From internationally bestselling author K.A. Tucker comes the dark and steamy Empire Nightclub series.
One visit to my father in prison—convicted for a murder he didn’t commit—and I’ve attracted the attention of the last man I’d ever want knowing that I exist.
Gabriel Easton.
Son of an infamous crime boss. Deplorable womanizer. Scoundrel to the core.
Worse, he has figured out how desperate I am to protect my father from brutality behind bars. He has the power to grant that protection, and he has offered it … for a price.
Me.
I'll do anything for my father, including agree to Gabriel's cruel game. But I won't comply with his every whim and wish.
Unfortunately for me, I think my loathing for him is what he’s enjoying most.
That's fine. By the time I’m through with him, he’ll be crying my name.
Mercy.

My name on this woman's lips will be my downfall.

First of all, if we're friends and you've read this book and didn't scream at me that I need to read it immediately? Yeah. I'm reevaluating our friendship. You are no friend of mine. Because if you were and you read this, then you'd know that this was so much my catnip, I'd want to name both of my ovaries Gabriel.

This is book one in one of the most addictive trilogies I've read in a long time. And I'm not a reader that gravitates to trilogies? But having devoured this book in one sitting, I can already confirm that book two is giving me the same vibes.

Gabriel is the ultimate bad boy. The man is the son of an infamous gangster whose mere name makes grown men quake. He and his brother have lived a life of debauchery and no expense spared but don't exactly what to be in their father's shadow.

Gabriel is also used to getting any woman he wants to fall at his knees at the snap of a sexy finger.

Mercy has had her entire world turned upside down when her father gets sent to prison for the murder of a man that attacked her. She's desperate to get him out and fight his unfair conviction. Especially since his life is in constant danger. Gabriel lays his sights on the beauty while visiting his own father and is determined to have her. But he doesn't exactly make a convincing argument when he offers his protection in exchange for her dropping to her knees.

Now if you're not a fan of alphaholes, you won't like this. But if you're like me and like them mean and extra cocky, prepare for ovary explosion, friends. Because Gabriel is all of the things. And I think what makes this as good as it was was watching his fall for Mercy. Mercy may be a good girl, but she takes no sh*t and isn't afraid to put Gabriel in his place and makes him work for it. The sexual tension is UNREAL You can practically taste their chemistry.

I devoured and I mean DEVOURED this book. It was deliciously dirty and completely addictive.

Sweet Mercy is ridiculous. I am even surprised that Miss Tucker wrote this. Maybe in an early year of her career. Certainly not her finest work.

The characters, the plot, the conversation, the development, the chemistry are all dump and just plain ridiculous. I was counting the chemistry would be another factor Miss Tucker can aced, but I was sorely wrong.

Sweet Mercy is a plain mess. A train wreck.

Mercy and Gabriel, book 1 of 4

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😊😄😘😍🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Mercy - she is twenty-five years old and works as an Administrative Assistant at an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. She has also been studying to become a substance abuse counselor whenever she is able to take night classes. Her mother died of a heroine overdose when she was just ten years old and her father, who was an auto mechanic is now in prison for Murder. Mercy has a lot of guilt because her father accidentally killed a coworker of his when he tried to sexually assault Mercy, and he was convicted of murder because they spent their entire savings on hiring a shyster lawyer who was incompetent.

The Hero: Gabriel - His seventy-five-year-old father Vlad Easton, is one of the biggest mob bosses in Phoenix and is in prison for another six years. He basically runs the prison and likes to think he is in charge of Gabriel and his brother Caleb as well. Though in the three years he has been in prison so far, Gabriel and his brother have opened a successful nightclub that looks like a legitimate business, although it does launder millions of dollars of drug money from his father and uncles side of the business.

The Story: On Mercy’s first weekly visit to see her father in prison, she is distressed to find out that a member of the family of the guy her father killed is locked up with her father and attacked him. She is very worried about her father, especially when he tells her a bit about how the prison works. He points out one guy who can get anything he wants from the outside and can get to anyone on the outside or inside. He also points out a mob boss who has the warden and a bunch of guards in his pocket. Mercy looks over to the mob bosses table to see who he is visiting with, and her eyes meet Gabriels.

