The first book in the One Night series by Allie Boniface. I give this something between 3 and 4 stars. I enjoyed the story but the weird style and flash backs turned me off. Plus I wanted to slap the heroine many times but I guess for the story to work she had to be an idiot.

I was a little dubious about whether I would enjoy a story set over 24 hours as I’ve never read anything like it before but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Maggie is a very confused and desperate person who has one last chance to contact her step brother to see if he is willing to help her so she doesn’t lose everything. She has had a complicated life that never seems to go right for her.

Jack lost the love of his life when Maggie left him but he picked up the pieces and carried on, burying the heartache and concentrating on his career. He has done well for himself and has convinced himself that he is happy. But when he begins to remember the past he has buried he starts to question his current situation.

Maggie attends the ball in a last ditch effort to try to find her step brother who she hasn’t spoken to for years. When she unexpectedly bumps in to Jack it brings the past and the memories that have been plaguing her to the surface.
The relationship between Maggie and Jack is a complicated one but made me hope that they would find a way to work through their past problems and have their happily ever after.

Maggie used to have a great relationship with her step brother, Dillon. But after one fateful night when they were younger their relationship became strained and eventually Maggie severed all contact.

The anger and pain that Maggie felt made her seem more real to me although I did question the depth and the reasons for this on occasion. I liked the strong friends that surrounded Maggie and provided her the support she so obviously needed. Eden and Neve were fantastic characters and seemed like true friends to Maggie.

I did struggle a bit with all the flashbacks from the different perspectives throughout the story but it did help develop an understanding of how and why the situation that the characters found themselves in at the present had been affected by the past.

Ms Boniface did a fantastic job of keeping this a fast paced story, with all the twists and turns to keep it interesting but still developed the characters so it felt like grew to know them.
I enjoyed this story and felt all the highs and lows right along with the characters. The twists kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next and I couldn’t put the book down. I was kept me guessing all the way through whether Maggie and Jack would get their HEA and also if there was a chance for Maggie to reconcile her relationship with Dillon.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a complicated, angst filled love story.

Maggie Doyle is about to lose everything if she can’t come up with the money to pay off the bank. On the other hand, Jack Major is rich and has everything, including the successful woman he is about to marry. But when a chance encounter reunites them, will love really ignite again and defeat not just the present but the past as well? They have one night to find out.

So One Night in Boston asks ‘can anything really change in 24 hours? Sure. I went from being interested in this book to completely loathing it in 24 hours. Does that count? Seriously, this book failed in every way conceivable. Let me explain.

First – plot. The plot is a rehash of the down-on-her-luck girl meets rich flame from past who she left but still loves, but she is damaged and has secrets and he has everything but he hasn’t gotten over her and still loves her and he must save her from… Whatever. The only difference is One Night in Boston tries to turn this into an episode of the show 24 by – get this – cleaving the chapters into one hour increments. Very original. The trouble is Boniface can only pull it off with a narrative studded with pointless flashbacks. So what we are left with is a cliché wrapped inside of a gimmick. Sigh. But that’s ok, because strong writing can make even the most tired plot interesting. Right? Right?

Houston, we have a problem. The problem is that the writing is actually worse than the plot. The dialog is laugh-out-loud silly. Maggie and Jack’s actions have no relationship to the real world at all. I had to sift through grammar errors, weak writing and a ponderous, wandering narration. There was no flow, no style, no hope. Worst of all were the number of facts that were completely wrong. A few examples: partners in private law firms don’t prosecute murder cases, if you follow Maggie’s driving directions you will be underwater, it is physically impossible to… oh, never mind. Trust me, there plenty more. It made me grit my teeth too many times. Two words – fact check!

One Night in Boston is a classroom example of what not to do with a novel. Clichéd plot, contrived structure, poor writing, blatant disregard for facts and uninteresting characters. I beat myself silly trying to come up with something positive I could say, but I ended up only with a sore head. This one was physically painful to read. Do yourself a favor and pass on One Night in Boston. The reader you save might be yourself.

Maggie has not had an easy life. She has loved and lost and, with lots of regrets, feels as if she has come out stronger on the other side of life. When parental responsibilities and life changes catch up with her, she draws on memories from her past – both the good and the bad, and goes looking for the one chance she thinks she has left to help her.

Jack Major, from a good family, best of education, and with more regret than you can shake a stick at, has made a name for himself. Even though he’s got a good thing in the bag with his career and a beautiful fiancé, he finds it impossible to feel committed to the big day. When he sees the one person he can’t forgive or forget; he sets out to get answers and have his say. It's been ten years; his say can’t really make a difference. Or can it?

ONE NIGHT IN BOSTON is a story where dreams, hopes, regret and forgiveness all meet on one rainy night in Boston.

A thrilling read with characters and a plot that is so real, it feels spooky. The story revolves around two central characters, Maggie and Jack, and the loss they have experienced and the chance they missed. While the experience has played a part in making them the people they are today, it has also made them bitter and reluctant to try love again. The supporting cast is integral in the build up to that one night where everything seems surreal. Ms Boniface has etched out the best and worst of life before the infamous night in Boston, with you hoping with all your heart for the best outcome for all involved.

