I like to get to the ending of a story.

Had to DNF this at 40% in. I could not stand behind the hero blackmailing our character and forcing her do to things out of fear. Nothing about that is consensual in my eyes and I didn’t want to keep reading.

I very rarely do re-reads and much less one month after having read it the first time. However, Kieran is not your typical hero and I needed to experience him again.

This story is in its own category. Our hero, anti-hero really, invites genuine fear in our heroine and with good reason. He takes control to the next level. So much so that in the thousands of books that I’ve read, I’ve yet to find his equal in the matter. I know that a relationship like this in real life would definitely have some glaring red flags but I couldn’t put the book down. I needed to get through the layers. What I found was a powerful story where things aren’t what they seemed to be at first. I love the range of emotions that I felt even if a good portion of the time it was anger, sadness and disbelief.

Lake was amazing. She was a strong heroine to me but not in the obvious ways. What others may see as a weakness, I admired because she didn’t let her situation break her. She got through to Kieran in ways that nobody had before and the process and result was absolutely compelling.

These two together were raw fire. The intimacy was fantastic even as most of it was not sweet at all. The little details made a huge difference.

The secondary characters were unique, dynamic, and very interesting. They were used to move the story forward very well.

The setting to me was a bit unrealistic (high school) and it felt definitely more mature than teenagers. The intimidation in the adults in their lives was also a bit of a stretch but it sure as heck didn’t stop me from immersing myself in the book. The writing was well done. Great pacing.

Safety: Comfort level? What comfort level? This will push your boundaries. Wait.. “push” is not quite the word. “Break” is the right word. This is not a safe read. At all. There is abuse, depending on your interpretation, in most if not all ways. I’ll be glad to answer your questions via message but I will say that I’m really glad I read this book and the rest in the series.

Good god, what the ever loving hell have I just read??

A cruel, abusive, controlling, manipulative, perverted, bullying, arsehole does NOT an alpha make. A true alpha male protects his woman, he does not debase and annihilate her the way this revolting specimen did .... for TEN YEARS (and got away with it to the point of even the teachers being scared of this little tool), so where the alpha tag came from I have no idea. Add to this a heroine who is such a doormat and TSTL and you have a match made in heaven .... not!!

This story should have been done in one book because apart from the relentless bullying and then unbelievably banging their brains out like Energiser Bunnies ad nauseum then rinse and repeat, until the last few very brief chapters nothing else happened.

To make matters worse the writing is all over the place, plot lines that are only half explained, new characters just dropped in and the story in parts is just so way beyond the ridiculous it made my head hurt. In what world is an eight year old - yeah that was another of the ridiculous plot lines that just. Did. Not. Work.

3 "I'm really struggling here not to give any less" stars

This was a mash up of several genres and it was all so "buffed" at times that it felt suffocating.

Now, the subject referring here is bullying, but it's actually not...

the characters are annoying, especially the guuurls, and f*ck am I sorry to say that cause I hate to drag my gender in the mud, but it is what it is!

so our heroine suffers or better yet endures the hurtful verbal and physical bullying from our anti-hero.

Kieran Masters who is he?
“I’m a hopeless fuck who is obsessed with a girl he still wants to hurt.”

but I really didn't fall for that...cause I didn't "feel" it, I didn't "feel" her fear of her tormentor, not even a nip...zip, zero, nule...nada...

what I felt was lust, all the way! so, you see, you can't really yell molesting or bullying if you are actually attracted to the guy and liking it...
(and there were some pretty heavy sex scenes that even the porn industry would buy the rights for that)

well, make no mistake about our anti-hero, he's a cold and cruel mother f*cker, but he's also hot...hahah,

no really, kiddin' aside, he had NO childhood and his past is horrible and yet unfortunately I didn't "feel" the "awwww" sentiment for him...

I saw him as a selfish, little prick...who got what he wanted, when he wanted and nobody seemed to mind the way he got it ...so, f*ck it.