Gabriel has no shortage of females at his beck and call. Though lately he has been getting a bit bored of those kinds of girls. He sees Mercy and instantly wants to get to know who she is and get her into his bed or on her knees. He finds out that she will be back to visit her father the following week and shows up again (though he usually only visits his father once a month). He finds out that someone has been beating up Mercy’s father. He knows that he can help offer protection for her father and uses that as a way of getting Mercy to do what he wants.

I liked the fact that Gabriel has power but wants to go legitimate. He doesn’t want to go the route of his father and end up in prison himself. Though he was a massively arrogant jerk the first half of the book. He was used to women falling at his feet and doing anything he wants, and he has a pretty low opinion of women in general. When he bribes Mercy into coming to stay with him, he says it is only for a week or so, because he is sure that he will grow bored with her in that amount of time.

I was half-way through this book when I saw that it was book 1 of 4 in the story of Mercy and Gabriel. I most likely would not have started it if I had known that. Though the premise was good, and the story and romance held up to my expectations, I am not sure if I want to listen to three more books about this one couple, though this one was good enough for me to go on to the next one.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Alex Kydd and Ada Sinclair. Alex Kydd is a good narrator; I like the voice he uses for Gabriel; it is kind of low and gravelly. He is great at using completely different sounding voices for other characters as well. Ada Sinclair has a clear, feminine voice which is very pleasant as well.

This is a lost cause.
6 hours I'll never get back
I regret picking it up

What to expect:
∘ Adult Contemporary - Erotica
∘ Mafia without mafia
∘ Dual POV
Tropes:
∘ Insta-Lust
∘ Boy chasing Girl
∘ Forced Proximity
∘ Hate to Love

Summary
Mercy's father is in jail for a crime he did not commit. She's devastated, on the brink of depression and would do anything to help him. If this wasn't already bad enough, it got worse when a relative of the man her father killed starts stirring trouble trough the inmates.
When Gabriel, the son of a crime boss, sets his eyes on Mercy, he decides he would do everything in his power to get her in his bed.
You already know how this will go down.

Characters
Mercy
Her name's Mercy and she's not smart. She's the perfect example of the saying "she has the looks, lacks the brain". This may sound rude but it is what it is.
Gabriel
A man with no morals, inexcusable behavior and actions.
He knows she's vulnerable and he decides to take advantage of the situation to manipulate her into sleeping with him.
I'd punch him in the face.
No hesitation.

Romance
The romantic plot in this book *chuckles* is a joke.

Conclusion
I just can't believe K.A. Tucker wrote this.
I'll just forget this book exists — I'm sorry.

“How much longer are you going to lie to yourself?“

This was enjoyable. Sort of forced proximity because the hero is bribing the heroine into staying/being with him. It somewhat gives beauty and the beast vibes because everything Mercy does is to protect her father. Gabriel is essentially bored with everything/everyone else and Mercy catches his eye, so he uses her fathers safety against her. See where those vibes come from. Anyway.

It’s mafia adjacent. There’s forced proximity. The tension builds slowly, but once it reaches the top of the hill it’s hot from then on. I’m excited to see where the story goes, wonder if it will get a little skinky like Wolf Hotels or if mafia and a possessive hero is the draw here lol. Oh also it has dual POV which I appreciate.

1 star, maybe 1.5

Well, I am not sure what to say except that it was a disappointing mess.
And I am far from impressed.

And I was super excited about this one but after reading it I only had one question on my mind:

I'm trying to come up with the things I liked about this book and the only thing I have is the style of writing.
It was good enough and somehow made this dumb story less painful to read.
But I guess that's about it.
Because I hated pretty much everything else here.

1. The storyline is non existent and it simply consists in two rather unlikeable and definitely annoying morons struck by instalust who are playing their extended foreplay games for 75% of the book simply because they both want to scratch an itch.

2. The dumb heroine.
I honestly hated this dumb bitch.

Because since the very first scene when she met Gabriel, our manwhore hero, she doesn't shut up about how incredibly hot the guy is.
At the same time, she immediately hates him because he is the son of some mafia dude who is in the same prison as her father.

However, her pseudo hate turns into heat and her rule to never let him touch her very quickly flies out of the window because our sis doesn't have a brain and all the decision making process is conducted by her throbbing pussy.
And her pussy is actually throbbing all the fucking time and this girl is just a walking vessel of a betraying body syndrome.
And I hated that with all my heart.