People and feelings will be and are hurt, but with gentle let downs and quiet determination, ONE NIGHT IN BOSTON just might be the one night they have prepared their whole lives for.

This is yet another free Kindle book I added back in 2010 and then never got around to. This book had no real redeeming qualities. It was a totally ridiculous book with no real redeeming characters, and a story that's been told over and over again.

Girl and Boy fall in love. Girl has secret, so Girl breaks up with Boy. Girl and Boy still love each other....chaos ensues to allow Boy to save Girl.

This book was just plain dumb. Also, since when do people wear wedding rings on their third fingers? Last time I checked, it was the fourth finger. And also, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that district attorneys and what not tried and prosecuted murder cases in the city of Boston, not partners at large fancy law firms?

Not worth a read at all.

The concept of a book that takes place over the period of no more than twenty-four hours could be a good one, in the hands of a talented author. However, Boniface is not a talented author.

The characterization was lacking, the circumstances contrived, and the execution of the plot was just that: an execution. I was relieved when I finished the book so I could move on to something better.

This is the first, and almost certainly the last novel I will read by Allie Boniface.

An intriguing concept of having the whole book take place over about 24 hrs. However, I like my romances to have that HEA and it’s hard to believe that you can find that HEA in 24 hrs even if it’s a reunited couple. Also, there is sort of cheating in the book and the heroine is a dumbass. She also needs therapy for past issues that the end of the book kind of implies were magically solved. No ma’am. Therapy please.

[my rating is really 3.5 stars:]
This was a cute book. I liked the ensemble cast and how the story all came together in the end.
Its been a while since I shed a tear in a book, and while I am a total softie, there were some parts that will pull at your heartstrings.

Alot of people didn't like the flashbacks in the book. I have to admit, while they didn't really bother me, sometimes it did feel like there was more flashback than current story.

But all in all, a sweet book.

While I found this book to be quite predictable and the circumstances a little too coincidental, I enjoyed reading it. I liked the author's writing style; it's easy to read, which is a good thing when you're just looking to be entertained for a couple days. I gave it above three stars not because I thought it was a really great story, but because it lightened my mood and served its purpose of entertaining me for a while.

This book was written by a Homer High School graduate. She was the daughter of Emily's guidance counselor. The book was well done. It contained a romance, a famiy torn apart, and a former love who the main character runs into ten years after they split up. It was a decent read and I would read future books written by her.

I'm only giving this one the 'ok' rating. I thought the delivery was weak and could have been much stronger if the author went into past events a little more. Some of the flashbacks were the most interesting parts. I found myself skimming pages without really loosing any of the storyline, which is always disappointing for me.

I was scrolling through all the books I've downloaded on my kindle and found this one. I do not remember downloading it but I think it must have been a freebie. Not the best romance that I've ever read but not the worst. I wonder if this book has been made into a lifetime movie/hallmark movie because that is exactly the way it reads.

I found the concept around this book to be interesting. The story was also good. I felt as if the end was a little hurried especially surrounding Maggie and Jack resolving some professional differences. Beyond that I read this book quickly and enjoyed it as well. There weren't many laughs but it did tug on my heartstrings.

As a resident of metro Boston, I did not appreciate how, at one point, our heroine is stuck in a traffic jam at the Boylston T Stop, and more than one hour later was not only still in the city but also on local roads instead of 93 South (as she was heading towards RI). A quick and easy read.

I picked this book up as a free ebook from AllRomanceeBooks. Since it was free I wasn't expecting a lot, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the book. The main character did get on my nerves at times, but it was still a good book.

Surprisingly liked this one. Wasn't what I expected when I opened it up, but enjoyable in the end. Almost didn't feel like there was enough of the book. I would have liked it to be a bit longer and better fleshed out.

I did enjoy this book - as a matter of fact I lost a little sleep last night because I had reached the part of the story I found hard to put down. There were a number of events and people in this young women's life to keep the interest, wondering how things would change in the following pages.

Maggie is about to lose her home and her business. She decides to go to Boston to find her long lost step-brother and ask him for a loan. While there she re-unites with Jack, but his agency is trying to buy out her house and business to build a new company extension. Lots of drama ensues.

I love romances about reuniting with "the one who got away." Pretty light reading, but lots of character development. For such a short book, I actually fell in love with the main characters. Nice, quick enjoyable read.

I hate myself a bit for reading this. Even more for liking it. Romantic drivel if I ever read some. White knight saves damsel in distress. Barf. But I did swoon a bit. Stupid drivel.

This story had more potential. I usually read every word to the end. Around ch 3, i only read quotes, flashbacks, and bits of the paragraph. I was able to keep up with very little reading. No huge surprises. Would still consider reading additional books from the author.

Cute story, easy beach read

I read this so long ago, from what I remember, I enjoyed it. Typical boy meets girl, girl is broke, she goes on a hunt to find someone to fund her store, and they fall in love. Cute story.

Reminded me of one of those commercials where the whole idea is to make you shed a tear. I didn't really connect with the characters & skimmed lots of the book.

It was okay, the ending could have been better. There was room for at least another chapter to clear up or at least face the issues that were left open.
