'TRAGIC LIES' Is the second full length romance book in L.A. Cotton's 'Rixon High' series. It picks up where the previous book left off. This is Peyton and Xander's story.

Ever since the ending of the previous book this was one book I've been highly anticipating, characters which I couldn't wait to read more about.

Xander ➳ Nearly 30, floundering in misery and despair, with no life goals.

Peyton ➳ Nearly 18, lives with her best friends family, and is all alone in the world with no family to call her own, she's lived a life that has aged her, a life no one her age should have to go through.

These two are stuck in a heavy cloud of despair, their souls recognised the pain in the other so they gravitated towards each other. Their story had that forbidden aspect to it due to Xander working at Peyton's school.

I am behind my reading target. I have so many things going on in my life right now. I try my best to read 1 book a day at least.

So here we go...
Tragic Lies, like the other previous books in this series, only good and addiciting on the first half of the book. Then it slide donward very fast.
So my review for Tragic Lies is the same with other books.

I wish Miss Cotton put more effort on her work.

“After all,I’d accepted a long time ago that there was no happy ending for my story”

JUST WOW!

Peyton and Xander story was definitely something else.

I don’t even know how to describe it.

I feel like I’ve been through a storm and somehow I survived to tell what happend.

My emotions are all around the place , it was one of the most suffering , unique and magical ride ever!

Peyton and Xander are two very complex and similar characters .

“I’d never met someone like me before.Someone plagued by dark thoughts and enough emotional trauma to sink a ship”

They have been through some really dark moments and somehow they survived .

They are just two broken souls searching for their place in this world who has only given them bad memories.

They were two face of the same medal , the one can exist without the other .

“I wanted to know the guy he never let the world see.

I wanted it so badly it hurts.”

I believe in fate and in being in the right place at the right moment , and this story is all about fate and trying to put back together the broken pieces.

I’m not gonna spoiler anything but you should get ready because this story is gonna blow your mind . And yes , THERE’S A MAJOR CLIFF HANGER AT THE END.

“We weren’t two people separated by age and society’s rules, we were two people bound by grief and trauma and a connection that couldn’t be denied”

I gave it 566878 stars

my Blog

I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!

***4 "I choose you!!!" stars***

NOW AVAILABLE

"Sometimes you don't choose it, it chooses you."

The second generation of the Rixon Raiders had come into our lives with a mighty force and they are making me lose my mind over them!!!
This was Peyton and Xander's story and I was anticipating it like crazy!!!
And Mrs. Cotton didn't disappoint!!! She delivered an atmosphered, wonderful story full of forbidden romance, despair and light in the darkest places!!!
Buckle up and enjoy the ride!!!

"I had never expected to become the hero of someone's story..."

Peyton's life was never ideal, but after her mother's death, the despair is clutching her under its darkness and she can't let go...
An unexpected savior is coming to her rescue and everything is changing for her...
Not only because of Xander Chase, but he is the only one who is giving her a breath of life when she is needing it the most...

"The strongest glass usually shatters the most."

Xander is in a bad place for many years now... He is the one that disappointed everyone around him and even though he is getting closer to thirty, he doesn't really knows what he wants in his life... He is a lone wolf and he doesn't want anyone to rule his messy life...
But since the moment that he pulled Peyton Myers out of the river, his niece's best friend and much younger than him, he can't stop thinking about her!!! But what a guy like him have to offer to a girl like her???

"I wasn't looking to be anyone's white knight. Especially not hers."

Well, these two were brought together by fate and their souls had recognized each other's pain. It was inevitable to not be drown toward each other when they were both living half lives full of darkness and despair.
The truth is that there were too many obstacles standing between them, but you can't really choose who your heart will love. Right???
The only sure thing is that they have a huge battle ahead of them if they want to earn a slice of heaven...

"This... us, it can't ever happen. You're in high school, Peyton. And I'm... I'm no good for a girl like you."

I loved Peyton and Xander...
Peyton was a wild and sassy girl in the previous book, but in here, the light in her eyes had dimmed and it was unbareable to witness her pain...
Xander was someone that she didn't even know that she needed and he had the ability to make her open up and to make her breathe easier...