Plus, the constant whining about how complicated her life was was getting on my last nerve. She didn't stop whining for even a second.

And let's not forget that she is not in prison like her father but that was sth she didn't bitch about for too long.
And yet, her life is hard because apparently she has a job that can only pay for a flat in a bad neighbourhood and she is fucking gorgeous and every male in this book wants her but, of course, she doesn't know it.
Ugh.

And one more thing needs to be said, she kept making comments about all the club hoes that Gabriel's house is always full of, how they had no shame and all and yet not once did realise that she was no better than those girls.
Because last time I checked getting banged in exchange for protection is exactly that, whoring yourself.

Seriously, how this girl managed to get into law school with no brain and only with her throbbing pussy is really impressive.

3. Gabriel in not my kinda hero.
Not even my kind of anti hero.

And believe me, I do have a very high level of tolerance when it comes to fucked up heroes and I usually love them all, the more fucked in the head, the better.

So why didn't I love him?
Well, first off, he comes across as a rather juvenile, smug and full of himself manwhore with a constant smirk on his lips.

The fact that he thinks with his dick didn't help me warm up to his character.
He naturally is sinfully handsome and he knows that, women throw themselves at him every chance they get and he never lets a skirt go away.

He lives in a mansion with his brother who, I assume, is a sex addict. Their house is always full of willing and half naked women, they fuck them by turns and do it publicly in the open in front of each other.
And if that is not sick, I really dunno what is.
Because at some point I felt like puking. Ugh.

What is better, our hero has no problem banging the hoes and being sucked by them after meeting our dumb heroine.

And the absolute rotten cherry on top of this shitty sundae is that he brought Mercy to this fuckhouse in front of all the hoes and the open orgies like it was the most natural thing in the world.
And she didn't even bat en eyelash. And If I remember correctly she felt aroused and said she used to go to parties where people fucked in front of everyone so that was no biggie for her.

I srsly dunno what kind of parties she went to but when I was in high school I sat on my ass home studying.
So another confirmation that she is just as stupid as I said.

Anyways, he is dumbstruck with lust at first sight and manipulates her to sleep with him. And when they finally do, dude is apparently very smitten with her and refuses to let her go.

So the initial plan where she is supposed to stay with him for a week in exchange for her father's protection is not long enough and he offers her another deal.
This time to hire a lawyer who could help her father's case and our dumb sis is happy.

The story ends with a cliffhanger where she asks him if he deals in illegal drugs and he denies.
But apparently that is not the case
as he runs to his brother (who was in the middle of a threesome at that time) and tells him he wants out immediately before our dumb sis discovers the truth.
And that is the end of this book.

4. Why is it always the case that the heroine's bff is usually just another moron?
This one's name was Michelle and sweet heaven above, what an annoying, immature, dumb moron she was...
I swear, she was even worse than Mercy.

And why is it always that they want to go to a nightclub with the heroine and drag her there and it's usually when she meets the hero?

Why?

Am I shooting for the stars wishing that crap like this didn't take place because it's stupid and unoriginal?
And sorry but filthy nightclubs are not the best places for a date (Michelle's) and I can name at least a dozen better ones at the drop of a hat.
Ugh.

Summing up, I hated this book and I hate myself for buying two in the series and I hate the fact that there are four in total to conclude the story even more.

I can barely tolerate trilogies but 4 books of the same couple is too much.

4 books of a couple you seriously can't stand seems like a punishment.
That you have to pay for.

So I dunno.
Maybe I will hate read the next book that I already have and then we'll see.

I think the most disappointing was that it lacked any depth and it was all about sexing and nothing more.

Maybe I wasn't in the target audience and if I were a horny teen still wet behind the ears and not the old sweat that I am, then maybe this book would be more appealing to my taste.

But I'm not and it wasn't.

Hence the rating.

Sometimes you’re the predator; sometimes you’re the prey. I was the prey to a predator of words called Sweet Mercy. Nina West is a new-to-me author and her wonderfully witty and wantonly writing kept me glued to the pages. I DEVOURED this steamy and dreamy read in one sitting, falling head-over-heels in love with this romance. Oh mercy! This story was my drug—hot, heady, and heart-pounding—and I couldn’t get enough hits. The sweet and smoldering Sweet Mercy hijacked me where I was glued to this brilliant book. I was wholly SEDUCED as I surrendered to every heart-throbbing and thigh-clenching word.