I say, If you can't beat them, join them...

and after the first annoyance I got over our heroine there...I actually understood...she joined it...she could not win (otherwise, she would've said NO, she would have taken some serious action to stop him BUT then we wouldn't have this story, right?)

NO, she actually didn't WANT to win, for her own sake she gave hersef to the guy in what ever way he wanted her, and he took her, she didn't faught against it although it didn't FEEL RIGHT, but f*ck, it FELT GOOD, so what the hell...

(no bullying there, only domineering, and well, we all like to be handled in some way or another LOL)

and my point is quite wasted here...so, I should just stick to the "feeling" I got after reading this....

and that is "I'm tired!"

this whole story could've been presented differently in pace, in lines, in common sense, I keep forgetting they are 18 years old and sometimes they act like they are much older in one moment, then in another they act even more immature than a teen would behave...

hack, I guess this book came to me in the wrong time...obviousely...

but over all, it all really comes down to this line
“They say there is a thin line between love and hate. Do you know what that means?”

“No.”

“It means that two people are too dumb and too blind to know the difference.”

and that's all I have to say about this folks, I'm not sure I'm gonna read the second book...maybe, if she grows a backbone, well, good for her but a bit tad too late for me...

4 " I will be damned, that was good! " stars

Sooooooooo.. at first I wasn't so sure that this book is working for me! I was beyond confused about a lot of things and I was a little frustrated with the MCs! I was thinking about put it down because I was in a little shock of what people are capable of.. and not just people but teenagers ! And their, umm.. sexual encounters were.. WOW !

Many of my friends told me what this books was a little like Bully but 20 times darker ... well let's say it's 40 times DARKER !
However I didn't expect to enjoyed it so much! After I started to understand more, both, hero and the heroine this books became addictive and I couldn't put it down!

The story of Keiran & Lake is different, full of emotions, passion, anger, sadness and..... LOVE ! Yup, that's shocking when you are starting the book and what you read is not very pretty! Both are broken and lost and these emotions made them do things that they aren't realllyyy proud of! There were times when I was thinking what the hell was happening and why they are the way they were ...

But then things get more intense , secrets got unraveld and I was impressed how the author's writing captivated me!
There comes the action and badass alpha men and I was like:

Keiran was cruel, bad, vindictive and... broken ! I really hate some desicions he made but I have to admit he was SEXY AS HELL too! For a 18 years old boy he knew how to handle a girl, handcuffed her, make her hottttt and yeah, made her want to stangle him !
He was aaaa lot more domeneering that many other heroes I've read about, and his age did a number on me because I am 18 too and I can't believe how evil people can be and change a young man like him so much.. my heart broke for him . He was dark, broody and sexy , likeble combination right?!
Oh and let's not forget.. HE IS POSESSIVE!

“No one touches you. Do you understand?”

I had a fewwww problmes with Lake but I liked that she changed so much! She became stonger and her fierceness was on point! She tried to undertand her mixed feelings but when it comes to Keiran everything is chaotic! She gave him what he wanted but it's wasn't enough for both of them!
Desire, lust, passion.. all package of smexy scenessss!

Conclusions after the first book:
- They both are sort of.. masochists !
- The side characters are funny, sexy and intriguing!
- I discover what means to be Dickdizzy by Keiran Masters !
- Mitch is pissing me off and I want to cut something off of him!
- I was in a rollercoaster of emotions but I liked it!
Confessions:
- I couldn't put it down and when the book ended I started the next one immediately and I didn't stop reading ALL DAY AT WORK !
- Now I am going to write my review for the next book!