"I needed him. I needed him in a way that terrified me. He was my anchor, keeping me afloat in a sea of darkness."

The truth is that I always wanted Xander's story!!! I was so fond of him when I met him back on Cameron's book and to be totally honest here, I didn't like how he ended up in life. I also didn't like how his relationship with his brother was at the present. It made me really sad...
Xander was such a nice young man, but he didn't really know his worth and it was sad to witness it...
He may have saved Peyton, but she unexpectedly saved him back...

"When I'm with you, it's like... it's like for the first time, in a really long time, I can breathe."

These two were just perfect for each other, even though the age gap difference and their personal status... They just had to figure out too many things in order to be together...
Of course, for once again, Jason Ford had stolen the impressions... I just love this guy!!!
And I can not wait for more complicated stories from this bunch.. I just need them desperately!!!

"Sometimes love doesn't play by the rules.
Sometimes it's messy and raw and relentless.
Sometimes it hurts us and sometimes it breaks us.
But when you find the right kind of love, the love worth fighting for, you should never let go of that."

It feels like I've been waiting for this book forever. The teaser at the end of Off limits had me dying to get my hands on this. The writing style is awesome and I find myself hanging on every word. I am so invested in all of the characters, and having the secondary characters play such a huge part through both books has made me care as much about them as the main characters.

So when we got to that teaser I was already loving Peyton and dying not just to read her story but to get something good for her. Although from everything we had heard about Xander it was hard to picture him as anyone's hero. And if anyone deserved a prince to ride in on his white horse and carry them away it was Peyton. And despite her predicament at the end of Off limits, she didn't need saving, because she had been fighting her own battles forever.

Thankfully we got to know a whole lot more of Xander and I quickly grew to like him. He was messed up and he acted like a coward but it was understandable with everything they were both dealing with.

This story was awesome and I didn't want to put it down for a second. And the teaser at the end of this book is just as brutal. I am hoping we don't have long to wait for the next book because I need it now.

Hands down L.A. Cotton's best book to date! Deliciously angsty, tantalizingly forbidden, and vibrating with rich emotional complexity- I could not put this sexy and heartfelt love story down! I am so in love with everything about Peyton and Xander.

I am a bit of an age gap junkie- it’s my favorite trope, and LA beautifully and deliciously highlights the forbidden and taboo aspect here with the titillating thrall of the illicit student-teacher dynamic. It’s yummy and complicated and so very angsty. But what I loved most about this book is the emotional dynamic between Peyton and Xander. They have plenty of push- dynamics keeping them apart- but the pull comes down to their shared grief- how their broken souls understand each other in ways that no one else who loves them truly can. Two people who learn to embrace their scars, love them even, because they see parts of themselves in the other.

“The strongest glass usually shatters the most.” Oh sweet Peyton- she’s so strong, and so shattered. I love Peyton so fiercely. The vibrant, energetic and joyful girl we met has lost herself after tragedy. There is a kinship amongst those of us who've watched a loved one self-destruct in the way her mother did, a kinship I’ve belonged to since I was her age. I felt parts of my own emotional chaos over the death of my father singing off the page. LA so vividly and delicately adds the emotional layers to her character- her guilt, her resentment, her anger, but most importantly, her loneliness and isolation. How lost she is in her pain, a solitude only accentuated by the normalcy surrounding her. Her friends and their families show up for her in big ways- but no one understands truly. Until Xander. And after fate enables Xander to connect with her in another extraordinary way, there is NO denying their link- like one soul living in two bodies.

And Xander- swoon. He’s so complicated and broody and broken. He finds himself as Peyton’s unexpected hero, a role he never wished to play. He’s no one’s hero- he’s done nothing but mess up. But this enigmatic bad boy is in fact a hero. He’s growly, sure, but he’s also protective and empathetic and so loving- he just hasn’t had a place to put all his feelings. Like Peyton- he’s just longed to be loved and accepted, and who knew a girl 10 years his junior would have the emotional strength to heal his heart.