This is the tale of a desperate heroine willing to do whatever it takes to save her family—even if it means giving herself to a dangerous but delicious devil of a hero. The all alpha hero with his deliciously dirty mouth was my sin and his heart beneath the strong exterior was my undoing. I loved Gabriel, the most lethal mix of dangerous, sex-on-a-stick devil and swoony white knight. The playful banter that blazed and burned between the hero and heroine was energizing and enticing ... pure pleasure to read!!! Mercy and Gabriel were SMOKIN' together!!!

”You might hate me, but you also want me.”

An all-consuming, pulse-pounding, sinfully sexy story with strong characters that will captivate you from beginning to end. The writing is witty and heady—a potent hit of heat, humor, and heart. Sweet Mercy will set your body and ereader on fire where you will burn for this book. Oh did I burn everywhere! Alluring and adrenaline-charged, this tale is DESIRE ON FIRE, full of sex, sin, snark, and swoon. This alluring, toe-curling romance is a fantasy come true. Heart-pounding, thigh-clenching, sweet-sighing goodness. Oh sweet mercy, I need more!

💋💋💋💋💋 sinfully sweet mercy kisses

A MUST-READ ROMANCE!

So Mercy, the heroine of this book is beautiful. So beautiful that her father lands himself in jail (for defending her). Everyone is always gawking at her because she is beautiful. Her neighbors, the passerbys and even the prison guard.

Anyways, so the Mercy’s dad is in prison for murdering her assaulter. And every time she visits him he comes with new wounds on his body. He gets bullied in the prison.
The Gabriel, the Hero, who sees Mercy during his prison visit to his convict dad, is in instalust with the her. He offers her a deal of protection to her dad in the prison, in exchange of a BJ.

She slaps him.

And I loved it.

I was so happy that she didn’t accept the offer right away.
But she had to eventually because her dad ends up getting badly beaten in the prison. And it’s only the powerful and rich H who can help her.
He makes a new deal to protect her dad on a condition that she will live with him for a week. And yes he promises her that he will not touch her until she begs him to.

The book was intriguing. I just couldn’t put this down.

The H is associated with all the wrong things. Wrong father, Wrong business....
Of course, the authors doesn’t fail to include Hero getting BJ from random ow. Gabriel and his brother even f*ck the same ow. They have women and parties in their house almost daily. His brother was an even more disgusting manwhore pig. But this is not about him and so let me ignore that junk.

After meeting the Mercy, Gabriel slows down with his whoring because he wants the her. And when she comes to live with him as a part of their deal, he becomes completely besotted with her.

“Look, I’m not gonna lie to you and pretend I haven’t fucked a lot of women. I have, because I love pussy and I love fucking. And I’m really good at it. But, if it’s any consolation, there’s only one naked woman I want to come home to, baby.”

Gabriel is unlikable. Many will hate him for sure. But I liked the way he helped Mercy. He cared for her. He didn’t force himself on her. Hell...they don’t even kiss till 75% of the book.

I liked Mercy. She did have some ‘ogling the H’ moments but she was spunky.

I never thought I would like this book.
There are some grammatical errors. But that can be ignored.

And this ends in a cliffhanger.

About recommending the book, well, I don’t know. I have tried to mention almost all the safety info in my review. If they bother you then please ignore this book. And if they don’t, then you can give it a try.

Sweet Mercy is book one in the Dirty Empire trilogy.

KA Tucker is one of my favorite authors. This series is advertised as being dark and sexy. I would say that it is definitely darker and sexier than any of the books that she writes under her own name.

Even though super sexy is not really my thing (I rarely read books with shirtless men on the cover) I really wanted to try this series.

The book alternates between the male and female POV (both 1st person POVs). The narrators are Mercy (25) and Gabriel (29).

Mercy is a kind sweet woman. Gabriel is the son of a mob boss. And he is not very nice. He isn't a rapist or murderer. But he definitely wants what he wants. I don't love alpha males. But I think that the story-line was interesting.