i would have given this book more stars if it didnt drag , was more original this seemed Like Bully , Dark Duet and Raze had a messy threesom wasnt soap opera like with the ending , didnt have a cliff and made more sence full review later BR with the lovely Andrea thank you for being pationed with my turtle like pace of reading, Warning Mayor Spoilers in my review, this book is suposed to be dark but the only dark part was the ending when we learn heroes past and instead of mature Ya erotica it turnes in to an action thriller i found the heroes past unrealistic and think he wasnt messed up enough for a boy who killed people from the age of 6 i also find it unbeleiveble that a boy at 6-8 years old can be such a badass cold hearted hero and than become an almost normal school student yes he had control issues and scared the shit out of evryone but he was popular had good grades and was captain of a sports Team and all with out sirius psychological help he would have killed evryone in real life. Since i didnt feel that Kearan would actually kill her aunt since despite his asshatery i felt he loved her from the begining Lake seemed even more doormat shaking and doing whatever he says with out triying to change her situation ,she did however become strong in the second half of the book and actually handed his arse to Authorities eventually for killing two people horribly which love struck heroines hardly ever do, this is one of the books where secondery romances are almost as much in the forefront as the main couples but both hero, his cousin/brother and BFF are huge manwhores and keep cheating on there wouman even during reletionships Kearan is the most faithful out of them but he still touched a girls arse in front of heroin when they were already in a two month reletionship i felt this book was suposed to be more romance than dark so that made me annoyed somewhat, i give the Author aplause for a cute pet Pepe his behaviur was more than cute and he reminded me of my girl Lora.Ok im in Coultiral shock right just learned BB.Reid is only 22 like me im in awe with Authors like BB.Reid,JJ Macevoy and Veronica Roth who right Besstsselers and popular books in there twenties just makes me realise i need to get a job Lol

I gave it a good shot, but to be perfectly honest I'm finding it a bit unbelievable that an 18 year old holds this much power over everybody in the whole town. Plus he's an arsehole for forcing the heroine, who he humiliates on a daily basis to

I do love a dark hero, and dubious consent doesn't always bother me, but in this case I think I'll pass. If it were a standalone I may have continued but nah, I'm bailing.

Fear Me NOT! There are so many reasons I don’t like this book. I really don’t know where to start. First of all, what bothers me most is that the plot seems unrealistic, not believable at all. For example, no parents are ever present. Also, all characters are students but we don’t see them ever study, worry about grades/exams or follow a realistic everyday schedule. They just have breakfast, go to school and worry about sex issues all day long. This book also looks pseudo-dark. What I mean by that is that the author’s intention to write a dark romance is obvious. The result, however, is an exaggerating drama, and a story with silly dialogues, improbable details and shallow characters. I’m definitely not gonna read the next book.

Title: ➳ Fear Me
Series ➳Broken Love Series 1#
Author: ➳ B.B. Reid
Published February 14th 2015

This book & series was recommended to me by a friend. So that means I just found new author

Lord if you know me.. You know, I love my dark reads, but to be totally honest here, I’ve never had a dark read that the character started at such a young age

I must say this definitely isn't your everyday high school romance. I am still trying to figure out my thoughts on this one… I believe this one falls into my WTF Category… that doesn’t mean it was a bad book in any sense ..

This book been out for sometime & there are plenty reviews on it, so no need me telling you every detail of the book

if you are looking for A cruel, abusive, controlling, manipulative, perverted, bullying, arsehole Keiran Masters is the man for you

Kieran started his tormented at the young age of 8 years ago. He torments Lake Monroe for 10yrs
Not once did Lake Monroe tell anyone.

A year ago Lake Monroe started to somewhat learn to come out of her shell, but that’s only cuz Keiran was thought to be framed by her & in jail

Now that Keiran was out of jail he was really going take more pleasure out of tormenting Lake Monroe
All I going say is that things got somewhat interesting

📚 This book had its good & bad moments as due all books. I am going to read the next book in this series just to know what happen to these two characters & from there I’ll decide if I wanna continue on to Keenan & Sheldon book

I only had one problem with this book & it relates timeline issues

📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review 💕

4.5 Stars!

I read the prologue and I knew without a doubt I was going to love this book. I immediately started rubbing my hands together with a evil grin on my face.

There was a lingering question before I started this book. Was this dark, was this going to be twisted? The title led me to believe that, so I had to stalk the author, find out details, I need to know these things. If you tell me your book is dark, then it better be. Anyway, she was completely honest and told me she didn't know what to label her book. This being a new author, I didn't know what to expect. Well, she threw the book at me, and told me to be the judge. Challenge accepted. I went in with an open mind.