Their connection is intense- emotionally fragile but somehow unshakeable. Their chemistry is passionate, raw, turbulent, ANGSTY, and so beautiful. LA fuses heartbreaking and healing so lovingly- I was captivated by them. And I LIVED for them- the beauty of their woundedness, their tragic beauty, ways in which they heal each other. Two lonely hearts, shattered by tragedy, shuttered emotionally. Two souls who believe happiness doesn’t exist- until they find each other. From turbulence comes peace, from damage comes beauty.

I always love LA’s stories of young love, speckled with heartbreak and angst and deep and powerful first love connections. But, I’ve never been moved by a story in a way that I have this one- this is so much more than first love. She leans into the complexity, the damage and darkness, the melancholic sadness that engulfs these characters- the tragedy. But she also breathes life and truth into them- their story is so raw and vulnerable. My heart broke in places, soared in others. Life is full of unexpected tragedy and pain, but it is also full of unending love and hope. Love is sometimes messy and born out of tragedy, but as Peyton and Xander’s story shows, the right love can heal and restore. The right kind of love is worth the right- and fight they do. I could not love them more- and I can’t wait for more from this amazing world!

She did it again folks! Tragic Lies has to be my fav book so far in the whole Rixon universe!

These two were so special. Their story was emotional, important and so beautiful. My heart was aching for most of the book, for one reason or another. This is one of those stories that will stay with you for a little while.

I really loved these two’s journeys. Xander, goodness, I really had no idea who he was and what he was struggling with it. Yes, of course, I know what he’s been through but getting bits and pieces of him in other books, through other characters’ eyes just isn’t the same. There was so much to him and much more to what happened in his past and how it affected him. It was amazing to understand him and then see him finally breaking through his pain and thrive and find happiness and love. Honestly just thinking about his character makes me emotional.

And then there was Peyton. She was so lost, so broken. My heart hurt for what she has been through all her life and what she had just experienced. But even when she was miserable, she kept ongoing. No matter what shitty thing life threw at her, she just kept on walking, even if she had no idea where she was going.

I loved that these two completely broken, lost individuals found each other and found someone who understood what the other felt. Their souls were the same and, it was only through their deep conversations and connection, that they were able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how much it affected their vision along the way. As I said, these two were just both really special characters, and the best couple. Their lives weren’t easy, neither was their love story but they made it. They each made the other better, want to do better and make something of themselves, and that in itself was beautiful. God, I just loved this story so much!! Lianne did such an incredible job with these two’s story!

“It's you and me, Peyton. You and me against the world.”

Tragic Lies is the second installment in the Rixon High series and follows Xander Chase, Cameron's brother, and Peyton Myers, Lily Ford's best friend.

I had been waiting for Peyton and Xander's book since the ending of Off-Limits, and I wasn't disappointed because their story was such a beautiful and emotional read. I'm not usually a fan of age gaps, but L.A. Cotton did a well-job, and I really liked the way Xander and Peyton's relationship developed. As with her other books, I was fully engrossed in this couple's story.

Both Peyton and Xander are very strong characters. They each have their own struggle. They are lost and broken, but finding each other will change everything for them. They understand how the other feels and don't need to hide who they really are when they are together. Peyton and Xander had a deep connection from the moment they met, and it was amazing to see how they found peace with each other. Watching them grow and get better individually and as a couple also made this book a rollercoaster of emotions, and I shed a few tears. Peyton and Xander's story was so beautiful!

As always, it was great to see more of Jason and Felicity from the Rixon Raiders series. I love these two so much and even more so in this book because they were so supportive of Peyton and also of Xander. Lily and Kaiden are still so cute together!! Once again, the secondary characters are all great, and I'm looking forward to everyone getting their story.