I would say that this book features some darker themes. But it was not overly dark or graphic (there were no rape or murder scenes depicted).

The book was sexy. But a lot of it was just dirty talk. Or sex scenes happening at Gabriel's mansion.

I was desperately hoping that this book would have an epic cliffhanger ending. Is this first book a complete story? Absolutely not. But the book does not end with a cliffhanger IMO.

Is this the type of book that I would normally read? No. But I definitely want to see where the story goes from here. I am super curious to see if there is any way that Gabriel can redeem himself in my eyes. Or if this could possibly be an epic love story.

I knew what this book was going to be going in. It was too sexy for me. But for the most part I enjoyed it. I am interested to see where the story goes. And I am especially interested to see what happens with both of their fathers in the second book.

Overall, this book was a super quick read. And it was interesting to see a completely different side of one of my favorite authors.

Sweet Mercy is the first book in this incredibly addictive series and this is where we see the beginning of our pairing Gabriel and Mercy. I will say that I have been wanting to explore more of this author's work, especially her more edgy contemporaries. I found this one while browsing the KU library and I was completely hooked into the story. I was on board with the premise of the story and I was immediately drawn into this story. It definitely has the type of setup (that is common within certain historicals and I don't see this type of arrangement in contemporaries very often) so its always refreshing to find an author that will take this type of story on. I really fell in love with both of these characters. At the beginning of their story, they each have their own motivations, of course, but at the end of the day, there is an intense connection between them. There is also such a sexy feel to the bedroom scenes that completely worked for me and such a great start to this series.

I'm definitely heading back to my mafia romance era.

If K.A. Tucker writes it, I'll read it.

Mercy is visiting her father in prison when she catches the eye of Gabriel Easton, son of the infamous crime boss. He makes her deal with her, he'll protect her father in prison if she spends a week with him.

YES YES YES YES YES.

YES.

This book is an easy-read and the perfect palate cleanser. I loved Mercy, and Gabriel is a great morally grey MMC.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see the consequences of Gabriel lying to Mercy!

The dynamics between Mercy and Gabriel is dark, however, the writer lightens it up somehow keeping things light and entertaining. The tension builds slowly, but once it reaches the top of the hill it got my kindle on fire!!

If you’re looking for a firey read, this is it!

I hate that her dad is in jail just because he protected his baby girl. It is fucked up. I really enjoyed the characters and the fact that it wasn’t just about sex and being horny. That is why I like K. A. Tucker, her books have a plot and good storyline to them. Mercy and Gabriel are so flipping cute together and I love the hazing his brother gives her! I can’t believe most the book took place in 2 days though. It felt like so much longer in the best way.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

'Sweet Mercy' is the first book of the 'Dirty Empire' trilogy by Nina West. Told in dual Perspectives , This book is the definition of sexy!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! I can't even tell you guys how fast my heart is beating right now!! This book was sinfully delicious and had all the feels! Gabriel is my man! You hear me… I may be encouraging you guys to give this book a try , but do not for one second think that you can claim Gabriel!!

Gabriel is the perfect mixture of bad boy and anti hero! He is swoon-worthy and hot and yeah… I am in love. I devoured this book in one sitting and absolutely could not stop until I turned the very last page. This author has created a masterpiece! Gabriel is a playboy. He is used to woman falling at his feet , so when a sassy woman he meets by chance gives him hell , well he decides her fate . She will be his no matter what!

Mercy was Gabriel's perfect match. Going through a hard life herself and willing to do anything to get her father out of prison , she does not have time for some cocky wannabe distraction. She was the perfect girl and I loved the way she gave Gabriel sass. Because he seriously needed that. I loved when she put him in her place , partially because a sexy scene followed that, lol. The tension between these two was off the charts and even I shivering at times!

Absolutely amazing! This book is my serious recommendation to all the romance lovers out there!! Believe me , this author will hook you right from the start and won't let you go until the very end! Can't wait for the next book!!!

A book teenagers would enjoy. The characters came across as juvenile teenagers, not a dark Alpha Male amongst the lot. The premise is one I've read in several books, with a girl making a 'deal' with a criminal to protect her loved one. But unfortunately this story was just really very dull in comparison to the other darker ones I've read.

