Reading English works is a very good idea, but I agree with Abeer, why not reading an original English classic ? Jane Austen, the Brontes, Dickens, Thomas Hardy... a lot of choices. Paulo Coelho and Marquez are amazing authors but neither one of them writes in English! I think you should seek new horizons.