Overall, I really enjoyed Tragic Lies. Peyton and Xander's book was moving, and I loved that they had such a strong connection. I can't wait to see what comes next, and I know I'll love the next installments as much as the first two!

tw: s*icide thoughts, de*th of relative, self-h*arm

We’re on a third book of the Rixon High series (of course, if you count the series’ prequel) and I’m already tempted to say that the second generation might be even better than the first one. This book really was amazing and brought something more into this series, and I’m super excited for more!

I mainly wanted to pick this one up because of Peyton and her presence in the first book. She was a very easy going girl yet you could clearly feel she was hiding her true self in front of everyone. For someone that just lost their parent and felt like they have no home, she still was very brave and I loved to see how she dealt with all of her problems throughout the books.

Xander was slightly irritating me, but it was all about him being closed - just like Peyton was. He was a very grumpy and stubborn hero. As he made a presence in the first series as a little kid, I knew he wouldn’t have it easy growing up, considering what he’s been through at such a young age. Just like with Peyton though, I enjoyed seeing Xander becoming a better man and finally, after all those years, finding happiness. His character growth was the peak of this book, really.

For many reasons, I loved the relationship Peyton and Xander had. Even though it was totally wrong for, again, many reasons, the connection was there every time they got to talk. The author did a great job here by describing their relationship and how they dealt with the possible outcomes and issues arising from it. I also love that they weren’t reckless and knew they shouldn’t be together - which obviously was hard. For me, I think they were just perfect for each other and deserved to be together because they understood each other and it could help them with their journey to finally find peace and be happy.

Anyway, this book is emotional, angsty and has many fun but also many many sad scenes (be aware of the trigger warnings). Although it might not be my fav because the first one was and still remains to be the top, I still enjoyed it so much and was glad to grow more familiar with the squad of this series. I cannot wait for the next book which will definitely be very very crazy - just saying from the teaser at the end of Tragic Lies.

5+ stars for this heart wrenching forbidden romance. From the time we met Xander as a child in the Rixon Raiders series, he felt like a very heavy character. When we meet him now at almost 30 years old he's developed such a strong sense of self-loathing that he's seemingly stuck in a downward spiral. His world is turned upside down one night when he saves 17 year old Peyton from a life-altering situation. He's never wanted to be anyone's hero but when you literally save a person's life you don't have a choice.

Peyton is Xander's niece's best friend. Her easygoing party girl persona comes crashing down in a night and she's not able to get back to where she was. Her circumstances and subsequent pain is so all encompassing. You can feel her emotions literally seething in her and how they're barely restrained with no idea about how to let it go and everyday it weighs down on her even more.

Xander and Peyton are both suffering and seeming hopeless and knew there was no choice but to keep existing. Lianne has woven the angst into this story so finely that I was often holding my breath, reading with a lump in my throat and a tissue in my hand. This story is so well-written and the characters so emotionally developed that you are drawn into them and feel every ounce of their pain. As always, she does an amazing job using the entire Rixon Raiders cast of characters to build a foundation for this story. Their love and devotion to each other is tested in this one though.

Last, I can't say enough about Bryan. There is a love triangle element to this story too and he proves himself to be an invaluable friend to Peyton when she needs him. He needs his own HEA!

This book is an emotional ride but oh so worth it! It grabs you and won't let go. I can't get enough of Rixon High!

“Sometimes love doesn’t play by the rules, Peyton. Sometimes it’s messy and raw and relentless. Sometimes it hurts us and sometimes it breaks us. But when you find the right kind of love, the love worth fighting for, you should never let go of that.”- Ford

There is nothing that can sum up this story more so than the quote above! My gosh Xander and Peyton’s story is filled with so much raw emotion I can’t even think right now. Peyton is such a strong heroine and I loved getting to experience her journey to healing! I loved seeing her blossom and grow.

Xander oh my heart bleeds for Xander. From the start he has had a shadow cast on him. I read Chases book because that is where you first meet him and getting to see him grow into this dark and jaded man was what sucked me in. I wanted to see how his story concluded. To see if he would heal his pain and find his place In the world.

This story is age gap and it’s not usually a preference of mine but I feel Cotton did a fabulous job at writing this story and really showing how what they share can’t be anything but beautiful!