Like I said, Gabriel came across as a teen playing dress up, not a real hard mafia guy. Mercy refusing to spend a week with Gabriel, no sex involved, was inane and ridiculous. It would have saved her father from painful weekly beatings but she refused. What?! Just silly!

The author really diminished the seriousness of Mercy's father's situation by writing her refusing Gabriel's offer like that. It also made it really annoying to read both characters constantly thinking that 'she loves her dad so much she would do anything to protect him', because clearly she doesn't!

There is just way too much boring text to read through here. If you want a similar themed book but with a male that truly is all Alpha, and a heroine whose behaviour is actually believable, then read a book called Caged by E.L. Beth. Or Reapers Property by Joanna Wylde.

I will warn than E.L Beth cannot write, she makes tons of spelling and grammar mistakes but even with those problems, her story is still far better than this and much more believable. It just goes to show that better spelling and vocabulary used in this book, does not make for a better story.

Sweet Mercy  is the first book I have read by author Nina West, and I absolutely loved it!

“Stay with me.”

Three words that change the course of Mercy’s life, a life that is falling apart and leaving her feeling hopeless. With her dad being assaulted in prison, she will do anything to protect him. Then, Gabriel Easton offers her a lifeline for her father—if she agrees to stay with him, he’ll make sure her dad is safe while he’s behind bars.

“His name is Gabriel. An angel’s name. Though something tells me there’s nothing angelic about this guy.”

She hates who Gabriel is and what he stands for, but nothing is quite as it seems. With heart-stopping good looks, crazy gorgeous dimples, and a body to die for, saying no isn’t as easy as Mercy thought. Behind his hotness is a man you wanna hate—but I found that to be impossible. I fell for every word that came out of his mouth and the way he was with Mercy. Gah!! I LOVED him!!! 😍

“Mercy. My sweet, sweet Mercy. You will be mine.”

I cannot wait for more from Ms. West and the Dirty Empire series. What a fantastic start to the series! Couldn’t put it down!!

"No. I just find it funny that you call your whores guests. And as if I'm going to wear one of their bikinis." My face twist with disgust.
"Women aren't whores just because they like to fuck. I wish you'd get that out of that gorgeous head of yours."
This h believes that she's not a whore just because she has to have sex with H to 'protect' her father. Well let me tell you something, my dear, you're fucking him because you're paying him a favor, so that makes you a whore. Oops.

Nina West is a new author to me. My first book of her was a total win and I'm so glad that I picked up "Sweet Mercy"!!

Mercy's life changed dramatically when her father is convicted for killing someone who hurt her. However, his life is not safe since another man is targeting him for revenge.

Gabriel is a mob boss's son trying to cut ties with the underworld. While visiting his father in prison, he sees Mercy and he's instantly attracted to her. In order to make her his, he offers to protect her father in exchange of Mercy coming to live with him for some time.

Mercy and Gabriel's relationship is a complicate one. The attraction between them is real and the sexual chemistry is scorching. However, Mercy blocks Gabriel's advances and tries really hard to keep away from him. After all she can't just forget who he is and what he does for a living.

The book is a great introduction to the characters and their backstories. I really liked what I saw so far and I'm looking forward to the next book!!!

I was a little apprehensive about Sweet Mercy because the premise reminded me of a bully romance style novel. While Gabriel is no saint, he’s certainly not the villain I thought he would be.

It’s best to keep a glass of cold water nearby because Mercy and Gabriel’s chemistry is fire hot. Their chemistry is instant despite the setting in which they first met. Like West’s Wolf Hotel, the sex scenes are graphic and hot.

What makes Sweet Mercy work so well is the power balance between Mercy and Gabriel. The power swings back and forth without creating too much of an imbalance between the characters. Mercy is by no means at the mercy of Gabriel. She’s able to hold her own while still maintaining a more innocent vibe.

Sweet Mercy’s premise is slightly unrealistic, but it works because of the power balance mentioned earlier. It’s the perfect balance of unrealistic and romance fantasy.

Overall, Sweet Mercy is a quick and sexy read that will keep you turning pages well into the night.

Started off promising but as the story progressed, it kind of went no where. Where's the violence and the mafia aspect of the story? It's just Gabriel chasing after Mercy the whole time. I appreciate all the steamy scenes, but it wasn't balanced out with the rest of the story. Hopefully the next installment will be better.