My final answer is Dark Romantic Suspense. I'm using romantic loosely here. There's isn't a real clear answer, I see why she struggled with labeling the book. The book needs a warning, that in itself is dark. Vanilla readers might have a hard time swallowing, dark readers may call this light in some ways. I call it a perfect balance and I loved every bit.

Warning, Book contains: Murder, Bullying, Mystery, Suspense, Coerced Non-Con, Alpha-Possessive Male Anti-Hero, and A Weak Frustrating Heroine.

There once was a little girl named Lake, who tried to save a boy on the monkey bars. There once was a boy named Keiran that told her not to. She didn't listen... The boy pushed her off the monkey bars and the rest is history as they always say. For ten years she lives in fear of this boy, her bully, her enemy. Until he was sent away thinking she was the one that set him up. Revenge is the only thing on his mind when he returns, and Lake is the target. But she was always his target, it just got worse.

I have to say I was hooked from the start. The monkey bar scene totally shocked me, something I did not expect. Why is this boy targeting this little girl? You can feel his need for control through the pages, and THIS IS A LITTLE BOY. I'm thinking, this is going to be good, there's no way I'm stopping now.

The book skips ahead ten years, both of them in high school. Lake lives with her aunt, her parents disappeared. Keiran lives with his uncle, and his parent aren't anywhere to found. I was instantly intrigued.

Are the disappearances some how connected? Is that why he's angry? Why would he torment her for years for no reason. I'm telling you, it's a real mystery. The book takes place within high school... But the story is not even close to being YA, the content is not your average bullying either. I was pleasantly surprised, this is whole other level of stalking here folks. THIS book has a vibe of Bully by Penelope Douglas, which is a favorite of mine. Except Keiran is 100 times worse. There's no right or wrong with him, he does what he wants without remorse. He's a bit terrifying I have to say. This is where the line crosses, I'm not sure vanilla readers are going to enjoy this bully. OF course I did, the meaner the better. He's cruel, his hostility bleeds from the pages.

"I’ve watched you and I’ve studied you,” he began again, breathing deeply. “I memorized you. I know what makes you hurt …I know what makes you sad… I know what makes you cry. But all your deepest fears, I will know. I’ll take your so-called strengths and I’ll make them your weaknesses."

The Middle - 4 Stars.

While Keiran makes Lake's life a miserable HELL, taking control of every aspect, black mailing her into submission... She just takes it, not fighting back, nothing. I was so frustrated beyond belief. Grow a back bone, go to the police, do something for fucks SAKE. She is weak, led my fear. I'm just warning you, she's going to make you want to pull your hair out. But then again, I wholeheartedly believe I would let Keiran do whatever he wanted to me too. Maybe.

"How about if I wrap this around your neck and strangle the fuck out of you?” I jumped from the bed, forgetting about my naked state and the words were spewing out of my mouth before I even knew what I was going to say. “Go ahead and do it! You’ve been threatening to kill me since we were kids!"

You have to like dark heroes to understand where I'm coming from.

The End - 5 Stars.

Woah Woah Woah. Say what?!?! Some of the mystery from Keiran's past come to back with a vengeance. This is where the story turns a bit more dark, we find out bits and pieces of why Keiran is damaged, some clues to what happened to Lake's parents, and whole lot of secrets are revealed. Lake finally grows some balls and does something that knocked me on my butt. After all the complaining I did about her being weak, I was SHOCKED. BRILLIANT MOVE!

I'm anxious to see where this story will go, it's not over by a long shot. I'd like a book for Dash. (Hint) This is the first book in the series, be prepared.

I'm going to stop now because I could go on and on. Sheesh my review is a frecking book, but before I go...

My dark friends you are going to love this book. My vanilla friends, read my review and decided for yourself.

BB Reid you now have a new stalker, oops I meant fan! :)