I also loved getting to enjoy this group once more! I read all the parents books so seeing them and how their “families” have grown is just so amazing and it’s one of the reasons I keep reading the series because I feel a part of them and love each story! I can not wait for more!

I will also add you don’t need to read anything previously to enjoy this book!

„You and me against the world.”

Nobody writes angsty young adult like L.A. Cotton! Rixon Raiders is one of my favorite series ever and I'm always so happy to be back in this world. And the book about the younger brother of one of the OG Raiders was such an emotional journey that I’m still wiping my eyes! Xander and Peyton’s story is full of grief and sadness, but also filled with mutual understanding and that undeniable chemistry that makes this story unputdownable and so touching.

Both Peyton and Xander are broken and damaged by the past. And although they seem to be completely different, they really have a lot in common. Each of them tried to deal with their issues on their own, but mutual understanding showed them that temporary distractions will neither bring solace nor allow them to come to terms with the bad experiences. I loved the connection they shared and the passion that was hard to ignore. I adored the age-gap that gave that forbidden touch to their love story. Tragic Lies was one of the most emotional books I’ve read this year and also one of the most poignant.

If you love complex, damaged characters that find love and peace in each other’s arms- this story is for you. You’ll definitely shed a few tears, but in the end your heart will burst from happiness. L.A. Cotton is a gifted storyteller and Tragic Lies is a perfect example of her talent. I’m waiting with bated breath for the next book in this series!

it hurts my heart to give a book by la cotton 1 star. i love this woman and she’s one of my auto-buy authors, but this book just wasn’t one i enjoyed.

let me start of by saying i had quite a few issues with this book. 1 she was a minor when they started their relationship. 2 he’s a coach at her hs. 3 the way peyton treated bryan…

age gap is a trope that makes me very uncomfortable, but despite it i went into this book with an open mind. but the fact that peyton was a minor when they started their relationship really gives me the ick and i can’t see past it.

i loved peyton in off-limits but her character took a turn for the worse in this book. i found her annoying and very immature. and as for xander, i couldn’t connect with his character like i have the rest of the rixon family. and him having sexual relations with a minor… just no. i don’t care how you put it, it’s disgusting. i had to skip through the smut bc it made me so uncomfortable.

however, the side characters, my family. i love the world of rixon, and i have ever since the trouble with you. despite this book, i am beyond excited for the next books. i’m literally dying after the teaser at the end!!!

lastly, bryan hughes my love. highlight of the book.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful!

After reading Off-Limits and seing which couple's book was next I just knew it was going to be a special one.

There were lots of raw moments in this story; moments when I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest, or I was going to jump into the story and make everything right. Even though these moments were painful, they were beautiful. It was wonderful to see Peyton and Xander together, I didn't even realise how much I need it. Their romance was sweet, intense at times while sad at other times, and hot and chemistry filled as well.
They both had it rough in life, and the sadness, the feeling of being unworthy,... I was cheering for them the whole time.

This author never ceases to amaze me with her unique characters and beautiful writing. She puts her heart and soul into her storytelling and you can literally feel it. Again, beautiful!

You know when you start reading this that it isn’t going to go well.... but as usual you just can’t help yourself... forging on through all the pain and trauma that makes your chest ache... then a bit of happiness and hope... of course that is short lived... just as you predicted when you started.... all the while you are thinking ...how is this going to come out right. While your heart breaks for the damaged girl and the lonely, guarded man... both of whom just deserve to love and be unconditionally loved in return.

Once again Ms Cotton has brought us an angst filled drama with depth, pain, heat and love ...then a cliffy to really get your heart pumping!

Audiobook read.
The title made me cautious of this book. I’m not a fan of emotional storylines. Luckily for me this wasn’t sad.

Peyton’s mum wasn’t good for her and even in death she’s left her daughter stumbling through life. One night she goes down to the river in a drunken state.

Xander is the assistant coach at Rixon and also has a tragic past. He’s the one who pulls Peyton out of the water.

They try to fight their connection but they have an understanding no one else can see. Both feel broken. Can one mistake offer them both hope?

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was full of angsty which LA Cotton is so good at. The love between these two is perfect even though it’s unconventional. Highly recommended.

"I loved this side of Xander. Protective. Possessive. All growly and broody."

Wow I really loved this second book in the Rixon High series! Tragic Lies is an emotional age gap story that draws you into Peyton and Xander's story as they are two flawed souls that look to heal each other. Peyton was such a sympathetic heroine as she was trying to pick up the pieces after her mother's death. And Xander was the perfect man for her as he could totally relate to her pain and isolation as he had gone through so much pain in his past as well. I loved the forbidden aspect of this romance as Xander was not only 10 years older but also a coach at Peyton's school. And also loved the slow burn element as these two built such a strong emotional connection before they crossed the physical line. And their chemistry was just scorching! I'm so enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book!

L.A. Cotton continues her Rixon Raider spin-off with this tale of two broken souls in dire need of acceptance

After being rescued by Xander Chase, Payton Myers can’t help but gravitate towards her would be hero and he can’t deny the connection that was formed that night. But even though their pasts give them common ground, Xander is miserable and lost, and while his soul recognizes its kindred spirit in Peyton, the decade that separates them may be too vast.

Tragic Lies is book #2 of the Rixon High series by L.A. Cotton. It is an angsty and emotional. Exactly what you should expect and want from a forbidden romance. It’s told from both POV with a happy ending. Genre: sports romance. Tropes: Forbidden romance | age gap

18-Year-old Payton had never felt like she belonged. Having grown up fast, due to her mother’s drug addiction left her on her own more often than not. She knew how to play the game, putting on a brave face and becoming the life and soul of the party, but beneath her façade was a girl crying out for love, for that special someone who would see the real Payton. When her world came tumbling down, and she felt truly alone, she decided that no one would miss her, until Xander Chase saved her. He might have saved her in the physical form, but he put up a brick wall around his own heart. Xander knew loss, having lost his own mother and father at a young age. Even though he was now thirty, he had no real direction in life, always seeming to mess up a good thing.
His brother, Cameron, had always been his biggest supporter until even he became fed up. When Jase gave him a second chance to make something of his life as an assistant coach at the high shcool, he took the job. But was it for himself or to please his brother? Being the assistant coach put him in the direct path of the girl with eyes that haunted him and the temptation of a young woman who he wanted with all his being, but knew he could never cross that line. Payton was an addiction, sin wrapped up, and she slowly taunted him at every turn, being a hundred percent honest with him and what she wanted. But once they crossed that line, there was no going back and being the man he was, it was only a matter of time before he lived up to his lingering reputation. Would he learn to be the man and protect the woman he wanted, or would he fall back on his usual ammunition and disappoint everyone again? I had no problem with the age gap or the forbidden fruit, so to say. What I felt was missing was the actual growth between the two. I did not feel that pull, that chemistry, that want. It felt like they were both lost souls and that was their only connection. Payton for me was a better character because she had more depth, she knew what she wanted. As for Brian, he was fantastic and my heart bled for this young man. Xander felt like the teenager, the sulky man who enjoyed being miserable and had this annoying down-and-out temperament. I wanted him to grow up, take control of his life and go and get the girl, not wait for someone to tell him what he needed to do. It was like he just plodded through life, waiting for the handouts, which was annoying. I wanted him to look at the girl and say, I want her, I want to give her the better version of me, and I need to do that before I go back and get her. And while he did do it to a degree, again it wagered on waiting for people to offer him a position, or tell him what to do. The audio of this book is great, but unfortunately, I was not a fan of Xander and I felt like there were bits of the story that needed more. However, I still love the Rixon High Series.

From the moment that Cotton announced a second generation for the Raiders world, I was ecstatic!

Rixon is my FAVORITE series of hers! One of my favorite football series!
Cameron Chase was and always will be my #1 Raider, but he had to scoot over a bit to allow just a little bit of room for his little brother. Xander had me intrigued from the original series, he went through so much pain and heartbreak at such a young age! I was dying to know how those events would alter his world. No way could you read his story without a tear seeping through!
At the end of Lily's book (Off Limits) Cotton snagged me in a way that ensured I would most definitely be reading this book the MOMENT I could get it in my hands!

I love the Rixon world; and these kids of the original Raiders taking on their parents world by storm is great! Seeing the original Raiders step into parent roles and see how they navigate the brutal world of parenting has definitely been interesting and at times funny but in this book it was heartbreaking!
Peyton & Xander's relationship definitely checks off that forbidden box for me; but more than that. There is tragedy connecting them in a way that NO ONE else in their world can understand!

Want to start from the beginning?
Rixon High
#0.5 - Blurred Lines (Avery Chase - Cam & Hailey's son)
#1 - Off Limits (Lily Ford - Jason & Felicity Ford's daughter)
#2 - Tragic Lies (Xander - Cam Chase's brother & Peyton - Lily's best friend)
..more coming in this series!!!!

Tragic Lies releases June 8th!

This book. I fell in love with Peyton and Xander. They were both so broken and lost. Their story was full of so much pain, emotion and hope.

Peyton has experienced more than anyone should by the time they her age. Now, she lost her mother in a way that deeply hurt her. Her entire world was shattered and she just didn’t know what to do. Xander’s world was shattered a long time ago, but he never recovered. There is still guilt that he carries around after all these years. One fateful night brough these two people together when they needed it most, but will they be able to save each other?

I absolutely loved Peyton and Xander. They shared a connection that very few people would ever understand. However, there is so much more to them than just their shared broken pasts. Their journey isn’t easy. It is heartbreaking, it is raw and it is emotional, but there is also a beauty in it.

If you’re looking for an angsty, forbidden, age gap romance this is one to check out.

Holy freaking frick.
Okay, so I’ve calmed the farm a bit after finishing the book—and previewing what’s to come next... eeeek! I’m going to be counting down the days.

Xander and Peyton were forbidden goodness. The type you know is going to rip you to pieces, yet, you just can’t help but read it.
Every step of their journey I was waiting for the bad, on the edge of my seat, just hoping the fallout wouldn’t decimate them beyond repair.

Yes, their relationship was not typical but – oh, how was it put in the book? – sometimes you don’t choose, it chooses you. They were powerless against their pull to each other. Each interaction, each instance, I could see their control slipping and my goodness *fans face* when it did finally slip, it was magnificent.

Despite their traumatic pasts, they were able to trust each other, be vulnerable and find something magical.

This book will be stuck in my head for a while - it only seems fair to go into my top reads of the year list.

Angsty, emotional, beautiful and addictive!
Those are the main words I would describe Tragic Lies by L.A. Cotton with.

I usually am not a huge fan of age gap but this one was written and executed so well I seriously loved Xander and Peyton‘s story!
Both characters have been through soo much in their lifes but to find happiness with eachother is rare and just beautiful. Seperatly they are broken but together they are whole.

L.A. Cotton managed to write a story about how love can conquer and almost heal everything but it‘s also very important to have a support system outside of your partner. She writes wonderful friendships and family dynamics.

4.5⭐️

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I am rating this book 4.5 stars. To be honest I am always a little bit nervous when comes age gap romance, some authors can sell it and some just can't. Lianne you more than delivered. Tragic lies was emotional, exciting, and full of suspense . I have always loved Xan, even when he was little I loved him. He's one of those characters that gets there hooks in you and never let's go. Peyton is different, at first I was really iffy about her because of how she comes off. She's had a tough life, but she's strong and determined. Now what is the deal with Ezra I can't wait to find out his story.

I loved every damn thing about this book!!! These characters are just so deeply engrained in my heart, all of them. I feel like they’re my family too. I don’t even have a favorite cause they’re all fantastic!

But I loved Xander and Peyton’s forbidden tale. It was everything I hoped for. I won’t elaborate in my review and just say, read this series!! It’s so worth the time.

But wtf was that snippet at the end? Omg! I’m ready for Leigh’s book now!!
